I'm new to the new generations and I haven't played a new game since Emeral, so my question it's..... why are they so broken?
I started playing a game made by fans (Pokemon Unbound) that goes from 1st gen to 8th and I would say the Fairy type are the most powerful.
They wanted to create a type to specifically balance the Gen 5 meta when Dragon was the most powerful type, and it worked a little too well. Dragongays are STILL seething about it to this very day.
They could have just buffed some of the other types if they wanted to specifically nerf Dragon
Instead apparently Bug needed another nerf lmao
>Instead apparently Bug needed another nerf lmao
i will never not seethe at this. i'd like the opposite to be true, where bug is SE against fairy, but for the love of god why is it NVE
Why would Bug be SE against Fairy?
aside from giving bug a much-needed buff for having a niche against what is arguably one of if not the best type, put a praying mantis and tinkerbell in a jar and tell me who wins the 1v1 because i guarantee you tinkerbell does not leave that jar with her head attached to her shoulders
even if you think tink wins the duel, there's not much reason against bug at least being neutral
That's not even a fair fight, Tink has magic while a Bug is while just well a bug, also Faes comes in all shape and sizes not just small, do you think it make sense for an Elf or a Goblin to be killed by a Bug?
> put a praying mantis and tinkerbell in a jar
tinkerbell because she has magic
fairy shouldn’t resist bug but making bug super effective against it is about as moronic as making fighting super effective against psychic.
Berserk reference
It isn’t broken. Water and Steel and arguably even Ghost are still better.
yeah they are broken as frick
>Defensively stellar. Immunity to Dragon, some good resistances and two of its weaknesses aren't know to be offensively generally
>Offensively is one of the best in the game. Hits 3 major typings 2x and pretty much hits like 80% of the metagame for strong netrual damage.
>Has the best spammable generic STAB move in the game
>Majority of Fairy types either having a crazy good dual typing, or hit really hard with sizable coverage.
>Steel/Fairy is arguably the best typing in the series. It's partially the reason why Zacian was over-whelming, Mega Mawile was absolutely terrifying, and Klefki and Tinkaton are very decent supports in lower tiers.
>Powercreep. They overturned as a counter to dragons. But that wasn't toned down next gen, and now we are in the same situation as we were with Dragons Gen 4~5.
I'd say Ghost is the best netrual attacking type (Dragapult is the beginning to why this sentiment exists) but as an overall typing its not as good as Fairy. Water definitely is a runner up and Steel is mostly just good with another typing since it's just good. But I wouldn't say Steel is offensively as strong as Fairy either.
Fairy the troony type is stupid and makes no sense for it's strengths They Just Made It to counter the OP types at the time which was fighting dragon and steel but it makes zero logical sense if fire electric and rock were the OP types they would make fairy good against those types
They actually put some logic in Fairy though.
Strengths:
>Dragons are vulnerable to Magic which Faes are magical beings that can harm them
>Fairy could be assumed to be originally Light, but probably it overlapped with Electric and there wasn't enough mons to fit it, so it was changed but kept the Light mechanic thus is why Dark is weak to Fairy
>Fighting is weak to Fairy, because Warriors classes are usually weak to Magic classes(hench why Fighting is also weak to Psychic which is a Hybrid between Magic and Mental Powers), also girly cooties are scary
Weaknesses:
>Iron is lethal to Faes in Myths, the closest Pokémon has is Steel
>Poison kills Nature which is where Faes draw their lifeforce in exchange killing Nature kills them
>But, they're Pink and Girly
Every type needs a common design and color theme(ex: Water is Blue and Aquatic, Fire is Red and Fiery, and Grass is Green and Plants), since Fighting is known as the Hero Boy type, so they made Fairy the Magical Girl type to be the counterpart, yes at first it was just mostly just Pink and Girly until they started adding actual Fae themes to them later.
People who think Fairy type is troony are low IQ and Gay.
it should’ve had one more weakness and no Bug resist
Name a weakness that is known about Faes?
I'm sorry, you've never read a Fairytale before
I'm sorry you just make shit up that doesn't make any sense
>He thinks it's made-up instead of actually researching on it
butterfly net :^)
Schizo headcanon the post
Good post
>fairy is brok-ACK!
Neither in vgc nor in mock-competitives is it particularly more relevant than other types
Lol every time fairycucks complain and have a tantrum when you suggest they should have an extra weakness and ignore that their effectiveness makes no sense
fairy is SE against dragon because dragons being slain in fairy tales is a common trope
fairy is SE against fighting because magic > brute strength
fairy is SE against dark because magic > underhanded techniques
fairy is weak to steel because fairies are weak to iron and nature gets ruined from industrialization
fairy is weak to poison because nature gets ruined from pollution
fairy is ineffective against fire because fairy relies on nature magic and fire easily damages nature
>dragons being slain in fairy tales is a common trope
The fairy doesn't do the dragon slaying you moron troon
But their magic does, even though indirectly it is still the Faes magic that is being used to slay the Dragon.
The fairy has nothing to do with it,
You can't kill a Dragon without an Enchantment which Faes can provide, most dragon slaying stories had the slaying weapon either enchanted by a witch or a fae.
So Dragon should be weak to Steel?
No.
Good answer.
>bugs moves are strong against magical special types like psychic and dark
>NOOOOO YOU CAN'T MAKE THEM STRONG AGAINST THE LITERAL MAGIC TYPE AAIIEEEEEEEEE
Fairy is nature based magic. Why would it be weak to common lifeforms found in nature?
>Fairy is [schizo headcanon]
Sylveon is named after the forest
also fairies look like little people with bug wings
so they shouldn’t be weak to Bug, but for balance’s sake they also shouldn’t resist Bug
Definitely benefits any type it gets paired with. Even Rock/Fairy is pretty damn great.
relevant fairy types (most broken type according to /vp/):
>Flutter Mane
>Ninetales
relevant ice types (worst type according to /vp/):
>Ninetales
>Chien-Pao
>Iron Bundle
>Baxcalibur
wow you're right clearly fairy needs a nerf
Bait
>wait no please stop noticing things
Fairy needs a fire weakness. I don't care if this makes fire even stronger. Being weak only to the least used defensive types is good in theory but horrible in practice. Plus it makes a lot more sense to me for dragons to be carrying fire moves as coverage instead of always needing poison jab or iron head.
More importantly, this would add a big chunky 4x weakness to the Fairy/Steel combo, which would do wonders for balance across the board.
Also, while fire is a prevalent, top tier type, I feel like lately it really gets overshadowed by ground and fighting. And rain is still pretty common to keep the damage in check, so I don't think this change would break fire type and make it completely overbearingly OP.
It also makes sense thematically and tons of fairy types actually look like they should be weak to fire.
>More importantly, this would add a big chunky 4x weakness to the Fairy/Steel combo, which would do wonders for balance across the board
mawile and tinkaton are already trash, bro
Yeah fire could use the buff and not be broken. It may have only 3 weaknesses but they're extremely bad weaknesses. Rock, ground, and water moves are everywhere.
I'm shocked that fairy hasn't received a nerf, they introduced an incredibly powerful type, everybody realized it was broken, and nothing was done about it to this day, crazy.
I agree with a lot of people that fairy should be weak to bug, bug needs something. Maybe even make fairy and dark both supereffective against each other.
>everybody realized it was broken
who? Campaigngays? No one who plays PvP thinks it’s broken.
steel, water, and ground are better than fairy but those four are all kind of in a league of their own. ground especially is just unstoppable and easily the best type.
