I started playing but I couldn't finish it before Elden Ring dropped and now I don't have that save file anymore. I think I made it all the way to the final boss, or at least who's advertised as the big bad in the manual, the wizard guy in the arena after the boss rush. I was blown away when I learned that From actually released a separate "game" that gave you unlimited use of the King's Field IP and let you develop and sell your own King's Field games, I've never heard of anything close to that before and the only "maker" game I knew that came from a big company was Mario Maker
The necromancer is not the final bad of KF2, it gets way more interesting after him.
To beat him you just have to hug his face because his projectile spell spam will frick you.
Yeah his attacks were a lot more overwhelming than anything I remember fighting before, and with no terrain to use to my advantage I couldn't find any maneuvers that worked. I'll probably go back to it and finish eventually, I had fun despite everything

That's how most soulslikes work, the only advancement made is when you frick up it's usually a skill check, rather than losing a series of dice rolls.
