I love EVE and believe the only reason Ganker doesn't play it is because it doesn't have tranime breasts and e-girls even though it is everything they supposedly ask for in an MMO

It's ambient and I have no fricking idea.
They released soundtrack albums 10+ years ago but those tracks do not reflect the good ambient music in-game today.
They have also released more of their music on streaming services, but it's thousands of tracks and I ain't gonna trawl through that.

        Anonymous

Very important to note that the music has gone through a few overhauls but track names were often retained, so if you look up what someone suggests you are more likely to find a shitter version from yesteryear than the good stuff.

The music was a huge part of the experience and they ruined it also. They have no concept of what was good about the original experience. Instead of building off of what they had, they made things worse for everyone.

I've been out of it for a while but I thought it has been dwindling for years, with of course it's dedicated (but pretty small) playerbase. I wish there was an Eve-lite of some sort. Too true. It was fun for a little while. I eventually joined a WH group and we did some level 5 sites or whatever and that funded my sub for a while, but then I realized I was only logging on just to grind for my sub and nothing else, so I just stopped. The PVP was just too scattered.
All my shit is still in that WH, not sure how, when, or even if I'll ever get it out. Especially since I'd have to pay for a sub to do it.

They could've made the game in to something amazing, but they dumped money into bullshit fps slop and financial advisors, instead of of content and gameplay. If you hated middled-spergs subhumans in 2010 -- ccccp still caters to them in 2024. Because they're moronic Icelanders and have nothing else left to grift off of after all their incredibly moronic endeavors.

Aesthetic wise its peak comfy, but its been P2W for a while now, and its funny how many of its mechanics that were praised for being unique in the MMO space (time gated skill training which can be skipped if you pay, buying money through the in game economy with PLEX) are now eerily similar to mobile P2W games. It just took better games to come out for people to realize it.

  11. 2 weeks ago
    Anonymous

The game has been 100% P2W for years and anyone saying otherwise is coping hard. The core gameplay is fun for a few hours but eventually it just devolves into spinning ships while waiting for something remotely interesting to happen.

Ganker and Ganker as a whole are disneyland in comparison. It's just aging assburgers types of people who have multiple account that have literal command consoles irl to just make other players' lives miserable through one of their multiple characters. >one of the biggest MMORPGs
I see this lie constantly being pushed by ignorant people and by the devs.
What everyone fails to footnote this with is - multiboxing. For those that don't know,
multiboxing is when 1 player plays multiple accounts, and they all have to be payed for.
This is being heavily incentivised both by player and the developers.
So considering multiboxers on average have 5 accounts, the actual number of unique players
    is actually quite lower.

      Anonymous

All you need to look at is the player count
It usually hovers at around 20k daily, and if we count that there's a bunch of multiboxers...
      Yeah
There's a reason CCP has been fully into trying to draw newbies in over the years and creating moronic trash like FPS games

        Anonymous

        >trash like FPS games
yeah I saw right through it, and honestly I can't really blame them.
They know very well their situation, that they are being carried by paypigs from null and if one player leaves it's on average 5 accounts no more paying money. Sure the game might not die, but it's not really growing either, it's in this constant stagnation.

Not fair. It was unique for the time, had good music initially and had cool looking ships. It was the playerbase and the pandering to what eventually became subhumans that ruins the experience post 2000s for anyone that wasn't a player back then.

        >Not fair.
How is it not fair? Well ok, maybe it's not fair for the game it once was.
But let's be real, your own post says that that feel is in the past.
It's still one of a kind game, but honestly, that no longer carries it out.
And uniqueness for it's own sake worth nothing.

  19. 2 weeks ago
    Anonymous

The most atomic, fundamental part of it isn't fun.

Like the shooting stuff, flying, mining, scanning, it's all this really weird and dated and shallow (but sometimes "complex" but in the sense of a bunch of shallow shit bolted on with no real depth) mechanics.
I mean at the end of the day 90% of what you do is some variation of auto-attacking.

The only thrill in the game comes from the possibility that you can be attacked and have your stuff taken.
But because you can lose your stuff, if you succeed at a given thing that costs a given amount to attempt, the successful attempt will probably pay for you to be able to lose 20 more ships like the one you used to succeed.
The only place this doesn't hold true is PvP; PvP.
And the PvP is very bad, because of a lot of factors, but I don't really want to delve into it but basically it comes down to the fact people can choose who they fight.

Eve is a great game held back by the developers catering almost exclusively to the worst part of the game and the worst players of the game. CCP's insistence that everything boils down to some form of PvP has simply enabled a lot of shitty behavior from the playerbase which has in turn stifled the growth of the game, which has then caused those players to act even more like shitheads because they have nothing better to do.
Nullsec fricking SUCKS, but CCP refuses to rock the boat in any significant way, meanwhile almost every other part of the game gets literally zero development, huge projects from years ago just never get finished because CCP is budy doing yet another nullsec rework, meanwhile Wormholes haven't had an update in 8 years and mechanics like Incursions were just never even finished after their introduction 10+ years ago.

Also, CCP consistently designed the game to benefit multiboxers which is just aids.

EVE died for another reason. Modern player needs action, constant chaos happening in his life: fricking some hoes, fighting, flying ships very fast. And EVE is like "oh a pirate on a Cynabal". You LOOK FOR A FIGHT for 3 hours or a whole day, then you get 1 second of euphoria but more commonly despair, because you were camped by 10 dudes on the other side of the gate. Modern players needs dopamine rush NOW NOW NOW, and a lot of it, that's why everything is so sexualized and perverted now too. EVE can't keep up with that, also costs a lot of money to play, especially with recent shit when players from Russia and Venezuela can't even play.

Its In maintenance mode, most devs left and the one still In don't know how to operate most of the code, the game run on an non updated language, stackless python. they can't develop any new feature without taking years, the game Is very stale due to this.

this lack of dev also hurt a lot on the game design, as the people in charge don't understand at all their game and the core Issue plaguing It for years. one example is marauder that still do capital ship tier damage without drawback and didn't got nerfed yet, despite them making others subcapital useless in all scenario.

lastly they started to recruit a lot of ex players In their teams to fill the ranks and It became obvious that they frick It up internally for their own benefit, the """tournament""" scene Is garbage since they started to get new employes. to works on it.

at last, the players are also to be blamed to a degree for abusing ccp moronness, multiboxing and people not taking fight to save space pixels as never been that big for no reasons

      >one example is marauder that still do capital ship tier damage without drawback and didn't got nerfed yet
Marauders never did Capital tier damage and were in fact nerfed several times. Marauders are extremely niche and usually just used by null blobs to chase people out of ESS's and farming C5 Wormholes.
I have Marauders V on 2 characters but rarely get a chance to use them. I use a Leshak more often, Marauders are just too risky since they doubled the Bastion timer.

hilmar (ccp ceo) alway wanted a fps for some reason, that like the 5th attempt they made.

I gave It a go, they push It a lot, even selling special sub pack for the duration of the various test phase when they release. they communicate a lot, with skins and ladder etc..

the game Itself Is an extraction shooter, with only two weapon, a rifle and a pistol, and on enemy type. the game only had a single map at the first phase, and only one type of objective, collecting data item on the map, another objective Is on the way since, mining.the (2) weapons customizations is planned for early 2025, your gun have no scope or anything.

they push It like Its a beta at the very least, but Its in a internal demo state so far, It has no content, I assume they put everything on the "woah" effect when you launch It first as the hull of the ship on the map Is indeed beautiful and you can visit It, but it worn off super quickly, the gunplay is dull as frick, they pushed the same amount of content (ie 0) that they do for EVE but that a fps not a shitty p2w mmo.

after toying for a few hours, I realized they didn't put an unistaller. It released 4 months after the first phase. they also backed from the extraction shooter aspect after it got criticized, they have no vision for this game nor passion as nobody release a shooter with two weapons. Its likely doomed

Among other things, I feel like the whole "EVE is a cutthroat game where everyone wants to stab you in the back" did more damage to the game than anything else. Also the blatant Goon pandering.

      Anonymous

      >"EVE is a cutthroat game where everyone wants to stab you in the back" did more damage to the game than anything else
It really did, because ultimately in the game you're at a massive advantage if you're the one throwing the first punch. So you have players who will always jump you but never engage in an even fight, it's a particular type of risk aversion that is super offputting to new players because the majority of their PvP is them getting mugged when they were helpless and never getting a chance to shoot back.
This was encapsulated years ago when people would camp lowsec/highsec gates, except they would have an alt in an Orca sitting on the gate - If they were ever losing a fight, they would scoop their ship into the Orca then just jump into Highsec. It took YEARS for that to be patched out.

Well said. Risk aversion is deeply entrenched into the average seasoned player's psyche that it brings the whole game down with it. The last time I had genuine fun was at that frigate-only FFA that this guy organizes every year

I roam null solo regularly and it's gotten to the point I have to inject new alts just to get fights, because nullbears have tools that look up my killboard automatically and tell them I'm a threat so they dock up. They either don't contest when I steal the ESS bank or they undock a full fleet of Marauders. They feed like morons every time I inject a fresh alt though. Conceptually fun, but in practice it's dull to play unless you're an extremely specific kind of nerd. Even if you actively enjoy the various gameplay loops there's only so many times you can run L4s and L5s before you want to have a nice day. If you somehow manage to find an active corporation that frequently runs activities you'll have a lot more fun but that is frankly almost impossible.

I still "play" EVE in the sense that I normally have a pair of accounts mining belts in highsec in a Covetor and an Iteron V and another idling through L4s in my Paladin but I spend maybe 80-90% of game time tabbed out and actively playing something else. It's just shit I do on my other monitors.

It's a chain of 52 missions that covers pretty much everything you'd normally be expected to do in game. If you can get to the end without hating the game it's probably worth digging deeper in to it.

    >No real space simulation whatsoever
    >attacking someone(or thing) is just "click the target press f1, f2, f3 to activate skill" just like in wow
    >how fast you interact with the ui IS somehow meta
    >All game-play is just mouse clicks and UI button clicks.
    >Even the warping can only be done by move A-B-C-D in a straight line.

I think it would have been fun in the 2000s. But in 2024, this is a remnant of a bygone era.

calculating yours and the other guy's trajectory, size, speed and weapon range/tracking is more cerebral and engaging than "my sword skill is 68, your defence skill is 53 therefore my attacks always hit as long as I am next to you"

none of that can actually deny my point about game play being is centered around mouse clicks and UI button clicks, it feels weak as frick and not entertaining unless you are out of touch boomer. also kys

your point doesn't make sense because you imply clicking the UI is a bad thing without really explaining why

How are people so clueless about this game? Just get a cheap ship and go out to shoot Black folk. It's probably the best PvP experience you can get in an MMO.

You chose very ironic picture given your take on pvp. But I doubt you were aware of it when you typed that shit out.

nobody play on steam due to how limiting steam Is, only beginners and those who actually invest in the game switch to the ccp launchers.

altough If everybody could rate It on steam the ratting would had been bombed various time

eve is a fine game if you are willing to pay

if not the free2play populace suffers a dramatically gimped experience that made me uninstall due to the various restrictions

if they made a non shit version i would attempt again

the gm team are propper sjw Black person cultist and banned the fun and pvp engaging people, only people left are sjw hypocrit who blue you in an heartbeat, resulting in 2bloc statu quo

Tishu/GigX/Stunt are some great example of people being banned for no reasons and that removed actual chaos elements that didn't hesitated to provoke change through violence, leading to the must fun content I had In this game

I think eve is easily the best mmo especially since a lot of the fun comes from interacting with people and being in a corp is more than just some give/take thing. Adding to that my career as a spai was the most entertaining gameplay experience i've ever had
I did just come back after a few years of eve after giving all my shit away and i've got to say the grind is still boring as frick, I'm still trying to decide if I want to keep playing the game as whilst I really enjoy the PVP it's kinda tricky to get in to.

Every years, ccp Is helding a tournament for esport wannabe to show off, this event Is well know as you can win limited edition ship unique to each years by being ranked good enough, they sell for very big money, one sale can pay your sub with plex for many years, or a full fit titan and its fit.

last years, the newly hired baboon "CCP Zelus"(who Is an actual players from the game, this will matter after) did various change to the prize distribution methods, the main change was to directly seed the limited ship directly Into a designed player hangar, instead of contracting him using the contract system in game, also they didn't bother to create a special limited blueprint this years unlike the previous years, but directly the ship.

It may seem harmless, but by doing this he removed two safeguards.

what happened next, zelus distributed prize, "randomly" between either the designated captain of each team, or the executive of the alliance, which was the rule before It got changed a few years ago. this meant he didn't respected the indication given by aproximatly half the teams, as a lot of them want prize directly delivered to the captain.

now with all of this, zelus delivered to the executive of a team, despite them telling them multiple time that the exec was AFK, and It was the previous captain that transfered his power to someone else due to IRL.

he also announced change In distribution while doing It, the ex captain reloged due to being spammed by his corpmate, and clicked the first contract notification that appeared.

It was a scam contract (a shit ui meant to confuse players, only used to frick up noob), he didn't know that the ship were already seeded in his hangar and they were gone.

zelus didn't answered a single time to them, his actual character on te serveur Is in an alliance who (SEDITION.) who hate the scammed alliance (JUTSU) since years, ccp didn't gave a frick.

i'l just add that at least he was moronic enough to miss us RMTing out

    >try the game
    >Beautiful graphics and gorgeous soundtrack
    >See there are skills you have to level
    >The skills are a timed gatekeep and you need subscription to really play the game
    >Leveling the skills in the background is like 6 months
    >Close game
Who plays this shit? If you like manipulating people just make a discord account and get free stuff from losers.

I played it for years, did a lot of stuff and had a lot of fun but quit even before the devs started selling skill points or whatever the frick they're doing. I still think it stands out among mmos in the variety of shit you can do and I wish any of those edgy full loot pvp companies would even put in half of the tools eve gives you to make pvp consensual but I just stopped caring about eve itself. Red Fed best fed, Blue Rep okay I guess.

I won EVE back in 2017 as I was unhappy with the direction CCP was taking things with skill extractors and sov. I can see from this thread that I won't be returning any time soon.

Last time I played I joined horde and signed up for a class in horde that teaches you the basics of playing with the corp.
The instructor was a drunk and or high troony that became incompacitated and stopped responding not far in to the class.

People here are saying it's not pay to win are stupid because if someone spends 1k to do something it takes a normal person a long amount if time to do the whale obviouzly is at an advantage.
Not all whales are noobs who can't play. Those who suck and waste their money will learn not to.

And in war, the side with more whales will obviously have a resource advantage as logistics/resources are so important in wars.

With the 20 usd sub price, I'd rather not play, the company is asking for more than anyone else without also providing content to justify the price.

I've read some people calling this game - game of credit cards or game with wars of credit cards, but you get idea.
And it makes sense given ccp's hunger for money and how they actively encourage multiboxing.
