That's GOOD. You get to know the levels like the back of your hand (which also gives you a lot better sense of atmosphere)-
But this also goes to show how effort Adrian and co. put into this game and how clever it is; that every area of the environment is set up in such a fashion that every type of enemy in the game can be featured there. That must have took a lot of designing.
And the enemy variety is pretty damn amazing for an early access game.
Every enemy type is a humanoid, and I'd argue the grenadiers don't belong in tight chokepoints especially when they spawn in large packs. This has to be bait.

My point was fitting enemies of the same type in a large playable space is not challenging or a work of genius. If sections of the map were actually well designed or enemies stood out like giants waiting above cliffs to ambush you, for example, that would be notable but as of right now there isn't a reason to play each map more than once. These aren't acceptable single player levels especially on such a small scale.

In my experience the game is pretty well-designed in the regard that enemies are quite varied and give you a hard time from both close and long range. And it's pretty hard too, it will take me a long-ass time just to beat the first area. But the way you feel like you are gradually learning everything and getting better, thinking about builds and gameplay styles and stuff is pretty good.

It only took half an hour to realize leveling is a perpetual treadmill where enemies will outscale your equipment if you aren't stagnating and grinding out kills. You can beat the first area in the first few runs if you research one specific thing and immediately jump in the hole and DPS him down.

It already is empty, moron. Dark Souls leveling doesn't fit, you're complaining about stats but that's exactly what it is on the player's end. Increasing your health or stamina isn't necessary to reach the win state nor is it interesting. Researching arcana is detrimental because you are diluting the potential pool that might increase your success that run. Walking in circles for hours to open chests at identical spawn points isn't an engaging gameplay loop. If you have fun playing the same fricking map for the next 6 months don't let me stop you.

I've played up until level 25 on launch day and finished both maps before uninstalling because there were other games to play the next day. The "variety" doesn't change the objective or the actions you take to get there. The wandering ghost is basically a free key drop that dies in 4-5 headshots and the traps are completely avoidable. Grenadiers are kind of annoying and around level 20 or so the witch sends endless cataclysm events after you if you gain her attention. I'm saying this from the perspective of experiencing a big chunk of the game, that these systems are a miss and they'll probably get ripped out entirely and replaced with something else.
>it's a roguelite and the roguelite elements are driving me to frustration
What exactly are the roguelite elements in Witchfire, according to you? Progression is way closer to Dark Souls imo
>Game balanced around runs >Random buffs for current run >Progressive unlocking of features and content
At least I appreciate that you have some freedom to pick what gear or stuff you get first >Customizable loadout for each run >Random ecounters and events
That's basically it, the runs.
Its basically a paid demo at this point.
I'd call it a preorder. Sure, you can talk to devs but I strongly believe that listening to players is a mistake
>Why is listening to players is a mistake?
Xenonauts 2.
you know, i kinda like this structure
end goal is to kill the boss (which is shit right now btw)
and you could just run to him as fast as possible
or you could hunt a few easy encouters to get some perks to help you out
grinding is enjoyable since there is stuff you need to do to get to the portal and then side shit that could kill you for greater reward
shooting is slow and more methodical, you cant just snipe with your machine gun from an insane range wchich would be the boring optimal startegy
instead of randomly generated rooms which start repeating after 2 hours you have maps composed of different arenas that different types of mobs can spawn on
people like to b***h and moan about that but really, if it was the standard generated shit they would b***h about it more because it just doent work for an fps
i would like to see some more movement tech, it could even be region locked so for an instance in the castle level you get a grappling hook and in the monastery there are bells that distract enemies or something
overall its solid, if a bit unbalanced
i played hades when it came out on EA and it was much te same, half of the regions and mechanics, with questionable balance but solid foundations
to everyone whos assmad about this, i dont get why youure so invested in a game that tim paid for you and is some 2 years from release
just go play doom eternal like a megahomosexual and just calm down ye?
why do gay people always have to be offended at shit
>or you could hunt a few easy encouters to get some perks to help you out
This remind me about how the game bottlenecks you in a high-tier encounter until you grind a couple of levels and get enough tools to deal with high-tier events.
I don't thnk anyone will complain about the combat or weapons/tools, they nailed that part. It's just the general structure that is not very appealing.
Every enemy type is a humanoid, and I'd argue the grenadiers don't belong in tight chokepoints especially when they spawn in large packs. This has to be bait.
Yes, so far all the enemies I've seen are humanoids but they are quite different between them and have a good synergy. Usually that is the hard part to get right in a FPS.

i cleared a difficult encouter on my 3rd run, and the game didnt force it on me
its probably rng
i think the biggest mistake the game makes in terms of difficulty is not giving you a second gun from the start, since thats the thing you really need
i think the upgrade system is going to get overholled anyway, since just dying like a b***h 5 times is enough to pass the time untill another unlock the game must run out of them earlier than a bad player learns the game
>you can't master encounters in regular roguelites
That's absolute bullshit. Gradually learning how to defeat bosses and other tough enemies is pretty common in roguelites.
It looks great
It's really well optimized
But it's clear they have no idea what kind of fricking game it's supposed to be, whatever moron on the team kept saying "durrrrrrrrhhh what if it was like dark souls" should be shot
>it's clear they have no idea what kind of fricking game it's supposed to be
This. I forced myself to play it again to level up. I might play it until I get to the second map but so far it's a huge letdown. If I want some fun looting and shooting I might as well go back to Remnant 2
Yeah game might be better if they had just copypasted the Remnant progression system with unique gear and traits you can find but with their current FPS combat and in a small open world with extraction.
Most people complaining for some reason just can’t imagine fps without corridor levels and game mechanics no different from early 00s shooters. Like same shit happened with Doom Eternal. It’s the most mechanically dense shooter in recent years and people just hate the gameplay depth it offers. Just because it’s a shooter doesn’t mean every game has to be a spectacular power phantasy where every player regardless of skill and game awareness is unstoppable killing machine.
>is it actually bad or is Ganker just having one of those moments?
It's not a bad game (considering it's a prototype). It is just that I feel like it could have been much, much better.
https://gofile.io/d/56rKoh

This is the first version, the game has been already patched but, you know, it's an early access anyway.
I agree. It could have been so much more than a roguelite-lite.
What are the chances they get enough funding to make a sequel that is a more traditional story-focused FPS?
At current version you can't turn off most of that shit (they are considering it for next updates IIRC) but if you tweak the graphical settings you can make it slightly less anowing. Maybe fricking around with the configuration files can delete that stuff but I don't know how doable is this on Unreal games.
That the homosexuals sold out to ebin store is the cream on top. I remember the butthurt it generated in Adrian's ass when people complained about damage numbers and health bars.

Your post is perfect example of why most gamers are full on morons.
The devs said clearly that the deal with ESG gave them the financial freedom to put their 12 people studio to work without the pressure of a deadline or having to sell part of the company.
>The devs said clearly
I don't care what they said. I don't even know why they did it. The only thing that matters to me is the availability of a game and when they play the console waiting-game on PC I simply won't bother with it anymore. >gamers
Stop using marketing buzzwords, woman (male).
You sure are butthurt enough. Keep being a defeatist and comply to like the good little "gamer" you are. >they went there because they needed money! >they didn't really need your money in the first place
Keep it up, Adrian.
reminder they wasted SEVEN years on this and it is STILL in early access >DUUUR WE WANT DARK SOULS AND DESTINY AUDIENCE
maybe fricking release it first polish homosexuals
Talking about Destiny, how is the "free" version? I'm thinking in giving it a try. As long as it is just Borderlands but good, I'm sold (assuming I can play it solo, I can't stand playing with randoms on the internet)
Its been years since I played but definitely not "borderlands butgood" (unless you like Destiny then idk) and you can experience the story solo, but basically everything else is done with randos
The way the guns handle and the way they work on enemies in Destiny to a fricking tee.
Destiny has the absolute best-feeling guns in its genre, as well as the best-designed enemies in the genre (gameplay-wise, certainly). That's what matters to me, not the method in which you acquire loot.
I'm glad there is finally a game that plays exactly like Destiny that I can play ON MY OWN, WITHOUT AN INTERNET CONNECTION, that also doesn't try to manipulate me into playing it by putting a fricking timer on its content. The game's theme is interesting too; so, the game is already pretty great.
We can agree that destiny is shit while also saying that it has the most fun gunplay in any game. It's not precise and has bullet magnetism but it scratches the fantasy shooter itch which no other game has been able to do since destiny, until now.

It's out now? Haven't heard anything about it in a while. Kind of lost interest after it has been in dev hell for so long and they clearly had no idea what they wanted from the game. Earlier concepts seemed far more interesting. Might give it a pirate later.
>people were mad about Tarkov for not being just STALKER >Tarkov is now unironically more liked, bigger, and more influential than STALKER will ever be
I dont care for Witchfire, but stop being mad about a game for not being what you wanted it to be. Either open your mind to what they are doing different, or stop caring about it.

Fps fans are the most braindead morons mostly. All they want is run and gun. This is why there are so many successful boomer shooters lately. Meanwhile somewhat innovative shooters like Deadlink and Witchfire fall into obscurity. This is the audience you get when people still praise original Doom and demand every fps to use it as a template.
>Get ready to put a sizable dent in the profits of megacorporations in Deadlink, a guns-blazing cyberpunk FPS with roguelite elements
Treadmill is innovation, got it.
>All they want is run and gun.
there's a lot of variation that can be implemented in 'running and gunning' >Meanwhile somewhat innovative shooters like Deadlink and Witchfire fall into obscurity
how are they exactly innovative?
>roguelite >innovative
They could have chosen to create a singleplayer campaign and a story to expand on the world they created which does seem pretty cool but instead they chose the easy route and created procedurally generated rogue lite homosexualry.
this game is better in the sense that you can run straight to the final boss, not having to grind all previous encounters over and over just to find yourself with barely any hp on the final encounter, no matter how many perks you had at that point like hades done it
yes i am not culturally relevant because i am not a video game with influence, neither is witchfire

well yes
i always hated boomer shooters because theyre the most braindead type of game there is
and there are so many of them now its unreal
i dont understand how those people still play them, the market is saturated to such an extreme its silly
differences between them range from "sliding does damage to enemies" to "shotgun has an alt fire"
and yes, every time you see something different that wasnt specifically advertised as "the same formula you love but with a twist" like doom eternal it gets shit for every change it dares to make
deadlink is tiring to me though, even though i think its elegantly designed
i dont like games that force you to use your "kit" every time the timer on a skill ends, too spastic
yes, now

At least I appreciate that you have some freedom to pick what gear or stuff you get first
>Customizable loadout for each run
>Random ecounters and events
That's basically it, the runs.
I'd call it a preorder. Sure, you can talk to devs but I strongly believe that listening to players is a mistake
Why is listening to players is a mistake? You always want to know how other people view your game.
>Why is listening to players is a mistake?
Xenonauts 2.
>or you could hunt a few easy encouters to get some perks to help you out
This remind me about how the game bottlenecks you in a high-tier encounter until you grind a couple of levels and get enough tools to deal with high-tier events.
I don't thnk anyone will complain about the combat or weapons/tools, they nailed that part. It's just the general structure that is not very appealing.
Yes, so far all the enemies I've seen are humanoids but they are quite different between them and have a good synergy. Usually that is the hard part to get right in a FPS.
i cleared a difficult encouter on my 3rd run, and the game didnt force it on me
its probably rng
i think the biggest mistake the game makes in terms of difficulty is not giving you a second gun from the start, since thats the thing you really need
i think the upgrade system is going to get overholled anyway, since just dying like a b***h 5 times is enough to pass the time untill another unlock the game must run out of them earlier than a bad player learns the game
>roguelite
Why? Thats just lazy. I thought it was going to be a singleplayer fps like doom.
>you can't master encounters in regular roguelites
That's absolute bullshit. Gradually learning how to defeat bosses and other tough enemies is pretty common in roguelites.
It looks great
It's really well optimized
But it's clear they have no idea what kind of fricking game it's supposed to be, whatever moron on the team kept saying "durrrrrrrrhhh what if it was like dark souls" should be shot
>it's clear they have no idea what kind of fricking game it's supposed to be
This. I forced myself to play it again to level up. I might play it until I get to the second map but so far it's a huge letdown. If I want some fun looting and shooting I might as well go back to Remnant 2
based moron
Yeah game might be better if they had just copypasted the Remnant progression system with unique gear and traits you can find but with their current FPS combat and in a small open world with extraction.
so it's a looter shooter, ok.
It isn't. Fricking stop!!!
so it's a looter shooter, got it.
.
so it's a looter shooter, period
Your mom's pussy is a looter shooter.
so it's a looter shooter, roger
is 'looter shooter' an euphemism for a Black person?
Trying too hard to fit in, mongoloid.
Most people complaining for some reason just can’t imagine fps without corridor levels and game mechanics no different from early 00s shooters. Like same shit happened with Doom Eternal. It’s the most mechanically dense shooter in recent years and people just hate the gameplay depth it offers. Just because it’s a shooter doesn’t mean every game has to be a spectacular power phantasy where every player regardless of skill and game awareness is unstoppable killing machine.
>complaining about early access
it's not finished, dopey
I don't see how they will improve the roguelite elements to the point it will change my mind.
>machine guns
>in a medieval fantasy game
You should like this, Ganker, it's a Christian game.
It's supposed to be late XIX but fantasy. You can even see a car in the intro.
C*tholicism is not Christianity.
True, it's less overtly nazi than protestantism.
is it actually bad or is Ganker just having one of those moments?
that sounds cool though
>is it actually bad or is Ganker just having one of those moments?
It's not a bad game (considering it's a prototype). It is just that I feel like it could have been much, much better.
>$39.99
Timmy paid for your copy.
Though you have to be braindead to even pirate this trash.
They won't be able to fix it and since it's Unreal it can't be modded to be good either.
has it been cracked yet?
Yes some anon posted a link in a previous thread. May post it later, I'm not at my pc right now.

This is the first version, the game has been already patched but, you know, it's an early access anyway.
thanks
>chinkreal engine asset flip slop
>epic chink botnet exclusive
kill thyselves, shills
do your fricking job trannitors, worthless ugly freaks
I agree. It could have been so much more than a roguelite-lite.
What are the chances they get enough funding to make a sequel that is a more traditional story-focused FPS?
Get hit, screen gets covered in vomit.
Low stamina, screen covered in vomit.
HIGH stamina, screen again covered in vomit because why not.
What is wrong with the devs, is it really so bad to know what the frick is going on the screen?
At current version you can't turn off most of that shit (they are considering it for next updates IIRC) but if you tweak the graphical settings you can make it slightly less anowing. Maybe fricking around with the configuration files can delete that stuff but I don't know how doable is this on Unreal games.
>get hit
>health bar goes down but nothing else changes
Perfection…. A pinnacle of game design.
Just like in real life.
>Poland fricks up again
Has the country become too western?
That the homosexuals sold out to ebin store is the cream on top. I remember the butthurt it generated in Adrian's ass when people complained about damage numbers and health bars.
https://web.archive.org/web/20200228034239/https://www.theastronauts.com/2020/02/damage-numbers-and-health-bars-why/
I'm sure they must be kicking themselves over losing your support.
>+10 cents
You sure are butthurt enough. Keep being a defeatist and comply to like the good little "gamer" you are.
>they went there because they needed money!
>they didn't really need your money in the first place
Keep it up, Adrian.
>12 people studio
i honestly though this was supposed to be a medium-big sized production.
they should have gone for something on a smaller scale
reminder they wasted SEVEN years on this and it is STILL in early access
>DUUUR WE WANT DARK SOULS AND DESTINY AUDIENCE
maybe fricking release it first polish homosexuals
Talking about Destiny, how is the "free" version? I'm thinking in giving it a try. As long as it is just Borderlands but good, I'm sold (assuming I can play it solo, I can't stand playing with randoms on the internet)
Its been years since I played but definitely not "borderlands butgood" (unless you like Destiny then idk) and you can experience the story solo, but basically everything else is done with randos
Fricking awful, like the paid one
Mad at what? I haven't spent this much time with a shooter in quite a while.
I's legit the single player Destiny that I have been waiting for!
How? The fixed gear and the abscence of vehicles already makes it not-Destiny. Oh and the enemies are not bullet sponges.
Runs super fricking great on my Steam Deck, too.
>Destiny has the absolute best-feeling guns in its genre, as well as the best-designed enemies in the genre
lmfao
We can agree that destiny is shit while also saying that it has the most fun gunplay in any game. It's not precise and has bullet magnetism but it scratches the fantasy shooter itch which no other game has been able to do since destiny, until now.
>We can agree that destiny is shit while also saying that it has the most fun gunplay in any game
No we cannot.
Destiny was always shit in part of its enemies and gunplay, people just pin it on its monetization
It's wrong to call it free to play, it's a demo. It's baffling in terms of story and what you are supposed to do, and you have frick all real content.
meant for
It's out now? Haven't heard anything about it in a while. Kind of lost interest after it has been in dev hell for so long and they clearly had no idea what they wanted from the game. Earlier concepts seemed far more interesting. Might give it a pirate later.
>people were mad about Tarkov for not being just STALKER
>Tarkov is now unironically more liked, bigger, and more influential than STALKER will ever be
I dont care for Witchfire, but stop being mad about a game for not being what you wanted it to be. Either open your mind to what they are doing different, or stop caring about it.
Good bait
The Epic black hole of visibility is probably going to kill any long term success for this, hope getting the chink money now was worth it.
They'll just launch on Steam later and make even more money.
Its basically a paid demo at this point.
EGS seethers are so pathetic. Just don't buy the game if you hate the store so much instead of crying about it.
I'll just shit on EGS WHILE not buying those games. Eat shit, homosexual.
Yeah I'm sure you screeching into the void is going to make devs stop taking free money. moron.
I'm sure your shilling will eventually give you some sense of selfworth. Certainly won't net you financial compensation.
you know, i kinda like this structure
end goal is to kill the boss (which is shit right now btw)
and you could just run to him as fast as possible
or you could hunt a few easy encouters to get some perks to help you out
grinding is enjoyable since there is stuff you need to do to get to the portal and then side shit that could kill you for greater reward
shooting is slow and more methodical, you cant just snipe with your machine gun from an insane range wchich would be the boring optimal startegy
instead of randomly generated rooms which start repeating after 2 hours you have maps composed of different arenas that different types of mobs can spawn on
people like to b***h and moan about that but really, if it was the standard generated shit they would b***h about it more because it just doent work for an fps
i would like to see some more movement tech, it could even be region locked so for an instance in the castle level you get a grappling hook and in the monastery there are bells that distract enemies or something
overall its solid, if a bit unbalanced
i played hades when it came out on EA and it was much te same, half of the regions and mechanics, with questionable balance but solid foundations
to everyone whos assmad about this, i dont get why youure so invested in a game that tim paid for you and is some 2 years from release
just go play doom eternal like a megahomosexual and just calm down ye?
why do gay people always have to be offended at shit
Fps fans are the most braindead morons mostly. All they want is run and gun. This is why there are so many successful boomer shooters lately. Meanwhile somewhat innovative shooters like Deadlink and Witchfire fall into obscurity. This is the audience you get when people still praise original Doom and demand every fps to use it as a template.
>Get ready to put a sizable dent in the profits of megacorporations in Deadlink, a guns-blazing cyberpunk FPS with roguelite elements
Treadmill is innovation, got it.
deadlink is cool but don't pretend like pure run and gun aren't fun either moron, it doesn't take being stupid to prefer those
>All they want is run and gun.
there's a lot of variation that can be implemented in 'running and gunning'
>Meanwhile somewhat innovative shooters like Deadlink and Witchfire fall into obscurity
how are they exactly innovative?
Roguelites are one of the least innovative, lowest effort genres, moron.
QRD on Deadlink? May pirate later.
i really wish somebody would make a proper Doom 3.
>roguelite
>innovative
They could have chosen to create a singleplayer campaign and a story to expand on the world they created which does seem pretty cool but instead they chose the easy route and created procedurally generated rogue lite homosexualry.
Just played Deadlink demo. After the first run it made me apprecoate Witchfire more.
this game is better in the sense that you can run straight to the final boss, not having to grind all previous encounters over and over just to find yourself with barely any hp on the final encounter, no matter how many perks you had at that point like hades done it
>egs
aaaaaaaaaand culturally irrelevant
just like your brainfart of a post
yes i am not culturally relevant because i am not a video game with influence, neither is witchfire
egs should shut down, early access has always been bad and every game that fricked around on egs before releasing on steam turned out shit or charged top dollar anyway
Hades is form egs early access
i know youre going to say its shit but i just want you to know youre a massive coping moron if you do
That's why Hades is the only supergiant games I didn't played, frick this early access bullshit.
its out
its done
moron
its finished
no more updates
are you assmad about earaly access even when its fricking over?
why?
are you mad that other people playtested the game for you so its better once you get it in your hands?
does that make you mad somehow?
i dont fricking understand
well yes
i always hated boomer shooters because theyre the most braindead type of game there is
and there are so many of them now its unreal
i dont understand how those people still play them, the market is saturated to such an extreme its silly
differences between them range from "sliding does damage to enemies" to "shotgun has an alt fire"
and yes, every time you see something different that wasnt specifically advertised as "the same formula you love but with a twist" like doom eternal it gets shit for every change it dares to make
deadlink is tiring to me though, even though i think its elegantly designed
i dont like games that force you to use your "kit" every time the timer on a skill ends, too spastic
it shouldn't have been successful
why?
because it enabled platform exclusivity on pc
its on steam and consoles
only now
yes, now
and it got popular by coming out on steam and consoles
where is your exclusivity?
explain why youre angry
nobody bought it on egs
it was on egs as a trial period, which isnt as fun as the finished product
whats the issue mongoloid?
speak
>where is your exclusivity?
in the history books, where it shows that the developer enabled that cancerous practice
so, timed exclusivity
for a time you dont want the product in
wow, shocking
ever heard about consoles?
supergiant hasn't made a good game since bastion, regardless of however many goy of the year awards hades got.
the graphics stink, they lack direction. wheres fricking gore?
>"from the creators of Painkiller and Bulletstorm"
>It's literally a singleplayer Destiny clone
>It's in early access
>It's on Epic Shill Store
Wake me up when Adrian and the rest of these hacks release it on Steam at 60% discount
>Epic Games exclusive
Wow, free game! Thanks Timmy!
