The denomination of "beastman" refers to races that are barely civilized compared to the human races of Eorzea. The japanese name for beastmen translates more to "barbarians" or "savages" rather than something akin to a beast like in the English translation.
Hrothgars are anything but uncivilized considering they have a kingdom and came up with sword-guns that shoot aether.
I think EE mention that Eorzeans originally thought they were beastmen but that belief got dispelled quickly after a few exchanges.

On first meeting the hroths, they immediately tried to pull the same card, but then had to quickly retract it when they found out that they actually have a gigantic city with advanced technology in a naturally protected area and, basically, they can't bully them around but will still benefit from trade. Beastmen didn't begin to summon primals until very recently, they were massacred for being different for centuries before that
In terms of mit, DRK are noticeably worse than the other tanks. I say this as a healer who has to blow my ogcds on the drk when they take a lot of autos, and I do not for other tanks.
This isn't an issue with DRK it's a player issue. DRK has this fricking weird issue where half its players just don't use mitigation other than TBN, or oddly enough some of them don't use TBN at all and just rampart.

I have my Elezen wearing full plate with a cape and decent sized pauldrons, he looks great as a Paladin, shield on back sword on hip. Raised in Ishgard to be a true knight of the realm, found unemployed since the conclusion of Heavensward he has decided to become a sellsword and roam the realm in search of adventure.

No class in this game is very hard in terms of execution, but Black Mage is probably the hardest of them. Mostly because difficulty in this game is handled by requiring frequent movement. Black Mage has to stand still to cast, so optimizing it is about knowing when you can move and when you can't. The class has tools that allow you move and cast, but you have to use them intelligently. I find the class to be a blast but its not for everyone.

BLM is kind of the hardest but also the most rewarding to learn. It's the developer's favorite job and it shows.
Leveling is kind of boring before you get most of your kit but you could say that for most jobs so, eh.

The real "pick this, newbies" classes are Marauder, Conjurer, Arcanist (if going dps) and possibly Lancer? Lancer is stretching it a bit though, I wouldn't say Dragoon is the most simple melee job, that'd be Reaper or Samurai.
Really though it's Marauder if tank, Conjurer if healers and Arcanist if DPS.
Also how many character's can you have saved? I want at least another with a creative name. Is it costy to have details changed on your character?
How many per world depends on your subscription model (there's a cheaper and a more expensive one) but you can have as many as you want if you change world for each one and either way you don't really need more than one single character, since you can use all jobs in one.

well I'm not really looking for the latter. I don't usually play MMOs. The only other thing I put time into was LOTRO because I like that setting. That one was heavy on specs and alts.
As soon as you reach level 10 you speak to job trainers who will unlock that specific job for you. When you have done those short quest lines, equip the weapon for that job and that's how you change classes on the same character.
You can save preset jobs/ gear so it's all simplified once you start to get into it.

Having alts is discouraged on the whole unless you are heavily into raiding and raiding on different Data centers. But we're not sure how this is going to be in the future as Data center travel is being opened slowly, it's currently being tested that NA, EU and JP servers can travel to OCE (Aussie) data center and back. Whereas before, you'd need to create an Alt if you wanted to raid on both EU and NA.
We'll see what happens in the future, we'll see.

anything you want. Your character's name is the same as your username. Names are unique to each server, if you "John Fantasy" on the Leviathan server, your Username will be John Fantasy*Leviathan. It is completely possible for you to run into John Fantasy*Goblin if you/them decide to visit the same server
I used a character name generator for the game to help me decide. I had an idea in my head what I wanted to call my character, and put in adjectives in the generator and it spit out recommendations.
Buying any version of the game gives you 30 days of subtime from whenever you activate it. It's probably better to play the Free Trial (which is unlimited playtime up through the first 2 expansions with limits on some social stuff) and then activate the purchased copy if subtime is a concern

there's been a lot of complaints about the current status quo and people are hoping something changes in dawntrail, but even if new evergreen content does come out, it won't be in the expac release but in the 7.35 patch, so more like september 2025 if you want to do anything that isn't raiding or pvp

Well, do you want to heal, attack (at least the most of the 3 since they all attack), or tank? Warrior and Paladin are neat (which evolve from Marauder and Gladiator respectively)
The real "pick this, newbies" classes are Marauder, Conjurer, Arcanist (if going dps) and possibly Lancer? Lancer is stretching it a bit though, I wouldn't say Dragoon is the most simple melee job, that'd be Reaper or Samurai.
Really though it's Marauder if tank, Conjurer if healers and Arcanist if DPS.
How many per world depends on your subscription model (there's a cheaper and a more expensive one) but you can have as many as you want if you change world for each one and either way you don't really need more than one single character, since you can use all jobs in one.

FF14 is a casual dress up sim with raids, if you want spec autism and 50 alts WoW is right there.
well I'm not really looking for the latter. I don't usually play MMOs. The only other thing I put time into was LOTRO because I like that setting. That one was heavy on specs and alts.
As soon as you reach level 10 you speak to job trainers who will unlock that specific job for you. When you have done those short quest lines, equip the weapon for that job and that's how you change classes on the same character.
You can save preset jobs/ gear so it's all simplified once you start to get into it.

Having alts is discouraged on the whole unless you are heavily into raiding and raiding on different Data centers. But we're not sure how this is going to be in the future as Data center travel is being opened slowly, it's currently being tested that NA, EU and JP servers can travel to OCE (Aussie) data center and back. Whereas before, you'd need to create an Alt if you wanted to raid on both EU and NA.
We'll see what happens in the future, we'll see.
