Im stuck in New Reno with no meds and when I try to back track to vault city I get my ass handed to me by yakuza, raiders or packs of wolfs. are there any quests I can do for some quick cash or do i have to reload a save?

Go to Redding first. It's closer. You will probably want to save scum travel. Just do a few hexes, enter and save, travel some more, rinse and repeat.
Brogre is also min-maxed build, minimal results with maximal necessary effort.

Sometimes it's ok. Charisma is solid in Fo2 because you get Sulik, Vic and Cass back-to-back and you can play through the entire rest of the game as a squad shooter. Cha is ok-ish in NV because both Speech and Barter have a lot of mileage and I think Charisma has some utility for companions, but I'm not sure because there's basically zero solid documentation of Companion Nerve and Companion Suite.
I always thought it would be better if Charisma attribute handled speech checks in dialogue, and Speech skill was replaced with Leadership skill that would handle the companion shit.
Makes no sense that being a charismatic person has no effect, unless they have a buddy with them.

Try mashing A whenever your turn ends, sometimes the game fricks up and you can just run away

You're expected to know how mechanics work from having played F1 and powergame it.
not actually. the improved flamer was /supposed/ to be able to exclusively use the flamethrower fuel mk2, which doesn't have a enemy DR modifier which makes it better against armor, but in actuality, both flamers can use both types of flamer fuel.
yeah it's kind of funny. Not sure if that was intentional change, but it actually sort of makes the Improved Flamer slightly worse because it's just 1lb heavier.
The Improved Flamer does have the Flameboy perk which makes fire animation deaths more likely, however. Purely aesthetic
