Honestly just go straight into nightmare mode if you have patience. The spookiness of your scanner bugging out is awesome
These posters have become hysterical. The devs say that Hard is the intended difficulty they believe you should play. They have nothing to gain by misleading you.
>play on Hard >xenomorph constantly hovers near your area and magically knows which locker you're hiding in every time >can't move 20 feet before xenomorph unvents again unprovoked >you just get desensitized and bored of the alien >no time to read logs or take in the atmosphere >but at least you showed everyone online that you beat the game on the super duper hard difficulty setting
>Fromsoft game is hard: lmao just deal with it you fricking noob what are you a shitter? >any other game is hard: this is bullshit, horribly designed, 0/10
>Gee who would have thought that a hunter-type creature that's primary sense is being able to detect pheromones would have a general idea of your location at any given time? Plus, there's more than one
-Hiding in lockers changes the Alien's behavior and should never be done except as an absolute desperation move because it keeps it close. The massive amount of lockers available for you to hide in is kind of a sign that something is up. Why would the devs put so many convenient hiding places in literally every area if they weren't so great to actually hide in. There's really only one or two spots where I found it necessary to make a desperate dive into a locker, otherwise there's better places to hide
-I was able to read every log. That's part of the tension, making sure you have enough time to read a file without the door to the office next to you suddenly opening.

The alien is moronic if you're not playing on hard or nightmare, it's not fun. Nightmare is the real "hard" difficulty, hard should've been called normal. And hold your breath in lockers, dummy.
The game isnt designed for Nightmare. The glitching tracker is purely aesthetic because it still works compltely fine, the map terminals are still in the game even though you cant use the map, you cant heal because you have no way to know how much health you have and you cant break LOS on the alien - if it sees you, it becomes telepathic and will kill you no matter how you attempt to hide, making a near-perfect stealth run (sans the flamethrower) mandatory. The ONLY good thing about Nightmare is the item scarcity.
I honestly can't be bothered to once again play through boring nothing for 4 hours before the Alien shows up. That's why I liked The Bunker. Same style of cat and mouse gameplay, but without the boring filler. And the monster becomes a presence immediately.
Yeah the Nostromo DLCs are actually better than the base game because theyre more compact and youre in with the Alien from the start. The main game has too much fricking around with Joes or literally just wandering around hitting buttons.

I like tension slowly building, discovering setpieces and fricking around. You might have ADHD.
Excellent mood and atmosphere. Captures the original movie's world and aesthetic perfectly. Looks amazing even on toasters. Genuinely the most stressful game I've ever played, where I literally had to take breaks just to relieve the tension and stress. No you don't have to crouch-walk everywhere, you're just as quiet with your normal walking as you are when crouched, just be mindful about bumping into things or accidentally kicking stray objects. Pacing is kind of up and down and may start to drag in later stages, but it's a fun ride.
One of the DLCs actually let's you play out a deleted scene from the first movie. They actually trap the Xenomorph in the airlock but Ash lets it escape, where it injures Ripley and Parker. That's why Ripley has that unexplained bruise on her forehead in the scene after Dallas' death. It was cut because Scott thought it made Ash's true motives a little too clear before his big reveal shortly after. You can also play out the scene where Ripley is wandering around the ship near the end where she finds Parker and Lambert's corpses.
Scariest game ever. Play on hard like the game recommends. When you find hostile humans make some noise and hide so the alien would come and kill them for you, it's terrifying but also satisfying.
Very good AI, very good stealth mechanic and fan service but shitty UI and the worst part is the backtracking. God, i fricking hate backtracking in this game. It's like Outlast / Amnesia but you die in one hit.
Assrape.
Only play this game if you love being dominated by Xeno dommy mommy. You also need to be comfortable chilling inside a locker for hours on end.
An overrated game. Multiple Repeated sections.
Play on Easy. The alien is still an insta-kill threat, but unlike on harder difficulties it won't appear every 30 seconds.
Top spooks, good style. Oh and ignore this shitter

I went straight into nightmare for my first time and I loved it. I was also a teenager with a lot of free time

Stupid trolls.

Heck, even saving your game is designed to be tense and stressful
>There are enemies nearby
Alien can literally gank you while you're saving
>game can't be played while being immersed
>have to meta mind read the devs intention
That's a bad game, any way you cut it.

just install the unpredictable alien mod
Might as well install a mod that completely removes the alien at this point.
If you don't, it becomes so predicable any actual horror is lost... then it gets more and more tedious.
>recommends unpredictable alien when improved alien exists
The absolute state of GankerBlack folk.
pants-shittingly intense horror.

RIVETING
>4 hours.
You can't summon the alien by being noisy until you reach the first tram so just run through the tutorial section at the beginning.

Yeah, the movie is good. But I'm talking about the video game.

it's spoopy, but i found the gameplay a bit bland
I got this game for free on steam.
It was free on Steam? I got it free on Epic.
One of the best horror games. Enjoy it.

A great treat if you're an alien fan and a really good horror game.
Only heavy in repetition part is at the very end. I enjoyed the rest.
Unironically one of the greatest games ive ever played. morons got filtered because they thought you are supposed to hide all the time
Buy Amnesia the Bunker instead, it's basically Alien Isolation but good.
Very good AI, very good stealth mechanic and fan service but shitty UI and the worst part is the backtracking. God, i fricking hate backtracking in this game. It's like Outlast / Amnesia but you die in one hit.
