Tales games become a LOT less impressive once you realize all those combos you see in videos are completely pointless and need unoptimal. If you wanted to actually do damage, you'd just spam your strongest artes on cooldown.
Tales doesn't have cooldowns, past Vesperia most games also have technical penalties for spamming the same arte over and over, though admittedly it's not hard to get around it and in most cases it's not really all that relevant, like in Arise where it's there but doesn't really do anything.

If you open it up to tactics RPGs you can throw in Triangle Strategy as well. Add to that a bunch of classics getting remastered or finally getting international releases like Live A Live, what's there to be mad about? If anything true action RPGs (not hack and slashes with RPG stats shoehorned in like nu-GoW) are in shorter supply. The genre's been coasting on Soulslikes for years. XVI, Diablo 4, and Dragon's Dogma 2 are the only big releases I can think of in recent years.

They are correct. Turn-based games are boring. The main reason I play video games is for visceral control response, to feel a connection to the character doing the action, so that "Im" doing it in a way, it has always been this way. That was the very first thing that attached me to video games.
In this way I feel that people who heavily play turn based stuff are my genetic inferiors in terms of enjoying or being good at video games, with the exception for people who play actually hard games like crusader kings or something.

For now turn based rpgs are getting lower budgets, while all the big AAA stuff get action combat. Turn based isn't going anywhere, but you're gonna have to start looking for it in other places. You'll always have persona and pokemon probably. I don't mind the action change, but I'm a bigger fan of those types of games.
