I'm trying to make a comprehensive list of bugs in the duckstation emulator since the project is end of life and the original list is closed. Have I missed anything?

It is? It just got an update two weeks ago and it looks like another one is scheduled.
>latest rolling release 2 weeks ago
>76 commits since
literally dead
Brain death is still death
What point are you even trying to make?
It's all pointless busywork. It's the coding equivalent of that meme about crossfit pull ups.

Yes, you missed the annoying shilling for cuckstation.
>free emulator
>shilling
ok
do you really think $800 is enough? it's small time considering we control 95% of the subindustry. I want money. big money.
I haven't seen anything.
frick off danyboy
>danyboy
ciggy, you're like danny - autistic, homosexual, schizo, unemplyed
>Error 0xc000005 after updating to the current version (from january ones) Win7x64 #118
The end of life was last August for me, specifically on 2023-08-13 at v0.1-5624
RIP.

Oh the ironing
Why do people get so assmad at people using older an older OS? It's getting to the point where it seems like a bot.
This happened to homies on XP and Vista when 7 came out, but atleast that had some validity if you were going to 64-bit. I genuinely do not understand the massive push to 10/11 they offer nothing, yet people like you act like 7 is in the stone age.
not him but I find w10 compatibility for retro games better than w7. yes w10 was horrible for at release, guess what, I upgraded 2 years in
the botnet shit I don't really care about, you wouldn't be on the internet if you did care tho
Frick W10. XP still runs Crysis and most older games intended for older PCs with much better compatibility than your new blotted OS.
However, you're still limited by the specs in which the OS was designed for.
I've been using W11, and having tabs in File Explorer makes a world of difference.
>feature Loonix has had since forever
I'm still using W10 primarily, but fricking hell, Microdick sure take their time introducing common sense shit.
I'll admit, that's what brought me over to Mint a couple times.
>I've been using W11, and having tabs in File Explorer makes a world of difference.
>I'm still using W10 primarily, but fricking hell, Microdick sure take their time introducing common sense shit.
They had to wait 20 years for the patent to expire.
no one is mad, but the people on old OS refuse to accept that they will need to switch because devs will stop putting in the effort to maintain builds for old OS.
7 isn't really that old though, i dont mind people on those that much. still, 4 years past end of life support from windows is probably a sign you need to move on.
Usually the primary culprit for emudevs dropping support for Windows 7 is their reliance on Qt6 for the UI, and Qt6 doesn't support Windows 7, so they'd have to go back to Qt5 or maintain a separate Qt5 build, and of course most of them balk at that.
ah good info, thanks anon. makes total sense though.
I refuse to believe W8 is somehow out-of-support.
>4 years past end of life support
It's barely been 4 days since the latest update though.
Win7 still has active official support, just for those who keep paying for the updates (or pirating them).

yeah, thats really fricked but you can still use swanstation
I use PCSX-Redux because at least it has a functioning debugger that can assemble instructions which is required to make ASM cheats. Speaking of which, DuckStation went full moron with reimplementing entire assembly in cheats format instead of implementing something as basic as pointers in cheats.
As for the actual games, I play them on a Vita and PS Classic.
And it doesn't support PSX memcards as used on the PSP and Vita even though it's literally the same as raw but with like 64-bytes header (signature) prepended.
The Retroarch version still works for me - I hate devs who just go "new thing111!1!1!1", and that includes the microsoft devs who decide that identical functions from previous OSs NEED to be addressed by a different name by programs, just to make it difficult to develop for both. As far as I'm concerned, Win7 is the latest OS - subsequent releases are just spyware.
At that point, Win7 might as well be reverse-engineered. It'd make ReactOS progress quicker.
7 was the last good version of Windows. I begrudgingly use Linux these days because I don't want to deal with 7's unpatched vulnerabilities and declining compatibility, or 10/11's inbuilt spyware and bloat.
That would be fricking based. I want ReactOS to become a viable OS for day to day use.
>7 was the last good version of Windows
As long as you have a recent pro/lts version with all the forced updating/telemetry disabled 10 is a good os, surprisingly stabled if you have lotsa ram.
So, how do you stop the telemetry from re-enabling itself whenever you update?
if you let windows update run amok then you're fricked anon
Really, ciggy? We're mining fricking /vr/ of all places for more issue reports? Though I suppose you could do worse.
This is where retro dev drama is at its most unhinged, apparently.
Just wait until this one Russian guy shows up here. You've seen nothing.
>Russian trolls on 4chin
Nothing I haven't seen before, kek.
The problem is that no one is checking to see if those issues are fixed.
They aren't.
Proofs?
I checked the whole list in December. Nothing was fixed then and there's been no significant work done on the emulator since.
I played driver on duckstation around 2021 and I didn't get a glitchy menu, which is a bug on the list. Maybe it broke later idk.
Still broken.
Weird, I guess it broke in a later version.
>pal version
It was made by brits. PAL is only a problem when it's poorly converted from NTSC.
PAL is literally always a problem. 50hz is unplayable once you've experienced a real game, and I don't think I've ever seen a PAL release take advantage of the larger resolution, they're all letterboxed. So you get a shit framerate, and a shit picture.
How about europlatformers? I'm pretty sure those were designed with 50hz in mind.
https://github.com/unofficial-issue-tracker/duckstation/issues/88
I can say this one isn't a bug. Happened to me on real consoles across 2 different NTSC revisions.
You should probably read the issues before trying to lie about them. I included footage of it working correctly and mentioned that it used to be significantly worse and had improved a bit.
As long as I can play Rayman without a hitch, I'm satisfied.
I went and dug out my old disc and psone just to re-verify, and yes the audio is delayed on my hardware. Maybe some older fat model had the cutscene audio in sync like that youtube video, but it never was for me across the consoles I have.
Why did it used to be significantly more out of sink in duckstation and improve to where it almost works correctly if it's a game bug? Either you're lying and it's not meant to be out of sync, in which case it's an emulation bug, or it's a game bug and is meant to be totally out of sync, in which case it's an emulation bug.
Actually, I just realized the youtube video you linked to might be from the PAL version because of the logo on the main title screen. The issue might be specific to the USA or the NTSC versions.
Is this the state of retro emu threads? What's next, people are going to say that Mark of Destiny is a stinky poopyhead?
Why it still doesn't support Playstation-based arcade boards like ZN-1?
ZN-1 support leads to piracy - schizotek, probably
>ZN-1 support
>piracy
How much did Nintendo pay you to spew that propaganda?
>How much did Nintendo pay you to spew that propaganda?
$1 per letter.
If you want to know how you too can get rich by gaslighting people on /vr/, ask me how.
nta but you've no idea what the reference is about so just stfu
they gotta peddle that improved tpu2 scheme at all costs anon
>nta but you've no idea what the reference is about so just stfu
kek, my bad. that's the price i pay for being a newbie
>they gotta peddle that improved tpu2 scheme at all costs anon
frick microsoft, tho. at that point, i might as well rely only on their ltsc shit.
>ltsc
Long term the future is Linux anon, no longer under a mere idealistic discourse. And since M$ is changing the tpu2 hardware check for the next big update for w11 (right now it's simple to get it to install without tpu) I'm not even going to wait to see what's up with w12 as I had initially thought before making the change.
Good thing I got used to Mint, so this should be no problem.
>duckstation emulator since the project is end of life
Then why am I still getting regular updates?
OP's being a bit sensational, but in terms of actual emulation development, it hasn't had any concrete compatibility or accuracy improvements in a good while, just routine maintenance and bug fixes (to the program itself, that is, not in games).
As long as Rayman works.
It doesn't.
This issue is fixed: https://github.com/unofficial-issue-tracker/duckstation/issues/11.
I just tried it.
It isn't. I checked. What were you hoping to accomplish?
I don't hear anything when I pick a character. The music just stops until the level starts.
Turn your volume up.
You're right. With my laptop at max volume and with my ear to the speaker, I can hear it.
good thread.
yes
