I can’t imagine anything duller than playing Soviets against German AI. Either you’re godawful or there’s no tension whatsoever after the first year of the war. I guess with Wite2 at least the VP system might give you the win in fall 41.
Its a great game, dont let the haters and idiots tell you otherwise, BUT.....
You do need to play against another human. There lies the problem because firstly there are very few hard core gamers that get into this genre, meaning a relatively small pool of available opponents. Secondly, a campaign can take months to complete, which means finding someone who is willing to commit playing this for like an hour a day, most days, for possibly months. You need to find someone who is willing to dedicate about the same amount of time to regular play as you do.
Thirdly, within the small pool of reliable opponents there is a wide variation of skill level. Someone who knows all the game well will utterly thrash an inexperienced player, leading to an unsatisfactory game for both players. This may not become apparent until after both players have already sunk considerable time into their game. In a similar way the game rewards analysis. Someone who spends hours considering their moves and options is obviously going to have an upper hand over an opponent who just bumrushes all their decisions.
However if you can find a reliable opponent of a similar commitment and skill level, then this game is unmatched in its depth and realism.
End of blog.
Then when looking for a pvp game be honest. State that you are a noob and look for another noob to play against. Agree on some conditions before hand. The sort of people who play WitE are not the sort of people who jack off on beating noobs. They have no interest in getting an easy victory. The game is way too much of a time investment for anyone to want to do that anyway.
If you are upfront and honest you might also get an experienced opponent who is willing to play a short friendly match and give you some pointers along the way
The worse possible thing you can do is not be explicit, start a pvp game and then suddenly quit when it becomes obvious you have badly fricked up. It just wastes everyone's time and pisses them off..
I hate the scale of these autsitic games. I would much rather command 1 Division. Rather than 20 fricking Armies. One of the reasons the best campaign in Panzer Corps 2 is the Spanish one.
The scale is the whole fricking armies of the german and soviet forces. its 1:1 as much as possible. this is the closest simulation to the eastern front I know of.
There's smaller scenarios that are designed to serve as tutorials, the best way to learn it is to just sit down and play, there's a lot of buttons but 90% of the game is right clicking/shift right clicking and positioning your units well, the buttons all cover the remaining 10%.
imagine thinking this bag of afterbirth is any better than the first one.
ENTER
My man. This is the king of eastern front strategy games.
It's good. But smaller scale.
We aren't discussing children's games in this thread.
Damn, I was about to make a post about panzer corps 2.
OMG girl ikr? I was about to make a post about playing as Germany in Civilization.
Isn't that a mobile game?
mobile warfare yeah
Imagine being a gary grigsby's war in the east and not in the north?!?!
Imagine being in the north and not in the south
imagine being a Black person and not white
>turn-based

God, that unit spam.
Welcome to 1942, kraut, enjoy your stay.
>singleplayer focus
No such thing.
If you think WitE is a single player focused game you are a disgusting casual. Singleplayer is a 100 hour tutorial for the real game.

I want to play humans eventually. but im afraid of the min-maxers n shiet like that. plus the air war is kinda complex even for me.

Your little brain is incapable of handling so much information. We understand.
No Black person is just I can't be bothered to spend one turn giving out 300 orders when each order take like 5 clicks.

also. the easiest way to do the whole front is just to start from the north and work your way down. the whole front is like 10 hex wargames.
This is because you are thinking about it wrong. The scale of these games isn't really different and they are usually ver simple once you learn the UI
Not grand strategy.
Correct, but that includes 99% of threads on this board.
There is some short tutorial? There are so much bottons, i don't want to waste my time learning how to play this game
