>Holy shit why is Ash using Jobkoal what a fricking moron
Probably a funnier shitstorm than the Kalos loss
This. But it would have been warranted
>Imagine if /vp/ was around when this episode aired.
It was
There was no massive shitstorm because everyone had known Ash was going to lose badly for like a month at the time. It was the final league episode, he wasn't going to win both the semifinals and finals in one episode when the previous 6v6 had taken 3 episodes. Also, it was obvious from the start of the league that this fricker that was soloing the league with one mythical was going to be the guy Ash was losing to.
People were in general happy he went out with a hell of a bang. Latios came as a complete surprise and had not been hinted at in any way before. It's mostly dumb newbies that watched the episode years later that think it was badly received.
Tobias having to exist in the first place is a sign that the writers wrote themselves into a corner and couldn't come up with a reasonable way for Ash to lose
it makes sense to hate the episode
The character had existed for months by then. Yeah, people thought he was kinda bullshit, but he had been around and been bullshit for so long people were over him by the time the final episode aired.
This.
It was bullshit, but the keypoint is, that unlike Kalos, people weren't led on.
Furthermore, Ash had already "won" because he defeated Paul, the thing that was built-up and developed through the entire season, so him losing to Tobias didn't hurt as much because Ash had "accomplished" something in the season so it was not completely meaningless.
And again, the over the top and asspullish nature of Tobias also did a lot to soften the blow. You knew Ash was gonna lose yes or yes, but at least he wouldn't go down like a b***h. At the end of it all, he still defeated the Darkrai and then a Latios on top of that too.
The episode had been leaked for a while too.
Even if Tobias happened today it wouldn't have caused even a tenth of the butthurt the Kalos Disaster caused.
>The episode had been leaked for a while too.
Not leaked, but we get episode titles and summaries and shit from magazines in advance. It had been known for over a month that the 3 episode long Ash VS Paul battle would be followed by an episode titled "Sinnoh League Semifinals! Enter Darkrai!!", which was then followed by two episodes unrelated to the league ("Pokemon Doctor Brock" and "Friendship is Diamonds, Memories are Pearls") to finish up the series. Even without a summary, you can tell from those titles alone that Ash is going to lose against Bullshit Man and it's going to happen in a single episode, so it's going to be pretty quick and painful.
>Not leaked, but we get episode titles and summaries and shit from magazines in advance
True.
Sorry, I kind of misspoke there. I'm just used to saying "leak" because of how things are nowadays.
God, I miss magazines so badly.
But magazines are still how we get anime news.
/vp/ was created on 2011 moron
It was created in July 2010 due to the BW hype season turning Ganker into a board that was 50% Pokemon.
/vp/ wasn't around then, but that aside you're right. The whole point of the sinnoh league was for Ash to prove his team of scrubs could beat Paul. There was no way he was also going to defeat a random who that owns 2 legendaries. Ash getting his ass kicked by Tobias was just a bonus for the arc.
>/vp/ wasn't around then
Why do you morons spout shit like that?
Because pissing off a fact checking homosexual like you is funny. /vp/ didn't exist.
frick off newbie
I miss mootykins.
Remember when we had an admin who would actually fricking post here?
yep.
Why don't they have Tobias solve every world ending threat? Fricker is an unknown dude walking around with a legendary team
/vp/ was created a month before that episode aired you fricking newbie.
What would Shaun have thought about it
It was dumbass. I watched the stream.
OHNONONONONONO
>Ash Cuckitini
>ashnime thread
circlejerk thread
Not as bad as xyz since her fans had made a lot of fanficts like ash fricking serena and time jumps in exchange dp fans had more feet on the ground
It'd have been even funnier had ash won and then lost the finals.
