Oh no, not in the slightest. The PS2 had a much, much wider reach than the switch or any other gen 7 to 9 console because Sony started selling ps2s in third world countries in 2009 at a staggeringly discounted price for obvious reasons which added another 50 million or so to the sales count.
The switch doesn't have that luxury and is about to pass the ps2 in less time with a smaller potential audience.

Xenoblade games are about 80-100 hours long, so it's more like 20% cutscenes. Those games are probably around 50% gameplay, 30% reading text and 20% cutscenes. Still likely not what you want, but they're far from 10% gameplay.

While the world population increased that's mostly in impoverished countries, the same places Sony started selling the ps2 in the middle of gen 7 long after gaming was an accepted form of entertainment.
console sales are down overall compared to their peak and have been declining for years. if sales increased just because more people were around you'd see the whole market benefitting from it, not just nintendo

PS2 was about normal DVD player price but with the added benefit of the largest gaming lineup in history up to that point, due to it being the first truly backward compatible system. BD players were over 600 dollars at launch, so the smaller HDD PS3 was substantially cheaper than launch BD players, and even the bigger HDD one was about the same price as them. and again, launch PS3 was fully backward compatible, so even though it had no PS3 games for like 5 years it still had the older games.
Oh yeah that’s true, I was only 10 when the PS2 came out but I clearly remember that having a next-gen console that could play DVDs was a pretty good deal.
