Literally how the frick does that work? Assuming it was dug smack middle of the island, does the 50' of sand filter out the salt and microbiology to make ocean water drinkable? I always thought wells were digging to underground rivers or natural reservoirs, but this "island" is literally a mound of sand from top to bottom.
Sand filters out pretty much everything. Wells usually result from water that has filtered through about 30ft of sand.

I highly doubt the europeans salvaged the entire wreck and made a ship of a similar size out of it, it was probably much smaller, that said, I wonder if the wreck’s leftovers were enough to make something that could carry all the slaves, probably not, only one or two rafts at best like the other anon said.

the dude that became captain after the old one died on the way back, tried for like 15 years. got wienerblocked for 10 years until some bean counter finally agreed. took like 5 years more until actually a ship showed up at the island

Make it a survival horror game where you play as the slavers and have to rebuild a ship and escape before the slaves ape out and kill you. Would be a decent 1-2 hour long indie game
