They are still annoying to the point that I won't even try out a Zelda game now.
JRPG fans are pretty overrepresented on gamefaqs.
On the internet, they appeal to terminally online people with mental health issues.
I don't know how true this actually is in reality but this is the feeling I also have. FF gays were one of the first vidya fandoms to be weird terminally online homosexuals who practically live in FF worlds in their heads and larp in forums. FF fanbase was also huge online because of gross unwashed fujos writing tons of fanfics.

>umm actually classic FF fans are "terminally online"
Most classic FF fans were FF fans way before your heard the youtuber who taught you this term
Final gays were all over places like albinoblacksheep and newgrounds with shitty animations and gay fan written romance. The xXsephiroth420Xx people weren't a meme, they were people I went to high school with.
I genuinely hate Zelda fans (especially the more recent ones), but it's still one of my favorite series. If you've never played any games in the series you should check it out.
Twillight Princess was a very good game for its time. Windwaker was fun and had an interesting stylistic choice at the time, it was something new.
I think Super Mario Galaxy was better than them both though, the music was incredible and it was really something new and unique that was actually fun to play.
lmao
GameFAQs had these contests all the time back then, they were just popularity contests between zelda and squaresoft fans, with some other popular series thrown in sometimes. Launchpad winning the sidekicks tournament was the only good that ever came of those things. Seeing SA on there is funny since many posters I recall thought GTA (and halo and madden/fifa) was the death knell of gaming as a nerd's hobby and saw them as bringing too many normal people into the fold.
>Brawl >MW2
embarrassing

[...] >Games have loads of text and shit >Fans end up on sites that's loads of text and shit
Who knew
I always figured it was because they were story/character-focused games, and in my experience, people talk about characters/stories far more than they talk about anything else in a game, so they're just always chatting about it because the subject is one that they enjoy.

you're just jealous that YOU didn't make it to balamb garden
Not going to address this beyond this one post. Demon's Souls came out in 2009, and it takes a warm shit on MW2. The poll makers fricked up and I won't hear otherwise. Now back to on-topic.
GameFAQs was a weird place, it was like the worst people you'd find here and the worst people you'd find on ResetERA having inane internet slapfights. In retrospect, it wasn't very surprising they were such fans of JRPGs.
When I first came to Ganker I liked it because it was like GameFAQs but without people pretending to follow moronic rules. In time I learned they were basically the same place in effect, for better and for worse. I just like that this site doesn't use handles and karma. Frick every site that uses karma based on post count/post popularity. The only ones I like are on dedicated forums where people's IRL lives intersect with the forum, and even there I only like it reflecting behavior in BST situations, so that if you are a scummy person then I know to avoid you. Rating users by how often they post/how popular their posts are makes for even bigger echo chambers than you already tend to get on web communities.
All I remember of playing FFX was the graphics being good and the world being shit. Also, pretty much everyone looked like a clown. Tidus had a moronic outfit, Wakka used a fricking volleyball as a weapon, lulu had the stupid beltception, it was a truly marvelous shitfest. I always compare it to gundam seed and use it as reminder of how often japanese have shit taste.
I also remember my brother getting stuck on the seymour fight in the mountains. I didn't give a shit for the game past the first hour and stopped playing, so I don't know if that was an actual hard fight or if he just didn't prepare well. Either way, game didn't impress much. Also seymour has that moron hair that looks like something a deviantart OC would have. As expected of Nomura, the moronic 50-something who thinks he's a teenager in shibuya.
that's a good game though
it's not bad, but I would struggle to pick it as "best game ever". Then again, I met a weirdo once who told me he replayed it every year on the anniversary of its release. Maybe it just infects people who love plot and meme characters.

No. FF10 is when Final Fantasy started to go to shit. FF8 may have been the beginning of the end but FF10 is when everything started to go very fricking wrong, and the series has yet to recover.
It's worse than that, bad games can be ignored, this is a good game with extremely bad ideas in it. It spread those ideas like cancer around the genre and killed it off. This game killed overworld in JRPGs and with it, killed the genre.
That's wild considering that they all played it in English, meaning they had to suffer through such an awful dub. That awful voice acting ruins the entire experience.

>super repetitive battle theme
FFX's soundtrack is one of my favorites, but the battle themes are pretty weak. It's carried mostly by gorgeous ambient bgm and cutscene music. >100 encounters per square inch
The encounters wouldn't be so bad if you didn't have to swap characters in and out every battle for everyone to gain exp, and then assign your levels manually in the sphere grid. It's pretty laborious. >very long intro to the game
It is long yeah, but it looks spectacular and wastes no time pulling you into the story. If the intro doesn't interest you, I can see why you don't remember it favorably.
Goddamn, Zelda gays were so much worse back then. I remember them being truly insufferable
No
They still are

Frick Zeldagays
Yeah, the OP image genuinely reminded me of just how bad they were at that time.
It's insane, the zelda games there aren't even good games.
Twillight Princess was a very good game for its time. Windwaker was fun and had an interesting stylistic choice at the time, it was something new.
I think Super Mario Galaxy was better than them both though, the music was incredible and it was really something new and unique that was actually fun to play.
In 2009, it won again.

It was 2009. GOTY after 2007-2008 is more of a paralympics type thing

it's worse than every single game on that list except maybe twilight princess

No one will ever top the Final Fantasy tulpa house drama. It was really ahead of its time.

No shit
the poll should be made on 12/31/2100

Holy frick some actual sense in an FF thread
This. Also KH2 horrible story and etc. The whole PS2 era was questionable for Square and it veered into the wrong way really badly
who makes a game of the century poll seven years into the century, like at least make it of the decade
It was a 2000s thing, everything was century this millennium that
I have it on my phone, but the sphere skill shit just appeared and I don't like it... it's absolutely unnecessary
And then they chose Undertale as the new best game ever lmao. Says it all really
That was just reddit trolling the shit out of gamegays.
>trolling
Unfortunately people actually like that game for real. There has been raiding but it's mostly raiding by actual fans of it
that's a good game though
the drones are at it again
If it weren’t for XIII, X would be what I would call the worst game in the franchise.
It's worse than that, bad games can be ignored, this is a good game with extremely bad ideas in it. It spread those ideas like cancer around the genre and killed it off. This game killed overworld in JRPGs and with it, killed the genre.
What are you talking about? There are very few JRPGs with hallway worlds like FFX.
All of the popular modern JRPGs have overworlds though.
That's wild considering that they all played it in English, meaning they had to suffer through such an awful dub. That awful voice acting ruins the entire experience.
Pretty good list if we swap FFX with DQVIII and remove Wind Waker
Oh nevermind, it has GOTY only
>disregarding 93 years of possible games
Man, they need to frick off
GameFAQs was a weird place, it was like the worst people you'd find here and the worst people you'd find on ResetERA having inane internet slapfights. In retrospect, it wasn't very surprising they were such fans of JRPGs.
the only good thing in FFX is Rikku
The correct opinion hasn't changed in 20 years. Fat titted goth cow is a close second.
>Only good game there is dead last
WW isent even a top 6 Zelda game
Funny to think that every game on that list was remastered at some point.
Calling 3D All Stars a remaster is being extremely charitable. But yeah, get used to it.
>Are
I'm tired of pretending this game wasn't the most over-hyped and over-rated game that ever came out
Yes
Kind of interesting to see TP more popular than WW.
All I remember about FFX is the super repetitive battle theme, 100 encounters per square inch and a very long intro to the game. Am I brainlet pilled?

where PC
PC is where your game goes to miss sales metrics
As someone who doesn't like RPGs, I can say FFX is pure kino. I played the shit out of it on PS2.

Lol
