That's bullshit, PS2 ran on MIPS when IBM was all-in on POWER at the time, and the GPU was designed in-house.
You're probably confusing it with the GC or PS3 (which did run on IBM chips) and the DC (which had a PowerVR GPU).
It isn't, Sony went all cheap for PS2 during development because they thought People would be stupid enough to buy their games on release.
