In BDSP are you allowed to use 4 directional grid movement like in XY and ORAS? Or is it locked only to the analog stick? I can't find this info anywhere. Does this break the game? Considering playing it since I'm bored and played every game already.

You can use the d-pad for grid movement but it's really fricking awful. I assumed I would prefer it and then once I actually tried I switched to the analog control. The game is fun though, battle tower is great and the pacing is drastically improved over the originals.
I love how this was the only anon that answered my question. Thanks anon.
I do what I can hombre
I will never not be blown away by how terrible BDSP looks. Even more astounding that it has it's defenders, like, look, I liked the top-down grid style too, but BDSP lacks all the appeal of that style. Literally all of it.
It is ugly but it plays nicely imho
Agreed. There’s nothing wrong with the Chibi style imo but the art direction is a war crime. It looks like a shitty Fisher price mobile game
It's the best looking gen 8 game you pleb.
Kys for shilling the single ugliest Pokémon game in existence. Its uglier than even SwSh
Battles look alright but the game looks TERRIBLE in the map
Let's go games mog it so fricking hard it's not even funny
I honestly still can't play it to this day because it looks so ugly. First Pokemon game ever that's done this to me. Probably one of the first games ever that's so ugly that I can't play it and I play a lot of games, not just RPGs
>The way Volkner's hair is detailed and properly tectured, while Luxray's mane looks like a paper cutout
Holy shit does this this game look like absolute shit
It's like they tried to purposely make the game look visually appealing in every area on purpose. The only area which is just about passable to me is the snow areas, since the bloom and muddy visuals of the game don't stand out like a sore thumb there. I'm just glad we at least got PLA
>It's like they tried to purposely make the game look visually appealing in every area on purpose.
meant to say visually unappealing kek
Sorry for your Freudian slip. Guess the bait isn't biting like it used to.
whatever you say to convince yourself that modern Sinnoh didn't get absolutely disrespected by Game Freak. Some just choose to acknowledge the reality.
I hate when games like this have diagonal movement when shit like ice puzzles and rock moving can only happen on a grid. It breaks my immersion, or ‘tism.
Crazy how the top left is literally Legends Arceus. You actually got the remake you wanted.
Legends is some shitty spin-off that takes place in some empty pre-civilisation shithole
What we wanted was Sinnoh (the one of gen 4) in SwoShi's 3D style
I needed the grid when hunting Feebas for the first time. That's when I learned that the gen 4 Suction Cups overworld glitch is still in these games, I was so fricking mad. When people say they copypasted the code they mean it.
>That's when I learned that the gen 4 Suction Cups overworld glitch is still in these games
BDSP engine is quite literally a copy pasted code of the gen 4 ds game ones. Like 1:1. That's how people were modding it in only a few days, since it ran on all the same code as the mods have for years
I don't remember gen 4 having fairy types, affection and trainer customization
Pokémon Following Platinum and Renegade Platinum have Fairy type
Those are slapped on top of the game engine. Adding fairy types wont changes how the world, RGN values, graphics etc are rendered and processed
That's why you can do most of the old glitches from gen 4 still, only a few of the gamebreaking ones got patched
>copy pasted code of the gen 4 ds game ones. Like 1:1.
>Those are slapped on top of the game engine
Then it wasn't copy pasted 1:1
They never said the whole codebase was copy pasted 1:1 did they?
That's the definition of 1:1 learn to read ESL
Back to Discord for you
BDSP are just official mods if you think about it too hard
>BDSP engine is quite literally a copy pasted code of the gen 4 ds game ones. Like 1:1
kino
Copy pasted code is literally not even an issue at all. You really think every time Nintendo makes a new 2D Mario game they just start from scratch again? No that's just inefficient and wasteful. Reusing and repurposing code is literally a key skill of being good at coding. The real issue is that they didn't fix any of the existing bugs when repurposing that code.
>You really think every time Nintendo makes a new 2D Mario game they just start from scratch again?
You need to update your copypasta because they made a big stink about how the exact opposite of what you say happened with Wonder.
Also, with code it's generally far less efficient to refactor existing code if you need to reuse it than to re-write the entirety of it outright. Nobody wants to mess with incomprehensible spaghetti. Iwata's reverse engineering of Pokemon's original battle code is the best example of this.
I'm glad we got Luminescent Platinum out of it all at least, that's my silver-lining.
You can use the d-pad for 4 directional movement... sort of. It still causes problems because you are always off-center from tiles, so running down narrow walkways is fricking hell.
*bump* followed by a full stop and reset to neutral stand every two fricking steps.
Whyyyyyyy
Because I have the growing suspicion that BDSP was done even worse than normal on purpose to trick buyers into thinking they have it good with Gamefreak.
That would be wild. I was surprised ILCA made it bad considering the game they made before is actually good and the new game Sand Land looks cool too.
BDSP is way better than SWSH and SV
I wouldn't know, never tried them. PLA and BDSP were so fricking shit I swore off new pokemon games for good.
