Yeah but Terraria doesn't have infinite planets and solar systems to explore. The largest Terraria map is infinitely tiny compared to the scale of Starbound.

Nintendo is done making quality products. Everything they make these days is a 2 dimensional baby toy for morons. Like, I was a literal infant playing NES games, and somehow I played shit like Megaman 1 and Super Mario 3 to completion. I was in the first grade when OoT came out, and I played that shit AND understood the story at my diaper-baby reading level.
Nintendo has lost respect for a child's intellect, learning ability and creativity, and worse, the desire children feel to go on adventures and fight monsters and save the world and shit. This was presented as one of Miyamoto's core inspiration behind Zelda, but these days all I can think of when I think of the franchise is the stupid marble tilt maze shrine in BotW. A stupid little baby toy to waste your time and money.
Meanwhile, the niche they could have occupied, while also still keeping their babytoy throne, is now occupied by Fromsoft, the modern king of fantasy action. Delivering not just a more mature experience and growing with their oldest customers, but also delivering superior gameplay and design philosophy. Nintendo actively wants you to have less fun swinging a sword in zelda, partially because if you can just kill everything in their giant mall parking lot with a stick, the game is pointless, but to make the game hard they'd have to be good at making combat. I think it's fair to say all the people who were responsible for the combat from OoT to TP being good are long gone or in other departments. It almost feels like another pushy moral guardian play, like the Splatoon moralists came out and said "SWORD FIGHT BAD, NO LET KID FIGHT WITH SWORD" so now all your swords break as some moron metaphor to find some other less aggressive solution to the problem. It falls very in line with their "WE MUST CHANGE THE CONVENTIONS OF OUR CORE SERIES...THEN LAMPREY SUCTION CUP OURSELVES TO THE NEW CONVENTIONS AND NEVER LET GO."
