it doesn't look very much like morrowind, which has barely any draw distance and lots of lush pointlessly high poly vegetation and other natural material meshes that have no business being that inefficient

>mushrooms >mushrooms >alien colors >alien colors
frick you it's morrowind
>Morrowind >alien colors
What the frick are you smoking? It's Oblivion that introduced alien environments to the series. Morrowind has a fairly grounded color palette. It's nearly all muddy browns, grungy greens and the occasional sandstorm.
>It's Oblivion that introduced alien environments to the series.
What the frick are YOU smoking? Outside the planes of Oblivion which was basically just generic hell and the shivering isles expansion, Oblivion had the most generic medieval fantasy setting of the entire series. The most notable thing about Morrowind is how utterly alien it is when it comes to the environments and creature designs.
>nailing the soulfull look
Speaking as someone who played video games in the 90s, frick you. It's not soulful, it's not authentic, it's an aesthetic manufactured by post-2010 devs based on their imagined impression of older games. It's the exact opposite of soul. It's artificial and ignorant.
"Old" games (by which I mean contemporary) were made within the boundaries of the existing tech, often pushing them forward. This "throwback" retro aesthetic is achieved by - guessed it - artificially limiting or downscaling the assets. It's not at all like "old" games.
It's the same with indie pixelshit. "Old" games just didn't look like that. It's entirely a modern invention.
>engines use high fidelity assets by default because they're easier to implement/scan in/work with >dev slaps a pixellate/dither/scaler shader on top >you can even turn those off in the fricking settings sometimes >HURR DURR THIS ISN'T DOWNSCALING
It literally is. Even DUSK, a game worshipped by Ganker, does exactly that.

lmao
This type of indies always get a bunch of updates anon, 1.0 means nothing nowdays. Its done when you two years from now you see a message from the dev saying "All updates are done, moving on to my next game, only fixing minor glitches now" thats the real 1.0 now.
I have nothing to play and Steam recommender is throwing shit at me despite what I filter out, I've beaten risen, gothic 2 and yesterday greedfall and I still haven't decided on whats next. Should I start this game maybe?
Since you played Gothic 2 and Risen, do not play Elex by the same devs UNLESS it is the original German version. The English version of Elex did not even have as much as a translation; its entire script was completely winged and fabricated.
I like the look/style of the game and the type of game it is interests me but being some lil indie title I've heard you can beat the game in like 10 hours and the depth of what there is to do in the game seems very shallow and simplistic.
Am I mistaken? Is this worth it and it is some massive Morrowind like world I can get lost in with lots of depth and complexity?
My issue with hames like this is that you pretty much have to wait like two years after release because all the updates it gets really chnages the game. Even if its not early release this games release shit like 50% final content missing
I played the whole Verdite trilogy like a month ago, so far Dread Delusion is giving me similar vibes. It's not 1:1, but the first island felt very similar to the opening act of KF3
This was me replaying 3 not too long ago. In general I think 3 is weaker than 2 and 4 but I think it has its moments right around the time you finish the Palace of Wind. Up until that point, the outdoor areas are kind of dull, and the first few dungeons are fairly toothless. I think the Cave of Shodum is probably the first point where I think it's even remotely as fun as KF2.
That said, I think it's a really strong conclusion to the PSX games from a narrative perspective. I love how the game proper opens with the painting from KF2, and the return to the Royal Cemetery from KF1 is one of my favorite parts in the whole series.
This is winning to you?
bro, if this is losing then I cannot imagine how perfect winning is
>winning
This is coping. What ever this fricking atrocious mess is supposed to be, it looks god awful.
*puts on eye reading monocle*
it appears to be a video game in the year 2024
I like the aesthetic, I don't like the gameplay
This looks like Morrowind but with some weird visual glitch. I dont like it.
it doesn't look very much like morrowind, which has barely any draw distance and lots of lush pointlessly high poly vegetation and other natural material meshes that have no business being that inefficient
>This looks like Morrowind
It really fricking doesn't. It doesn't even look like Daggerfall. Zoomers have the weirdest idea of pre-2005 games.
>mushrooms
>mushrooms
>alien colors
>alien colors
frick you it's morrowind
Giant Mushrooms don't make a Morrowind, broseph.

uhhhhh earthy colors though?
No, it looks like Wizards & Warriors with a graphical glitch.
no it looks like King's Field on Mario mushrooms
Looks like it's trying a bit hard, but that's better than not trying at all.
What game?
>WAHH WAHH SPOONFEED ME
No.
dread delusion
for boomers by boomers
Don't watch the sky.
if it's worse than skyrim i'm not gonna play your rpg, sorry. we live in 2024. standards are higher.
zzz
>Morrowind if he 1994
Have they fixed the enemy difficulty? It's depressing how artgays never seem to get the mechanics down despite nailing the soulfull look.

Soulful doesn't just mean looking old you moron
>artificial
As opposed to old games, which weren't man-made and just fell down from the sky.
"Old" games (by which I mean contemporary) were made within the boundaries of the existing tech, often pushing them forward. This "throwback" retro aesthetic is achieved by - guessed it - artificially limiting or downscaling the assets. It's not at all like "old" games.

Ah so you're a tech illiterate moron that doesn't know what he's talking about, carry on.
Not an argument.

its peak soulless. there is no artistic vision behind it, its a soulless imitation of things done better in the past
Its a semi popular indie game anon its gonna be finished for like two years before its actually complete, even if it doesn't release as early access.
It has released from early access a couple of days ago, I doubt there will be any significant updates other than bugfixing.

Looks like vomit, are dungeons better looking?
I wish the game had 20 billion skills and attributes like Morrowind, I guess I can't expect too much from a one man show.
How long is the game? Worth whatever pittance it cost?
I have nothing to play and Steam recommender is throwing shit at me despite what I filter out, I've beaten risen, gothic 2 and yesterday greedfall and I still haven't decided on whats next. Should I start this game maybe?

Try any of the games in the "Best Game Nobody Played" list.
looks like theres a good reason nobody played them
HEYYYYOOO!
SHUT UP, STEVE!!
>Void Stranger barely present
You should be happy it got any nominations at all. I barely saw any threads on Ganker.
There were shitloads when the game released. I don't even play VS myself.
What is this absolute dogshit list? Good fricking lord i keep thinking this shithole cant get worse and somehow it always does

What even is this?
Is it Cruelty Squad?
Dread Delusion

You don't fit in, newbie.

Bethestards will buy anything. They are so desperate for slop lol
This is winning to you? A game that wants to be like 20 other games and ends up being like none of them while also being shit?
how many times are you going to sperg out and bump the thread LMAO
>he doesnt know
>let's make our game look and sound like shit on purpose
Garbage
Finally, Kings Field 3 2. I'm enjoying it so far
Why do people keep saying this shit? This game is nothing like any of the kf games.
It looks like Kings Field
It really doesnt
nothing? not everything? not they filed the serial numbers off?
>Why do people keep saying this shit?
It's in the marketing materials.
I played the whole Verdite trilogy like a month ago, so far Dread Delusion is giving me similar vibes. It's not 1:1, but the first island felt very similar to the opening act of KF3
I've played more KF than anyone on Ganker and it's very fun to make comparisons to KF on here because of how much they annoy people
Post proof or I call bs.

Come home, white man.
Yeah yeah, it's all great, HOWEVER, did you know that Lunacid has TRANNIES?
Different game anon
game is pretty and lore is cool but gameplay and characters are shit
this game also has trannies friend
>they changed the opening
Good shit I hope.
"gamers" will unironically look at this and say they dont like the aesthetic.
>Indiechads, we can't keep shilling like this
Fixed for you senpai!
The game feels like a walking sim with combat and "RPG mechanics" tacked on as an afterthought.
