For starters, how about alternate routes from the original story?
Best DB for me was adult Goku before any of the alien shit. That includes the movies like Deadzone and one of the other ones with kid gohan. The last world tournament with Piccolo Jr. is the best peak of everything before it and while Goku was strong, it hadn't yet created the insane power gap between him and the rest of the cast that started with Raditz showing up. I can extend my attention to the end of Freeza as a finale, though i think that whole saga just shits on the world built up beforehand. After that, things should have been "reset" following a similar journey of kid Gohan learning to become a fighter.
Everything after Freeza just got moronic in scale. I have to just accept the series completely becoming anime capeshit superhero stuff at that point and forgetting any of its mystical martial arts type stuff.
If Toriyama or whoever wanted to milk the ip more, i would love a more scaled down retelling of the 3 main arcs of Z that makes everyone closer to usefulness and have Kid Buu or something be the only threat strong enough to blow up a planet potentially. Also scale back on using the Dragon Balls or other ass-pull nonsense to move the plot along. I like the stuff from the android and Buu sagas, i just would like to see it repackaged in a way closer to the original pre saiyan reveal turning point of the series.
