You actually want to play the GC version (for the updates like lesser encounter or the new content) but with the OST of the DC version.
The ost of the GC version was really compressed.
>Just look at the FF7 remake >split the game in parts resulting in people needing a ps4, ps5, and probably a fricking ps6 to play all of the parts when they release
homie what?
Yeah but consequentially I feel like that first fight with the Black Pirates was misleading because it made me think every bounty fight was going to be a naval battle.
Everyone is praised except Europeans (specifically they're all reduced to Spaniards though.) Though yeah, it is interesting how the spot on the map that should be North America is just an empty void of NOTHING. Though I always theorized those small islands around the area are probably like the silver lands in that there's small little populations there.
If you're gonna play this then put in the code that removes random encounters. There's so many mandatory battles anyways that you'll never be under leveled during boss fights.
I did enjoy what I played, but everything got incredibly lengthy. I put it down at the Blue Moon area because ship battles took 20-30 minutes each and the mountain dungeon there was awful and apparently I wasn't even halfway done at several hours in. Apparently I'm not the only one to stop here as its an extremely unpopular dungeon.
I'd play it again with an emulator that has a fast forward button. The cinematic way ship battles played out was cool as frick with them turning before the next round of firing takes place, but they needed skip buttons after you'd seen it tons of times. Same thing for the regular battles. Shorter animations would have improved the game so much.
Was one of the most kino parts of any RPG
and the realization you get to build your own pirate island and recruit random npcs you met along the way was the most satisfying shit ever
the little boob-physics girl was on mine
>run from battles a lot because of how annoying the random encounters are >not only end up under-leveled in some situations but you'll end up stuck with the Vyse the Coward title that'll take ages of completed battles to remove >having that title also prevents you from unlocking a few more crew members which are needed in order to get the blacksmith who can forge you the strongest weapons
That was way back in my late teens I think, and I've since restarted the game because of the sheer amount of battles I'd needed to make up for it (iirc, I ran from over 200 on the first playthrough, which means I need to do thousands of battle to remove that title).
I miss when games felt like this grand adventure. Like you would pop in the disc, get fricking excited, and everything was all soulful and you would get totally lost exploring a world. Now it's all shit
>>used to play this downstairs at my old family home with my dad watching sports upstairs, during rainy days >That home is gone and my dad is dead. I want to go back...
are you literally me
this is the only JRPG with a world that felt real, like it existed beyond the events of the game's story and characters, that other adventures were being had, that there was an actual history. It saddens me tremendously there will never be another JRPG like this again
>Wonder what could be below the clouds all game long, don't expect them to ever bother with it >you actually go through them
absolutely based
Shame the second half felt pretty rushed at times though
I love when games make you feel like that. The only game I can even think of that gave me that feeling is Xenoblade Chronicles when you go to the fallen arm and realize the game isn't even close to being over
>Going into the Dark Rift for the first time. >Decide to go back and just frick around >Find an random old dude >Special event triggers because I had the bar lady on my ship >Unlock a new crew member
I love how much this game rewards you for exploring.
I played that and remember liking the game. Honestly don't remember much of it though. Just remember a funny card system, turbo autist mc, and only vaguely remember the twist.
I wanted to try a romhack of this game, and I found one that looked interesting called the Maeson mod. Anyone here try it? Can you vouch for it being good?
now I feel kinda glad I own this game.
Bought it from a teenager a few months ago for 10 bucks.
GC version. No manual, but frick muh collectionist mindset
One thing I particulary like about this game is that every-fricking-thing has flavor text. >Check some box >Has flavor text >Check some vase in the middle of nowhere >Has flavor text
I love this so much
never played this before, but I can definitely feel the SOUL
Give it a shot. It's one of the best JRPGs.
Been on my backlog for ages. Which version is the better one? DC or GC?
Recently tried the GC one in emulation and it was dogshit. Probably the best version if you have the hardware though.
Gamecube, no contest. Not only does it have more content but also WAY less random encounters, which is one of the biggest flaws of the original.
You actually want to play the GC version (for the updates like lesser encounter or the new content) but with the OST of the DC version.

Remake when? PC when?
>Remake when?
Not needed.
>PC when?
Emulate it.
Could definitely use a remake. Just look at the FF7 remake. We could have more of that.
>FF7 remake
>Just look at the FF7 remake. We could have more of that.
>Just look at the FF7 remake
You're either baiting or terminally moronic.
shut up gay. I dont want a SoA remake with fricking time ghosts and turning Aika black for the sake of diversity.
>he doesn't want new and exiting content for a 20 year old game
C'mon
>Just look at the FF7 remake.
End your life as soon as possible.
>Just look at the FF7 remake. We could have more of that.
I would hate that.
now that is some premium b8
>Just look at the FF7 remake
>split the game in parts resulting in people needing a ps4, ps5, and probably a fricking ps6 to play all of the parts when they release
homie what?
I wouldn't trust modern devs to capture the feeling of Skies of Arcadia properly.
yep
IN DIRE NEED
The ship battles were the best part of the game, cool shit.
Yeah but consequentially I feel like that first fight with the Black Pirates was misleading because it made me think every bounty fight was going to be a naval battle.
Also insanely boring to actually play.
hilariously racist
at least Americans are portrayed as Gordo's Bistro in that game

Guys don't let the moron derail a perfectly good SoA thread please.
Who was the best boss and why was it Lord Bane?
More like Lord LAME
Why does he wear the mask?
Best action grandpa
>That entire segment between breaking into Valua and getting the harpoon cannon

Maybe you shouldn't have been a pussy

That's the version I was playing
running away in rpgs is increasing the encounter difficulty
fighting every battle lowers the encounter difficulty
fighting every battle = pussy move
stop relying on level ups
based game
Gamecube version has less encounters
I used a no random encounters cheat once I realized all I was doing in every single one was charging Aika's special attack
FIRE CONSUME MY ENEMIES, LAMBDA BURST!!!
Hey eventually you start spamming Rain of Swords with Vyse instead.
I miss when games felt like this grand adventure. Like you would pop in the disc, get fricking excited, and everything was all soulful and you would get totally lost exploring a world. Now it's all shit
Stupidly soulful game. probably in the top 10 of pvre sovl
>used to play this downstairs at my old family home with my dad watching sports upstairs, during rainy days

I am acutely aware of how you feel fren, I hope you can carry on

Brand new SS13 combat and self defense course
Become Robust

Was that actually the surface of the planet or just an apocalyptic seething mass of sludge and garbage?
I love when games make you feel like that. The only game I can even think of that gave me that feeling is Xenoblade Chronicles when you go to the fallen arm and realize the game isn't even close to being over

I wish there were more games with sky boats and sky islands. It's such an enjoyable setting.
There's Baten Kaitos.
I played that and remember liking the game. Honestly don't remember much of it though. Just remember a funny card system, turbo autist mc, and only vaguely remember the twist.
I don't need a sequel but I need a game with the same spirit of adventure and discovery as this one.
I wanted to try a romhack of this game, and I found one that looked interesting called the Maeson mod. Anyone here try it? Can you vouch for it being good?
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/2859/
I played with that mod all the way to Ixa'Taka seemed alright, the Executioner fight was quite something.
SE could've done a full remake if it had mostly been a graphical overhaul instead of trying to expand and "improve" the original game.
now I feel kinda glad I own this game.

My neighbor stole this game from me. What a piece of shit. I was at the end too
