    Helmetless characters sell better.

WHY??? I literally wouldn't buy helmetless marines when I used to play, and if I had guys that were helmetless I would convert them.

Whether or not you agree with it, if you can't even think of a reason why, you might be moronic.

Because people like to look at men's faces? I literally cannot conceive of why.

but he IS wearing a helmet, it's just that it leaves his head exposed, defeating the purpose

It sort of looks like he's wearing some kind of flesh coloured headcap.

same, I thought he had fashioned himself a 'nid israelite cap for his troubles but turns out he's just dumb

I’m shocked to see people on /tg/ defending these half helmets. They looked stupid five years ago and they look stupid now.
    >yes, I would like to obscure all details of the face while still forcing myself to paint eyes and a bald scalp
Just use the regular bare heads.

Even worse is how the marine is in obvious dire need of a proper helmet. His head looks like a mangled ballsack.

  12. 8 months ago

It's the same reason why in a lot of movies and shows, the heros (or just higher paid actors really) never wear helmets
In real life helmets are the most important piece of armour
In storytelling helmets get in the way of character and actor recognition

Except even when those actors do wear helmets it’s one that exposes the face. These things do the exact opposite and only cover the face. All this tells you is skin color

Maybe something HAPPENED to the helmet so he had to take it off? Use some imagination

The only ONLY models that look good without a helmet are high Psyker characters who lore wise have a psychic force field around their heads.

Examples being Tyranids who’s brain is exposed due to heat exhaust and psychic force field or the rare marines like the Blood Angel Psyker.

clearly he has simply painted his helmet flesh coloured so when someone blasts through his head with a lascannon it won't make a fricking difference anyway
such is the brainpower of the marine

arent they made of some bullshit like pla-steel or something, shouldnt they be super lightweight compared to anything we are familiar with, and also the marines are supposed to be super strong so something like wearing a heavy helmet shouldnt be an issue?

if my job involves getting shot at by god knows what super bullshit I would certainly be thankful for a helmet that offers some level of protection and battlefield assitance over none of that, and and in his case the downside are even less since one even the Imperiums shitty tech means you won't over heat or fog yourself up with a helmet on due to actual ventalization, and the fact as a superhuman won't get a sore neck from wearing it even without the black carapace essentially turning it into a second skin

British tank crews in WWII didn't wear helmets, they wore berets. And there's of course the iconic images of US special forces in Vietnam wearing their boonie hats.

          Anonymous

yeah, at the very start, the BEF didn't wear helmets and in africa where wearing clothes beyond shoes and shorts inside the tank would parboil you
and then they started issuing helmets from the paras to the tankers and all of a sudden the rates of men made invalid from head wounds dropped like a stone

        Anonymous

Australian infantry in the Vietnam War used boonies rather than helmets because the men didn't fatigue as quickly and were more comfortable to wear on long patrols

No. Not in modern warfare. Do you have any idea how much shrapnel and debris there is flying around? And it's double stupid against Tyranids, who use chemical weapons, airborne micro organisms, miniscule parasites, and fricking pathogens.

Just head canon that it got damaged recently so he ditched it and this is his last stand. You lost on Oghram after all.

If they’re helmetless don’t they get a forcefield or some shit? There’s psychic powers and who knows what else around I just assumed they got the choice in their load out of helmet with in built systems or force field.

      Anonymous

      No, only some.
Forcefields are an addition, not a replacement.

Most psykers are drawn helmetless for some reason, but I assume it's just flavour because sorcerers love their helmets.

That’s why I always put helmets on every model, Whenever I go through a bits bin at a local game store between rounds I buy all the primaris head bits I can because I know this shit is going to be rampant in the near future

Better question, if the primaris are the genetically superior super soldiers to every other human in the 40k universe?

    Why are they bald?

Why can’t these 8 foot soldiers pickup the 3/10 officer who got her rank by sucking dick in the imperial guard at the bar?

She would rather get Ork’d by the 9” of nob or boy than go with the bald ass primari-cuck
