It sounds like it's an additonal step to pay your sub or buy cash shop items in Xbox FFXIV.
Like how gacha games make you buy premium currency to do rolls instead of paying for rolls directly.
So FFXIV in it's store, the mogstation, has a pre prepaid currency called Crysta. It's not necessary to get to purchase anything in the store, you can just use a credit or debit card if you so choose. The only point in I see is to prevent any form of overdraft.
My guess is Microsoft, as part of the deal to get FFXIV on Xbox, stipulated they want their own digital currency system in the same vain while going through their own store and purchasing process rather than Square Enix's.
Might be related to sony behaving like apple and not allowing any premium currency you buy on their walled garden to be used on other platforms. I know this from NGS everytime we got an AC deal they have to tell you that ps4 version AC can only be used on the PS4 version. Every other version can just use AC however.

14, as with FFXI, was always intended to work on consoles. So them basically just porting it over to Xbox is a much simpler process than trying to engineer WoW to work on it.
XIV was made with consoles in mind right from the start.
WoW was always a PC game and only a PC game. They would have to do quite a bit of work to make every aspect of the game decently playable with a controller there. Not to mention the question if the game at all could run on consoles - not because of a lack of horsepower but the old ass spaghetti code might cause issues.
There's also the issue of modern raids in WoW being basically unplayable without addons.
While I complain about FFXIV's technical debt from re-launching & being able to work on PS3, I always forgot to consider the massive nightmare that might be under WoW's hood.

That's not the point I was trying to get across in the slightest, it's that you HAVE to use coins on Xbox. You don't have the option of the mogstation and just paying straight up cash for your sub. The possible issue with this is how purchasing coins is going to work. Is it $1 = 100 Coins? It will be zero issues then and hopefully that's how it works. However, if you have to buy it in preset packages, like 500, 1000, 1500 etc, it can lead to annoying shit like something being 775.

It's quite different, Japan thinks the pinnacle of Frontline gameplay is someone calling shots and the team moving around like a Starcraft 2 deathball. The reality is that a far more effective way to win, and make sure no one has fun doing so, is to stack the most broken jobs and abuse them.

No one is asking for all of the balance to be designed around Frontline. What they are in fact asking for is that the few select problematic skills that hold FL by the balls be adjusted because they clearly were not designed with large scale pvp in mind (they also frick RW). These skills could be changed without having any effect on CC whatsoever, it's mostly related to diminishing returns when certain jobs are stacked or how said skills work on large groups of players.

At ARR launch, the PS3 imposed limitations on how character data integers and arrays in conjunction with instances needed to be handled.
In 2017 they dropped support, but they made the big, big mistake back then (probably thinking at the time the game wasn't going to grow anymore and only had a life expectancy of 2-3 more expacs in it) to keep bandaiding onto the problem and try to cope with some hardware improvements.
So now we're in 2024 with 11 years of technical debt on the way how player data is handled, and they're absolutely scared to death of having to reverse-engineer that decade of bandaids and doing a data migration, risking player data loss. Rightfully so, when you see how something like the housing lottery bug was handled.

HoH and PotD are a lot easier to climb up from the start, but, you're going to hit a wall at around floor 70ish in HoH and 140ish in PotD because enemies will absolutely chunk your health with autos compared to EO
If you end up trying EO again, I suggest you run Ninja/Samurai or Machinist for their damage
EO has higher health but enemies auto attack for far less, essentially EO is designed to be beaten by any job while PotD wasn't
HoH is just crushed by shit balance at 70 but in general is similar to PotD

this is a first, i don't think it's bad that jobs require different materia setups, but maybe there should be materia gear loadouts? on singular pieces of gear so you can still use the same piece for different jobs so you don't have to get the same gear piece again

Even in Ultimates with massive amount of incoming damage that requires coordination between two skilled healers and planned party mitigation, even in this content which forces the optimisation of both GCD and oGCD healing and mana management, even in the hardest content in the game, healers spend most of their GCDs on damage. It's simply the way the game is designed. To really force healers to heal a lot you'd need to take that level of healing and shove it into MSQ content. You'd have to redesign every healer and all the content, and alienate the majority of healers. The simpler fix is to give us a few more damage buttons to use when healing isn't required, like we used to have before SHB.
i don't really mind whatever option they choose if they ever decided to rework healers, i personally would just like more damage being thrown out, but a dps rotation again like in sb would be fine too. they just have to do SOMETHING

Yes. Criterion should've been entry-level casual challenging stuff, around EX trial level-ish with plenty of rewards, and Criterion Savage could've been for the Savagegays if it was really necessary. As it stands, having both Criterion (HARD) and Criterion (HARDER) is really superfluous.

Subjective and people probably won't feel as strongly as you do when they don't have to wait 4 months between MSQ patches, but yes, it was pretty unnecessarily fillery at times (looking at 6.3 and parts of 6.4 mainly). Really just a side-effect of them having to start a whole new thing from 6.1 to 6.5 rather than starting anew after 6.3.
