Someone fricking answer me christ I'm sick of this board
Play better
you suck
leave the mission duh
Am I supposed to evac missions and fail them.until I build.up some guys?
Yes. You are the raghead goatfrickers now. You can't fight the Americans head on so run away.
Or get some unbalanced snake girl soldiers mods
Okay... interesting....... are you serious though? Around when do you start to win missions? and how to you get corpses and stuff for research tasks?
>and how to you get corpses and stuff for research tasks?
Random, I think.
yes
Skill issue, but honestly I've never done a legend campaign with a 100% mission success rate. Especially the first few missions, there's way too much rng with too few options and it's way too easy for something to go wrong. Just roll with the punches because the game is honestly pretty boring when things go too well and everyone is max rank.
war of the chosen is literally easier than vanilla xcom 2. Just start with the templar and get parry asap.
t. someone who beat war of the chosen on ironman legendary without anyone dying
You are telling me you beat the game without a single restart. Not once did you load a old save. No mission, at all, gave you any trouble?
yup. war of the chosen is way easier than vanilla xcom 2 or enemy unknown/within. All xcom games get easy after you hit a certain point and are hard in the beginning due to low accuracy of your dudes and at legendary being annoying because grenades don't kill everyone in 1 hit.
War of the chosen they give you a templar who is 100% accurate and can tank 1 shot with zero risk so only the first 3 missions are difficult in WoTC. From mission 4 onwards you basically always have the option of letting the templar tank and when you get a reaper and the bigger squad size you can start every encounter on the enemies turn
I beat Ironman Legend twice without saves, but it took 13 attempts to do it.
The first run I did with vanilla options on, I banked on the Lost mission with the reaper and skirmisher providing free experience and preventing a harder mission from appearing, but the first mission post gatecrasher was largely luck. After that, I got mag weapons, then armor, survived my first retaliation mission, then built a robot and started murdering aliens. First the assassin went down, then the ranger, and then the ELDER'S GREATEST CHAMPION.
Second victory was when I picked a random faction to start with (I rolled a Templar on this run), turned off the DLC missions, and fought through a long, completely randomized campaign. Got the Warlock as my first chosen who was pretty easy to fight because he didn't have anything helpful to defend himself. I picked up mag weapons and beelined to Psionics, once I got a Psion with stasis the game was over.
Both times I heavily relied on the reapers to scout for me, having near perfect intel was key in winning since I could pull the exact right amount of enemies and almost always get the first strike off to clear a pod. I also used SPARKs, but it's debatable how much they helped since they came so late.
How do you get any run other than the standard railroaded DLC options? Reapers Lost Mission with Assassin is the only intro?
If you pick your starting faction soldier, it disables the intro mission. I rolled a die before reach run and went with one of the sides through that. The integrated DLC option for the Chosen turns off the Shen's Last Gift mission but I'm on the fence if that's easier or harder than leaving it on. On one hand, you get saddled with a difficult three part mission, although you get a colonel level support and a green robot to help your squad. On the other, you get a free Spark when you complete it. Unlike the Lost mission, it doesn't replace an alternative one that you'd get for the month so you'll wind up get a lot of wounded and winded soldiers for a Spark when you could just build the Spark in the foundry.
Thing is, that mission will stay there forever until you're ready to do it. Only real (?) downside is that you can't build sparks until you do it.
Same with Valen's mission, but hers is better off completely ignored since you get the best reward (the ice grenades) for free.
I think after playing, I'd rather sacrifice the two cores and build a Spark than do the mission because it preserves my soldiers for missions I can't avoid. It's hard enough I don't want to do it with the b-team but I don't want to burn my a-team's readiness just to get a Spark.
The cores I get plenty of just doing regular missions and I don't value them as much for special ammo and explosives beyond bluescreen rounds. There's some helpful ones but the random nature means I'd rather just go with the Spark since it's a sure thing.
Savescum your whole campaign
You are aware that you can pull out of missions when it's unfavorable for you right?
If you see them appear and you can't take them on just bug out as fast as possible.
You have free mimic beacons with legs.
Why are you shit?
They should remove the ability to play these games without ironman. It's like that emulation thing where you can save state, you did NOT beat the game.
Game's too buggy.
Losing because an ayy hits a fricking 7% shot and crits your guy in full cover from an angle that they should have no business having line of sight on is one thing, but losing and entire save file 10 hours in because the game fricked up and won't let you select any of your soldiers is another thing entirely.
And your point is? That's like saying that the player character should be immortal in every game because a bug might kill you.
No. It's like saying having 1 constantly over-writing save file can completely softlock you in an unplayable game-state if you run into a but that stops you progressing.
*butt
So don't play Iron man.
>game hangs up for 2 minutes
>aliens do absolutely nothing
>get a free turn
this happens frequently in the mid-to-late game
Wotc is insane frick these autism frickers
I really, really fricking hate The Lost. You just KNOW the mission is going to take an hour then.
>install mods
>chosen show up and get jumped by 12 guys
if you include War in your games title I'm going to raise the unit counts to make it feel like a war
Game is unwinnible on easy. Could of been such a great game instead they got lazy and made it into one huge save scumming adventure. Pure fricking trash.
stupid conure you shouldn’t be playing vidya go eat some seed
Don’t tell me what to do!
I'm trying this game on normal and I'm getting railroaded from the start into doing gay fricking DLC introduction missions while forced to fight billion fricking hp clay monsters with starting weapons and four rookies
played it 60+ times on those game modes and never got past the first few missions. you lose one good soldier its gg early game, since rookies are fricking useless past the first missions. the original was probably even worse, with scripted events dropping aliens straight onto escorts or your soldiers from the FRICKING SKY or triggering every mob to your exact location by accident.
You just delay doing any of the DLC content until you've got your weapons upgraded. Then it's all easy.
Also ironman is for morons.
I always savescummed the shit out of Xcom. At first I didn't want my main guy to die. Then I didn't want anyone to die. Then I didn't want anyone to be out of action for more than 10 days.
I didn't like doing it but I can't screw around starting from scratch when there's a time limit.
>find around 10 enemy mods and tweak them to not be OP or spawn in way earlier than they should
>find one or two of the many specialized ADVENT unit mods, make them the main enemy of the campaign
>use the mod that allows you to edit the boss spawns in main missions to put in unique custom pods (ie the bog standard main blacksite pod replaced by a custom pod that plays off each others strengths with a defined boss)
>Put leader of that ADVENT unit into one of the last 2 missions with its own custom name (ie a renamed mod superboss that has been configured to only spawn here)
Don’t think I’ve played a game as configurable as this one.
>turn on the "preposterously difficult" settings
>"wtf why is my game preposterously difficult now??????"
>play iron man
>game crashes after 20 hours or so
>save file lost
Before WotC, I lost my entire progress because on the very last mission an Avatar fell through the floor and the turn wouldn't end because he hadn't hit the ground yet. I could reload my save but it would occur again every time. For some reason I wasn't all that mad though because even though I didn't get to see the ending I did technically kill the last enemy in the game.
WotC is easy, lwotc though..
I couldn't finish it even on normal Ironman, since it's so fricking long that you stop thinking completely.
I'm too much of a homosexual to play on ironman, let alone legendary, but I think on the first encounter- especially with the assassin (provided you aren't doing the WOTC mission where you have your 4 squadmates and the Reaper + Skirmisher) You're pretty much expected to lose. Just let one of your soldiers get dazed, let that b***h kidnap the soldier and move on with your life and just keep rushing those squad size upgrades- abuse the resistance ring mission for a promotion to get the squad size 2 upgrade ASAP
Why the frick are you playing Iron Man? 90% of my save-scumming comes from the game not working properly
>Legendary Ironman
gaylord. If you chose Ironman Legendary, you should know the game inside and out. It's intended for people who at least finished it a few times and at least once on hard.
No, not really, it's designed for people who don't like savescumming, or masochistic people.
People who don’t like savescumming simply don’t savescum in the first place
>want to reinstall game
>100GB
>don't reinstall game
I still can't believe that this game is 10 times the size of Enemy Unknown for only slightly better graphics.
EU/W is still 40GB, it's the reason I don't keep either on my hard drive for long. They eat up 1/6 of it on their own.
Honestly when the chosen show up you should just leave if you aren't prepared for it.
Taking the L and living to fight another day is ROUGH but way better than losing good soldiers and equipment.
Whenever the chosen show up in my Ironman Legendary game I assess my odds. What are their weaknesses? Can I counter them? How fresh is my squad vs the aliens? How much time do I have etc. I try to be realistic then make a judgement call.
Ironman Legendary is fricking HARD. You won't win if you don't know when to walk away from a bad fight.
just throw the rookies at em, more blood for the blood elders
>Play Ironman Legend
>Run in to same roadblock
>Get pissed about how unfair it is
>Just leave soldier stunned because frick it, the run is over here anyway
>Assassin doesn't actually finish off the solider
>Doesn't even abduct them, just interrogates them right there, gets some intel, and leaves
>Realize I can just let the assassin "win" for the first month since they can't appear in back to back missions and then wreck her as soon as I have something to do it with
>Get a UFO defense mission on my second month as punishment for cheesing the assassin though
Not a bad tradeoff, and frankly I'm happy to actually see an assault on the Avenger just for new content. The other part, more dark events going off, is a fair trade for not having to deal with the Chosen so early.
The Chosen just want intel you can put off fighting them by sacrificing a lamb to them they won't kill who they beat up instead they'll knock them out and kidnap them promptly fricking off. Each chosen has weaknesses you can exploit whenever you do a mission in their region they can appear as long as they haven't appeared in the last 2 missions you've done, if they appeared 3 missions ago you have a 50% chance of encountering them if it was 4 they will always appear note this counter applies even if you do missions outside of their region. They also tend to ignore this rule for special missions you can take on your own time like factories and blacksites.
For me it's
>WotC
>Classic
>Ironman
>Grim Horizon
>A Better Advent (improved enemy AI + new enemies all the way up to endgame)
>Invisible aim bonuses disabled
>Doom Timer management nerf
>Remove Rizzo
This is what Peak XCOM 2 looks like
Ranger and Wizard chosen are jokes. Only the assassin is threatening at all.
Hell, the ranger will literally do nothing but his gay little telegraphed attack that you just move away from.
Also progression feels very random in the game sometimes. In my latest run I basically became godlike in a few weeks from accelerated researches, but the previous one I was barely done with the first two weeks when I was already fighting goddamn sectopods.
My recommendation is if you have the shen/german lady DLCs, don't "integrate" them when you start the run, and instead toggle them on individually. This will make their initial missions actually show up, meaning you can safely ignore them until you're ready. Specially so for the fricking king alien shits.
No, Hunter is the scariest by far. He's only a joke at long range because that's the only time he uses the telegraphed shots. Once he actually gets close he can grapple and flank shot + debuff anyone and he crits all the time while doing this. Assassin barely does any damage and gets way less scary once a medic has the ability to revive someone who's dazed.
completely doable until you start turning on second wave options
beta strike specifically makes the game nigh impossible because you get a bunch of sectoids with infinite hp mind controlling everyone
>Get UFO defense on beta strike
>Literally cannot kill the Muton pod at start before they all walk to my ramp and capture it
Finally had to scuttle the run when four critical hits weren't enough to kill them.
Any mod recommendations? I grabbed a bunch of extra customization mods from the workshop but they all don't seem to work together all that well.
Just pick a Mod-Jam collection that has been updated this year, download The collection and you are good to go. Maybe add more cosmetic mods if you want.
Can I turn Xcom into an assault girl game?
