Why is there 3 threads per day now about someone talking about 16GB RAM?
Is this a shill campaign by Amazon or someone to sell more RAM? have a nice day.
Runs out pretty easily, my machine is swapping playing BG3 and 3 Firefox threads open.
Down to 16GB at the moment because one of my RAM sticks died and I'm waiting for the RMA
Does your shit slow down to a crawl and stutter while you're playing it? Does your OS pop up a message saying you should close some shit down because you're running out of memory? No to all of that? Then you're okay
That's just wrong.
Never had any issue adding more RAM later in a ton of PCs.
Worst that can happen is dual channel not working. Which won't be a problem if he just adds another 2x8GB.
It depends on you CPU, really. I know Ryzen cpus prefer having either two dual channel sticks or four single channel sticks for better performance. The performance difference between both these set ups is negligible, and either is vastly better than just using a single stick of ram.
If you're a winjeet then probably not
Many games require 16gb minimum ram or they will refuse to even launch, like aw2. Makes sense because epic game store/steam + windoze is like 10gb ram alone right there
If you're just gaming in fullscreen with no background tasks or tab switching, then 16gb is okay... but a pc is a multipurpose device, and ram is cheap, so you're gimping your rig hard with all the concessions you have to make for your games to run smooth on 16gb of ram.

no you need 300gb of ram
Are you building a new PC? Get 32, shit is cheap anyway. Are you on an older PC? As long as you aren't hitting the limits it doesn't really matter.

yes, why would you need more?
you're not one of those homosexuals who plays every new triple A game, are you?
you shouldn't fill all four slots right? im running 2x 8gb, feels like such a waste to ditch these and buy 2x16gb
Nothing wrong with using all 4
Just get another 2x8GB, try to get RAM that either matches or is faster than your current.
>just get another 2x8GB
Mixing ram like that causes sysem instability. Things like random errors or the computer not booting.
If he has 2 8gig sticks and he puts in another 2 8gig sticks in he'll be fine
That's just wrong.

dual channel is more efficient but there's nothing wrong with using all slots
>feels like such a waste to ditch these
Why? How long have you used them for? Ram is so dirt cheap nowadays.

works for me
need a new CPU though but then I have to get a new mobo which means getting new everything else too which sucks
you can just upgrade your bios unless your mb is from the 1900s
do you even know what a cpu socket is?
I have 16GB
how do I know when I would need more RAM
you need more ram when you start having issues because of lack of ram (slowing, freezing, crashing)
If I was building a new PC I'd use 32gb.
It'll probably be several more years before that much RAM is actually necessary though.

You need at least 10TB of RAM. You need more RAM. More RAM. Ram some more RAM in there. Ram it. The RAM. RAAAM. MORE. MOOOOOOORE.
>You need at least 10TB of RAM.
I need you to convert that number into opened chrome tabs for me to decide if I need the upgrade.
If the average chrome tab is 70MB then 10TB would get you 142857 tabs.
That is acceptable.
why are you gay?
Growing up with 512MB ram I've the habit of closing any tabs of programs i don't use even today
i got an amd gpu and my boyfriend laughed at me and added another 3 months to my chastity.
No, you should definitely download some more asap
