Is 4K actually a meaningful upgrade from 1080p or is it all just woke bullshit? I looked at a 4k tv once and I could barely tell the difference but then you'll need like 5x the hardware power to run it.

Made the jump from 1440p to 4k late last year. It goes beyond video games looking like video games and more like moving pictures. There's no pixels even if you shove your nose into the screen. It may not sound like much but it is a world of difference.

I just did the jump from 1440p to 4k and I would say it is worth it, but it isn't worth giving up high FPS for.
If you can do 4k while keeping 60 FPS or above, then it is worth it, but if you cannot keep 60 FPS then stick to 1440.
The colour is 4 times better at 4k. Even on my 1080p monitor, 4k rendering looks better in every way. The lack of any need for TAA is another advantage. 4k+smaa is all you need in the vast majority of games. Older games may not play well with 4k because they lack font scaling and the ui as a whole might have issues if you play old games in borderless windowed mode through digital trickery.

I would try a miniled 4k monitor but you got the gp27u firmware issues and 27m2v with its bad input lag around 60hz and the acer model with bad ghosting.
1440@165hz is where it's at. Anything above 60hz is good. I used to be 60hz pleb but oh boy i repent, anything above 90hz is good, i mean anything above 120hz is good.

on anything above 45 size 4k makes a huge difference as long as you're watching it on a proper screen, there's a lot of bullshit cheap ass screens, especially Samsung, that write OLED4K on the box and make idiots go all like "I've seen 4k and I couldn't tell the difference", yeah no shit
I just got a new tv that actually displays in 4k and it doesn’t feel like the huge leap it should be. I would forget its not 1080p just about immediately

RE4, even with FSR2 or DLSS2 (modded) at 4K Performance (rendered at 1080p) feels like night and day when compared to integer scaled 1080p, in my opinion.
In older titles, especially the ones that support MSAA, 4K only makes a subtle difference when compared to native 1080p display or integer scaled 1080p to 4K. In more recent ones, especially the ones with PBR, it actually does.
I gotta be honest I only tried with movies. My roommate has a PS5 but I don’t really pay attention when he plays so I couldn’t accurately judge

If youre close to the monitor/tv it makes a difference, if youre a couple feet back you'll barely notice.
I know you're making a joke, but to anyone wondering: I've used 1080p, 1440p and 4k and I'll pick 4k any day of the week. It is CRISP.
I can tell the difference between 720 and 1080, but I really see nothing beyond it.

As someone who has used the best 1080p monitors back in the mid 2010s, the best 1440p monitors in the late 2010s, and having now used a top of the line 4k monitor for a couple of months, 4K is quite a big improvement. I do want to mention that I have 20/20 vision. What's an even bigger improvement than 4K is HDR. Be on the look out for that.
Having said all of that. I do not believe the hardware of today is fully capable of running 4K smoothly. You can have a 7950X3D + an RTX 4090, and your system is still going to be punished on 4K if you want a high refresh rate. The next generation or the one after that might make 4K more usable.
4K is definitely the future and where we are heading towards.

Unless you’re standing really close to the TV it doesn’t matter. I still haven’t personally gotten a 4K TV, partially because TV manufactures won’t make regular TVs anymore and insist on adding features that skyrocket the price, like smart functionality, VRR, HDR and OLED. Cheaper TVs are made bad on purpose as well to make you give up and spend more money. LCD screens tend to have horrible backlight bleed that they didn’t used to because they’re made so cheap now, and I’m talking about ones from major companies like Samsung. You also have to have some kind of external speaker because they make these things so thin that they can only have tin can speakers.
As for resolution obviously, but they tend to be shittier quality. I had a friend who had a 27" 4k tv with shit colors, bad response, ghosting and it hurted my head even after playing with the tv settings, although it improved disabling the dynamic contrast and shit.
My 1080p looked way better, at it was a lot cheaper.
I would still leap to 4k if I find a good offer tho
for me it's custom resolution tweaked for my monitor. obviously i won't share the settings because it will make it "sjw" and "reddit", but believe me it looks glorious. stay strong brother and dont fall for western propaganda!
