No, there isn't anything completely game breaking, but it does need some patches, and some of the companions seem to have stuff that wasn't flagged correctly to trigger.
>small dialogue here and there
the final conversations at the ending doesn't trigger correctly either, unless they made it specifically that you could only talk to your party
Give it to me straight, what's the best cleric type?
Shar, so you can have something in common with Shart, or Selune so its even more fun
>Shar, so you can have something in common with Shart
They disabled Shar as deity option for player characters in the release version. No Bhaal, Bane and Myrkul either now.
Act 3 is my favorite but
1. It's clearly rushed
2. Bane should have been the sole villain, Bhaal should have been Act 4 villain, instead everything is crammed together
3. There's nowhere near as much content in the city as they promised
4. The performance is trash
5. Due to being so late in the game is pretty buggy
6. It's FULL of degenerate shit
7. Half the npcs are black women
8. Despite Default Tav being from Baldur's Gate you have NO CONTENT in the city, no house, no personal quest, nothing

Yes but DoS2 wasn't literally called "Arx City" or anything like that. They have no excuse to make a game called Baldur's gate in which 99% of the game doesn't even happen in baldur's gate.
>They have no excuse to make a game called Baldur's gate in which 99% of the game doesn't even happen in baldur's gate.
I already played Dragon Age 2. Spending the entire game in the city would get old very fast.
>8. Despite Default Tav being from Baldur's Gate you have NO CONTENT in the city, no house, no personal quest, nothing
tbf im fairly certain Tav is from the upper city, that said
WHY THE FRICK CAN'T WE ENTER THE UPPER CITY
>3. There's nowhere near as much content in the city as they promised
They either promised a lot or you're a lying prostitute.
You can't swing a cat without hitting a quest about some fricking conspiracy.
It's clearly unfinished but it's not outright bad.
They'll keep patching the game and it'll be good eventually. Maybe once the enhanced edition rolls around.
CONS >pretty buggy (both quests and performance) >theres less sense of progression because youll be max level or very close to it by the time you get to the city >story potentially grinds to a halt as you do silly ass quests all over the place >quests are kinda short compared to previous ones
PROS >city feels like a proper city compared to other games >a lot of callbacks to previous acts, including ending of some companion quests so thats pretty cool
I think this wins on sheer virtue of being able to start fricking chaos. Novigrad feels like a themepark as in you can only interact with it at a surface level and its got all the big checkmarks setup for you via yellow !s. In BG3 you can and will miss shit if you don't talk to everything.
Turn all the graphics settings related to crowds off/Low. One is called animation quality and the other is called dynamic crowds, or something like that. Will save your FPS as well as it can.
No. In fact, I am very positively surprised that the game does not compromise its scale, systems, and scope in Act 3. It is rougher than the earlier half, but that was to be expected, and polishing it up will be simple.
Anyone that b***hes and moans about the third act is being a baby or just a hater.
>game does not compromise its scale
The entire Upper City is not available and that's after going on about how they went out of their way to make the whole Baldur's Gate immersive and seamless just a month before the release.
Does anyone else feel that the enemy AI has gotten worse in act 3? It feels like it takes longer for them to make decisions and they do stupid shit more often. When I fought Gortash, he ran out of his throne room and got stuck in a corner near the stairs where I beat him to death in two turns. I don't think that was the intended experience.
As many have said there are plenty of interactions right at the end of Act 2 and mostly in Act 3 where you literally lose player agency. The writers fragility is showing because they don't want their ideological beliefs challenged.
There's a quest by the harbor (near the factory) in Act 3 where a group of mermaids are asking you to look into the murder of one of their people. Kill the murderer and they'll give you that armor.
>No you just delete them in one turn and move on, did not even know they can res stuff.
They have 50hp+ 20 shield and resistance to everything but radiant damage.
Their shield reduces my potential 30+ hits into less than 5 and i got 60% hitchance which is bullshit and lower than the game says.
please explain to me how you 1 shotted them.
I tried it for almost an hour before it froze during combat, this was after it had a noticeable slowdown exploring around. I'm just gonna put BG3 away for awhile and hope they patch act 3 soon
Performance wise yeah. Quality wise I think its better than act 1, and you get some real fricking power fantasy with the fights and gear. Act 1 gear has some ups, but holy shit they let you get fricking bonkers strong in act 3.
>get console tier frame rate >already at max level but still have roughly a dozen quests to do plus maybe more that I haven't stumbled across yet >most of the portals seem to be really distant from the places that you actually want to frequently go to >some of the quests were obviously rushed, either buggy or really limited in their approach >ten billion other quests all need to be resolved because all the characters are getting their personal stories wrapped up
I have the exact opposite issue that people apparently have with Act 3, there's in fact way too much going on. Everyone needs to be taken to their special companion quest, all the baddies want you to do their thing, every other character that you met in Act 1 and 2 now show up also with their own quests plus all the actual new quests that get dropped on you and you have to do a light jog to get everywhere and honestly it's exhausting. I think I have to take a small break from the game because it's actually turning into a chore being every NPC's personal servant.
Worst thing is I've been level 12 for a pretty long time now, it would have been good to at least have some new spells or abilities to look forward to. Instead all the XP that I'm getting now is just going to waste.
"Absolute homosexuals could be here" Fela bardgay thought, "I've never been in this cave area before. There could be homosexuals anywhere." The cool wind felt good against his handsome half-elf face. "I hate homosexuals" he thought. Old Time Battles reverberated his entire raft, making it pulsate even as the 9 gold wine circulated through his powerful thick veins and washed away his (merited) fear of Astarion,Gale,Wyll and Halsin after dark. "With a raft, you can go anywhere you want" he said to himself, out loud
It's buggy >Go to save the gnomes >Bad guy says he'll blow them all up if I don't leave >Leave and look for another solution >There is inexplicably no other solution (cut content maybe?) >Go back to the gnomes >He starts blowing them up >Try to save them before they all die >Because I turned around the first time they've all bugged out and can't move when freed >Painstakingly dimension door a few of them to safety over multiple turns >They rest die
The problem is the quest progression in act 3 gets real buggy and that's the worst type of buggy for many people (for obvious reasons). The content there itself, IMO, is perfectly fine and it's a pretty good act (better than 2). It just has a lot of potential for disappointment or duds because some quest trigger or flag shits the bed and you don't get conclusions to stuff you should have.
Its honestly the most disappointed I've been in video games in my whole life. I lived in Ganker hype threads for years before release and it lived up to expectations until act 3.
It just falls apart. It collapses.
Story goes to the gutter, game is plagued with bugs and the city is just tedious to navigate and quest in.
It could have been the game but it bled out at the finish line and I'll mourn this fact for the rest of my life.
I think my biggest criticism with the game is that I'm more invested in side quests than the main quest. The entire Shadowheart line, hunting down Cazador, Wyll's quest with that dungeon under Wyrm's Rock. Those are the peaks of Act 3 for me.
All the shit with Gortash and Orin? The pacing just felt really weird. They aren't introduced until the end of Act 2 so they just felt really shoehorned in as the main villains I should now care about. It felt weird that Ketheric got an entire Act and these two are just mashed together into a few encounters in Act 3.
I assume it was an issue with scope where if they were given infinite development time they may have had separate acts for both Gortash and Orin.
Orin for sure was the better of the two. Gortash really just had the factory and the prison break which would've been a lot more memorable if it wasn't bugged to shit for me and I had to retry it multiple times before the NPCs would even move.
Gortash shit was just ... tedious Oh no, gotta sabotage the news paper oh no, gotta sabotage the factory oh no, gotta rescue gnome family before sabotaging factory oh no, gotta turn off traps or just eurojank him, how fun
Overall tho, i love this game
>oh no, gotta rescue gnome family before sabotaging factory
Just kill the blind homosexual and talk to his corpse to get the code, it's way less tedious this way.
>turn off traps
Wait really? Those thing spit out free grenades to throw at him The traps killed him in a chain explosion on turn 2 for me, most anticlimactic thing in the entire game.
>I think my biggest criticism with the game is that I'm more invested in side quests than the main quest
Damn, it is a real baldur's gate game after all.
From skimming this thread, I think it's probably a wise idea to wait out a month so that they fix out the kinks in the late game. I had a gut feeling it was going to be like this.
I don't have anyone else to talk to about this but I had to get my dog euthanized today. She was such a good girl and I'm really gonna miss her. Sorry for the irrelevant post anons
Play the game to have fun and be creative or end up like every other minmax buildhomosexual that complains about things being easy because its possible to 1 turn kill stuff.
I had fun in act 1 and 2 but 3 was just boring
Most fights felt like trash fights that just took my time
I don't think I minmaxed particularly hard, it just felt like balance gets really fricked, maybe it's better on tactician but on normal the ball in Raph's place was literally more dangerous than him
Its only a slog if you keep holding yourself back on trying not to use spell slots. Just go all out and fights end insanely quick >popping haste potions on everyone >2 spells or tons of attacks per turn
I really enjoyed all acts but the least enjoyable part was basically the endgame of the game, the endgame sequence itself and when i only had Gortash left to kill, it was just boring and uninteresting
Im also confused on mountain pass, is that technically part of Act 1, because if you go there some stuff will be impossible to do if you decide to go back, so its kinda halfway there to act 2? like an act 1.5 >maybe it's better on tactician
>maybe it's better on tactician
No, Tactician is still a joke.
Tactician is not hard in most cases and surprisingly easy.
You may encounter some bullshit mobs that have special abilities or buffs, but overall its not harder imo, just more effort needed to do things.
The combat is shit no matter what the difficulty after Act 1 >Act 1: you're weak enough and don't have access to lv 5 for the majority so the game can actually keep up >Act 2: *casts pic related at every relevant overworld boss* >Act 3: be lv 12 death squad while the game keeps throwing lv 8/9 doppelganger shitters at you that don't even know what a lv 3 spell is or throws a mage shitter with barely more than 100hp at you next to a precarious ledge
I genuinely ask why the entire Ganker board is threads about this gay fricking game? Why isn't there some kind of sticky or only 1-4 threads allowed at the same time, or better yet just go to /vg/, why does this homosexual game need to occupy nearly the entire site jesus christ
Everyone is playing it and everyone wants to talk about all facets of the game, in different threads devoted to those facets. Sorry you aren’t into it. Maybe you should buy it so you can keep up. You don’t want hogwarts legacy to be the biggest game of the year…do you?
Why can't I use ropes for anything in this game? I picked some up early on expecting to be able to use them to descend into perilous holes or whatever.
Is it possible to start a romance with Karlach in act 3?
I flirted with Shadowheart a single time in act 1, killed her in act 2, and since then despite max approval with Karlach, hugging her, having some romantic scene at the carnival I have never gotten the ability to ask her a single thing about herself besides what it's like having an engine in her.
i tried on my first playthrough, i dumped the dry pork orc and tried for Karlach, no go.
This time tho i am all in for Karlach simply because i want to take her out for dinner.
I'm sorry anon she's in the friendzone now and it's not a happy ending. She has no truly happy ending unless you play as her
That's so lame. They really fricked up all the companion shit in this game. Very easy to accidentally romance or flirt with a character and then the only way to say you're not interested is telling them you want to murder them basically. Then if you ever did flirt you're locked forever out of any other romance.
I am 50 hours in near the end and I just accidentally clicked on Gale and suddenly I can tell him how we have something special and shit, the game seems to think I've been dating this man and fricking him up the ass all this time, out of nowhere. So gay
most of the companions are free for all bawds that will frick whoever you are and wont mind sharing you with others, its weird shit, but hey its a fantasy game so i dont give a frick.
like here are the mandatory can't talk your way out fights in Rivington which is like 25-33% of Act 3 >doppel shitters in the caves >doppel shitters in the circus >doppel shitters larping as harpers >stone lord thugs that get gangbanged by the guild
This shit is awful and you basically have to start annihilating steel flamer patrols to get even a modicum of satisfaction from the combat
No, there isn't anything completely game breaking, but it does need some patches, and some of the companions seem to have stuff that wasn't flagged correctly to trigger.
>the companions seem to have stuff that wasn't flagged correctly to trigger.
I've had this feeling since I was 10 hours in and still in act 1.

Yes, it shits the bed
If you run the game at 60fps it will run 20 in the last act.
It's even worse, actually. My advise is to forget about the game until they roll out Definitive Edition update.

If they can give you optional tavern's top floor as the camp they easily can give you class-based bases as well.

Common Larian thingy
They only do good that part that was presented in Early Access.
Pacing is awful, bunch of AND THERE WAS ANOTHER VILLAIN ALL ALONG, buggy. It should be the hub in act 2 and not 3
>act 2
Act 2 feels more like a large secondary area like the underdark was in act 1 instead of deserving its own act.
>AND THERE WAS ANOTHER VILLAIN ALL ALONG, buggy.
Buggy the Clown is the final villain?
His name is Nibbles the Clown
So if act 1 took three year of paid beta should we expect the complete edition in 6 years?
How can I get these bawd clothes for Astarion?

why are people calling the game "acts"?
is it some homosexual play or something?
Yes anon at the end of the game you find out the whole game is actually being played by trans they/them kids in a school play.
its an acting game you moron
Because the game calls them acts. That's why.

act 3 is my favorite. Bravo, Larian
all the endings are so bad i pray for a definitive edition in 2 years or mods to save it.
I JUST WANT AN ENDING WHERE I BECOME AN HONEST TO GOD VAMPIRE NOT JUST SOME VAMPIRE SPAWN ONAHOLE
It's buggy

Grymforge?
No it's in act 3, I was vague to avoid spoilers.
These kinds of games are so massive, it's no wonder they're filled with bugs. Divinity OS2 had multiple broken quests in Act 2, for example.
The problem is the quest progression in act 3 gets real buggy and that's the worst type of buggy for many people (for obvious reasons). The content there itself, IMO, is perfectly fine and it's a pretty good act (better than 2).
There main story quests are fine. Some buggy side quests and janky story triggers doesn't invalidate everything else.
Orin stuff is kino because its tied in to a multitude of other plots relating to murder and mayhem going on around in the city
Orin for sure was the better of the two. Gortash really just had the factory and the prison break which would've been a lot more memorable if it wasn't bugged to shit for me and I had to retry it multiple times before the NPCs would even move.
Gortash shit was just ... tedious
Oh no, gotta sabotage the news paper
oh no, gotta sabotage the factory
oh no, gotta rescue gnome family before sabotaging factory
oh no, gotta turn off traps or just eurojank him, how fun
Overall tho, i love this game
>oh no, gotta rescue gnome family before sabotaging factory
Just kill the blind homosexual and talk to his corpse to get the code, it's way less tedious this way.
achievement hunting
That Iron Fortress quest was utter bullshit. The worst one in the entire game.
>turn off traps
Wait really? Those thing spit out free grenades to throw at him
The traps killed him in a chain explosion on turn 2 for me, most anticlimactic thing in the entire game.
>I think my biggest criticism with the game is that I'm more invested in side quests than the main quest
Damn, it is a real baldur's gate game after all.
From skimming this thread, I think it's probably a wise idea to wait out a month so that they fix out the kinks in the late game. I had a gut feeling it was going to be like this.
in terms of big budget game launches, this one is not that bad and fully playable
ARE INGOTS FRICKING USED FOR ANYTHING OR NOT
GOOGLE KEEPS TELLING ME THERE IS A WORKBENCH I CAN USE TO UPGRADE STUFF IN ACT 3
WHERE
IT DOESNT EXIST. AM I BEING TROLLED BY AI WRITTEN JOURNAL ARTICLES OR SOMETHING
SHOULD I JUST SELL THESE FRICKING THINGS? I HAVE LIKE 80 SILVER INGOTS
No, they aren't used for anything. I imagine its leftover from a cut crafting system to make or upgrade act 1 armor.
That makes sense, thank you. Sometimes it's annoying trying to parse the bullshit from the shit just leftover from years of EA.
They're vendor trash.
>I imagine its leftover from a cut crafting system
Probably this
I don't have anyone else to talk to about this but I had to get my dog euthanized today. She was such a good girl and I'm really gonna miss her. Sorry for the irrelevant post anons
Sorry to hear, buy a new one
>5 bazillion pointless quests
>you reach the level cap at the start of act 3
>enemy spam
>bosses are complete fricking pushover
>random bg1/2 cameos
>no ending slides
yes it's shit
Play the game to have fun and be creative or end up like every other minmax buildhomosexual that complains about things being easy because its possible to 1 turn kill stuff.
I had fun in act 1 and 2 but 3 was just boring
Most fights felt like trash fights that just took my time
I don't think I minmaxed particularly hard, it just felt like balance gets really fricked, maybe it's better on tactician but on normal the ball in Raph's place was literally more dangerous than him
>maybe it's better on tactician
No, Tactician is still a joke.
Its only a slog if you keep holding yourself back on trying not to use spell slots. Just go all out and fights end insanely quick
>popping haste potions on everyone
>2 spells or tons of attacks per turn
I really enjoyed all acts but the least enjoyable part was basically the endgame of the game, the endgame sequence itself and when i only had Gortash left to kill, it was just boring and uninteresting
Im also confused on mountain pass, is that technically part of Act 1, because if you go there some stuff will be impossible to do if you decide to go back, so its kinda halfway there to act 2? like an act 1.5
>maybe it's better on tactician
Tactician is not hard in most cases and surprisingly easy.
You may encounter some bullshit mobs that have special abilities or buffs, but overall its not harder imo, just more effort needed to do things.
The combat is shit no matter what the difficulty after Act 1
>Act 1: you're weak enough and don't have access to lv 5 for the majority so the game can actually keep up
>Act 2: *casts pic related at every relevant overworld boss*
>Act 3: be lv 12 death squad while the game keeps throwing lv 8/9 doppelganger shitters at you that don't even know what a lv 3 spell is or throws a mage shitter with barely more than 100hp at you next to a precarious ledge
Now go kill Raphael on tactician
*cast Hold Monster*
Nothing personnel.
try that
My vampire lord crossbows akimbo 5 (+2 offhand) Astarion hit him for ~263 damage in a single turn.
They would need to animate scenes for that, and in so many places.
Fair point. I really hope that's a feature that gets added in an expansion or something. There's so many creative ways they could be used.
I'm sorry anon she's in the friendzone now and it's not a happy ending.
She has no truly happy ending unless you play as her
Give it to me straight, what's the best cleric type?
Anyone had the bug where one of your party has their inventory wiped?
How about the one where the UI disappears for one of your characters in combat?
like here are the mandatory can't talk your way out fights in Rivington which is like 25-33% of Act 3
>doppel shitters in the caves
>doppel shitters in the circus
>doppel shitters larping as harpers
>stone lord thugs that get gangbanged by the guild
This shit is awful and you basically have to start annihilating steel flamer patrols to get even a modicum of satisfaction from the combat
>Rivington which is like 25-33% of Act 3
>25-33% of Act 3
Oh my sweet summer child.
>doppel shitters
basic b***h doppels aside, i did like how Orin seemed to be hounding your every step, shame they didn't keep that up
