Definitive Edition is on sale, is it a worthwhile upgrade to HD edition? Can my old save file carry over?

You mean for the campaigns?
yeah
I doubt it
that's okay, so as for the game itself - is definitive edition worth buying if i already own hd edition?
Has new civs, new campaigns, and reworks the old campaigns mostly for the better (redone voice acting for vanilla and conquerors can frick off).
Why do morons think this is anything like HD was to the original?
DE has so, SO many improvements it would be moronic to not get it if you love Age of Empires, it addresses pretty much all the issues gameplay-wise. There's very little to complain about, some unit voices are low effort and should be changed but modding can cover all of those if they do not fix them officially.
>Why do morons think this is anything like HD was to the original?
Because the Steam pages for both don't make the obvious distinction, and there's even a bundle which is HD (w/o DLC) + DE which is fricking wasteful of your wallet.
it's an inferior version of the game that won't be played in a month, multiple extremely serious bugs haven't been fixed since release and the devs don't even know how to fix things without breaking something else
Nobody is going back to HD lmao
The only thing that should keep you from getting Definitive Edition is that its not very well optimized, so if you have a potato pc you wont even be able to run it. Its justified by being a really beautiful version of Age 2, its visually amazing and the gameplay has been improved like a motherfricker with a ton of quality of life fixes that let you focus your attention on the important things instead of worrying about silly things like your villagers collecting from the same sheep or your farms going all *chikichiki* on you when you are in the middle of a fight. More over, definitive edition includes all civs and all campaigns and they have all been overhauled, making the sp experience waaaaaaay better.
Dont get me wrong, there are still isues to be fixed, last time i played was a couple months ago and i felt like the pathfinding was kinda wack (in a different way than HD), there were connectivity issues like in HD but they fricked up the game saving system for multiplayer (if a player drops, and someone saves the game after the fact, when they restore it, the player dropped slot is occupied by a bot and cant be taken by the player) among other things.
Shit should get fixed eventually but multiplayer can get frustrating because of those issues, so keep that in mind.
Game still got VRAM leaks?
Yes. Worth it's price.
>upgrade from HD edition
b***h Black person, it's like a whole new game, HD was just the same game with fire and farm textures fricked up, and you still had to buy all the DLC's for the extra civs
you get better engine so that you can have far larger battles than just 100 units in the play that tanks the game to a frame per second
You get all the possible civs and 4 new ones, you get revamped and fleshed out campaign missions, improved AI, better online play with tons of new features and tons of quality of life enhancements.
Does this version include all the DLC from the HD version? Why did they feel the need to remake a remake anyways?
yawn. wake me when Warcraft III Remastered comes out
AoE is a better game
Yes definitely worth it.
Buy Age of Empires 1 DE too and wait for AoE 3 DE.
>AoE 3 DE
That will be several years
The 3 DE beta comes out next month y'absolute dingus.
Probably late this year - early 2021. They want to launch it before AoE 4. AoM DE will happen probably after AoE 4.
Your old saves almost certainly wont carry over. Alot of the campaigns have been changed. From minor changes like enemy civs being more historically accurate to big ones like Dracula's being a solid 80ish% different. Still very worth a play.
Buying DE for the campaign is a waste, right?
>All campaigns ever released (fixed too) + 1 more.
It's worth it.
I have 90 hours in it and I havent even touched multiplayer. Its got 4 new campaigns and all of the other ones are much better now.
I played this game for the first time at six years old along with Tiberium Sun. Good times.
