How do we save Xbox?
Time travel
Segay 2.0
It's a good thing you can emulate the whole Switch library on PC.
It was worth it back when old consoles were $50.
what are they now
$too fricking much
Just a quick search on ebay... the cheapest no modded its like 500€
>ebay
>Euro
Nobody owned an Xbox in Europe, so no wonder they are rare. And PAL games? Frick that
They're 100 euro now. Picked one up a year ago for 50.
Games are really cheap tho since nobody in europe cares for it. 90% is around 5 euro
Huh, cheapest one in good condition that I found is 23 euros
plus 7 games btw
hmmm, still less than a small pc + emulators + controllers, but then that's before you include the cost of games
so PC wins again
>Xbox
>Emulator
It's still not great, but it's getting there.
It was never worth buying ever.
The start-up sound and animation... s o u l
im actually crying
>PS2
7-8 souls in the Abyss just having fun dancing in circles, right after you get treated to odd marble towers rising from the background indicating your saved game data, as if they are monuments constructed in the names of the warriors who you play as
>Gamecube
this odd cube can stretch and shrink at will and transforms one of its faces into the game you are currently playing. every face of the cube is used for some sort of purpose
kino
That sound is actually synthesized on the fly. There was no space on the boot ROM for a high quality audio clip (it would've been crap ass mono for a console that was supposed to support surround sound), so the sound engineer wrote a program to assume direct control of the sound chip's synthesizers like it's the 16 bit era and read the commands off a cue file to synchronize it to the intro animation.
actual pure kino straight from the source
It sounds like bubbling farts and lightning with a bell near the end. Great stuff
They all come with capacitor leakage corrosion and possible minor board damage just due to time. You will have to open up the system to check and remove said clock capacitor if it hasn't been removed already.
If you can grab one for no more then 50$ and are willing to tinker (softmod, HDswap, date/time cap replacement and repaste) its a wonderful entry to the 6th gen with a lot of flexibility. I use mine fairly regularly and tbh its so much faster then the PS2 that if anything came out on both rest assured the Xbox is the superior platform (Sw BF2, Black, etc). I enjoy mine.
not really. there were some PS2 versions that were superior.
How much are you willing to mod it? Because a vanilla Xbox isn't really due to issues that happen over time. You really want to softmod it, replace anything that could break inside of it, lubricate the DVD drive gears and maybe even potentially replace it, replace the HDD, and some people even do an HDMI mod.
why the frick you want an HDMI port when you have component. is not like the console will magically run at better resolution.
720p and 1080i is all you need for it's performance.
People mostly do it for the convenience since modern TVs and monitors typically have HDMI and DP.
not really. in general people tend to not keep the adaptors that comes with their TV. i've seen it so much times.
>ohh. i thought it was a headphone jack
>and some people even do an HDMI mod.
You can just buy HDMI adapters, like ElectronXout.
I can't decide whether to buy the original or 360. People say that both tend to break for different reasons and I don't feel like opening either up and trying to fix shit.
360 is weaker than the original one in term of build quality.
the classic one basically has 2 points of failure.
- the time capacitor (because some moron didn't
remove it like a decade ago). open wiggle it until is removed. all you lose is the time in the console everytime it start. if it has soft mod it gets the time by internet all the time.
- the KEY of your hard drive. when you swap the hard drive you need to change the key of the harddrive or the console. if you didn't is a pain in the ass to do it when the only drive is dead.
softmod let you back up or modify the key very easily.
at the end. nothing here is like a ring of dead.or overheat like the ps3
Both the original xbox and 360 are awesome systems and the games are not ps1/gamecube levels of expensive at the moment.
soul... soul... soul.... soul.... xbox go back to your roots
Such a simpler time. Modern Microsoft is just massive eyesore to look at. They been reduced to a generic woke coperate brand but filled with pajeets who only care about profits over risk. From funding and securing exclusives like whacked, buffy vampire slayer, sudeki and dead or alive xtreme 1 & 2, to funding only woke halo, gears and forza normie slop. Phil Spencer is the worst thing to happen for xbox.
Imagine if Phil sees this. Just IMAGINE if modern Xbox sees this after they made guidelines on inclusivity regarding female apperances...
Even the Xbox logo was so soulful
if I search this up how come the box art she wears a dress?
Idk dummy, why?
It's a running gag that every time she puts on a dress it blows up.
Also she fricks a chair. She has some problems.
This entire game was actually pretty dark.
I have a copy of this but I'm not sure if she's naked in it. I'd have to look it up.
God I must have played thousands of hours of this, but only on the trial version you got with the xbox live disk.
>and the games are not ps1/gamecube levels of expensive at the moment
The reason I started getting into it. Most PS2 titles are dirt cheap right now too but og xbox runs multiplats better usually.
>>and the games are not ps1/gamecube levels of expensive at the moment
>Search for MvC2 for Xbox
>$150
Some already are
Some were rare since a year after release, but they have to be legit rare.
I own 140 games, and the most rare one is still sub €60
360 also has a ton of shmups and anime shit games if that's your fancy grab a Japanese 360, probably pretty cheap, nobody really wants to buy one, also cheap controllers.
360 Is probably the cheapest console to buy games for right now, but even the later versions of the system will burn out to the red ring eventually.
Even the E model that came out at the same time as the Xbone?
A lot less likely. It's still worth a buy over the original model. Just actually take care of and clean your consoles.
I hope this isn't the case, I have a white orignal one from 2005 and it's still kicking
The 360, in spite of its faults, was built much sturdier than modern consoles (especially the controllers)
Though if mine goes out I'll probably look into getting a modded one
You bought so much trash and so much bangers I'm kinda amazed.
>why 2 LoTR games?
>Arx Fatalis on console
>Too Human
LMAO
>Kung Fu Chaos
Did this come with the console? I don't know a single person who had an xbox and didn't have kung fu chaos, but no one ever talks about it.
Not when I got mine. I owned the game because I bought it from blockbuster
I can tell I would be best friends with whoever is in this image.
Get a 360 slim, you can still find used ones in good condition for cheap and used games are still pretty cheap too.
What is good about SeX is that it boosts performance and resolution for some games.
That's the plan. The E model is pretty much the same but I like this one better.
You can't mod the E model from what I understand. I know you can do RGH with the slim which I plan to do at some point since microisraelite plans on taking down the 360 store later this year.
You can mod some of the E-models. Only the very latest motherboard revision can't be modded IIRC. Of course, that's the one I have. I bought it new because it seemed like the model that finally had decent cooling.

all kino, wtf happened to xbox????
-"what's an eks boks?"
- sony is cheaper. because they sold it losing money for years.
- where are the japanese games?
>where are the japanese games?
There were actually quite a few. I have every good exclusive to the system, and Sega dumped a lot of great stuff onto Xbox.
those niggys wont just makes some damn games
if I were in charge I would have my AA studios firing on all cylinders and sharing assets.
frick all that buying AAA studio nonsense. those homosexuals only pump out one game every 6 years, it makes no business sense.
It's insane looking at the amout exculsive og xbox games produced in short spam of 2002-2004 and Xbox 360 games produced in 2005-2009. They didn't need spend billions to get games out in the market for their system to be desirable. Phil Spencer had ten years and he couldn't even get a single xbox one/series console exclusive game to match quality and soul of an og xbox/360 game and even just release a decent game without nuking projects and burning bridges developers. Perhaps that 18/6 work culture is so unsustainable in producing quality games.
He really needs to get fired asap. He is obsessed with the idea of no exclusives and all games being fortnite, genshin and roblox level which surpasses platform
dude, I really fricking hate women and israelites in the game industry
sudeki was pure SOUL
it takes so minimum effort to make people forget all the woke bs sony has been into.
people make me sick.
People haven't forgotten. They're just giving praise to what they want more of.
It's almost like the "culture war" is stupid kek
both of these accounts are the same dude pretending to be different people. You make money off engagement on twitter no matter what it is.
they had a bunch of Dreamcast games they picked up+shorter dev cycle of the earlier gens+willing to pump money into small promising AA studios
The OG Xbox was a shockingly ragtag small team operation despite waving the Microsoft banner and the crew couldn't continue existing in that form, the 360 got its momentum during the peak of the brown and bloom grafics era and the Xbone was just an unmitigated disaster.
Unironically that first xbox one conference killed them. They never recovered from that little PR disaster.
xbox died the moment phil spencer used microsoft's money to buy up studios. Now microsoft has to be involved to justify the billions lost
Xbox died the moment Phil started putting exclusives on PC. And now he shit on the brand by putting exclusives on PlayStation. Please, fire him.
yes actually, phil ported quantum break to pc before going on the buyout spree. There's no justification there. I feel like PC ports was his and only his initiative originally. Well, now we are basically fricked due to existence of PC gamepass
All those games are multiplats.
Multiplats, that like the Xbox 360 were always better on Xbox. The only exception to this rule is anything made by Konami. For some reason Konami games were always far better on the PS2.
San Andreas as well
How was San Andres better on the PS2? Weren't 3 and VC better on the Xbox? They had progressive scan and just ran smoother in general. You could also put your own songs on the radio from CDs.
The controller layout was ass for the Xbox controller because of the black & white buttons
A bunch of those are better on PC (Morrowind, Max Payne, etc) and on Xbox Series through backwards compat (Fable, Blinx, Sands of Time, Psychonauts, etc)
SOULLESS, dunno why you homosexuals say that unless you're all suited up on some 4090 Nvidia and want to feel good about it. Xbox used to be supreme, their games were GOATED. All you can say is "muh i can play on da pc"
Anon, Morrowind runs like absolute shit on Xbox. Five minutes loading screens after the savegame gets bloated enough and similar bullshit. Not to mention the lack of mods. And Max Payne plays like shit with a controller. It was made for mouse aiming.
Also, Fable on Series X runs at like 4k 60fps instead of 480i/720i of the OG Xbox.
The OG Xbox is for games not supported by backwards compat on Xbone/XSX.
Nah, after an area loads it stays loaded
>Max Payne plays like shit with a controller.
get the frick outta here
Morrowind on Xbox straight up bricks your save once it gets too big.
Never happens honestly
I played Xbox Morrowind for a mentally ill amount of time and never had a problem with my saves. I owned the original release, so maybe it was only the GOTY edition with the two expansions that had this issue. Or maybe it's all a big myth to shit on the Xbox.
>A bunch of those are better on PC
You mean all would be because of the option of a controller or mouse and keyboard?
There's easier ways to admit you're a homosexual
Why post multiplat games?
Why not?
Because it's not a selling point when you can get them anywhere else. Some Xbox multiplats have exclusive content, or are still the best versions, but those are the exceptions. It's moronic to tell someone to get an OG Xbox for Morrowind, even though that's how I played it in 2002.
That's moronic, nobody thinks like that. It's just a game you can play on it that's good.
>nobody thinks like that.
Sure, that's why everyone is buying the current Xbox that has no exclusives. Oh wait...
You're a fricking moron.
Xbox consoles are selling significantly more since Insignia went up, just so they could play Halo 2 which someone like you would think is superior on PC or Xbone2. The "multiplats don't count!" argument is incredibly stupid and based on entirely false premises by people who don't even play games.
>Xbox consoles are selling significantly more since Insignia went up, just so they could play Halo 2
Nostalgia chasers buying old xbox consoles has no relevancy to this discussion, moron. At best it reinforces my position because it's an exclusive to the console.
>which someone like you would think is superior on PC or Xbone2
Wrong. You don't know me. I keep an OG Xbox plugged into a crt all the time specifically for playing old Halo on the Duke controller just how I always liked.
Multiplats don't count.
>Insignia went up
First time hearing about it. Sounds neat. A lot of games with server functionality already. 99% are going to be fricking dead but the possibility of playing games like conker and halo on og hardware is great.
People are always eager to arrange matches even in obscure games like midtown madness 3.
I love this game, but I've afraid to play it on my poor controllers.
As long as it doesn't pop off enough to drive prices crazy, it's a cool feature to have online completely functional.
A couple exclusives is all I need to buy one. They're already cheap system and the games are cheap. And it's the best system from that gen for multiplats.
>A couple exclusives is all I need to buy one.
And there aren't any, which is my point. Is everyone here too brown or underage to understand what I'm saying?
Game in the webm? I thought I played every jetski game out there, but apparently not.

4/10 list
the og xbox was basically a better dreamcast.
Better Dreamcast and gamecube
I agree with these. Especially in the case of the Dreamcast.
You can emulate most of its good games, no point.
there's no point in owning anything. but where's the fun?
>spending money on shit that you can emulate for free is fun!
no thanks, rabbi
>but where's the fun?
Emulate and spend the money elsewhere. You'd only be paying resellers and scalpers now anyway.
Most of the games don't emulate that good but when they do it's pretty good. I still prefer playing on the actual console with unleashx. It just makes the console better and I replaced my hdd with a frickhuge one.
Yes. Easily the best console ever made.
absolutely not. I still own one but I don't use it, later Xboxes have backwards compatibility. the original console has a constantly clacking disc drive that you MUST use (unless you pirate-rig the whole thing) and loud fans and games are low res obviously. plus no matter what, the controller fricking sucks compared to the 360 or even the Xbone (best controller I've used).
with backwards compat on even just a 360 you get the same games with better graphics and a better controller.
Most old xbox games that are worthwhile are backwards compatible aren’t they? That’s why there’s no huge retro market for Xbox
Not even Halo 1 is backwards compatible on the latest Xbox, anon. The BC library is complete and utter dogshit.
not really. the 360 compatibility is not that good. the new ones on series X are just ports. if you have the DVD on the console they just happen to be able launch after download.
the games that are still missing is because the could not get all the right for everything. like music as always.
most wanted for example. is not compatible on 360. you need the 360 version and so on.
I might be wrong but didn't the 360 hombrew software expand the compatibility list outside of the official dvd bc?

Some of these games, like BG:DA, Phantom Dust, Oddworld Stranger's Wrath, have been ported or remastered for modern systems. Best Fight Night game is on 360. Good point on SSX Tricky. I actually liked the 360 game but a lot of people didn't and as such the best games are on that generation.
>Phantom Dust
That one is at least free now, you can just play it. I like that sort of thing. It was never meant to be huge, sadly. I think it would make a good card game.
Yes.
I went from playing Morrowind to Blinx2 and then finally ended that night with Steel Battalion.

soul
yup, pure soulkino. I bet if i had it back in the 00s i wouldve thought it was the coolest shit ever. now its comfy nostalgia
Short list of good original Xbox games that don't play on Xbox Series, no BC or PC or newer ports:
Burnout 3
Def Jam Fight for NY
Jet Set Radio Future
NFL 2K5
MechAssault
Midnight Club 2/3
Outrun 2
Rallisport Challenge 2
The Warriors
Some great games in there but some of them are EXPENSIVE (like Def Jam and Outrun). Of course Xbox is easy to mod but I also think emulation has gotten a lot better. I don't see the point. Plus the controllers have not aged well.
You can play some of them on 360. I have burnout 3 digitally on 360 and it's quite nice. Looks good and scales well
Get a 2 tb modded one with all the games on it plus emulators for psx n64 snes. Unmodded ones are for sois to 'jak over and put on shelf in their closet
I don't think I've ever experienced anything quite like this, outside of my rampant 14,000 hour addiction to the Armored Core series.
How much does that cost now?
don't worry you can't pay for it.
My personal set was effectively factory new from Buyee. Damn thing still had the factory baggies. I paid about 200€ for the item, 180€ for the shipping (would've been 130€ but I wanted protective packaging) and another 100€ for customs. Overall, don't expect to cough up less than 250€-300€.
If you want a tip: Surugu-ya has free shipping on weekends almost fricking constantly. Controllers can be usually cheap enough over there. There's also an entire community on dicksword dedicated to this game, and they'll help you find cheap prices.
The original Xbox wasn't worth buying in 2004.
Why does no one like this one compared to the Dreamcast games?
most people don't even know the sequels exist.
I don't like the Las Vegas map and it seems that Sega didn't either because it disappeared. The PSP version had the SF/NYC maps only.
nobody talk about crazy taxi 2 too
The map is terrible. They made weird changes to the existing maps. It lost soul somehow, I wonder if it was the original team even working on it, or maybe they were phoning it in.
The dreamcast game feels the best to play. Everyone loved this game and they straight up just play it on a real dreamcast. Even chicks play this game
it's the only one that works technically
The earliest memories of Xbox were me playing Pac Man world and Jet Set Radio at my cousin's house. Shit was so fun.
did you had gay sex too?
now xbox struggles to even make one functioning game
Xbox was great because in the bigging it was so diverse, it wasn't a shooter console yet and you could find JRPGs, platformers, CRPGs, collectathons and so on. They were usually all finished too and and dlc was cheap as 2 dollars
Poor man's PC. The PS2 is the better system.
>captcha: PSXA
All games played worse on PS2. All the multiplats I got on Xbox by default. I would have gotten Metal Gear and Ace Combat on Xbox too if given the chance.
you have mgs2. which was a lame but ok port because they couldn't replicate a game tailored to the ps2. happens with every game that's made as an exclusive first.
still better hardware than the ps2. the real issue here as always is just the lack of games.
I honestly don't remember it being that much visually better than the ps. I think a lot of that hardware's capability was wasted dealing with the playstaion and pc port overhead tax.
Makes me wonder what that old p3 could have pulled off if devs went pedal to the metal because my PC was roughly the same in specs but with a few more mhz and ram... and everything ran like ass.
>I honestly don't remember
nostalgia is usually a bad metric. even visually. it was just worse hardware. the problem on things being weird lies on devs and projects seen as multi platform from the start.
you can't even make good comparisons when most people only talk about exclusives or games made late in the life of a ps2 when most things were sorted out. there's no way to compare xbox performance outside some titles.
if you want tomething to look at. look at texture quality, resolution, pixeld shaders, and yes bloom. even 3d audio. to be fair the CRT screen is the best ally the ps2 has. the ps2 is the N64 tier console regarding textures.
Xbox sucks ass after this big assignment block of shit
I'm so glad consoles stopped using disc trays. Xbox was the worst one. Clam openings have always been the best design for consoles and I don't know why it has disappeared.
Your average consumer really likes complicated internals and the clam design is really simple and looks like a cheap old CD player you could get at Walmart in the mid 2000s.
>Clam openings have always been the best design for consoles and I don't know why it has disappeared.
You know why.
well at least they had the ingenuity to make a small hole for a clip
Literally just use a pair of tweezers to take out the rubber band in the tray, clean it with rubbing alcohol or something, and put it back in. Worked for me.
It's still dogshit console design. At least ps2 slim and gamecube had top loaders.
>Clam openings have always been the best design for consoles and I don't know why it has disappeared.
Because there are people that put stuff on top of the console
they're stupid. you're not supposed to do that.
I did it for the longest time because I had limited space and I lived with my parents who put the cable box and shit on top of it
>xbox got no shmups and they're all on the 360
it's ogre
>melting capacitors
>shitty disc trays
Buying an original xbox sounds like such a pain in the ass. I'd rather take the risk of red ring and buy one of the later 360 models.
let's talk about the ps2 fat glorious laser quality.
Replaceable, outright ignored with FreeMcBoot and OPL. If a capacitor blows on the xbox and fricks the board, it's toast.
Replaceable, outright ignored with softmod. If a psu fails or fan on the ps2 fails the console goes with it.
people tend to forget how awful PS fat models are.
>people tend to forget how awful PS fat models are
nta but i never did
frick the PS3's launch, holy shit, 599 for a fricking brick
god I fricking how hate 2 of my ps2 died. I then said frick it and gave all my games to a friend, and the moment we inserted those games into his ps2 his one died too
Why didn't you change the disc drive? I bet it would've been cheaper than buying a whole new console. I swapped my FAT b***h's twice in the last 2 decades.
we were too young to understand the concept of repairing consoles. Not like anyone offered the services like that openly
would you guys recommend getting a series s?
No, the series s is gay
only if you install a dev mode and use emulators, there are some cool BC games too but the list is actually not that big
Yes, still best console of all time.
I unscrewed my xbox to put in a 2tb hdd and now the lid won't go back on all the way 🙁
you probably need to fold the IDE cable better
you can't just replace the drive of an xbox. they are tied to the console. you need to disable or fake the validation codes.
I used chimp
yeah, it's probably giving it some lift
The problem is you have to seat both the disc drive and the HDD tray in a VERY specific way, keep shifting the trays until they move deeper into the case.
Getting the trays aligned isn't too bad, just make sure they're both clearing it. Little wigglin'. they drop into place and you can tell they clear the top half.
It has some odd notching. I assume you've followed the guides on how to actually swap the HDD out. Could just be that your IDE cable isn't folded right.
actually he should even replace the ide cable. the one in the xbox is 40wires and faster ones are 80.
fair point, this
replace IDE cable and put sata drive with adapter. console is magically loading a lot faster. put SSD now is more silent. no much speed improvement.
better ports quality wise. but actually now. back in the they many of those ports were awful. even today halflife 2 has better audio on the Xbox.
>no much speed improvement
that's because you're limited in terms of IDE speeds
you only have those same HDD speeds more consistently, that's about it, same shit on PS3
you're really meant to bend the IDE cable in some odd ways, and the way the lid goes back onto it isn't exactly straightforward due to the notching. you need to be dead on. screws also make it go down the rest of that fifth of an inch
is not like the xonsole bus is much faster either. SSD is just more reliable nowdays. but 2tb is just a waste of money on something that would not use it.
If you extract every game using extract-xiso I am 100% certain it would fit on those 2TB.
but why an ssd instead of sata?
Xbox doesn't even support SATA.
then I wonder where people can find 2tb ATA drives?
are you moronic? the ide drives themselves are slow as frick. no matter if is with adaptors new ones are just faster and use the whole xbox bus.
I'm pretty sure I've seen xbox modded with modern style HDDs.
How in the FRICK is Jet Set Radio Future still trapped on this thing?
nobody cares to look into emulation for it and sega hates its old franchises.
Phil would rather blow billions on studios to not make games.
I bought mine in 2018 for like 50€ to play Jet Set Radio Future, for me that alone was worth it. I heard the console itself is much for expensive now, but the games are still dirt cheap. Whenever I feel like trying a game from that area I usally go for the Xbox version, it's the the most poweful console of the time, the Xbox version is usally the cheapest and I don't have to deal with memory cards
Eh?
There are like, 3 games stuck on the console not ported over.
On the flip side xbox emulation is still dogshit, I tried playing panzer dragoon orta the other day and it stills lags like a mother fricker.
>college dorms
>Roommate is out
>doa extreme beach volleyball
>playing poker with the girls
I wana go back
I was a child during the OG Xbox's run, but owning one now and playing the games, it feels like the kind of system I would've loved in my college years.
6th gen in general seems like a great era to be a early 20 something with just enough money to spend on a few games every now and then. So many great games, so much wacky shit. I kind of envy you 40yo Anon, you witnessed a great thing when you were able to appreciate it the most. I hope you can still appreciate that now
>I hope you can still appreciate that now
why do you think everyone here is mad at the latest AAA slop? I remember a time when boundaries were pushed, a ton of games came out, exclusives actually were a thing, you both had flagship titles and a ton of interesting niche games, you have PC exclusives (no shitty consolization of controls) and games released at a decent pace.
Now you get a game that took 8 years to develop, is extremely generic to make sure the biggest possible audience can enjoy it (how else are you going to make back 500 employees x 8 years of salaries back), and doesnt try to do anything new. Just look at GTA. gen 6 you had 3 games, GTA 3 broke new ground in 3d open world games, vice city was a cool miami vice version, and san andreas had a cool west coast hiphop culture flavor. One gen later and you get GTA5, which is just a very standard GTA. And that is releasedd for 3 gens
ps3 and xbox360 was the last good gen. not because of the consoles themselves but the games.
at that time games still had to have functional physical releases that didn't need to depend on constant internet functionality or patches.nor tons of GB of day 1 patch.
a non functional game was still a reason to bankrupt a company. the logistics to solve the problem were expensive as frick.
DLCs included in the fricking disk were a reason people complained too.
only if we pretend Oblivion wasn't a launch title and needed months of patches to become somewhat playable. of if we pretend that Oblivion bankrupted Bethesda.
It wasn't a launch title? Were you born in 2005?
fable is a pretty cool game
hopefully they fix the new one
What console from the 2000's would this boy have?
>he hates nintendo
>he hates pokemon
>He hates Game Boy And Hates DS
>he hates the Wii and the gamecube
>he hates zelda
>He has the most anti-Nintendo console of all
my penis
Ngage
Reasons why the squirrel boy would have a Nokia N-gage as his console from the 2000's.
YES
>Rallisport Challenge 2
>Project Gotham Racing 2
>Outrun 2 / 2006
>Testdrive: Eve of Destruction
>Burnout 2
>Gunvalkyrie
>Panzer Dragoon Orta
>Ninja Gaiden Black
>JSRF
>Super Monkeyball Deluxe
>DoA 3
>SF3TS
It had some decent games but honestly, the biggest reason to buy it was to have a nice emulation/multimedia machine and by now that shit's old and you can have the same thing but much more powerful and accurate and smaller and all around better for around $100. I'd say the problem with the Xbox is that it was the beginning of turning consoles into overglorified gaming PCs.
>wow the second model 360 still has the same iconic shape as the original and isn't just a boring box like the E model
>touch sensor buttons
fricking why?
Is that the one with mat or shiny finish?
it's half and half like the xbone. And speaking of xbone, was that the most forgettable major console release ever? I hear more people talking about the 360 over it.
Does the sata adapter work with the original ide cable at all?
Like it doesn't even boot or is it just slow
I'm talking about the startech adapter
the problem is not the cable is the adapters. you need to find one that accept a function that locks and unlock the drive every time the the system uses it. basically trial and error. if the adapters is actually good i should have that function supported.
xbox used that function to prevent people from taking out the drive when the console was turned off.. so of course the first hard drive replacement method has to be done with the console running.
StarTech SATA-to-IDE is the best one.
Get a long 80-pin IDE cable, too.
>see this thread
>"haha, guess I'll check local ads just to see how my market is."
>1 OG Xbox, no cables, 15€
>the rest of the population of bomalia trying to sell off the Series Ss they stole on the way here for half price
>I already have a series S.
You forgot
>system board dead from capacitor leakage
I didn't forget.
do you like the series s?
Yeah, I do.
I bought it at a time when I wanted to do a thing that required a high end PC but couldn't afford it because of the GPU madness.
It's a nice console to have around but if I had to tell you to get an X or S, get an X.
You can find a LOT of cheapo second hand discs on stores like CEX and stuff if you want variety. I really only want mine to play the newer games that will come out, namely Metal Gear Delta and GTA 6, out of respect for the franchises. Little else interests me anymore, all I really play nowadays is Gran Turismo 1-6
i do sometimes wish i had mine to play halo 2 on insignia with the other boomers
please recommend me a fun game that's readily available for cheap
here's my collection now

isn't Fight for NY like a $300 game
Apparently so. Like $70-100 if you're lucky and can snag a CiB, and more expensive for good condition copies. Can lump that with
>and some others
VENGAAAAAAR
Interestingly some older versions also run certain games better so if something runs like shit, go back a few versions and turn off multithreaded optimization on nvidia gpus.
AND HERE'S WHY YOU NEED TO BUY [OLD CONSOLE] IN ]CURRENT YEAR]!
We need more scaricity so my collection goes up in value guys. Please be sure to visit today's sponsor, like and subscribe and click the little bell icon to get notified of more of my sponsored videos!
HIDDEN GEMS
I don't like MetalJesus at all, and I am convinced he doesn't play 99% of his library but he isn't the worst of it. Has he ever aggressively pushed a sponsor in your face like these other guys?
One day this guy is going to come out as a troony
Hidden gems, heres a load of cheapo multiplat titles which were 6/10 on release. Enjoy footage of someone else playing them while I read this script and try to sound interested now and then.
Remember when he started some fund begging shit and then took all his horrendous friends on holiday with the money? Amazing oblivious room iq shit lol
Just get the SeX OP. It got backwards compatibility. Most games worth playing on it can be played on SeX. Unless you are just dying to play shit like Sudeki and Azurik.
I recently looked into Xbox backwards compatibility stuff and I was very impressed. On ps5 I can only stream ps3 games and generations below
I'd need to see an entire list of non compatible games before making that decision. And they can probably cut off playability of random games any time they wanted too.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_backward-compatible_games_for_Xbox_One_and_Series_X/S
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_backward-compatible_games_for_Xbox_One_and_Series_X/S#List_of_compatible_titles_from_Xbox
As I said I am not sure what you would want to really play outside of those games. I am sure you would be missing out on some good Xbox OG games but they really did get the cream of the crop for the most part. Plus you have a ton more for 360 you can play.
It looks like a lot of 360 shmups aren't playable and I'd still need an OG box for some games I want
I think at least half the 360 stgs are either ported to windows or working well on xenia these days. There are still some exclusives though.
Curious to know what Xbox Original games do you want that you can't play on SeX? Also yeah shmups are a niche genre so I suppose I am not surprised they would be left off. Although you can always emulate shmups fairly easy I assume.
>Curious to know what Xbox Original games do you want that you can't play on SeX
Blinx 2, Sonic Riders, Bloody Roar, Capcom Vs Snk, Spyro: A Hero's Tail, Castlevania: Curse of Darkness, etc.
Couldn't you play some of those on a PS2 or an emulator? Or do you just want to collect some old favorites from your childhood?
For me it was. There were a lot of exclusive gmes I enjoyed on it. I put the hundreds of hours into Rallisport 2. The first game is on PC but it's nowhere near as good as the second. Apparently 2 doesn't work well on xemu either. I've moved on to Dirt/WRC on PC now but I'll try it again sometime. It was a great time for racing games.
Also liked Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive back then.
The Xbox is a gold mine of Stealth, Racing and Mecha games, and a bunch of 3D platformers too.
tbf nothing works well on xemu. its 2 decades behind the rest of 6th gen emulation.
I've played a few games on it. Phantom Crash, Panzer Dragoon, and Ninja Gaiden Black all work quite well.
Good luck finding one that works
if you have the space to fit it
i love when idiots create memes they don't even understand
the controller is not even the duke
Xbox had a lot of damn good games. Ignore people who say it had multiplats, the games were always better on the Xbox. I plan to buy one so I can build the library again since the emulators still suck. I'll need to also get a crt because you do not want to play the game with crisp graphics. You'll see all the imperfections.
I got these last year with an og xbox for like 50 usd, never had any xbox console before
you're in for a good time
Some of those are the best games on the system and you did an amazing deal, Anon. Even the fricking Sega GT/JSRF bundle is in there.
wtf why isnt sudeki backwards compatible?? some great games are stuck on xbox
we have to start massive spam campaign for phil spencer and sarah bond to take notice. It's so tiresome
abso-fricking-lutely.
I use mine all the time, I put an SSD harddrive, and you can ftp games to your xbox via network. It's great.
I have a modchipped xbox with an ssd and a bad disc drive. what is the easiest way to put xbox games onto it? should I take the ssd out and put them all on with my pc? what format do they need to be in?
ftp.
ftp them over, unfortunately redumps sets are direct rips so you'll need to extract them which can be tedious, but most HDD ready sets out there are missing some files to save space which causes issues for Insignia now which you really want to address because Insignia rules.
>2024
>Not being on Insignia every night in Halo 2
I wanted to buy this game but then saw his run speed. This shit looks way too slow
It's fun, really more of a puzzle platformer and starts to reveal itself as such in just a few stages.
Even if I didn't know I'd immediately know this was an OG Xbox game. They all have this distinctive look that is pure early 2000 soul and yet it's entirely different from how PS2 games look like.
If you like this, I recommend also playing Maken X on Dreamcast
Breakdown was so fricking cool. Story is still great.
Frick yes
As are most consoles pre 7th gen that can easily be modded to play all games
Recently played though both Halos as I had only played the MCC before
A CRT is also preferable unless you have a scaler
It wasn't even worth buying in 2001
doa on xbox is what I expected fighting games to become. instead we went right back to the generic "arenas" and 2D sidescrolling
looks cool & pretty good for a 2004 game
I miss good racing games
God I wish I had this game but it's too damn expensive. Like Daytona USA are there any other racers like it
that's funny. I have a copy and I don't remember it being that much.
How good is og Xbox emulation these days anyway
https://xemu.app/#compatibility
Its fine i guess.
its getting there but currently it requires an rpcs3 level computer.
anyone here play midnight club 3? do you like it do you hate it?
I can sell you my Steel Battalion controller setup then definitely. The game is jank but the novelty is a lot of fun, you’ll have the find the game though, I lot it a long time ago
Lost*
I really fricking need to play Riddick
Speaking of Riddick, should I play the original or the remake?
original. it's a classic for a reason
Original, remake is jank but the original PC port is also jank because "40 years of backwards compatibility" means everything is broken on PC if it's slightly out of date lol. Genuinely the headache free way to play is on an original Xbox which is the original version predating PC by a few months.
It sucks, since the PC director's cut version added dev commentary for a second playthrough, and seamlessly added in a couple new areas.
m8 it wasn't worth buying in 2001
Yes. buy it for cheap, see if your revision needs time cap removed, check other caps for corrosion. repaste the cpu/gpu while you're at it and then softmod it. Make sure you back up the original hard drives contents and replace it with a bigger drive. There's still missing content out there that hasn't been backed up that might be on your Xbox. After that register for insignia and get on Halo 2 online.

https://www.xbox-scene.info/articles/xcat-released/
Someone recently onlined the original xbox skins site so you can grab new ones right off the Xbox. Also run nkpatcher and force all Xbox games to run in progressive mode. You can run a few emulators too but they're not perfect. Other than that it's my favorite box still use it to this day with my psp and wii
>Check some 360 games.
>Some go for retail price.
>then stuff like most wanted go for like 120 bux.
What the frick.
360s marketplace is being smoked soon thats why prices of 360 games are going up. If you want to get some 360 games then better do it now because it definetly wont get better.
Is it me or have they already been taking shit down from the marketplace? I can't find certain dlcs on there anymore and I could've sworn there was more games on demand.
It has a lot of weird games that never get talked about, a lot of which are pretty trash. But you'll find something you like if you start trawling through them and its pretty easy to pick the games up in bulk.
It is because MS's wildly overrated BC is missing so many of its games
please buy one and go on halo 2 on insignia, we need more players
It's not too bad :^)
hey I just saw those guys on the halo classic hub discord vc, I thought they were lying about queuing up, took me an hour and a half of 2v2s and 3v3s to get a 4v4
Sometimes the insignia matchmaking can get junked up, leaving matchmaking, queueing up for a quickmatch can often get you "into" games more reliably. If the player numbers reported on the site aren't lining up with what kind of matches you're getting in-game try that.
proof
I've just been queueing up on team slayer because of the event on halo classic hub, it probably puts those guys against each other and I'm only rank 5
wait they added games worth playing to insignia? fricking finally
https://insignia.live/ There's been good stuff since day 1 of public but the big guns are coming out now (bit by bit)
maybe to you but for the longest time the only game people would play is project gotham racing 2 and i don't really care for racing games
arrange matches, conker is easy to get going, midtown madness 3, counter-strike, you name it.
>counter strike
>halo 2
>return to castle wolfenstein
That's sick as shit
>46 players in halo 2
ehhhh it's so dead
not for me
That's a lot for such an old multiplayer game, especially on a Tuesday night.
this is going to sound stupid but you only need enough players to fill the lobby for it to be fun. I used to frequent the same tf2 server for a year back when it was new and I had alot of fun despite only ever playing with the same 20 people. Being young and new to everything probably helped alot but I still believe in it.
>enough to fill nearly 3 BTB lobbies
Sounds good to me.
you wish
are you playing 2v2 lol?
>2 friend markers on screen
>one more on the radar
It's clearly 4v4.
Unless you want an old emulation box, probably not.
we've already been over this, it had an amazing library. better than a lot of modern shit being released.
It sure is buddy
>have modded OG Xbox that I FTP files to so I can play any game also did the same to my RGH Trinity 360
>stuffed with all arcade games and emulators I can muster
>was able to buy Chimera HDMI but decided to keep playing on my CRT
>Project Insignia is bringing back online play
If you don't think any of that is worth it your loss buddy.
Is there a list of games you can play online via xbox insignia?
yes check insignia dot live
Most early models have crippling hardware failures because of liquid leaks.
It's not really worth it, imo.
it's worth it because multiplatform games in that generation tend to run best on the xbox
it didnt have many worthwhile exclusives though
the annoying thing about insignia is having to hunt down all of the dlc to be able to play online
That depends entirely on if you have irl friends to play it with, xbox was kino couch coop
Aren't 360 servers still being supported by publishers? Why not play there instead?
Most aren't and they're going down soon and it's not original xbox games.
xboxlover420 here,
kinda but prob just get a 360 unless there's a niche game not compat with the 360. But from what I know pretty much every og game works bc.
