>I like the story but I feel like I have to force myself through the gameplay.
That was my issue. Its an ok action game at it's core but it never opens up. mechnically it feels like the game is stuck in other games early game for perpetuity, and the story starts off strong but by the end the old JRPG curse of losing the fricking plot happens after the Bahamut fight.
Game's too long. They still have it in their head if it isn't at least 40 hours, people will be mad.
FF4 was around 20 hours to beat. I think people would be okay with a shorter game if it meant less filler and tighter pacing, outside a few shitposts on Ganker nobody outside will actually care about.
VII is if you take your time to explore and do side content. VIII and IX have time sink minigames that will bring your save file up to 60 hours easily. X has blitzball and gridmaxing.
This moron is the personification of the modern psued hack who thinks himself a writer and has made cynicism his personality. He's not the only one I see it a lot, modern cynicisms as a replacement for a personality.
i didn't like xvi that much but this guy is an imbecile and the town made him stupid
I watched some of this guy play the game and he was drunk and barely legible for most of his playthrough, that on top of pausing after every single line and still managing to misunderstand basic concepts in writing, as in not taking some lines as their literal meaning but their abstract contextual meaning. I say this because he calls himself a writer but misses such basic fricking concepts it hurts, to think these homosexuals have an audience. Jesus fricking christ.

This, I haven't seen any him even on youtube because just from the titles I know he is moronic but like, the story for a game, and it being a 25-30h standalone one on top of that with some filler is pretty okay.
I mean, it does have a few contrivances here and there and things that could have been better explained which is a shame.
It could have had more technical depth too but that would have made it longer and probably Covid frick them over. The characters could have had more screen time and involvement but at the end it's Clive's story and it would be pretty tricky and cinematic heavy considering how many of them there are and how most of them are not even with you, and Ultima could have had more personality to him instead of being just a walking theme to fight against.
But besides that it's pretty efficient and decent for a game and has the ideas very clear from the beginning to end of what it wants to be about and tell, which is almost rare nowadays.
Well, at least XVI is making millions right now while XV put the brand on a shitty spot for 7 years, got Tabata fired, Luminous Studio closed and Square almost in bankruptcy after burning hundreds of millions in marketing and side content like a cgi movie and an anime that no one watched.
FFXV will always be Square Enix's dark history.
FF15 was mishandled but it still ultimately made its money back and was looked at as an experiment they weren't willing to try again. It's not what actually put them in the shitter though and most reasonable people still at least liked it even if they didn't love it because they were still capable of seeing what it did right over focusing entirely on what it did wrong. You can still like something even if it disappointed you.
It was Forspoken that actually fricked them with his much they pumped into marketing, got Tabata fired, and got his studio shut down.
I genuinely do not see how the story is any worse than that of the Witcher games, which he endlessly sucks off in 5 hour videos. were Matsuno's games better? yes, obviously. but XVI has by far the most intelligent writing Final Fantasy has had since like, VII.
nothing, really. I just get upset that a lot of content creators are just tools that talk at their audience instead of engaging with it. I'd love to have a conversation about the story with him (I even have my own gripes with it) but as is he's just some dude losing his mind on stream about a story he seems to have not understood.
Its all about building that friendship simulation and creating a cult that repeat what you say and spread it. The clout economy. The more narcissistic/conceited you are the more successful you will be in that ‘industry’.
This is why i honestly think streaming does more harm than good to storybased games. Its baffling how many ppl nowadays say they watched a streamer play smth and therefore they consumed the game and have the right to talk about it as if they played it. Letting streamers play a story driven game is basically an anti advertisement and its leading to the death of the art form because stories and games in general will now start to cater to ‘streamers’ and audience participation/reaction. No more serious moments in games or downtime cuz streamers might ‘cringe’ at it or yawn at it, etc. Just like games being streamed on the cloud and subscription models, its where creativity and genuine art goes to die
Looking at his chat react to him sperging out about the story makes me sick. A bunch of yes men and zero discussion. Just an echo chamber.

He is just a nerd writing bad amateuristic scifi novels fashioning himself a writer. He has built up an audience of around 1k dicksucks which i guess makes him a small to mediumsized streamer. He has no personality or humor so instead he uses modern cynicism as a substitute for personality. The draw for his audience is that by listening to him they can all share in the bashing of a games storyline and say how bad it is and how only true scotsmen like themselves have an appreciation for good writing and how this isnt it. Its pseudo intellectual cynical masturbation for ppl with a lack of direction and purpose in their life
I know a streamer who I seriously think is a big detriment to FFXIV because he non stops complain about almost EVERYTHING. Seriously loves XVI. It was pretty funny seeing how invested he was.
Except that's false because Joseph hates the story in Western games as well, like in Ragnarok and Life is Strange. He liked 13 sentinels and Ace Attorneys' story more than most western games he's played.
I said this before but I think his issue is that a lot of the characters are emotionally intelligent. Notice that there is little drama between the characters? Not between enemies okay. Between comrades.
It's like everyone knows their duty, and just nudges people in a positive direction when they feel down and peps them up when needed. I think that's the reason he said that the characters are just puppets. I disagree but others do see it that way.
God forbid they dont all act like petulant teenagers and throw a tantrum.
But anyway that kind of working towards a common goal and unity is kinda very japanese. Theres still plenty of things in this game that remind you of a typical jrpg, which is good to fans but for this new audience they wanted to lure with the game of thrones window dressing, i guess it didnt go far enough or they were expecting even more.
But i honestly think for these kind of jingoistic gamers the moment they hear its a japanese game with an attempt at storytelling they just try to nitpick at everything to shit on it. Im not saying this story is amazing or whatever but ive seen far worse in many western games and none of that gets the same kindof vitriolic response. Its just racism, its a mentality of ‘oh these japanese cant do stories as good as us westerners’. Never mind all the embarrassing marvel quips and terrible attempts at dialogue in their western games
>God forbid they dont all act like petulant teenagers and throw a tantrum.
What I do understand from the complaints is lack of banter. That I get.
That said I think people expected characters that had very flamboyant eccentricities. You know, the typical overexaggerated emotions that are typical in JP media. When they didn't get that, they suddenly had issues.
I kinda lost him on criticism when he started bringing up how Clive finding Jill and then Cid was too "coincidental". For the whole Cid scene about being the hammer to beat people into shape and the whole idea of him needing several Dominants to take down a mothercrystal when it's one of the MOST telegraphed internal motivations out of the 2000 that are in the game is just, it's really just pathetic, honestly. Cid basically outright admits at one point he planned on using Jill for his plans, he basically outright admits he went to the Caer with the intention of capturing Jill or the Dominant of Fire, and that all of that shit about the Bearers was secondary to unimportant. Cid was in the Defile with the intention of picking up Jill when the Ironblood were on retreat, same as the imperial assassins. I can concede on the dog but that's so inconsequential to the entire plot it's insanity to claim that the game is just full of coincidences when it really isn't.
Why does Joshua not talk to Clive? Maybe it's because Clive is inherently linked to the ayylmao he's hunting? Maybe it's because the last time they spoke, Clive punched a hole in his chest? Maybe it's because they are walking two different paths, and Joshua still holds much of his same duty-bound mindset from the past, where he feels the need to protect both the duchy and the people who follow him?
He claims it's "10 year old writing" but considering he can't even grasp the slightest gap in a story where they don't slap you in the face with all of the answers it's just hilarious.
And, like I said before, I've got issues with the story. I've got issues with Jill, I've got issues with omae wa Hugo, I've got issues with Barnabas. But is the story dogshit? Absolutely not. It's better than both Witcher 3 and Witcher 1 VERY easily, maybe even 2 unless you are affording it respect for it's multiple pathways schtick that was likely very hard to pull off.
>It's better than both Witcher 3 and Witcher 1 VERY easily
Let’s not get too crazy, Witcher 3’s script only starts getting dumb in the last act after Kaer Morhen. Most of 3(and especially Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine) is much better written than this.
Just compare how these games handle their supporting casts, even random filler characters like Eskel and Lambert are more interesting and likable than Jill (despite having a fraction of her screentime).
I agree that the DLCs for the game are better written, even if I didn't like Blood and Wine as much as everyone else seemed to. Hearts of Stone has two fantastic antagonists that absolutely carry the story, and most of BaW's appeal comes from the aesthetics and not necessarily the character development or plot intrigue.
That said, base Witcher 3 is fricking dogshit. Everything that happens in Novigrad, fricking dogshit. The Wild Hunt? Fricking dogshit. 75% of the game is chasing Ms. MacGuffin, and the single good scene in the game is the moment you find her, after one of the WORST quests I have ever played in a video game. And the kicker? The scene only means anything to people who've read the books. In fact, the whole plot only means something to people who've read the books, even the Wild Hunt was something that was retroactively patched up in 2 and then shoved into 3. Eskel and Lambert are "likeable" and I'll concede on W3's sidequests being better written, but they ultimately boil down to generic tropes and then frick off from the story after Kaer Morhen because there's no longer room for them in the script. The final act is also godawful, because all of these bad aspects come together in one of the most underwhelming bosses and endings I have ever seen. I will say, Eredin's lines on the ship are hard as frick though, props to the actor because he really carried the non-character Eredin was.
Things that people will criticize XVI for will never enter the conversation for W3 for one reason or another, and that's okay. The open world and fantastic sidequests makes it easy to ignore how underwhelming the resolution to the north/south politics, the assassination of Radovid, the Nilfgaard invasion, etc etc is at the end of the game. There's something to be said when the "bad ending" of the game is by far the most interesting because it, at the very least, attempts to move the needle.
I say all of this and I still absolutely love the game, see pic related.

Witcher 3 is not only awful but it's gay propaganda. The opening focused on geralts ass soured me on it quick, the terrible quests and combat put me out of it entirely after about 5 hours of play, 5 terribly unfun hours. Gays are the fricking worst and ruin everything

>Everything that happens in Novigrad, fricking dogshit.
I thought that arc was fine besides all the time spent running back and forth in the city. It introduces a lot of fun characters. >The Wild Hunt? Fricking dogshit.
They were okay as a mysterious threat before they got over explained and jobbed in last act. >one of the WORST quests I have ever played in a video game
kek that dwarf escort mission felt like the devs intentionally fricking with players. Awful. >The scene only means anything to people who've read the books. In fact, the whole plot only means something to people who've read the books
I’ve never read a single book and it worked fine for me. >but they ultimately boil down to generic tropes and then frick off
I’ll take entertaining tropes over characters with the personality of cardboard.

>I thought that arc was fine besides all the time spent running back and forth in the city. It introduces a lot of fun characters.
It was fine but it is wholly inconsequential, it's basically entirely filler unless you really want to stick your dick in Triss and then it actually means something. The mages/witches never come up again, the politics of Novigrad mean nothing, the pub is cool.....I guess? But again, is ultimately inconsequential, considering the Skellige plot is the only one that resolves with you finding Ciri. So you are playing Geralt fricking around for at least 5-10 hours, and then even Skellige Geralt seems wholly unconcerned for most of the runtime. Then you hit the 75% mark and then you hit Kaer Morhen and then the game becomes really dogshit, like you said. None of the characters you meet are particularly interesting, the side content is much better about this. Triss, Yen, don't have arcs, Triss at the very least has an actual character because she has the benefit of two other games. Geralt doesn't really have an arc either. Who even has an arc? Everyone is just pushing the story forward or poorly emulating their book counterpart. Fricking Dijkstra had more of an arc than the supposed main cast, even if it was resolved with tropey garbage in the Radovid quests.
The actual characters of the first two games are relegated to DLC, without an arc, or both, with the Temeria plotline and the Scoiatel plotline both being dropped in favor of a mage plotline that, like I said, has no purpose beyond sticking your dick in Triss.
The Wild Hunt shows up one (1) ONE time to raze that village and then isn't brought up again for HOURS. They are barely even a shadowy threat because they don't even cast a shadow, the game never feels like a race against time and I almost pissed my pants in the Skellige cave quest because I got to see the Wild Hunt actually DO something, even if it was a dream. And the funniest part about the cave quest? It never

-is relevant either, the grimness of Geralt's internal struggle and his powerlessness against interdimensional racist elves is never executed on and is ultimately resolved with the same "le power of le friendship! (and my two (three) side b***hes)", which is the same shit that people rake XVI for.

The 80% of TW3 is unironically filler, 3 big side quests (only the first one is good) where you are bossed around without wanting to by others to do this and that so they can tell you at the end that Ciri is another castle, that's literally most of the game.
Garbage that has no relationship to each other or the main story really. For that you have to wait until the last 20% or so and then the whole writing just tanks and you get a complete rush job where things just happen and nothing gets minimally developed.
And let's not talk about how much of a poor job does as a sequel, it's like the first 2 games barely even exist.
Easily one of the worst stories in any decently known wrpg, no wonder it had all that dev hell same as cyberpunk, I have no doubt in my mind that the original story was very different from the one we ended up getting.
How they got away with it is still a mystery to me.

I never gave a shit about Olgierd or Iris but man Gaunter O'Dimm really was one of the best villains I've ever seen in a game. Being toyed with by a god and somehow surviving but being powerless to do anything more is so much more kino than fighting and killing one which is way more common in videogames
>tw3 story bad
I see, a fellow brother with actual IQ, really tired of seeing people with the "okay the gameplay is bad but the story is amazing", like what the frick are you talking about.
Anyways, yeah, I don't know why so many people point that one out, stories are built upon coincidences, specially set ups, they are written by someone at the end of the day, the point is if the coincidence makes sense, and it does.
Clive had to assassinate Shiva for the Empire, Cid was specifically looking for Shiva to join him to destroy the mothercrystals, and Jill was Shiva which makes sense considering she is the princess (or one of them) of the fallen northern kingdom.
One could argue about how both Clive and Cid went for her on the same battle but at that point you are just reaching for the sake of it, and despite what some people say, I'm pretty sure it's pointed out at the start that the Iron Kingdom started showing up with Shiva very recently, she hasn't been sent to wars for 13 years like some argue.
And Torgal I think it was said in one of the lore entries or side quests that Cid found him when he was looking for info in Rosaria or Rosalith, I guess he was looking for what happened there or went after the rumors of the dominant of fire, which is in his interests too, and then found him around the area still waiting for his masters to return.
Clive, Jill, and Cid meeting like that is fine, but throwing in Torgal too just feels lazy and takes away a lot of emotional impact.
Would have made more sense and felt more rewarding if Clive found Torgal later when he goes back to Rosaria.

And I agree, but it's one of those things they had to slide because of the gameplay. You don't go to Phoenix Gate until like 10h in, and Rosalith (where he could have been with Wade for example) around the middle of the game.
Too late for the basic support they put there to help you with combos, heal you etc. Which doesn't really matter with how easy the game is, but I understand it's something that has to be there from the beginning.
TW stories are pretty competent and the character writing is top tier, JARPig. In XVI nothing makes sense if you look at it from the character perspectives. >Eikons are very powerful and dangerous things that can wipe out entire armies! >Oh, are those a pack of dominants? GO MY FOOTMEN, KILL THEM AND DISPOSE OF THEM
This homosexual uses vague terms like "the characters don't explore their options" like Black person what? I get it this homies job is to not leave his house, but how out of touch and hollow. Just say what you didn't enjoy about it versus this gay critique.
Also this homosexual had more views than he ever will again playing the game he trashes lma0. So mad that noone wants to watch ng+2 bloodborne for the 3000th time.
I honestly think the story is too well written for most gamers. (albeit not perfect of course) not to mention the cinematography is top notch. take the drawn out scene in the tavern where it follows the barmaid and switches to jote. the attention to detail is not found in most other games.
>too well written >cinematography is top notch stop embarrassing yourself >proceeds to try using what is an objectively poorly constructed cinematic-sequence as an argument for the game's aesthetic worth
stick to gushing mindless positivity on reddit, champ. you have zero understanding of what makes good art

He's not wrong. Between this and Skillup's review and a lot of streamers finishing the game feeling ultimately disappointed, this game is proven to be yet another mediocre disappointment and hardly any better than 13 and 15. Square is literally incapable of making a decent mainline ever again and it's disheartening.
It's better than 13 and especially 15
But it's a disappointment. All they have to do with 17 is clone 7R with a decent original story. Don't know why this seems to be rocket science
Streamers are vastly overstated and not all that important.
Also all those streamers you listed didnt even bother with TOTK. Story based fames or ROG/long big open world games are not good for their precious viewcounts. Its why Starfield will not be a good stream game either.
Streamers just want to make money and grift off their parasocial loser audience. They are even less of a game enthusiast than game journos
Id argue actually streamers are bad for games like this.
Theres so many ppl ive seen say that they just watched a streamer play through it or a youtube walkthrough instead of buying it. It is literally costing developers sales, not contributing to sales.
Atlus and nintendo understood this early on hence their heavyhanded streamer restrictions. I dont blame them. Streamers are scum of the earth
Pretty sure he himself has zero life experience and has never done anything in his life except be a nerd, play videogames and write his pulp novels. Kinda ironic for someone like that to be talking about what is 'realistic' for ppl to do.
I'm gonna be honest, I've had games I couldn't beat. I never beat Catherine or an XCOM game.
I never acted like a israelite and blamed it on the game, though.
I just accepted "frick, i'm not as smart as I think I am" and went back to ARPGs.
Then don't play it? Why do you homosexuals make posts like this and can't work out what to do if you're not enjoying a game? Go and refund it, o-oh I see you're being disingenuous and trying to start a bait thread.
It's a single player rpg with mmorpg generic assets. Map is so fricking flat. Models look generally bad. It just has such lack of detail compared to final fantasy vii remake.
it only gets worse
everyone overrated the frick out of the odin fight
the only time odin pops up is for a cinematic qte
rest of the time you're just fighting semi-primed barnabas who is piss easy to parry and dodge and people comparing him it to vergil should neck themselves
The game has flaws but overall it’s legitimately the best single player FF since XII. I strongly recommend it, especially if you like action games. If you don’t, you probably won’t enjoy the game as much. If you’re a fan of the Matsuno games or FFXIV the story will probably be enjoyable enough to stick it through to the end.
>especially if you like action games
the gameplay is moron-proof garbage, though. I like action games, and this one barely qualified as such.
also this shit was way worse than XV, and XV didn't have an ending to its story
Story and gameplay were pretty based. There are pacing and side quest structure issues, but over all the story and moment to moment gameplay were the high points.
I played it for about 15 hours and hated it
But thankfully I am friends with the manager at the local gamestop so he let me return it for a full refund
I turned around and used that money to buy a copy of bravely default for 3ds and now I'm having a great time with that so it all worked out in the end
Then you're absolutely blind. Criticize elden ring, any nintendo game, etc. That being said, you're just baiting, yourself, but even so. On this board of all places there's always a contingency of hate for every even semi popular franchise/game
I see people sperging at criticisms in those threads sure but not to the degree that every fricking negative point is attributed to one person. I swear XVI threads for the most part were Barry generals where you spent more time talking about Bazztek than the game.
Welcome summergay! Here too inform you but that is this entire website
>S-summer
Believe what you want i guess, at least its more original than screaming Barry.
The game is fun when it's lets me play it. The boss battles are "epic" and that's clearly what they were going for there, they're okay, but it's such a slog just playing FFXIV while also not. The MMO style format of accepting quests from the guy you just found from the last guy you just found is boring. Fetch quests break the flow of the game every single chapter. Besides 5 minute hunts the game is on absolute rails.
It's a decent little spectacle but it was a let down as a game.
The first segment of the game where you okay as Clive, Joshua, and then meet Cid are the best parts of the game when it comes to gameplay and story. Moment Cid dies it turns to trash mobs and fetch quests until lame boss fight (non Eikon battles). You slog until Titan, slog until Bahamjt. Straight to Odin, tons of cutscenes then Ultima.
Best the game. Writing is awful. Cutscenes happen too much. Dungeons are repetitive. Enemies aren't interesting, just trash mobs. Fighting a dragoon stopped being interesting when their move sets never change. Items don't mean much. You can play the game without accessories if you want, the only significant accessories were really the ones for Odin's abilities. Once you get Odin's abilities you don't really need to use anything else. Shivas Diamond Dust is overpowered for staggering. Her dash turns every boss into a joke, esp with permafrost. Mega flare plus Gigaflare removed bosses HP like nothing. Zankutsen is so easy to charge you can spam it.
This game should've let you play as Joshua when he was traveling with Jote. Should've switched between Joshua and Jote. Since Joshua was hunting Ultima, we could've seen Joshua's perspective to build Ultima as a boss, and also tell the story of other nations, since Joshua isn't a fugitive so he can go wherever he wants.
I like turn based games and action games. Crazy, I know.
If that's the case, then you should try 4, 6, 7, 10, 12, 15 (maybe) or 7 Remake (maybe). Could also try Tactics. Even 14 if you're willing to play an MMO.
Structurally 16 is most similar to 14 outside of the combat. If you haven't played 14 you'll probably be surprised at how similar it is.
Tactics and FF12 would be similar outside of gameplay.
Have no idea what FF you should play if you hated it. FF7 probably.
I didn't really like the story.
I liked the gameplay when they actually let me play it even though a lot of the fun things you can do aren't ever used in any real scenario. You can do some sick combo's in this game but only against trash enemies that die to things instantly anyway. The combo's you can do to actual bosses is extremely limited and you are better off just cycling cd's and playing defensively.
>game is too easy so i don't use potions etc >die to a boss ONCE because the fight is new and i need to learn the mechanics >restart with full potions and boss checkpoints >people defend this dumbass mechanic because muh casuals and story driven game or that it isn't dank souls, saying it like they invented difficulty
first god of slop and now ff16 copying this garbage. i am trying to like the game but it's the only thing that's not making it ez on me
I've just been saving before moving into the boss room. It's clunky and genuinely moronic that you have to go that far just to restart a boss fight, but it works.
I really don't get the appeal of the game. The phoenix ifrit fight in the demo is just five minutes of moving a circle reticule around the screen while animations play in the background with or without your input. People claimed it was so good that it made them buy the full game but for me it's the main reason why I didn't.
You people claiming the game is good are all lying to get replies, right?
Here’s my biggest problem >cool shit can only be done on mooks with no stagger >they die too fast to be worth using resources for anyway >cool down timer means if you use your skills to stagger quicker, you can’t use them during the stagger period >combat then devolves into stagger using as little abilities as possible and then spamming all abilities during stagger and repeat >essentially, one eikon to stagger, one eikon to drive up multiplier, one eikon to dps >every encounter plays like this
So it does start to get samey. There’s no “oh this boss is resistant to physical, so I have to change things up,” or “this boss can only be damaged by fire attacks,” etc. the streamlined combat means all encounters play the same.
>combat then devolves into stagger using as little abilities as possible
You generally don't need too many abilities to stagger anyway if you're actually using the abilities that are better at staggering. That's kind of the point. Aside from bosses, it generally only takes a magic burst combo and a Rook's gambit to half stagger something, then a grab to stun them, then a lunge to choose distance and a full Gouge will finish off the bar and get you a stagger. You don't have to be conservative about it to save up for the stagger, you can be conservative because it doesn't actually take that much.
It's good if you get gud. If you don't know how to have fun with the gameplay then you ultimately won't even with all the additional abilities you unlock. One of my only gripes is the basic 4 hit combo. There doesn't seem to be any variation from it and it's maddening.
there's nothing to git gud at as the combat is just dmc's braindead sandbag juggling simulator
the game will lgit gud when they add a playable party and magic affinities and status effects and exploration and some nice environments
>Playable party members
You just want to play as jill you troonygay. I won't argue about the lack of affinities. Not sure what they were thinking there but i wouldn't say it takes away the fun. If they did add affinities. All you gays would say it's too much like DmC and not DMC. The gays will never be happy
The fighting without the eikon abilities, you're meant to mix up lunge, extreme lunge, jump and then strike from height, dodge hit from the rear, basic combo then hit with magic blast. Then you slowly mix it up with heatwave, dodge back, lunge in close, strike, hit, hit, hit, hit, magic blast! jump on the enemy, strike down from height, Eikon ability, dodge, rising, dodge, parry with heatwave then move in close with lunge, strike combo!
Then it gets more complicated as you add in more Eikon abilities.
It's as simple or as complex as you're willing to put the time in to learn the move-sets. You can simply press square to basic attack, or you can learn.
what is there to git gud at? the dodging and parrying are extremely generous, the combinations of eikon abilities are extremely limited, and like you said, there's no variation or skill involved with the combat inputs
also there are only like 5 enemy types, none of which have interesting mechanics or challenge to them
it's like saying being a gas station attendant is fun if you get good at it.
I just beat the game and did all the side missions and marks on action gameplay. Pretty fun on the boss fights and s marks. Everything else is easy mode. They really should have placed a hard mode at the start instead of it being locked to new game. Took 48 hours but I enjoyed it. Main character had sex. Can't say that much to the rest of the FF main protagonist except for Cecil and Jack.
Biggest thing against ff16 is being locked to two abilities per eikon and three eikons per gameplay. I finished the game with literally the first 3 eikons and didn't bother with the rest. Garuda to stagger and Titan/Phoenix to damage. Royal guard and precision dodging felt rewarding but it made the game too easy due to loose timing.
Lack of difficulty in action mode is annoying but I heard good things about FF and especially ultimaniac mode but I’m not trying to burn myself out so I’ll come back in a couple months to a year.
FF mode is fun because you now have all the abilities and you can play with them with lots of enemy remixes in the fights. Ultimaniac is stupid hard though.
Ultimaniac is ball bustling hard but incredibly satisfying getting through an area, it is really difficult and I'm glad it's in the game, it's a shame it's not advertised as heavily as it should be.
In my opinion I honestly think they got scared not presenting at least FF mode in normal play because people will say that it takes too long finish enemies. I really think FF mode was supposed to be present at first, but they put it after NG+ when they got scared.
If Ultimaniac was the actual NG+ it would have been great.
Theyre approaching difficulty wrong imho. Even dmc5 does not have hp sponges like this. Enemies should just hit harder and so should you, and potions should be even further decreased or in an actual hard mode disabled once you get limit break. Limit break and torgal health regen should be your only ways of healing in such a mode.
Some heavy rebalancing should be done for the pc port next year. Of all the games this needs a zodiac edition the most

Also FF mode should have canceled using the assistance rings. Dunno why that was still usable in that mode.

Less dodge i frames, more chronolith trials in the game and accessible earlier, let them teach you things like enemy step, lunge/stinger parrying, torgal combo juggling, etc
Add scores to random battle and have it make you earn more ap/exp depending on performance. Have more shit to do in the maps. Less invisible walls. Faster running / sprint while in town.

Also, add a REAL bloody palace mode that goes up to like 999 floors
Add arcade mode from the title screen but add it as an alternative to playing the main game. And let you play that arcade mode from beginning to end without having to select each chapter. Basically like a continuous DMC like game.
Also, add the ability to disable cinematic clashes in arcade mode, cut down on some of the forced cutscenes or at least make that an option. Even with the current option to disable cutscenes theres still too many in arcade mode
Add turbo mode and legendary dark knight mode (tons of enemies onscreen everywhere)
This is all shit they could easily implement in a pc royale edition that would make the game much better and wouldnt even require that much money or time

I know XVI is divisive but honestly my take is that it's a good first try on a modern day FF. The next ones that will try for XVII (obviously because FF is almost always made by different combination of developers) will take a look at XVI and get what is obviously good there and add their take on what should be better.
Man as long as XVII doesn't take like a decade to show up again. I want at least two FF games per generation.
Far as I know (I am not sure) but didn't the developers say that they have a 2-year post launch plan for XVI?

Eikonic loadouts - add a button so you can switch between 2 sets if eikonic loadouts on the fly in combat, but pit this behind a cooldown or have some other way to prevent mass spam.
Nerf some eikonic abilities like ignition, just rebalance everything. The cooldowns seem implemented just to prevent you from being a complete god that slaughters everything. Maybe lower cooldowns but just complete rebalancing everywhere so it offers somewhat of a challenge
Also, less repetition in music. Another reason ppl b***h about the sidequests is that so many end in a basic mob fight with the same background music. It makes them seem copy paste. I get the feel there were more tracks in 15 than here

Its the type of gamer that is just blind to western storytelling tropes and only makes it an issue when its japanese or weeb. Its just low key racism.

Look at the newbie who doesn't know that people have been posting like this here for over a fricking decade. How about you just have a nice day, /misc/ tourist.
I don't think so considering the repositioning of enemies and the skills you have at that moment in the story.
But yeah, something like ultimaniac without the repositioning and hp bloat would be a pretty fun hard mode, it's actually dumb how they actually have programmed all that aggressiveness on the enemies and you have to wait until finishing the game and then that part on final fantasy mode too see it in an arcade mode.
Japanese dev moment.
>didn't bother with the rest
Unfortunate since there are a lot of good moves in those other kits. But you kept the challenge because Odin breaks the difficulty. I died to a few of the S rank hunts before I got it and cleaned them all up quickly after I got him
>There's too much blatant dicksucking/irrational hatred out here though.
The game triggered a lot of western journos even before release. So it's kinda making the rounds of negativity for them. I did notice blatant multiple pieces from them almost everyday trying their hardest to nitpick every little detail they didn't like.
I'm not saying that there were no flaws. But their complaints were so head-scratching I was wondering why they were trying their best to make people hate the game more than I expected.
Ye there was definitely a concerted attempt to hurt the sales of this game. And unlike hogwarts legacy they could do a small to medium amount of damage cuz final fantasy franchise doesnt have the same brand power as harry potter and is more reliant on word of mouth
Game journos and influencers in general are just scum. Thankfully most of them will be out of a job in 2 years time as AI replaces them
Unpopular opinion, but I really liked the Barnabas fight. It was the one and only true 1 v 1 duel in the game. Very reminiscent of DMC3 with the tower and stuff. I understand people baffled why there was no Eikon vs Eikon fight, but it was kind of obvious it was not going to happen because Barnabas wanted an actual duel and he also was planning to lose anyway.
Barnabas fight was based and I was genuinely shocked to see how many people disliked it. It’s great in both gameplay and the themes of the story at that point.
It's a good fight, people misunderstood it was meant as the gameplay fight rather than spectacle, Barnabus wants to fight you as he is not as his Eikon. He was Zenos 2.0
Yeah people were still on a high after the Bahamut spectacle. Also the game presented Odin as a damn tour de force when he's primed. So that's why people were expecting that kind of fight.
I get it. That's understandable. But if we follow story-wise what Barnabas wanted it was not going to happen that way.
It's a good fight, people misunderstood it was meant as the gameplay fight rather than spectacle, Barnabus wants to fight you as he is not as his Eikon. He was Zenos 2.0
dont care. its dumb. could have had both. should have had both
>It was the one and only true 1 v 1 duel in the game
Benedikta?
Hugo?
Sleipner? >Very reminiscent of DMC3 with the tower and stuff >it's good because it reminds me of another game
smoothbrain take >I understand people baffled why there was no Eikon vs Eikon fight, but it was kind of obvious it was not going to happen because Barnabas wanted an actual duel and he also was planning to lose anyway.
No it wasn't "obvious". He DOES transform both times you fight him, you just don't get to actually fight the eikon form, I don't see how Eikon vs Eikon isn't an "actual" duel. It was cut because they ran out of budget for it, no point in engaging in this degree of mental gymnastics to try and justify it as being a good thing.
It could have been significantly better if Clive didn't insta-lose twice before it and built up Barnabas more organically.
I think mechanically the fight is fine, I just didn't like waxing philosophical so much in between.
But if you made it so that Barnabas was directly a threat to Clive early on and Clive was closer to beating him the 2nd encounter, this 3rd fight would have been way more exciting.
And yes, the DMC3 first Vergil fight parallel wasn't lost on me either. Odin is practically diet Vergil mode as is Shiva's Permafrost dodge a diet Bayonetta Witch Time. I liked it a lot.
i was itching for an eikon battle because the last one was bahamut which was ages ago. then you only get an ifrit risen fight with ultima at the end of the game.
i wish leviathan was not cut. during the ship battle to rescue jill, while i had already given up hope he was going to make an appearance, i thought it would be a good opportunity for a leviathan fight
Since Square is going down the remake rabbit hole, how about a remake of 14 as a solo game with 16 combat ?
Imagine this game with a proper budget and gameplay that's actually fun.
SE won't do it. CBUIII is prepping for that though. It's pretty obvious when you see how they are remaking old dungeons with trusts allies. But I don't see SE wanting to do it. They consider XIV the game that makes money so that they can make other games. They need it to churn money.
yeah. i beat it and it was not fun. eikon battles were great but thats like 5% of the game and i really cannot earnestly say i enjoyed a game if only 5% of the time it was truly great.
starts fantastic, teeters off when cid is introduced, goes off a fricking cliff when cid dies, and then once you kill bahamut it never recovers. almost everything fell flat for me, the gameplay was really fricking shit, enemies simultaneously have too low of ttk and too high of ttk, some will die before you even get a combo off and some will take fricking minutes to kill doing the exact same actions over and over because combat is just designed poorly.
story really was great at first, super interesting then it really does just nosedive with the ultima shit. i dont mind fighting god but i think this game wouldve been better if we got a situation where we see someones rise to godhood, like if barnabas was a key player and we actually saw him and ultima cooperating so he could rise in power. just something like that, that makes the god tie into the "political" stuff more.
i was really interested in clives mother betraying her kingdom and essentially performing a coup and then thats just completely dropped for 15 hours until they bring her back and try to make her sympathetic. thats what i felt like they were trying to do anyway. as if the moment she kills herself was supposed to make the player go "wow. that sucks".
most the interesting stuff is fumbled for ultima, who is backloaded and feels so fricking forced. he felt like a committee decision to have a god in this game.
i enjoyed 13 more than 16 honestly
>until they bring her back and try to make her sympathetic
What? When in the fricking world do they try to do that? At most it just shows how she's completely in over her head about producing nobility when her plans have nothing to do with Ultima's grand design. Damn near everyone I've talked to in these threads were hoping she suffered more, she was absolutely not sympathetic.
And nah, I cannot stomach 13 in the slightest. I actually liked characters in 16, Sazh was the only one I liked in 13 and he wasn't "that" major since his story was pretty realistically contained in just wanting to save his son.
>What? When in the fricking world do they try to do that?
when shes given motivations for almost 5 minutes straight where instead of clive calling her shit for being fricking insane, he just silently stands there and listens to her ramble on about, occasionally saying "wow you are crazy"
trying to give her sympathy by her being "shamed by her inferiors" because of the fact her firstborn wasnt the phoenix and clive not immediately retorting he was sold into fricking slavery BY HER felt like it was written by a fricking alien. and then joshua tries to take her with him (presumably to the hideout) despite the fact she got his father killed right in front of him. >Damn near everyone I've talked to in these threads were hoping she suffered more, she was absolutely not sympathetic
i agree because they didnt make her sympathetic. they tried to, and it didnt work. she shouldve had more screentime and shouldve just been the actual main villain, cutting the ultima wankery >I actually liked characters in 16
like who? jill is a non character who is a walking plot device, there to be captured three times (twice was pushing it), gav is one dimensional and mid was annoying every time she was on screen.
i liked clives uncle and cid, but cid fricking dies halfway through and clives uncle wasnt given nearly enough screentime
>and then joshua tries to take her with him (presumably to the hideout) despite the fact she got his father killed right in front of him.
Did you somehow miss the entirety of Joshua's characterization post-timeskip or are you just a moron
i dont believe in any characterization that would allow joshua to forgive his mother for selling his brother who he loved into slavery and getting his fricking father beheaded in front of him at the age of 12, sorry.
>why does the moronicly noble and duty-bound brother act moronicly noble and duty-bound

because maybe matricide is bad, despite how evil your mother might be? maybe killing is bad? maybe Joshua has a soft spot for her because he actually got doted on as a kid? because there's a ton of people out there who were utterly and completely abused by their parents but still love them?
I know that everyone loves their revenge porn but you either want the characters to have complex emotions or you don't. Would it have been funny to see Clive chop her head off? Maybe, but he's also like what, 35? 20 someodd years later, with the fate of the world, the ailing life of his brother, and Ultima all on his plate?

It's true that Clive has accepted the world has far bigger problems and that someone had to take up Cid's mantle to go break the crystals and that while his mother's treachery was the one that got him into this shit, he has to be the one to do it. Yeah it's kind of a plot contriving excuse for him to not nearly care as much but he absolutely has bigger things to worry about. The damage had been done and his mom's actions is causing Dion's rampage across the city thus robbing her of another kingdom.
>trying to give her sympathy by her being "shamed by her inferiors"
I don't think we're supposed to take this seriously as a proper excuse. It just told to me that she was just a b***h who was too caught up sniffing her own farts. I took it was Clive just fricking reeling from such a stupid reason that she fricked over the family for such a reason. I will agree with you that Joshua was entirely too forgiving of her though, that was some shit but he seems to be that person who would be willing to forgive anyone.
I don't think they attempted to make her sympathetic at all, just fricking crazy and we weren't supposed to take her insecurity as a valid reason. I will say that a more politically charged story instead of an existential one would have probably been more interesting though. Barnabas had a big role to fulfill given that he's the first big boss that shifts the game from "just break the mothercrystals" and into more existential "JRPG kill god" plotline. >like who?
Clive himself, Joshua, Byron, Cid, Gav, Dion, most named members of the hideout, etc. I liked the smaller pieces adding up for the smaller stories.
I enjoyed what little I got of him between being on the opposite side of the spectrum to Barnabas. He definitely needed more development but he's the unironic pure-bright nobleman who genuinely wants to do the best thing for his people compared to literally every other dominant you fight.

every cutscene post-prologue besides Clive meeting his Uncle and Odin fighting Bahamut is completely devoid of soul, like the one you posted
>I don't think they attempted to make her sympathetic at all, just fricking crazy and we weren't supposed to take her insecurity as a valid reason.
the way i saw it was that her reasoning was supposed to be taken genuinely. it really took me aback that they tried to give a character who was mustache twirlingly evil a motivation, and that being "feel pity for me". just didnt sit right with me at all. >Barnabas had a big role to fulfill given that he's the first big boss that shifts the game from "just break the mothercrystals" and into more existential "JRPG kill god" plotline.
barnabas was seriously underdeveloped. his fight with clive shouldve been around the midway point, so that we truly see and feel clive get stronger. clive losing to him and then getting shiva and suddenly hes strong enough to win felt seriously rushed. and if the point of that was barnabas going "i want to lose to you" i think thats lame and it couldve been executed way, way better. >Dion
hes cool but he really needed more screentime. i couldnt really care about his boyfriend
because maybe matricide is bad, despite how evil your mother might be? maybe killing is bad? maybe Joshua has a soft spot for her because he actually got doted on as a kid? because there's a ton of people out there who were utterly and completely abused by their parents but still love them?

>maybe Joshua has a soft spot for her because he actually got doted on as a kid
joshua seemed to explicitly hate her dude. we see him clenching his fists around her all the time because he doesnt like her. >I know that everyone loves their revenge porn but you either want the characters to have complex emotions or you don't.
no, i wanted a good script. i dont think this confrontation shouldve happened at all with how the script is now. she either needed to be fully evil and an actual villain or not at all. instead its wishy-washy.
a compromise wouldve just been for them to tell her to frick off and not kill her. trying to help her just felt relatively unrealistic. i didnt want her to die, i just wanted her to actually do something in the story, and ultimas kid vessel really did not count for me.
none of what you said counters my post. the point still stands, you either want complex emotions or you don't. she is still his mother, he's still a duty-bound moron who continually tries to do the right thing even if it is at a detriment to himself. it makes perfect sense, and you are a moron if you think otherwise.

except there arent complex emotions in that moment at all. its not written well. you continue to say that hes "duty bound" but joshua is a literal non character who does one singular thing that would count as "duty bound" and its the act of sealing ultima inside him, and that wasnt "duty bound". that was out of the pure love of his brother. he doesnt harbor that love for his mother, so its unbelivable he would immediately try to help her upon seeing her for the first time in 18 years.

As you continue to say, as you continue to provide no argument beyond "nuh-uh" and "it isn't what I wanted". >you continue to say that hes "duty bound" but joshua is a literal non character who does one singular thing that would count as "duty bound" and its the act of sealing ultima inside him, and that wasnt "duty bound". that was out of the pure love of his brother.
Okay so you either didn't play the game, or you have no media literacy to speak of. Choose one? >he doesnt harbor that love for his mother,
Says who? It's still his fricking mom, a fact that, again, you have failed to refute. As evil and fricked up as her actions were, she did really love Joshua, as evidenced by her actions immediately after realizing he's been alive the whole time. >he would immediately try to help her upon
You act like he strained himself or something, he literally just reached out his hand.
I didn't take Anabella's shit at all. I thought it was a laughable reason to frick up your entire family just for that perceived shame. I didn't bother me at all at how everyone just felt pity for someone so weak-willed. That's how I took it, I did like how Jill was significantly more angry than Clive in that scene. >spoiler
Setting up Barnabas significantly earlier would have helped. Two forced losses and then you trounce him? Even I found that tough to swallow but I appreciated Odin's abilities gameplay wise so I let it slide for the most part but they could have easily achieved their intended goal of him being a rival if his two fights were spaced out a lot earlier. Although I guess we were supposed to connect the dots that the 2nd hooded guy and Sleipnir goading Hugo was also his responsibility as a proxy for Ultima. >Dion's boyfriend
I didn't care either but Dion's commitment to the empire and how he was trying to save his father from Anabella was endearing enough to me. Dude was absolutely willing to just murder a kid in front of everyone.

>Setting up Barnabas significantly earlier would have helped.
for sure. having it be an actual challenging boss fight and then going "well he wanted to lose" just didnt really work at all. >Dude was absolutely willing to just murder a kid in front of everyone.
this was one of the best moments in the entire game. i loved dions commitment to his father, and the moment he jumps in front of the spear was genuinely shocking
>except there arent complex emotions in that moment at all. its not written well.

yup saying "you dont want complex emotions" is vastly different huh >Okay so you either didn't play the game, or you have no media literacy to speak of. Choose one? >non elaboration
good one dog >Says who?
literally the example i gave where they showcase he does not like her. >It's still his fricking mom, a fact that, again, you have failed to refute.
and? do you genuinely believe that every child loves their parent with every part of their being? its not a "complex emotional" moment, its actually depicted extremely black and white with how joshua immediately tries to help her.
you cannot use the argument "hes duty bound" and then immediately say "its a moment with complex emotions" because these are literally contradictory statements. the notion that joshua is strictly following his duties is one that implies joshua is acting out of pure good. using the media literacy card and failing to realize this is ironic >she did really love Joshua
SHE loved joshua. the game shows that joshua did not care for her. what part of this is hard to understand for you? >You act like he strained himself or something, he literally just reached out his hand.

you are truly a fricking midwit if you think details the game SPECIFICALLY SHOWS YOU does not matter in the long run. why the frick do you think they would highlight this scene? its to show the player that joshua doesnt like her.
youre free to post a scene that shows he does that isnt the scene we are talking about, but you wont be able to find one. because this is how they showed joshuas relationship with his mother. he puts up a front that he likes her and behind his back he shows he does not. this is what this shot means.
>you cannot use the argument "hes duty bound" and then immediately say "its a moment with complex emotions" because these are literally contradictory statements.
's no complex emotions in doing an impersonal duty that conflicts with your personal feelings
's no complex emotions in doing an impersonal duty that conflicts with your personal feelings
oh? so joshua doesnt like her now?
the argument is that joshua not only likes his mother, but that hes duty bound to protect her (whatever the frick that means).
its either a scene with complex emotions because joshua does not like her but hes still trying to protect her, or he does like her, so him being duty bounded means literally fricking nothing. which is it

>oh? so joshua doesnt like her now?
That was always the argument you fricking moron, that Joshua was conflicted as to what he should do. On one hand she's personally responsible for a lot of his suffering, on the other, she's likely been nudged around by Ultima, as Joshua knows well. On one hand she's his mother, on the other hand she's a monster. On one hand she should rightfully be left to die, on the other, Joshua is never shown to kill or maim needlessly. This is what "emotionally complex" means, you fricking moron. And, like I said before, of fricking course the knightly moron obsessed with duty would choose to do the "right" thing and give her the chance at redemption.
You are such an utter fricking moron it's unreal. This conversation is over. I can't believe people like you can even tie their fricking shoes in the morning. >game is peddled as super serious, like GoT and definitely really well written and intelligent guise! >actually, it's just the same old kill god plus ridiculous cheezy anime tropes
Gameplay wise I feel kind of the same for alot of parts especially the trash mob encounters. And the entire reason is because it's too easy. Even the boss fights just feel like a speed bump as a result.
I tried ultimaniac garuda and the gameplay felt way more fun because I was actually taking alot of damage from any hit, and every mechanic really mattered. Even the Eikon fight got better because she stayed alive to do mechanics.
They were deathly afraid of the 'core' audience not liking action so they limited the actual gameplay mode (ultimania) behind basically 2 playthroughs.

"Letting off Steam" was so fricking boring it took me a week and a half to get through it cuz I couldn't play for more than 30 seconds without getting distracted. This game straight up should not have been an RPG. Jack's game was more fateful translation of FF mechanics into an action RPG than this was
Why do devs insist on making games with pacing this shitty? It's possible to make cinematic story-driven games without repetitive back-to-back cutscenes. Why even give the player back control if it's just going to be for less than thirty seconds?
I’m on NG+ and the amount of cutscenes per second I’m skipping is pretty insane. FF16 is supposed to be a 1 time only game and you can really feel it. It’s not that I wouldn’t wanna relive the moments from the game but I choke just go to YT to watch Clive and Byron meet. The side quests are also mostly fricking boring. You have this really cool story that feels like the RPG equivalent of 24 in terms of the urgency of the cause and then you get bogged down but so many inane Sadie quests. And they throw so many at you right before the true final boss. I liked my time playing the game and doing all the action bits in NG+ are fun but frick me os the game a slog lol
>God I can’t wait for Rebirth.
Why would you be excited for Rebirth when Remake had all of XVI's issues, sometimes tenfold? On top of knowing you are going to be getting some moronic Nojima story that never actually resolves itself with unrealistic to outright annoying characters?
Not him but I can tell you 2 reasons out of many for why someone would be excited for Rebirth more than 16. Firstly, it being an actual RPG, and secondly, it having a party.
Okay and? My point still stands, Remake has more of the same in terms of issues XVI has, and Rebirth will most certainly have them too. Wow, a shit party system, amazing. Can't wait to wrestle with shitty aggro rules and break every boss in the game simply by swapping characters over and over. Shit AI? Awesome. Can't wait. Awful story? Amazing. Can't wait. Shitty dungeons? Perfect. Exactly what I needed. FFXIII wearing FFVII's skin? Mwah. Final Fantasy is saved.
Remake doesn’t even come close to having the same issues as 16. The game has real itemization, party members, better combat, better base difficulty, less cutscenes less shitty side quests to slow the pacing and better music. Rebirth is gonna be every 16 should have been.

It's funny all the 16 haters thinking 7 Rebirth will be a return to form.
In terms of story and writing it will almost guaranteed to be a huge downgrade. Nojima has never delivered with any story since FF7 OG, and the voice acting was already horrid in FF7 Remake. So it will feel as a huge step down from FF16.
I doubt the 'open world' will really be 'open world'. It will be the same linear corridors and empty open fields cuz SquEnix can't into level design.
So what is left? A story rewrite that shits all over the original FF7?
?t=13435
This guy who played FF7, FF8 and Xenogears in his youth (and other JRPGs) admits he did not like FF7 Remake and turned it off cuz of the Kingdom hearts bullshit injected.
You have several old FF fans that literally stopped being interested in 7 Remake the moment it was revealed it was a bunch of Marvel Cinematic Universe/multiple timeline bullshit. Epicnamebro too.
So if you have several old fans already tuning out and no longer caring, what is going to be left? Young fans will have to pick up the slack, and honestly the only thing I think ppl know of FF7 is that it has a hot girl called Tifa and that egirls on instagram cosplay as her. That's about it, they might have fapped to Tifa a bunch of times in their lives but they prob never played the games or are unwilling to make that investment.

>Unironically outsourcing his opinion to streamers.
Disregarded.
the story is shit. boring, stupid, derivative and soulless shit.
the gameplay is braindead, flashy garbage with no depth at all
there are less than 15 enemy types in the entire game, and almost all of them function in one of 3 different ways
there is literally nothing to do outside walking directly to specified places and killing things.
the sidequests are beyond worthless; literally theme park MMO "go here, talk to person(s), pick up objects, kill trash mobs"
I would argue that this is the worst final fantasy game of all time. Not because it "isn't a true final fantasy game" or lacks RPG elements, but because the story is terrible and the design is a desperate imitation of western movie games at its best, and a single-player MMO at its worst.
Barry won
FFXV is objectively a better game.
Also Soken's score was mediocre. He slays in 14, but this was extremely hit-or-miss, with mostly misses. That one track that plays every time you fight a Dominant in human form was particularly bad.
I really want Baldur's Gate 3 to come out already so I can get this bad taste of FF16 out of my mouth. Thank frick it was pushed to August 3rd for release. Sometimes God is merciful.
My character in BG 3 will actually get to go home and frick the prom queen though. And the EA is already miles ahead in terms of writing than the entirety of FF16.
because it sounds like Cloud but works in the game's boring Game of Thrones wannabe world
also the japs think in ways that would lead to them seeing the name "Clive" and being like "ohhhh, yoshi-p san, boku no main-character wantsu to "live" on his own terms, so we should call him cLIVE"
because the prologue was the only good part of the game. I suspect they spent too much time and money making it excellent, then needed to rush development through approximately the entire rest of the game.
this game is not good for streaming because data compression of YouTube removes a lot of details in pic . This is why the game looks so bland on YouTube.
>ff16 is not a jrpg. there is not a single rpg element in the entire game, and there's not joy or weird nip fun that would add the j
Source? I encountered many rpg and jrpg elements in my playthroughs. Did you actually play the game? It's not anime if that's what you mean...
Too much dialogue and japanese racism against weeb/kid shit.
Too much dialogue and cutscenes makes it unengaging and the ameritards that follow streams are still on phase of japanese games being for kids and nu males even with how popular anime is nowadays. All of this kills views.
They rather watch streaming slop like minecraft, or only up.
>"very big/relevant streamer right now is talking about bear sex" >literally nobody gives a frick besides like moistcritical who made video laughing at this shit and the game he won't even touch
I'm not going to be able to forget that Titan, Bahamut, and Ultima fight for a while.
And the particular joy of Lightning Rod + Level 5 Zantetsukening things to death
Its ok, playing through it myself, I just went back to The Phoenix Gate, beat 'Shadow Clive' and unlocked Ifrit and Limit Break the enemies are a bit health spongy and I wish the ability cooldowns were just a bit more generous (less of an issue when you can equip three Eikons) but its not too bad.
Clive's mom is an absolute b***h though what the frick.
clive's mom gets literally 0 development. i thought they were doing a Bene Gesserit thing with her when she spares Clive's life, but no. she's just a shallow, evil, moronic b***h
she is objectively moronic, as the writing of her character is moronic. all the machination and manipulation she's supposed to do is done off screen, ultima is her child, and she kills her self cus she goes craaaaaazy
I would probably kill myself too if I saw my empire getting destroyed because Dion went full schizo, my hated son appeared to calling me out and with a second eikon of fire, my dead son appeared alive after 20 years still with the phoenix, Dion killed my perfect son who then vanished somehow in the air like dust and then the band wanted to take me with them probably in her mind to punish her.
b***h went that afternoon from thinking her son would inherit the Phoenix and Bahamut after the empire ended up betraying and killing Dion, with her son saving the world and drowning in applauses as her mother, to Joshua being alive still somehow, Dion killing her son, and expecting some torture or execution after her sons took her with them.
She must have thought she was in a complete nightmare.
you've described a shallow, 2 dimensional character with moronic writing that needs head canon to provide any actual depth. thank you for proving my point.

Frick off, as if you aren't the kind of person that would b***h about if they give her a redemption arc because what else could you do with her.
Or that would b***h about how the game is trying to make you pity her by going further in and showing you how toxic her upbringing was, how her family and her people expected something of her that didn't come into fruition, and how it ate her from the inside and made her suffer that she failed to do the only thing she was expected to do with a first son that didn't get the phoenix who people used to laugh at you about him being another's woman son, and how the son that gets the phoenix is a sickly weakling.

xvi is poorly written, sloppy trash
you having goy-taste is ok
I think there was a subtle shift in her character.
At the start of the game she was obsessed titles and dominants. Social order and all that.
But we see her changed in that scene with Dion. He's the dominant of bahamut. Prince of Oriflamme. Leader of the dragoons. The spoony bards write songs about him.
But his name is mud to her.
Dion and his father rose to prominence after Dion awakened Bahamut, I think it was stated somewhere they weren't born of a royal lineage, I'd have to check up on the lore again though.
I think Anabella didn't care about Dion because he strictly WASN'T from royalty but her marrying into the family and producing Olivier was somehow more legitimate than Dion was.
Sylvestre is royalty but he probably wasn't next in line for the throne until the dirty commoner he slept with gave birth to Dion and he awakened as Bahamut

Isn't the Emperor selected from among the Clergy of the Sanbresque religion? There doesn't seem to be much distinction between Priest and Politician in their society, but the idea is that Sylvestre was some sort of Bishop or something prior to his bastard becoming Dominant and that giving him a radical political boost.
Funny how they desperately tried to reach the Japanese FF audience, but the comments are all just fans of Kenichi himself. And the female in this music video is more attractive than Jill.
shit song
this one should've played longer
Song for the American audience but there isn't much of an audience for this game.
>the only emotional moments in the game are characters talking about how Cid died >for the entire second half of the game >dozens upon dozens of moments where characters talk about how sad they are that Cid is dead >no other moments of successfully crafted emotional nuance exist (besides when Clive meets his uncle) in a 30-90 hour game
there's no way they didn't give up on 90% of their narrative and game-design plans after the prologue. this shit story was bafflingly shallow and lazy
let me guess, you are the edgelord guy who thought Joshua will be evil and they will fight because Joshua went super evil villain and not teary reunion and brotherhood till the end
I certainly felt more for the two than I ever did for Lightning and Sera, not that it was that difficult but what did you dislike about it? Could have used a bit more Edgar and Sabin energy though.
>lightning and sera >edgar and sabin
literally who and who and who and who
I disliked it because the writing was stilted, awkward garbage and the performances were the same breathy, boosted whispering they'd been the whole game. it was a moment that required genuine sense of space within the narrative, feeling and emotion, but like the rest of the post-prologue game felt like AI-directed plot occurring on screen without any intention besides moving to the next plot-point
>Lightning and Sera
The sibling characters from 13 >Edgar and Sabin
The sibling characters from 6
I played the game in Japanese and it's dialogue is markedly different but I'll have to go see the scene again.
In a good or bad way?
Meeting back up with anyone from Rosaria was a satisfying moment for me. I was really afraid Sir Wade was going to die like Murdoch's wife.
>Jote is the only character in the game that feels real and nuanced >receives less than 20 minutes of screen-time and has no on-screen narrative importance
i really wonder how much the vision was compromised early in development. So much of this game feels underdeveloped or omitted. All of the characters are these cardboard mannequins being pushed about by the plot, with no agency or emotional depth besides what the script has them claim to have through their stilted, one-dimensional dialogue
They're not even pushed around by the plot.
Cid spits out tag lines that sound nice, but they never elaborate on his backstory or relationships with other characters.
I don't think that much, it's a story about Clive first and foremost with very defined themes, and that is pretty clear from the start.
I get some people wanting to see more of the other characters, but the thing is that they are just not important to the narrative itself, and at the end it's a standalone game with ~25h of main story.
Make an arc about each of the main ones and you get like 2-3h for each gameplay included, which is more or less what we ended up getting, imaging having to give screentime to Jote and similar characters on top. And you also have to count that most of them are not with you, so you would have to cut away with more cinematics more frequently to show them off.
So yeah, it's just not how the game or story are designed. For the characters they wanted to give them a lot with very little with very effective characterization and details, and then having 1 or 2 events with each.
It's lacking against a long series and things like that, but enough for what they are going for in a game.
I feel bad for Jote. She fell in love with a homosexual or at least devoted her life to him. Fricking Joshua went and hugged Dion instead of Jote when Clive went and hugged Jill.
>I have to force myself through the gameplay.
anyone saying this isn't that deep in the game. By the end of the game the amount of options i had and how i was going to maximize damage had me going into training mode to trying stuff out. I get why the DMC guy said this game was his magnum opus. If you're running into the wall because they only have Phoenix and Garuda, stick with it. Being able to do hundreds of thousands of damage to downed enemies is some of the best shit i've played in a game this year.

just finished this recently, does anyone remember reading a book/item description at some point in the game talking about a cult that believed in revival/immortality but failed to achieve it? i checked the atl entries at harpocrates and couldnt find it there, super interested cause it has potential implications for the ending
no, defs not the circle of malius, at least I don't think so. it was vague about what group it was but I know its not mentioned in harpocartes books as ive checked all those. ff16 seems to have a lot of untouched lore like this outside the books, for instance another secretive group that tried to replicate magic without the requirement of aether that was banished from the twins is mentioned in the undying hq
yeah some of the lore is pretty interesting. you definitely need to read them to understand what exactly the fallen were as well as what the sins of dzemekys and all that stuff was about. the way its explained is pretty convoluted so you have to create a mental timeline in your head though
The implication that Drake's Spine is actually the Mothercrystal of Lightning is done so minorly by some of the ATL lore about the Sins of Dzemekys and Barnabas, but then you think about it for a moment and it seems so obvious. Of course the giant purple crystal is Lightning, that is the colour of Ramuh in the game. Odin's magic is associated with the dark red/black colour and his moveset is indicated with pink on the UI.

yeah that's exactly it, I honestly do think that more of it should have been explained in game but it really does make reading the lore entries particularly interesting, especially since no single one gives you the full picture. for instance one of the greater mysteries is exactly what dzemekys and the fallen are. you need to read like 10 separate lore entries to get the full picture and all of it is explained. if you haven't read all of them yet I highly recommend it as I personally found it fun

I like the character web and stuff with Vivian, but it seems kind of overkill. The plot that occurs within the scope of the game isn't that complicated outside of a couple of characters. The history of the world with Harpocrates is great though. There's some excellent stuff on those flash cards.

Drake's Spine being the Mothercrystal of lightning is also given by the Rahmuh lore entry where the Motes of Lightning were from central Ash.
Dzemekys would have been the Mothercrystal of darkness since they were the people that fricked off to the continent after it blewed up.
The only one that is strange is Drake's Tail at Twinside. The Motes of Wind were the ones who were around the islands between Ash and Storm, but the Mothercrystal is deep blue like it's meant to be the Mothercrystal of water.
Are you thinking of the Executors? The secret society that go around destroying information that isn't in concordance with the common interpretation of history? I don't remember other secret societies being mentioned
Its not them either, when I think about it there's at least about 4+ secret societies mentioned around the game, of which only about 2/3 are properly dug into. Although the executors do interest me, their motives are never fully explained and the guy you meet mentions that 'we'll meet again' in spite of that not happening. seems like potential sequel/dlc bait
Boss fights are good despite the QTEs
S-Rank hunt board fights are good
The first act of the story is good
Otherwise it's a mess. I am now skipping cutscenes & I'm wondering if I should bother finishing given ppl saying that the padding only gets worse in the last 1/3rd.
i killed all the s-ranks, which were just copy-pastes of mini bosses
the boss fights were braindead easy, repetitive, and devoid of the emotional weight that a quality narrative would provide
unless you like the references to old anime, tokusatsu and kaiju films (which is literally all the spectacle featured in the game) there's nothing to engage with
>unless you like the references to old anime, tokusatsu and kaiju films (which is literally all the spectacle featured in the game) there's nothing to engage with
Not him but that definitely describes me. The game being easy is a shame but the fights scratched the same itch replaying MGR for its boss fights did for me.
The boss fights were too easy like everything in XVI but they were A+ spectacles with incredible graphics unless you are playing on a SDR monitor or an old TV.
I think the combat system is good when they actually make you read and dodge and use your cooldowns efficiently, so I liked the S-rank hunts. If you think it all sucks no matter what you're entitled to your opinion. No matter what it's a letdown after 7R.
I understand them not wanting to give you all the eikons from the very start of the game, but the normal difficulty should definitely been harder (it already has the journalist rings to tweak the difficulty) and they probably should have put the score in, that way you'd have more incentive to play stylishly and experiment.
You could make the trash mobs 3x hp and 3x damage and you wouldn't need more eikons to survive. You might need to actually use consumables, that's about it
the game was alright, best part was during the geruda fight where the main character hacks off its fingers then walks up and just stabs it right in the fricking face. man that part was awesome.
Will FFXVII with Ishikawa writing the story and characters and copying and tweaking 7R combat save the franchise or is AAA mainline FF a pointless endeavor after XVI?
I hope Ishikawa gets to direct a mainline FF game. I don't think CBU3 need to throw out the XVI combat though, I'd like to see them do a followup to 16 (even if it isn't 17) with an evolution of the combat. Add some more basic combo variation, maybe reskin the eikon system to be swapping jobs or something (having different weapons for a different basic moveset between the 3 stances could be fun) and add some more robust RPG mechanics (stuff like upgrading actually being a mechanic shouldn't be locked to NG+).
Overall I think XVI was really great, I hope they get to use the assets and stuff to turn around some more content fairly quickly. Jill, Dion or Joshua DLC would be amazing.
Yeah, the eikon system is a pretty cool idea for an action FF.
Instead of eikon make them jobs, each with a different basic moveset, speed etc and let you chose which one you want to start with.
In the sphere you would chose the different abilities with it's upgrades, and mastering different jobs could allow you to choose which movesets and abilities you want to use from the ones you have mastered.
It's brilliant actually.
It’ll get shitposted just like right now and it will still be divisive because the shitty fanbase doesn’t know what they want. People will say it’s not FF and praise XVI for being the hidden gem that it was blah blah. Rinse and repeat till the heat death of the universe.
Ye and the fanbase doesn't understand they're sabotaging their own series doing this. Cuz it already has an uphill battle to climb since the braindead kiddies on Twitch HATE 'weeb/JRPG games', so here they come with a premeditated shitposting campaign against the latest Final Fantasy and it just makes it even more unlikely any FF game can ever get an FF7 effect going again.
You see the same shit going on with Nintendo Directs, relentless shitposting by tendies whenever a JRPG gets presented. So keep it up I guess. If you want this franchise and genre to die, keep up the vitriolic shitposting.
Doesnt help when the fanbase is filled with a bunch of insecure manchildren. Saw some FF nerd bragging about having spent the last 15 years of his life arguing on these boards.
>I thought Nomura didn't work on this

Stellagay wins again. >A political intrigue/social commentary plot like Tactics >References to Vagrant Story like the Blood Sin >Modern but less scifi FF since 12 >Visual grandeur under art director Hiroshi Minagawa >Event direction and Heavensward-tier story by Maehiro himself and other FF12/TLR writing staff like in Versus >Lots of battle options like in SaGa games >Overall direction by Hiroshi Takai, one of two developers blessed by Mana, Chocobo creator, FF1 graphic co-director and FF11 director Koichi Ishii as one of two heirs of Final Fantasy >Action combat by Tokyo Team battle designer Takeo Kujiraoka once led by KH creator Tetsuya Nomura (another dev blessed by Koichi Ishii as heir to Final Fantasy) and Ryota Suzuki (and more) of Devil May Cry >Visual effect splendor directed by Versus 13 VFX director Shuichi Sato >Speaking of Tokyo Team, the design of Stella Nox Fleuret was repurposed specifically for this game >Perhaps what might be the Nitroplus Final Fantasy only this time there is no director removal/retool and we're getting the game >Main character is royalty on a revenge mission >Clive's father being based just like Noctis father was supposed to be >The rival blonde guy is Dion/Joshua here >The love interest is the sword lady and a central figure to the protagonist >Countries have their own crystals and each one has a summon representing them >A dog >Cid has a very similar vibe to 2013 trailer Cor >Warping around during combat >Not afraid to be a bit more mature in terms of using blood or killing off characters which was something shown in Versus trailers too >because in 16 the crystals are a stand in for oil, this is a fantasy based on reality
>they lend importance to thefailed hack writer grifting off 1k impressionable manchildren?
This is exactly the route they took with XVI and the story ended up being absolute bilge.
Those guys actually have careers and decent salaries, Joseph. They don't have to larp as a pulp science-fiction writer and panhandle for money with a Patreon.
I only played 2 hours of the game during a anime convention this weekend and I wasn't that impressed. Will buy the eventual PC full edition at a sale at most.
I did expect a FF game to open with a lot of cutscenes, but something was off compared to other games. I don't play westoid moviegames, but I imagine they are like this and worse.
The battles are insanely repetitive and simple. The only way to lose is to die during some skill you were supposed to dodge and instead you brute forced it, since that works in 95% of situations. The last quarter of the game, suffice Odin shit, felt like it was done by a different team and lacked substance. All around, I'd still give it an 8/10 and recommend it to anyone with those caveats.

>>I dislike story
I don't dislike the story because there isn't any story. It's a barebones salad of British VAs that they strapped together 2 weeks before they shipped the game. Mostly unfinished, bleeding with cut content to be reused in DLC or in future Souls games, etc etc. It's got the quality control of a fricking Skyrim mod. They don't even try because they don't have to anymore, people will suck the shit out of Miyazaki's butthole regardless.
JRPG haters like Aris and other 'weeb haters' (which is ironic considering all the fighting games they play which are obviously weeb AF) will often do mental gymnastics where they will rationalize to themselves how Souls games 'are not really JRPGs' or 'not really Japanese games' even though the game's story and setting rips off one of the biggest animes of all time and Miyazaki isn't even remotely coy about it. Every Soulsgay who loves the games and pretends to hate weeb games is an unironic weeb in denial

Boomers like Aris always say the same thing. "I played JRPGs back in the day", then they list the few games they played as a kid, like FF7 or Xenogears.
It's the same with old men in their 30s/40s who go 'oh I watched plenty anime in my day', then it's some normalgay shit like Dragon Ball Z. And they still think that is the best anime has to offer.
It's like being a 40 year old boomer and thinking Seinfeld is still the pinnacle of comedy cuz you watched nothing else anymore.

Gamers are mostly manchild babies whose brains are entirely driven by nostalgia.
They can't appreciate new things anymore and pine back for the days when they still had hope in their lifes. Wanting to relive their childhood endlessly and refusing to grow up.

many good games this year. Its just FFXVI is a garbage movie game with a bad plot. Theres nothing good about it moron
Souls games have progressively become less 'RPG' as time went on.
From Demon's to Dark Souls 1 to DS3 to Sekiro. Know why?
Cuz even Miyazaki does not put RPGs on a pedestal.
Elden Ring's inspirations did not come from RPGs either. They injected more UbiSoft/AAA and BOTW like elements into the Souls formula instead.

All of those still have more RPG element than FFXVI

They did several developer interviews before the game out that it was NOT going to be like an RPG. It's not their fault you didn't watch any of that.
It's clear they don't care or value the RPG light mechanics of FF and went in a different direction.
You have 15 other games in the franchise you can play instead if you want that stuff. There is also 7 Rebirth coming out next year and an FF9 Remake. Stop b***hing about one game not appealing to your particular fetish.

Ok? But I'm only trying to say soul games are RPG, you are the one who crying here
Why do you care what a fat 40 year old balding midget thinks about a game? Is your life so meaningless that you base your identity on this fake fat shill and have no opinion of your own?
Streamer "parasocial friends" are the untermenschen of this world.
i dont watch many ecelebs cause i like playing games myself but Aris is the rare unicorn in the shit pile who trashes sony movie trash and realized that they are not games
>Cohncarnage hates it
no he doesn't. He thought it was a good game, but has BIG issues that hopefully don't get carried forward for future FFs. 7R is more his speed.
>Final Fantasy DMC >one(1) weapon type which barely do any damage so, the game is just spam ability on cooldown
extremely limited movesets >can't even air juggle enemy >le epic eikon fight is just playable cutscene
Is this game so piss easy because japs saw how moronic gaming journos can be and lost all faith in gamers? I don't mean just the difficulty but stuff like "inventory increased" has to appear like 3 times and it feels like they want to make sure you notice whatever is happening because they might think gamers are morons. >NPC says: I'll increase the number of potions you carry >Clive says: it feels like I can fit more potions now in my bag >"Inventory increased" appears >Another "Inventory increased" appears >Tutorial-like window appears which explains that inventory has been increased and also provides numbers as comparison >Clive goes: Right, now I can carry more potions
Am I wrong to think that they treat their customers as a bunch of morons?
I am not even kidding, Yoshi P makes his games braindead for his audience AND also to appeal to the broadest audience possible
This is why he wanted to appeal to the GTA V and CoD audience and why he based his shitty story on the most popular show GoT and had the gameplay based on the most popular hack n slash DMC
This man unironically thought he was gonna be the next elden ring or BOTW and sell tens of millions from word of mouth and near perfect reviews. He truly thought he was making gamings next mona lisa so he appealed to everyone he could by making the game a braindead easy movie game but instead he got mid scores and his game flopped
i fricking hate yoshi p so much. Biggest hack in gaming
>I am not even kidding, Tabata makes his games braindead for his audience AND also to appeal to the broadest audience possible >This is why he wanted to appeal to the GTA V and CoD audience and why he based his shitty story on the most popular Marvel modies and had the gameplay based on the most popular fantasy sandbox Assassins' Creed >This man unironically thought he was gonna be the next Mass Effect or Skyrim and sell tens of millions from word of mouth and near perfect reviews. Biggest hack in gaming
You could have written this out and I would've agreed with you.
I don't begrudge Tabata since he directed Type-0 which had a really good world and story. Both Tabata and Nomura worked on FNC so if anyone was going to finish Versus XIII while Nomura was sent to the Kingdom Hearts mines it would have been Tabata. Versus XIII was gutted into XV after Tabata and Nomura sat down and decided it was too ambitious for the Crystal Tools but too difficult to port everything over to Luminous as they weren't given enough time to recreate Versus XIII. The entire rewrite isn't terrible all things considered, but the game was pushed out too early to meet deadlines. It could have been pretty good with another year of polish and balancing. Kingsglaive should have been like a free budget anime like Brotherhood too.
It's the curse of triple A. You see it also in other Sony games like God of War, Last Of Us, Horizon.
The more money gets put into a game, the fancier the graphics are, the more the publishers and moneyhatters feel they need to get their return on investment, so they want as many ppl as possible to be able to beat it and enjoy it.
yes. The GoW developers said they looked at a DSP playthrough and 'adjusted' Ragnarok to deal with this kind of gamer.
FFXVI 100% feels like a PS5 product. Streamlined, better writing and voice acting than is usual for a Final Fantasy game, an emphasis on cutting edge graphics and high production values, no expenses spared, at the cost of gameplay complexity and PS2-style level/world design. Ratchet & Clank: A Rift In Time is the exact same thing: PS5 graphics, PS2 gameplay.
I actually think Sony Interactive Entertainment was probably hands-on with this game and told them 'what works and what don't from their perspective on how high budget exclusive PS5 games should be.
They're obviously grooming Square Enix to be acquired. For SE to be willing to forgo PC sales for FF7 Rebirth, FF16 and FF9R is a heavy sacrifice, and it only makes sense if there is the promise of getting acquired down the line. Because they are gambling with the future of the franchise like this.
>A heavy sacrifice
There's no sacrifice, they know very well what the numbers will be on each platform and what is cheaper to do.
If Sony or Epic pays them and they accept, you can bet they are getting more money out of it than what they estimate from pc or steam.
You people overestimate how well games do on pc, specially these kind of games, it's getting 300-500 hundred compared to the 3 million on PS5 at best.
No they're leaving millions on the table not simultaneously releasing on PC.
It's why Souls games sell extra millions on PC. If you release it 6 months to a year later nobody will give a shit anymore, all the hype is gone.
Anonymous
Let's not make out of elden ring the norm.
Other souls games were not even making these numbers releasing on all platforms. DS3 shipped 3m in 2 months, Sekiro almost 4 in 3 months.
And that's with them being one of the most popular console games on pc.
If streamers are any indication of regular people, then yes it is quite grim. I've seen people literally fricking ignore the button guide during Titan Lost and try fighting him while never using brimstone offensively, never using fireballs when he is out of range, and never using heals because they still don't realize Ifrit can heal after Clive has control.
I like it a lot except Barnabas. He's the most boring antagonist I've ever seen.
"Obey God. Obey God. Obey God. I will hurt you if you do not obey God. Did I mention to obey God? Here's my femboy, by the way obey God"
"When it comes to watching new movies or playing new videogames, I implore people that are listeners, man please don't just fricking take anyone or especially don't take an online mob mentality's word for something. Especially content creators who are incentivized to shit on things and critics, if they are the major critics left in the games industry, they are all fricking burnt out. I know this, I know this for a fricking fact"
Maybe the game just isn't that good and people are voicing their opinions. Every forum outside of the fanboy ones like the subreddits brings up all the issues discussed in "Doomposter" threads.
I watched it on YouTube so I just skipped any fights that dragged for too long
>I like the story but I feel like I have to force myself through the gameplay.
I grew up with ffvii, viii, ix, x. 60 hour grand adventure with likeable cast required
none of those games are 60 hours unless you're clinically moronic.
VII is if you take your time to explore and do side content. VIII and IX have time sink minigames that will bring your save file up to 60 hours easily. X has blitzball and gridmaxing.

i didn't like xvi that much but this guy is an imbecile and the town made him stupid
This moron is the personification of the modern psued hack who thinks himself a writer and has made cynicism his personality. He's not the only one I see it a lot, modern cynicisms as a replacement for a personality.
xvi trannies malding
i literally said i didn't like the game you fricktard
But besides that it's pretty efficient and decent for a game and has the ideas very clear from the beginning to end of what it wants to be about and tell, which is almost rare nowadays.
xvitroon fuming
Well, at least XVI is making millions right now while XV put the brand on a shitty spot for 7 years, got Tabata fired, Luminous Studio closed and Square almost in bankruptcy after burning hundreds of millions in marketing and side content like a cgi movie and an anime that no one watched.
FFXV will always be Square Enix's dark history.
Even Conan o Brien shat on FFXV.
My favorite part was
>WHY WOULD SOMEONE PLAY THIS!!!
It was Forspoken that actually fricked them with his much they pumped into marketing, got Tabata fired, and got his studio shut down.
>legible
moron detected
I genuinely do not see how the story is any worse than that of the Witcher games, which he endlessly sucks off in 5 hour videos. were Matsuno's games better? yes, obviously. but XVI has by far the most intelligent writing Final Fantasy has had since like, VII.
He's a pretentious hack, what more do you need to know about him?
nothing, really.
Its the type of gamer that is just blind to western storytelling tropes and only makes it an issue when its japanese or weeb. Its just low key racism.
Gays are the fricking worst and ruin everything
moron
GO MY FOOTMEN, KILL THEM AND DISPOSE OF THEM
>ignores the sheer amount of bodies just thrown onto Geralt's sword for convenience

I honestly think the story is too well written for most gamers. (albeit not perfect of course) not to mention the cinematography is top notch. take the drawn out scene in the tavern where it follows the barmaid and switches to jote. the attention to detail is not found in most other games.
>too well written
>cinematography is top notch stop embarrassing yourself

Between this and Skillup's review and a lot of streamers finishing the game feeling ultimately disappointed, this game is proven to be yet another mediocre disappointment and hardly any better than 13 and 15. Square is literally incapable of making a decent mainline ever again and it's disheartening.
It's better than 13 and especially 15
But it's a disappointment. All they have to do with 17 is clone 7R with a decent original story. Don't know why this seems to be rocket science
Maybe people should give pisitive feedback for once and not years after a game is out.
Should have been more vocal about how good ff7r combat is
Remake's combat sucks though, especially the party system.
7R got reviewed at ~88, don't listen to the Ganker too much
>muh streamers
The same ones who dropped totk fast?
Reminder he got filtered by a fricking danganronpa puzzle
>wow, i can't believe teenagers act on emotion. i wouldn't have done that, these characters are unbelievable
game journos everyone
Pretty sure he himself has zero life experience and has never done anything in his life except be a nerd, play videogames and write his pulp novels. Kinda ironic for someone like that to be talking about what is 'realistic' for ppl to do.
I'm gonna be honest, I've had games I couldn't beat. I never beat Catherine or an XCOM game.
I never acted like a israelite and blamed it on the game, though.
I just accepted "frick, i'm not as smart as I think I am" and went back to ARPGs.
Obsessed and mind broken Barry.
Then don't play it? Why do you homosexuals make posts like this and can't work out what to do if you're not enjoying a game? Go and refund it, o-oh I see you're being disingenuous and trying to start a bait thread.
gb2reddit crybaby
It's a single player rpg with mmorpg generic assets. Map is so fricking flat. Models look generally bad. It just has such lack of detail compared to final fantasy vii remake.
try pausing the video and play the game on a PS5 instead
BTFO
underrated
the only time the game is decent is during eikon fights and those don't happen nearly enough between the boring shit that is the rest of the game
I dropped it in the desert area. Such a boring chore of a game. Leave MMO devs on MMOs.
I enjoyed it.
Didn't think it was near the best in the series but is definitely leaps and bounds better than FF15.
It's kind of a middle of the road FF game which is far from a bad thing.
There's too much blatant dicksucking/irrational hatred out here though.
>leaps and bounds better than FF15
Now so?
15 at least had a party, and actual exploration.
>had a party
So does 16, in both you can't control other members for anything other than one or two moves, which is lame for both.
FFXV has a garbage world, broken combat, a story that is pieced together by 3 different types of media, and a shitty AAA open world
FFXVI has a ton of flaws too but pretty much any other FF game mogs XV.
Unfinished garbage with
XV added party control with full movesets later. You just switch back to Noctis at the end of a fight.
16 has no party, no world, nothing to do and a more unfinished story than base xv
>op isnt praising FFXVI
>BARRRYYYYYYYYY
im waiting for someone to go "its not barry its Tendies"
OP here. I just fell asleep during the cutscene after the Sleipnir boss fight. I'm done with this game.
Don't tell me you got filtered, mewthoss.
it only gets worse
everyone overrated the frick out of the odin fight
the only time odin pops up is for a cinematic qte
rest of the time you're just fighting semi-primed barnabas who is piss easy to parry and dodge and people comparing him it to vergil should neck themselves
Is the game that bad? I loved the demo but I’m hearing mixed opinions on the full game.
The game has flaws but overall it’s legitimately the best single player FF since XII. I strongly recommend it, especially if you like action games. If you don’t, you probably won’t enjoy the game as much. If you’re a fan of the Matsuno games or FFXIV the story will probably be enjoyable enough to stick it through to the end.
>best single player FF since XII
It's not an accomplishment. 12,13,15 are garbage.
>especially if you like action games
the gameplay is moron-proof garbage, though. I like action games, and this one barely qualified as such.
also this shit was way worse than XV, and XV didn't have an ending to its story
XVI is pretty bad but defending XV is akin to abusing a pet or the elderly
What happened? it seems honeymoon period didn't even last 2 weeks.
It was the opposite for me, I was completely engrossed and used a vacation day to keep playing more.
Story and gameplay were pretty based. There are pacing and side quest structure issues, but over all the story and moment to moment gameplay were the high points.
The story is terrible and gameplay shit
I enjoyed it a lot and beat it a few days ago, I’m wait a bit before I do ng+
I played it for about 15 hours and hated it
But thankfully I am friends with the manager at the local gamestop so he let me return it for a full refund
I turned around and used that money to buy a copy of bravely default for 3ds and now I'm having a great time with that so it all worked out in the end
Never mind horrible bait thread, see you guys later
>opinions i dont like? Must be a bait thread
I swead i only see this shit in FFXIV, FFXV and FFXVI threads.
people bought PS5s just to play this so the buyer's remorse is real
It's definitely the worst financial decision I've made in a couple years...
>S-summer
Believe what you want i guess, at least its more original than screaming Barry.
Welcome summergay! Here too inform you but that is this entire website
I like the music, the v/o, and the gameplay can be fun is spurts
I dont care about the story and any character other than Cid who just died.
Everything feels closterphobic but it looks pretty
>but it looks pretty
it's too bad the environments are beyond bland
The game is fun when it's lets me play it. The boss battles are "epic" and that's clearly what they were going for there, they're okay, but it's such a slog just playing FFXIV while also not. The MMO style format of accepting quests from the guy you just found from the last guy you just found is boring. Fetch quests break the flow of the game every single chapter. Besides 5 minute hunts the game is on absolute rails.
It's a decent little spectacle but it was a let down as a game.
It gets good after 20 hours, for real
The first segment of the game where you okay as Clive, Joshua, and then meet Cid are the best parts of the game when it comes to gameplay and story. Moment Cid dies it turns to trash mobs and fetch quests until lame boss fight (non Eikon battles). You slog until Titan, slog until Bahamjt. Straight to Odin, tons of cutscenes then Ultima.
So now that the dust has settled, why did it fail?
worse than xiv in every way
MMO devs = MMO quality = Do not Play
Always refer to this equation when considering XVI or other games involving MMO devs.
I wish combat was more like kingdom hearts. I don't care much for this.
For those who like this game: What FF should I try if I liked it?
For those who hate this game: What FF should I play instead?
Pick one that looks interesting to you
What was it about XVI that you liked? Will be easier to make a recommendation that way.
Pretty much everything aside from the pacing issues.
FF7 probably.
the rest are turn-based, you won't like them
I like turn based games and action games. Crazy, I know.
>What FF should I play instead?
FF7R, FFX, FF8 and FF Strangers of Paradise
If you like the sort of MMO-esque dogshit side quests but you would like to play a FF that is MMO like but actually good then play FF12.
FF12 is just FFXVI but with boring gameplay to go along with the boring ass story
frick off we are full
I didn't really like the story.
I liked the gameplay when they actually let me play it even though a lot of the fun things you can do aren't ever used in any real scenario. You can do some sick combo's in this game but only against trash enemies that die to things instantly anyway. The combo's you can do to actual bosses is extremely limited and you are better off just cycling cd's and playing defensively.
>game is too easy so i don't use potions etc
>die to a boss ONCE because the fight is new and i need to learn the mechanics
>restart with full potions and boss checkpoints
>people defend this dumbass mechanic because muh casuals and story driven game or that it isn't dank souls, saying it like they invented difficulty
first god of slop and now ff16 copying this garbage. i am trying to like the game but it's the only thing that's not making it ez on me
I've just been saving before moving into the boss room. It's clunky and genuinely moronic that you have to go that far just to restart a boss fight, but it works.
lmao
xvi gays keep losing
I really don't get the appeal of the game. The phoenix ifrit fight in the demo is just five minutes of moving a circle reticule around the screen while animations play in the background with or without your input. People claimed it was so good that it made them buy the full game but for me it's the main reason why I didn't.
You people claiming the game is good are all lying to get replies, right?
Here’s my biggest problem
>cool shit can only be done on mooks with no stagger
>they die too fast to be worth using resources for anyway
>cool down timer means if you use your skills to stagger quicker, you can’t use them during the stagger period
>combat then devolves into stagger using as little abilities as possible and then spamming all abilities during stagger and repeat
>essentially, one eikon to stagger, one eikon to drive up multiplier, one eikon to dps
>every encounter plays like this
So it does start to get samey.
You didn't watch the video, he's making fun of you morons who say ffxvi is not a real ff game.
>he watched the video
Why post the video as a "dunk" and not watch it first? Are you moronic
i just used the thumbnail as bait as did the moron who made the video
Yeah you fell for it you moron kek.
at least i didn't watch some mmogay's video
No, you just got baited by an "mmogay" instead.
you don't have to
his channel is filled with clickbait shit just to say the opposite on the vid
Kek
this guy tries way too hard now
https://clips.twitch.tv/DiligentKathishAppleSpicyBoy-_BgjlutebjTSESIO
Is he just copying Dunkey?
>I like the story but I feel like I have to force myself through the gameplay.
Just like XIV, bravo Yoshitpiss.
nah its kino and game of the year for me
I was really hoping all the shitposters moved on to baldurs gate already. Oh well
Baldur's Gate is a better game than XVI though.
So why are you posting in a ffxvi thread and not in the baldur's gate thread?
>You just want to play as jill you troonygay
nice projection
i just wanted good characters like cid and gav as permanent companions - jill is beyond bland
jesus christ this looks terrible. That's some bamham level of snapping towards the enemy when you attack
That's a fricking ability, not what the game does on its own.
In every webm of ff16, it's so dark you can hardly see any thing, what a garbage game engine
You can simply press square to basic attack, or you can learn.
the REAL bossfights are exciting and fun but have to swim through a sea of punching bags and empty places or cinematics to get there
what is there to git gud at? the dodging and parrying are extremely generous, the combinations of eikon abilities are extremely limited, and like you said, there's no variation or skill involved with the combat inputs
also there are only like 5 enemy types, none of which have interesting mechanics or challenge to them
it's like saying being a gas station attendant is fun if you get good at it.
I get the feel there were more tracks in 15 than here
>reddit spacing
go back, trannie
Blinding Steel is such a great looking skill.
I liked it too cuz of the dmc3 parallels
Barnabas fight was based and I was genuinely shocked to see how many people disliked it. It’s great in both gameplay and the themes of the story at that point.
It's a good fight, people misunderstood it was meant as the gameplay fight rather than spectacle, Barnabus wants to fight you as he is not as his Eikon. He was Zenos 2.0
Yeah people were still on a high after the Bahamut spectacle. Also the game presented Odin as a damn tour de force when he's primed. So that's why people were expecting that kind of fight.
I get it. That's understandable. But if we follow story-wise what Barnabas wanted it was not going to happen that way.
dont care. its dumb. could have had both. should have had both
Kek, another homosexual who got filtered.
>slop enjoyer feels threatened
many such cases
>It was the one and only true 1 v 1 duel in the game
Benedikta?
Hugo?
Sleipner?
>Very reminiscent of DMC3 with the tower and stuff
>it's good because it reminds me of another game
smoothbrain take
>I understand people baffled why there was no Eikon vs Eikon fight, but it was kind of obvious it was not going to happen because Barnabas wanted an actual duel and he also was planning to lose anyway.
I liked it a lot.
i was itching for an eikon battle because the last one was bahamut which was ages ago. then you only get an ifrit risen fight with ultima at the end of the game.
i wish leviathan was not cut. during the ship battle to rescue jill, while i had already given up hope he was going to make an appearance, i thought it would be a good opportunity for a leviathan fight
>anytime an eikon shows up on screen
Amazing
>being forced to do MMO tier quests for lame slaves
Zzzzzz….
Like the gameplay find the story moronic.
Since Square is going down the remake rabbit hole, how about a remake of 14 as a solo game with 16 combat ?
Imagine this game with a proper budget and gameplay that's actually fun.
14 is fun
t. controller monk
SE won't do it. CBUIII is prepping for that though. It's pretty obvious when you see how they are remaking old dungeons with trusts allies. But I don't see SE wanting to do it. They consider XIV the game that makes money so that they can make other games. They need it to churn money.
It's opposite for me
it's the only ff i've enjoyed since like ps2
its not barry, its tendies
I saw some people playing at story mode, and they are still getting game overs. Moreso in action mode. Not journalists.
countdown til yoshi p is fired kek
he'll never get tabata'd
>famous last words
kek
>moron
lul
yeah. i beat it and it was not fun. eikon battles were great but thats like 5% of the game and i really cannot earnestly say i enjoyed a game if only 5% of the time it was truly great.
starts fantastic, teeters off when cid is introduced, goes off a fricking cliff when cid dies, and then once you kill bahamut it never recovers. almost everything fell flat for me, the gameplay was really fricking shit, enemies simultaneously have too low of ttk and too high of ttk, some will die before you even get a combo off and some will take fricking minutes to kill doing the exact same actions over and over because combat is just designed poorly.
story really was great at first, super interesting then it really does just nosedive with the ultima shit. i dont mind fighting god but i think this game wouldve been better if we got a situation where we see someones rise to godhood, like if barnabas was a key player and we actually saw him and ultima cooperating so he could rise in power. just something like that, that makes the god tie into the "political" stuff more.
i was really interested in clives mother betraying her kingdom and essentially performing a coup and then thats just completely dropped for 15 hours until they bring her back and try to make her sympathetic. thats what i felt like they were trying to do anyway. as if the moment she kills herself was supposed to make the player go "wow. that sucks".
most the interesting stuff is fumbled for ultima, who is backloaded and feels so fricking forced. he felt like a committee decision to have a god in this game.
i enjoyed 13 more than 16 honestly
>until they bring her back and try to make her sympathetic
>Damn near everyone I've talked to in these threads were hoping she suffered more, she was absolutely not sympathetic
i agree because they didnt make her sympathetic. they tried to, and it didnt work. she shouldve had more screentime and shouldve just been the actual main villain, cutting the ultima wankery
>I actually liked characters in 16
like who? jill is a non character who is a walking plot device, there to be captured three times (twice was pushing it), gav is one dimensional and mid was annoying every time she was on screen.
i liked clives uncle and cid, but cid fricking dies halfway through and clives uncle wasnt given nearly enough screentime
>and then joshua tries to take her with him (presumably to the hideout) despite the fact she got his father killed right in front of him.
Did you somehow miss the entirety of Joshua's characterization post-timeskip or are you just a moron
i dont believe in any characterization that would allow joshua to forgive his mother for selling his brother who he loved into slavery and getting his fricking father beheaded in front of him at the age of 12, sorry.
>why does the moronicly noble and duty-bound brother act moronicly noble and duty-bound
lol
lmao
what duty is joshua accomplishing by saving his mother he hasnt seen or even talked to for 18 years?
That she was a dumb b***h who was just a part of a far larger scheme.
And funnily enough gave birth to two technical vessels for god and killed herself without knowing.
because maybe matricide is bad, despite how evil your mother might be? maybe killing is bad? maybe Joshua has a soft spot for her because he actually got doted on as a kid? because there's a ton of people out there who were utterly and completely abused by their parents but still love them?
Dion literally appears at the end of the game and is barely a character. You barely get words out of his NPC
>Dion
hes cool but he really needed more screentime. i couldnt really care about his boyfriend
>maybe Joshua has a soft spot for her because he actually got doted on as a kid
joshua seemed to explicitly hate her dude. we see him clenching his fists around her all the time because he doesnt like her.
>I know that everyone loves their revenge porn but you either want the characters to have complex emotions or you don't.
no, i wanted a good script. i dont think this confrontation shouldve happened at all with how the script is now. she either needed to be fully evil and an actual villain or not at all. instead its wishy-washy.
a compromise wouldve just been for them to tell her to frick off and not kill her. trying to help her just felt relatively unrealistic. i didnt want her to die, i just wanted her to actually do something in the story, and ultimas kid vessel really did not count for me.
none of what you said counters my post. the point still stands, you either want complex emotions or you don't. she is still his mother, he's still a duty-bound moron who continually tries to do the right thing even if it is at a detriment to himself. it makes perfect sense, and you are a moron if you think otherwise.
>you either want complex emotions or you don't.
except there arent complex emotions in that moment at all. its not written well. you continue to say that hes "duty bound" but joshua is a literal non character who does one singular thing that would count as "duty bound" and its the act of sealing ultima inside him, and that wasnt "duty bound". that was out of the pure love of his brother. he doesnt harbor that love for his mother, so its unbelivable he would immediately try to help her upon seeing her for the first time in 18 years.
>except there arent complex emotions in that moment at all. its not written well.
>As you continue to say, as you continue to provide no argument beyond "nuh-uh" and "it isn't what I wanted".
yup saying "you dont want complex emotions" is vastly different huh
>Okay so you either didn't play the game, or you have no media literacy to speak of. Choose one?
>non elaboration
good one dog
>Says who?
literally the example i gave where they showcase he does not like her.
>It's still his fricking mom, a fact that, again, you have failed to refute.
and? do you genuinely believe that every child loves their parent with every part of their being? its not a "complex emotional" moment, its actually depicted extremely black and white with how joshua immediately tries to help her.
you cannot use the argument "hes duty bound" and then immediately say "its a moment with complex emotions" because these are literally contradictory statements. the notion that joshua is strictly following his duties is one that implies joshua is acting out of pure good. using the media literacy card and failing to realize this is ironic
>she did really love Joshua
SHE loved joshua. the game shows that joshua did not care for her. what part of this is hard to understand for you?
>You act like he strained himself or something, he literally just reached out his hand.
he immediately tried to help her. got it.
>yeah that one scene from when he's 8 years old defines his entire relationship with his mother
Yup you are actually a moron, glad we could get that done and over with
you are truly a fricking midwit if you think details the game SPECIFICALLY SHOWS YOU does not matter in the long run. why the frick do you think they would highlight this scene? its to show the player that joshua doesnt like her.
youre free to post a scene that shows he does that isnt the scene we are talking about, but you wont be able to find one. because this is how they showed joshuas relationship with his mother. he puts up a front that he likes her and behind his back he shows he does not. this is what this shot means.
's no complex emotions in doing an impersonal duty that conflicts with your personal feelings
oh? so joshua doesnt like her now?
the argument is that joshua not only likes his mother, but that hes duty bound to protect her (whatever the frick that means).
its either a scene with complex emotions because joshua does not like her but hes still trying to protect her, or he does like her, so him being duty bounded means literally fricking nothing. which is it
he clinches his fist after she kills herself too, I guess that means that he really hated her and all of that trying to save her was performative......oh wait
you're both emotionally inept morons
>oh? so joshua doesnt like her now?
How ironic you have the nerve to start complaining about "non-characters" and "black and white" when one of the most readily portrayed greys in the game is completely fricking lost on your slug brain.
>you cannot use the argument "hes duty bound" and then immediately say "its a moment with complex emotions" because these are literally contradictory statements.
's no complex emotions in doing an impersonal duty that conflicts with your personal feelings
>game is peddled as super serious, like GoT and definitely really well written and intelligent guise!
>actually, it's just the same old kill god plus ridiculous cheezy anime tropes
its a matsuno/maehiro game then with asura's wrath sprinkled in? sounds kino.
I thought people hated the GoT aspect of it so isn't this a good thing?
Gameplay wise I feel kind of the same for alot of parts especially the trash mob encounters. And the entire reason is because it's too easy. Even the boss fights just feel like a speed bump as a result.
I tried ultimaniac garuda and the gameplay felt way more fun because I was actually taking alot of damage from any hit, and every mechanic really mattered. Even the Eikon fight got better because she stayed alive to do mechanics.
They were deathly afraid of the 'core' audience not liking action so they limited the actual gameplay mode (ultimania) behind basically 2 playthroughs.
It's because of the FFXIV audience Yoshida is used to dealing with. They have a visceral hatred for any kind of difficulty or mechanical depth.
>be me
>ultima
>my people discover magic
>used it so much that it literally killed our planet
>somehow evolve into aether beings
>travel to another planet
>find a continent with the most aether
>split myself into 16 beings
>collectively create life via aether
>8 of us turn into aether engines that suck up the surrounding lands aether
>the other 8 turn into a magical virus that transforms its host into a giant magical beast that can destroy cities
>these 8 are meant as literal food for my big project: Mythos, the ultimate physical lifeform
>genetically engineer humans
>collectively influence humanity's culture and politics to breed the ultimate lifeform with specifically no will-power
>wouldnt want silly will-power to ruin my plans
>live in harmony with my creations for centuries
>after awhile, some of them get uppity
>they try to take control of one of me (a mothercrystal)
>nuke them, the city, and myself
>influence humanity further so they fall into a dark age and enslave magic users
>go to sleep for 1000 years
>wake up when the ultimate lifeform is 15 years old
>take over his body
>make him kill his own brother
>discover this ultimate lifeform has a will of its own
>mfw
why is leviathan such a gaping plothole in ultima's plan? really makes him and/or the writers look foolish
stupid furry
"Letting off Steam" was so fricking boring it took me a week and a half to get through it cuz I couldn't play for more than 30 seconds without getting distracted. This game straight up should not have been an RPG. Jack's game was more fateful translation of FF mechanics into an action RPG than this was
SoP was pure bliss.
As a FF fan, gameplay and story wise.
Why do devs insist on making games with pacing this shitty? It's possible to make cinematic story-driven games without repetitive back-to-back cutscenes. Why even give the player back control if it's just going to be for less than thirty seconds?
valid question. this game would be an 11/10 if it had FF mode from the start and maybe half the dialogue removed
>God I can’t wait for Rebirth.
Why would you be excited for Rebirth when Remake had all of XVI's issues, sometimes tenfold? On top of knowing you are going to be getting some moronic Nojima story that never actually resolves itself with unrealistic to outright annoying characters?
>Why would you be excited for Rebirth
Rebirth is gonna be every 16 should have been.
>less cutscenes less shitty side quests to slow the pacing and better music.
bahahaha
>better combat,
abahhahahahahhahaha
>better base difficulty,
bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
>The game has real itemization,
BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
what made VIIBlack folk so delusional?
>Makes no argument whatsoever.
Yoshida cultists have completely lost it kek.
I don't argue with unironic troonyposting wienersuckers, sorry
>Starts randomly screeching about trannies because he's too low IQ to formulate his opinions.
KWAB.
bump
XVI flopped and 7.0 will be complete garbage written by a failed theater writer. Yoshitpiss cult lost.
>XVI flopped
>so popular it's getting a stage play next year
At the very least it performed slightly above expectations
7R flopped and Rebirth will be complete garbage written by an autistic 55 year old virgin.
Can FFXIV fans finally now just admit that Ishikawa is a fricking hack who had one half-way decent story up her sleeve?
This was written by Maehiro though who literally left to work on this after Heavensward.
the story is shit. boring, stupid, derivative and soulless shit.
the gameplay is braindead, flashy garbage with no depth at all
there are less than 15 enemy types in the entire game, and almost all of them function in one of 3 different ways
there is literally nothing to do outside walking directly to specified places and killing things.
the sidequests are beyond worthless; literally theme park MMO "go here, talk to person(s), pick up objects, kill trash mobs"
It's so fricking boring. Really bummed about the state of FF.
I pity the mouth breathers who spent 70 buckaroos on this piece of shit
I really want Baldur's Gate 3 to come out already so I can get this bad taste of FF16 out of my mouth. Thank frick it was pushed to August 3rd for release. Sometimes God is merciful.
Bear will frick you and you will never be woman
My character in BG 3 will actually get to go home and frick the prom queen though. And the EA is already miles ahead in terms of writing than the entirety of FF16.
troony projection
I want a bear to frick me so bad, you have no idea
Why did he have to be named clive?
because it sounds like Cloud but works in the game's boring Game of Thrones wannabe world
also the japs think in ways that would lead to them seeing the name "Clive" and being like "ohhhh, yoshi-p san, boku no main-character wantsu to "live" on his own terms, so we should call him cLIVE"
whats with the sudden bait posting?
Entering SEA hours
Americans can't handle truth. Or banter

Why did virtually every streamer who hyped the game quit before even finishing it?
because the prologue was the only good part of the game. I suspect they spent too much time and money making it excellent, then needed to rush development through approximately the entire rest of the game.
>giving a shit about streamers and e celebs
I'll bite anyway. Maybe it's because the game is actually...*GASP* shit?
this game is not good for streaming because data compression of YouTube removes a lot of details in pic . This is why the game looks so bland on YouTube.
Yeah, that's THE reason. Obviously. Game is not boring at all.
adhd brains
attention span of a tiktok video
cannot handle a long jrpg
ff16 is not a jrpg. there is not a single rpg element in the entire game, and there's not joy or weird nip fun that would add the j
>ff16 is not a jrpg. there is not a single rpg element in the entire game, and there's not joy or weird nip fun that would add the j
Source? I encountered many rpg and jrpg elements in my playthroughs. Did you actually play the game? It's not anime if that's what you mean...
name one rpg element.
name one jrpg element besides shallow, detached aesthetic references
>hasn't touched it since launch
hmmm
But this man has finished.
who cares
He literally said TODAY that he is still playing and preping a video lmao
Didn't Witcher 3 also have a huge problem of its players just not finishing the game?
because longform singleplayer games /=/ views
Too much dialogue and japanese racism against weeb/kid shit.
Too much dialogue and cutscenes makes it unengaging and the ameritards that follow streams are still on phase of japanese games being for kids and nu males even with how popular anime is nowadays. All of this kills views.
They rather watch streaming slop like minecraft, or only up.
>get to a battle
>bitrate on streaming sites is so bad everything turns into a pixelated mess because of the particle effects
every streamer/youtuber i follow that hyped this shit is still playing or already finished.
try finding better cope next time
Every big/relevant streamer right now is talking about bear sex. Funny how this is all it took to destroy the audience for FF16
cringe won't sell your game, shill
PC gaming market is in bear market.
>"very big/relevant streamer right now is talking about bear sex"
>literally nobody gives a frick besides like moistcritical who made video laughing at this shit and the game he won't even touch
whatever helps you cope i guess
Meanwhile it boosted the game's sales on steam.
No waY!
A big game trailer boosted game's sales, how is that possible?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Is this how marketing works?
It wasn't in any game trailer, it was in a stream. lol
It's mid as frick and is gonna get memoryholed faster than hogwarts legacy
I'm not going to be able to forget that Titan, Bahamut, and Ultima fight for a while.
And the particular joy of Lightning Rod + Level 5 Zantetsukening things to death
Its ok, playing through it myself, I just went back to The Phoenix Gate, beat 'Shadow Clive' and unlocked Ifrit and Limit Break the enemies are a bit health spongy and I wish the ability cooldowns were just a bit more generous (less of an issue when you can equip three Eikons) but its not too bad.
Clive's mom is an absolute b***h though what the frick.
>2nd spoiler
She's even worse than you think when she goes and ruins ANOTHER family.
clive's mom gets literally 0 development. i thought they were doing a Bene Gesserit thing with her when she spares Clive's life, but no. she's just a shallow, evil, moronic b***h
Was kind of hoping Clive would would go full matricide and kill her himself. But no, can't have truly evil women in this game. No sir.
>she's just a shallow, evil, moronic b***h
I mean she might be evil and shallow but she isn't moronic
she is objectively moronic, as the writing of her character is moronic. all the machination and manipulation she's supposed to do is done off screen, ultima is her child, and she kills her self cus she goes craaaaaazy
She must have thought she was in a complete nightmare.
you've described a shallow, 2 dimensional character with moronic writing that needs head canon to provide any actual depth. thank you for proving my point.
>hurr durr implication is headcanon
you must hate actual writing
>ff16 is what I consider actual writing
begone, moron
>headcanon to provide depth
What about this is headcanon though?
>The son she spurned is the world's most notorious outlaw and is a dominant too
>The son she grieved for the one she wanted to come out alive at the Phoenix Gate incident is actually alive
>The empire I wanted to gift my third son is in shambles
>My third son just dissipates into thin air
Are all emotions she expressly showcases in that scene
google search "2 dimensional character vs 3 dimensional character"
also the head canon bit was me misreading one of that dude's points
>also the head canon bit was me misreading one of that dude's points
That's all I wanted to address.
I have no issue admitting the plot's quality dips after the game decides the shelf any notion of political intrigue and go about with the usual JRPG fanfare of killing god.
>the political focus fades out when every leader/dominant/crystal is dead besides the one nation that worships the antagonist
how could this possibly happen?
Frick off, as if you aren't the kind of person that would b***h about if they give her a redemption arc because what else could you do with her.
Or that would b***h about how the game is trying to make you pity her by going further in and showing you how toxic her upbringing was, how her family and her people expected something of her that didn't come into fruition, and how it ate her from the inside and made her suffer that she failed to do the only thing she was expected to do with a first son that didn't get the phoenix who people used to laugh at you about him being another's woman son, and how the son that gets the phoenix is a sickly weakling.
bad writing is bad writing.
good writing is good writing.
ff16 has bad writing.
XVI is very well written. Annabelle's comeuppance is great, kills herself after being haunted by the ghosts of the past she burned to build a future that just turned to sand.
xvi is poorly written, sloppy trash
you having goy-taste is ok
I think there was a subtle shift in her character.
At the start of the game she was obsessed titles and dominants. Social order and all that.
But we see her changed in that scene with Dion. He's the dominant of bahamut. Prince of Oriflamme. Leader of the dragoons. The spoony bards write songs about him.
But his name is mud to her.
>her treating Dion, literally not her son, the same way as she treated Clive, who she refused to view as her son, is a shift in her character
Yes, she's a hypocrite if she doesn't know her own place in the world.
She has everything, but claims she has nothing.
She hates Dion because she wants her son to inherit the throne, not him
Yeah this was the point where everything really clicked for me. The next couple story arcs with Jill and Titan are fricking great.
:'(
shit song
this one should've played longer
Funny how they desperately tried to reach the Japanese FF audience, but the comments are all just fans of Kenichi himself. And the female in this music video is more attractive than Jill.
Song for the American audience but there isn't much of an audience for this game.
XVI has made me wonder how many tracks in XIV Soken is responsible for and how many are credited to him just because they sample a melody he made
>the only emotional moments in the game are characters talking about how Cid died
>for the entire second half of the game
>dozens upon dozens of moments where characters talk about how sad they are that Cid is dead
>no other moments of successfully crafted emotional nuance exist (besides when Clive meets his uncle) in a 30-90 hour game
there's no way they didn't give up on 90% of their narrative and game-design plans after the prologue. this shit story was bafflingly shallow and lazy
I liked Clive and Joshua reuniting
i thought that scene was an abject failure. they fumbled joshua's return and relationship with clive harder than anything else in the game
let me guess, you are the edgelord guy who thought Joshua will be evil and they will fight because Joshua went super evil villain and not teary reunion and brotherhood till the end
no. not at all.
let me guess, you are an emotionally stunted zoomer moron who can't process or evaluate actual emotion
I certainly felt more for the two than I ever did for Lightning and Sera, not that it was that difficult but what did you dislike about it? Could have used a bit more Edgar and Sabin energy though.
>lightning and sera
>edgar and sabin
literally who and who and who and who
I disliked it because the writing was stilted, awkward garbage and the performances were the same breathy, boosted whispering they'd been the whole game. it was a moment that required genuine sense of space within the narrative, feeling and emotion, but like the rest of the post-prologue game felt like AI-directed plot occurring on screen without any intention besides moving to the next plot-point
>Lightning and Sera
The sibling characters from 13
>Edgar and Sabin
The sibling characters from 6
I played the game in Japanese and it's dialogue is markedly different but I'll have to go see the scene again.
Clive reuniting with Ambrosia hurt me emotionally.
its supposed to be emotional healing, moron
I too was hurt by the fact that the loyal chocobo character was relegated to an idiotic side-quest and never mentioned again
That really should’ve been a main quest.
In a good or bad way?
Meeting back up with anyone from Rosaria was a satisfying moment for me. I was really afraid Sir Wade was going to die like Murdoch's wife.
yeah it really sucks i cant pause and flip through menus. this series use to be comfy, wtf happened?
>Jote is the only character in the game that feels real and nuanced
>receives less than 20 minutes of screen-time and has no on-screen narrative importance
i really wonder how much the vision was compromised early in development.
Fricking Joshua went and hugged Dion instead of Jote when Clive went and hugged Jill.
>gets btfo'd
>outs himself as a moron jotehomosexual and stops replying to posts
>is an anime avatar moron-schizo
>will continue to be an anime avatar moron-schizo for the rest of their life
>I have to force myself through the gameplay.
anyone saying this isn't that deep in the game.
I have the feeling this is another case of a game being hated until it comes to pc
Waiting for the pc version to play it btw
Also no one has ever praised a ff story in this board so....
it's a game made for pretentious midwit homosexuals who enjoy trash like Attack on Titan.
1000%. I'm already prepared for the countless "Ganker lied to me bros" threads whenever the pc port drops.
>I'm already prepared for the countless "Ganker lied to me bros"
kek, I can already see it
"anon" just means "shortly".
It's a pointless scene that probably had a greater significance in an earlier draft.
The game is full of moments like this.
As long as whatever improvements they add to the PC version are added to the console version for free without needed a paid "upgrade" like XV
Do you remember Frollo's obsession with Esmeralda? This board is frollo and ff is the Esmeralda, ff is shit and should die but please come to switch I would have treated you much better
Hell you can see tons of APOLOGIZE with ff13 and 15, and there is a fresh one with 12. ALL those ffs were insulted and any positive comment was drowned with SHILL.
The same will happen with FF17, you will see tons of APOLOGIZE with ff16 and positive comments will be allowed. Even ff7r is being defended by the same schizo who hated it now
Its the only small window when you can make positive ff threads, when a new one released. But before that?
>ff was never good
>ff is overrated
>ff is for trannies *insert some random troony from twitter here*
Pretty much
t. Someone who was curious about death stranding and waiting for the pc version
Tendies are mentally ill. Search for DANGANAUTIST and you had a barry there, raincode is switch "exclusive" so he allows it
idk this game kinda kicks ass
I give spectacle games a lot of shit because they rightfully just don't feel fricking cool enough to make a game about.
For all of FFXVI's flaws, I think it fricking nailed the spectacle they wanted and that's a legitimate accomplishment. Japan once again showing how it's done.
It has the energy that makes me go "frick i love videogames" that I don't feel too often these days.
>most of the time Clive is depicted as just a groundedish protag until he becomes Ifrit for an Eikon battle or at the end of the game
go back to r/gaming, please
Can't go back to a place I never visited.
getting flashbacks to those ketamine-cringe poster cyberpunk 2077 screenshot threads
I laughed at Cyberpunk 2077.
My brother was fully on board the hype train and I watched the light leave his eyes in real-time the week he played and finished it. He killed Adam Smasher in the middle of his boss speech.
I just thought the trailers were selling a neon-flavored Human Revolution but it wasn't even that close to it.
I fully acknowledge FFXVI's flaws, but I still enjoyed its camp and its unapologetic videogamey-ness that the west despises
>n-igger still losing his fricking mind on every post
love to see it
just finished this recently, does anyone remember reading a book/item description at some point in the game talking about a cult that believed in revival/immortality but failed to achieve it? i checked the atl entries at harpocrates and couldnt find it there, super interested cause it has potential implications for the ending
The Circle of Malius or the people before that?
no, defs not the circle of malius, at least I don't think so. it was vague about what group it was but I know its not mentioned in harpocartes books as ive checked all those. ff16 seems to have a lot of untouched lore like this outside the books, for instance another secretive group that tried to replicate magic without the requirement of aether that was banished from the twins is mentioned in the undying hq
I definitely need to catch up on all the lore since the last 2-3 days of my playthrough were cleaning up sidequests.
yeah some of the lore is pretty interesting. you definitely need to read them to understand what exactly the fallen were as well as what the sins of dzemekys and all that stuff was about. the way its explained is pretty convoluted so you have to create a mental timeline in your head though
I appreciate the lore archives with Harpocrates and the literal Character Web and Timeline with Vivian.
I like the character web and stuff with Vivian, but it seems kind of overkill. The plot that occurs within the scope of the game isn't that complicated outside of a couple of characters. The history of the world with Harpocrates is great though. There's some excellent stuff on those flash cards.
The plot is definitely nowhere near as convoluted to warrant such a detailed timeline but I appreciated the effort.
I read that it was necessary for the developers because the scenario kept changing.
yeah okay
Where? That's pretty interesting. They changed the order of events around I suppose? Might explain why the 5 year time jump after the first Hideaway falls doesn't feel like 5 years, more like 1 year at best.
It shows. Cid says they're going to Lostwing. But going through the forest he's talking about going to the capital.
>The villagers are in the church
>It's actually the bearers in the cutscene
>The bearers are in the chapel in Caer Norvent.
>Or are they villagers?
>Frick. Ok. "People" were captured. Doesn't matter, we don't actually see them.
>They weren't in the cells. A sentry is missing.
>Jote created a distraction while Joshua created a distraction while everyone was already distracted with Clive.
>Why did they take the fort again?
>Why does Benedikta's 2nd in command have Lore entry?
Benedikta took the Fort because Barnabas told her to do so, it was part of his/Ultima's plan to test Mythos and feed Garuda to him.
The imperials don't know the royalist took caer norvent, and Joshua burned the bodies.
Why would the Imperials need to know? Clive has deserted and killed his commanding officer
You mean why do they need to NOT know?
i wonder if the vivan stuff (and ATL generally) wasn't partially just them experimenting for ff14. that game is so fricking long now and has so many characters that it'd probably really help. especially if they plan on doing a new-players-can-start-at-this-expansion thing at some point.
As a fujostacy I like Dion getting some love.
>Boss fights are good despite the QTEs
>S-Rank hunt board fights are good
nah
You haven't played it
i killed all the s-ranks, which were just copy-pastes of mini bosses
the boss fights were braindead easy, repetitive, and devoid of the emotional weight that a quality narrative would provide
unless you like the references to old anime, tokusatsu and kaiju films (which is literally all the spectacle featured in the game) there's nothing to engage with
>unless you like the references to old anime, tokusatsu and kaiju films (which is literally all the spectacle featured in the game) there's nothing to engage with
Not him but that definitely describes me.
No matter what it's a letdown after 7R.
>read and dodge and use your cooldowns efficiently
so you're an mmo player, got it.
>a letdown after 7R
7R was equally trashy
>read
>dodge
>mmo
you tried.
I LOVE GAY MEN
Game would be decent if hard mode were avail. from the start. It's a push X to win game 99% of the time. Massive frickup.
You might need to actually use consumables, that's about it
The least ambitious Final Fantasy...
Clive's little Persona 4 moment was more entertaining to me than probably the entirety of 13 except maybe that one cutscene with massive budget.
Name a better duo
literally 2 homeless people shooting heroin into each other's arms on the streets of portland
Jill's combat poses are so sassy
the game was alright, best part was during the geruda fight where the main character hacks off its fingers then walks up and just stabs it right in the fricking face. man that part was awesome.
trash game
no idea why they greenlit such a soulless and boring narrative
gameplay is fun for a few hours but the loop is sooooo braindead
Will FFXVII with Ishikawa writing the story and characters and copying and tweaking 7R combat save the franchise or is AAA mainline FF a pointless endeavor after XVI?
7R already saved the franchise but your plan would salvage the mainline
It's brilliant actually.
sop+ff16 combat would be peak for 17
It’ll get shitposted just like right now and it will still be divisive because the shitty fanbase doesn’t know what they want.
Ishikawa writing a numbered FF instalment could be disastrous. Zodiark Trance autism on a whole new scale.
>Game is getting it's own musical
I thought Nomura didn't work on this
>I thought Nomura didn't work on this
And yet somehow 16 even resembles Versus 13 more than 15 itself in many ways even if he himself isn't working on it, a mix of Ivalice and Kingdom Hearts in the most ambitious Final Fantasy game ever made. Truly the Versus 13 fantasy made reality. Stellagay wins again.
>A political intrigue/social commentary plot like Tactics
>References to Vagrant Story like the Blood Sin
>Modern but less scifi FF since 12
>Visual grandeur under art director Hiroshi Minagawa
>Event direction and Heavensward-tier story by Maehiro himself and other FF12/TLR writing staff like in Versus
>Lots of battle options like in SaGa games
>Overall direction by Hiroshi Takai, one of two developers blessed by Mana, Chocobo creator, FF1 graphic co-director and FF11 director Koichi Ishii as one of two heirs of Final Fantasy
>Action combat by Tokyo Team battle designer Takeo Kujiraoka once led by KH creator Tetsuya Nomura (another dev blessed by Koichi Ishii as heir to Final Fantasy) and Ryota Suzuki (and more) of Devil May Cry
>Visual effect splendor directed by Versus 13 VFX director Shuichi Sato
>Speaking of Tokyo Team, the design of Stella Nox Fleuret was repurposed specifically for this game
>Perhaps what might be the Nitroplus Final Fantasy only this time there is no director removal/retool and we're getting the game
>Main character is royalty on a revenge mission
>Clive's father being based just like Noctis father was supposed to be
>The rival blonde guy is Dion/Joshua here
>The love interest is the sword lady and a central figure to the protagonist
>Countries have their own crystals and each one has a summon representing them
>A dog
>Cid has a very similar vibe to 2013 trailer Cor
>Warping around during combat
>Not afraid to be a bit more mature in terms of using blood or killing off characters which was something shown in Versus trailers too
>because in 16 the crystals are a stand in for oil, this is a fantasy based on reality

Jill's theme title is 'My Star'.
>Jill's theme title is 'My Star'.
Yoshi-P really is a Whisper of Stellagay after all lol
Will CBU3 and especially Maehiro commit sudoku if they could understand what he's saying?
Why would they lend importance to the words of a failed hack writer grifting off 1k impressionable manchildren?
>they lend importance to thefailed hack writer grifting off 1k impressionable manchildren?
This is exactly the route they took with XVI and the story ended up being absolute bilge.
Stop shilling for your obscure and irrelevant little streamer. You and that homosexual are 100% lurking in these threads.
Those guys actually have careers and decent salaries, Joseph. They don't have to larp as a pulp science-fiction writer and panhandle for money with a Patreon.
Literally who?
it's fricking OVER
who?
See, FF16 shitposters are actually tendies.
His game is more fun to play
His game is literally Nioh.
It's nioh but worse
i'st still somehow better than XVI
And they haven't made a new game since 2013. Still proud of Rockstar?
>I like the story
You have serious problems
The battles are insanely repetitive and simple. The only way to lose is to die during some skill you were supposed to dodge and instead you brute forced it, since that works in 95% of situations. The last quarter of the game, suffice Odin shit, felt like it was done by a different team and lacked substance. All around, I'd still give it an 8/10 and recommend it to anyone with those caveats.
>Skill Up hates it
>Aris hates it
>Moonmoon hates it
>Lirik gave it a mid 7/10
>Cohncarnage hates it
>anderson hates it
>synthetic man hates it
>many streamers like jerma and clint dropped it once their sponsors are over
>journalists are clowning on the game
>Even the man that shilled the game to death thinking it would be a masterpiece maximillian turned on it and called tge game braindead piss easy
Its fricking over. Only person still shilling this trash is asmongold and he is used to eating mobile trash like diablo 3, wow and lost ark
I want every zoomer and third world shitskin who thinks any e-celeb opinion is worth anything at all to be lined up and shot.
anon even outside ecelebs and journalists, this website has also been clowning on this game. Its so bad that it flopped and the sales after week 1 dropped off to 90% for some places
Face it anon, its trash. The games a failure and it couldnt even beat diablo 4 on the metacritic
its for movie slop enjoyers who bought a PS5 and yoshi p dicksuckers
anti shills bros ... our narrative...
%3D%3D
Maximillian loves it too moron, aside from the difficulty he thinks the story is amazing.
Shitting on games and having contrarian takes gets the clicks.
> >Aris hates it
His chat shits on JRPGs all the time, including him, and calls it 'weeb' and 'trash', even though he himself is an ambassador of a niche AF genre that is even nicher than JRPGs, fighting games, and has the very same Japanese origins. He just goes along with what he thinks his zoomer kids want to watch. And most of the time he just plays Resident Evil, Souls and Fallout on repeat
>Says the game looks trash
>yoshi p fans force him to play it
>he spends 2 hours with the controller down watching a shitty movie and reading tutorials
>he drops it for being a shitty movie game
He’s based. Aris loves RPGs and realized there was nothing RPG about this game. Aris actually likes video games and not movie slop, its why he trashes TLOU, horizon and ragnarok
Aris is based. Too bad you dont like video games anon
>Aris loves RPGs
Souls games aren't RPGs
>choose your class
>choose your story
>choose your stats
>choose your ending
sorry, how not?
Be VERY descriptive
>choose your class
>choose your stats
fixed
So you can't explain how it's not an RPG?
I just did, Souls games don't give a shit about good storytelling. It's not a "real" RPG, it's a popular fantasy media rehash sandbox.
>I dislike story therefore it isnt an RPG
No wonder you like FFXVI. You only care about muh story muh cutscenes. Too bad FFXVI doesnt have a good story either so it isnt an RPG
>JRPG haters like Aris
yoshi piss cultist, just because he hates your movie trash like FFXVI, doesnt mean he hates JRPGs. He’s admitted to liking many JRPGs on the PS1 like Xenogears
>Says he doesnt like or watch ecelebs
>speculate and make shit up about him like you know the guy and gave been watching him for years
oh the irony. You completely made the whole muh eceleb argument completely pointless
Go subscribe to your fat gout having 40 year old gnome some more, you pathetic loser. KYS. Streamers and their parasocial dicksuck are the untermenschen of the world and you should just end it and make mankind better.

>Seens like ur the parasocial one yoshit cultist
ESL Aris homosexual. Checks out.
>typed n instead of m by accident
oh wow you got me anon…
still wont stop XVI from being trash
Gamers are mostly manchild babies whose brains are entirely driven by nostalgia.
They can't appreciate new things anymore and pine back for the days when they still had hope in their lifes. Wanting to relive their childhood endlessly and refusing to grow up.
>appreciate new things
>watching cutscenes for more than 50-60% of your playthrough shoukd be appreciated
frick no
>Wanting to relive their childhood endlessly and refusing to grow up
many good games this year. Its just FFXVI is a garbage movie game with a bad plot. Theres nothing good about it moron
It has more RPG element than FFXVI
yeah and?
>it has more RPG elements than action game
it even has more RPG elements than Tekken 7 and Mortal Kombat 1.
But you can't explain what makes it not an RPG.
I remembered why I never come here.
They both are action, you just don't have any better reply to defend your garbage
Streamer "parasocial friends" are the untermenschen of this world.
i dont watch many ecelebs cause i like playing games myself but Aris is the rare unicorn in the shit pile who trashes sony movie trash and realized that they are not games
hes also the only eceleb thats funny as frick
> Muh peer pressure confirmation

>how about you just play it

a movie game isnt a game anon
>Cohncarnage hates it
no he doesn't. He thought it was a good game, but has BIG issues that hopefully don't get carried forward for future FFs. 7R is more his speed.
>good game, but has BIG issues
so, not good
If you ignore where he says its a good game, yes anon. You totally got it.
>Final Fantasy DMC
>one(1) weapon type which barely do any damage so, the game is just spam ability on cooldown
extremely limited movesets
>can't even air juggle enemy
>le epic eikon fight is just playable cutscene
>can't even air juggle enemy
you haven't played the game
Is this game so piss easy because japs saw how moronic gaming journos can be and lost all faith in gamers? I don't mean just the difficulty but stuff like "inventory increased" has to appear like 3 times and it feels like they want to make sure you notice whatever is happening because they might think gamers are morons.
>NPC says: I'll increase the number of potions you carry
>Clive says: it feels like I can fit more potions now in my bag
>"Inventory increased" appears
>Another "Inventory increased" appears
>Tutorial-like window appears which explains that inventory has been increased and also provides numbers as comparison
>Clive goes: Right, now I can carry more potions
Am I wrong to think that they treat their customers as a bunch of morons?
The push toward "accessibility" in video games means that everything is diluted down for the lowest common denominator
They put the story mode in the game so, yes
It's easy because CBU3 is used to dealing with the XIV community who have mental breakdowns and threaten to unsub if they're challenged in any way
Epic gamer
trannies usually get filtered by stormblood, surprised he made it that far
>I am not even kidding, Tabata makes his games braindead for his audience AND also to appeal to the broadest audience possible
>This is why he wanted to appeal to the GTA V and CoD audience and why he based his shitty story on the most popular Marvel modies and had the gameplay based on the most popular fantasy sandbox Assassins' Creed
>This man unironically thought he was gonna be the next Mass Effect or Skyrim and sell tens of millions from word of mouth and near perfect reviews. He truly thought he was making gamings next mona lisa so he appealed to everyone he could by making the game a braindead easy movie game but instead he got mid scores and his game flopped
>i fricking hate Tabata so much. Biggest hack in gaming
You could have written this out and I would've agreed with you.
both tabata and yoshi p are hacks. Square needs to clean house and make a roleplaying game
as shit as tabata was, FFXV was much more of an appealing game at least
I own the FFXV book and I like FFXVI about as much as XV
The story beats are remarkably similar to me.
>Triple A snoy exclusive treats snoyfans as single-digit IQ beings
Heh unironically based.
I totally agree, and I'd consider myself a fan of the game.
I am expecting at least some armor and weapon customization and they don't even have those
I'm I the only one that noticed Sir Terence has an obvious lisp in his first scene. But it's gone in the next.
I liked the lisp. It was distinguishing.
>the art director of FF9's only post on the game is him examining a chocobo's feet
on the topic of ecelebs, did northernlion like the game or is he only playing it for shits and giggles or did he drop it already
cool story and cool cinematic shit but the gameplay and filler outside of the hunts make me want to drill a hole in my skull

Even AssistMeDoom says the shit heaped on FF16 is ridiculous and that JRPG / turn based mechanics in FF games has never been good.
You know he is right.
Maybe the game just isn't that good and people are voicing their opinions. Every forum outside of the fanboy ones like the subreddits brings up all the issues discussed in "Doomposter" threads.
Or maybe you're just jumping on a bandwagon without even having played the game or without even owning a PS5.
FF fans are autistic losers that whine about every new game in the series. this is nothing new.
It’s just not very good.
