Is Astlibra Revision based and funpilled? Do I need the DLC?
Also why do jap games have such moronic sounding names sometimes?

They make up things based on how cool they think they look/sound
Well ast probably means astral or star and libra is scales or pounds and the game is based around a magical scale. You do the rest.
You don't think ast has the actual meaning of the conjunction?
This is why chuuni thing love german word salad
This is why transforming super heroes scream out their attacks
This is why Gen Urobuchi exists
The rule of cool is universal and potent
It's fun and has loads of content. DLC is purely optional if you want more.
I think the negative reviews complaining about the offensive sexual content just sold me the game.
It's like one chapter where that happens and it isn't even THAT bad
well, there's a few other scenes here and there, but why anyone would complain is beyond me, it's tame as frick
theres a literal e-girl tied to a machine that gets fondled by the machine as a boss, KEIZO has some fricked fetishes
>KEIZO has some fricked fetishes
it's called being based
What is so e-girl about that? Is this the same case of "e-girl" as when resettroony called oppai sorceress in Dragon Crown e-girl?
Don't listen to that idiot. Guy has no clue
>resettroony called oppai sorceress in Dragon Crown e-girl
Lmao, how did I miss that? Source? Sounds funny as frick.
Actually it was Jason schreier who called the sorceress a e-girl.
Artist even made fun of him
Wasn't the guy verified member on resetera?
>fricked fetish
What was fricked about that?
homosexual
Marionette (literally CP)
Astrea 1
Astrea 2
Astrea 3
(Astrea was worse on the free version as she was totally naked)
Beatrix
Kuro
Pond scene
Thats without thinking too much
But its based regardless
>Marionette (literally CP)
lol
dude, shiro isn't a child and her boss form doesn't even look like one at all.
Sheero is sub-18 and they comment on how she looks like a child. She just has big breasts, but still looks like a child per actual dialog from characters.
she's literally a hag that magically pretends to be a kid
It was the other way around no? She naturally doesn't age as much because magic and the earrings were actually there to make her look older because she's got a complex about her height or sth.
it's been a while i can't actually remember
That's what I remember, granted the last time I read shit was with the old TL.
Yeah she has a complex about aging too slowly which is why the earrings project her ideal adult form.
Stupid speedreader, she pretends to be a hag. The magic earrings transforms her into adult Shiro
>Stupid speedreader
not a speedreader, i just haven't played this game in years and forgot
She's just a womanlet
>muh representation of women
>insane difficulty spikes (I have no clue what this is referring to)
>ridiculously hard puzzles that even my smooth brain could solve with little thinking
All negative reviews in a nutshell.
>insane difficulty spikes (I have no clue what this is referring to)
I got walled a few times on my first run, but even then I got through them in like an hour at most. Played on Impossible, by the way.
there are some on impossible, but I doubt journoloids played on that.
>insane difficulty spikes (I have no clue what this is referring to)
Probably the volcano boss.
Wow, so it's actually not woke unlike other indie trash? I misjudged him. Going to get switch copy the next time I swing by code shop.
The more woker cries, the better game I know it to be. Like this moron
Go get fricked.
The equipment boards should've been activated from the start instead of being postgame shit
replacing your gear as you go along is part of the experience
this, i enjoyed mastering stuff and switching it up as i played the game it helped keep things fresh
if you want to "Main" a single weapon, you can do that in the postgame
You don't need the DLC, it's a side story that takes an optional roguelike randomly generated dungeon from late in the game and spins it off into its own mode. It's basically just for people who liked the combat and grinding and want more. If you beat the game and like it you download the DLC.
Absolutely not, unlocking such a crazy game-changing feature when I thought the game was basically done was the highlight of the entire experience. Also the game is already drowning in ways to power yourself up, it would've been way too much to drop one that complicated on you too early.
>You don't need the DLC, it's a side story that takes an optional roguelike randomly generated dungeon
Wait so.. is the DLC completely seperate from the main game?
im thinking of continuing the main game on Switch and id have to play the DLC on Steam/PC.. would that work?
Play through the base game first, dlc is just a side Story that happens like after the demon castle, i think
It's just before the demon's castle during the postscript, Polin and town npcs comment on that.
pretty much yeah, it's like the postscript but made into an entire game
you could play the main game on switch and the dlc on pc seperate just fine
why you would want to play the main game on switch and not pc is beyond me but you do you
Excellent! thank you my good anons, ill finish the game on Switch first then
The alternate spells were a cool idea but most were very underwhelming/underpowered compared to the god summons you have at that point.
yes - you don't need the dlc, it's something you can get after the main game if you just want more of it since it's a "seperate" thing
chuuni names are just cool
Can someone give me a QRD? Looks interesting. Is it actually part 17 of a 34 part series disguised as a one-off game like every other fricking nip RPG these days?
Meds.
no it's a one and done, fully self contained game (about 60 hours to beat)
it's an extremely over the top anime as FRICK JRPG about the indomitable human spirit conquering overwhelming despair
Awesome thank you anon, sounds good
protect the pipsqueak from SHATTER
what is the GAMEPLAY like in this? it seemed pretty popular on Ganker when it came out but i always figured it just played like Salt & Sanctuary
plays like the post sotn castlevanias. it's not a metroidvania though, it's a side scrolling action jrpg that just happens to play like aria of sorrow.
for 60 hours?
The gameplay is very adicting
alright you have convinced me to give it a try
ignore the demos (there are 2 of them one on steam and 1 in game)(it will just confuse the frick out of you), just start a new game and roll with it
the prologue is like 30-45 minutes but after that it immediately starts kicking off when you actually get to play
select "difficult" when prompted for a difficulty choice too
I kind of wish they'd let you up the difficulty in postscript. Difficult was fine for most of the game, but you become so ridiculously strong in postscript.
Even on Impossible the curve breaks pretty quickly.
Disregard this moron, the demo is short and gives you a quick taste of what late game combat is like since it starts out very slow.
you know there is an option to play the first 3-4 hours of the game in the demo right? and progress carries over if you buy the game
The game has one of the best designed power curves I've ever seen - every couple of minutes you get something that gives you significant material improvements to your character, and the game escalates extremely well to match, while still letting you customize the difficulty by making it way harder or becoming extremely broken.
i think it might have the best progression system i've seen in any game. every little thing you do makes your character stronger in different ways and it has system from final fantasy 9(or tactics if you never played 9) where using equipment gives you abilities so you're constantly changing weapons and learning new skills and it keeps things interesting.
it's one of the most addictive games i've played, hits my personal autism just right. it's up there with nioh 2 for my favorite arpg.
wtf ok now you homies are actually making me consider buying it instead of pirating but i'll still do the latter first. it's not a controller game is it?
It is, keyboard controls suck
Only if you're inbred
no it works with keyboard and mouse just fine from what i heard, i did play with a 360 controller at the time though so take it with a grain of salt
you can use a mouse and keyboard but the rumble is pretty satisfying and makes the combat feel more impactful. i'd probably recommend a controller because of that.
holy shillthread batman
Frick off tendie
>tendie
rent free
I accept your concession, tendie
Is it beneficial to try to get all weapon abilities or are they mostly useless? Also I don't know if it's just me but I feel everything is so small and I had to squint when playing in handheld mode.
equipment does not give you abilities in tactics you fricking moron
If you cant frame 1 cancel every single action you can do with backdash then it doesn't play like castlevania
it's like one of those "Mission select" games with a central hub but slightly more organic and there comes a point where you can revisit past levels later in the game
as for the actual gameplay it's a 2d sidescroller where you go around murdering monsters, levelling up, collecting and maxing out new weapons - typical jrpg fare
this guy explains it much better than me because it's been a while since i played it
yeah but you're CONSTANTLY unlocking new shit, it's great
Where are you going
>another shill thread
Suck my dick, butthole.
whats the Gankererdict on the dlc?
More of the same, but with a girl instead, especially the final dungeon from revision. I just got the twist from kai, and it's pretty much what i expected from this game
Its basically pure combat with little to no story. The new gear / spells are basically what you are signing up for. You can customize your character's looks and unlock different styles (affects what stats you get as you level up).
Its fun. I would argue that it is a bit overpriced considering how simple it is, but it basically provides an "infinite" grinding game mode to the main game.
Beat the main game on Normal like an idiot and put the game down.
Bought the DLC cause I had so much fun with the base game and I've played a couple hours of it.
Now I'm debating starting a new run of the base game on difficult cause I would eventually like to have every achievement. I could SAM it but in this case I feel I would prefer to have it legit.
do it on impossible like a real man
You know maybe. If I'm already going to be doing the whole game a second time.
Told myself before I'm just not good enough at dodging for it but maybe I just have to take it slow and accept that I'm doing it at my own pace.
The only missable achievement requires you to beat the game one setting above Normal. It's a 60 hour game. You should at least play it one notch above Normal to the end if you care about achievements.
Does the DLC have a difficulty-related achievement?
Is normal too easy?
Yes
The whole game has a bit of reverse difficulty curve regardless of setting. You start off shit and the more skills and magic you gain the easier the game gets.
There are some exceptions like FRICKING ALLSTARS and the god fights but otherwise the game's a bit on the easier side.
That's the point, I want to level it up but it's downright unusable at the moment but I want the skill NOW
Any idea what the use for small metals are in the Gaiden? If memory serves they used to be what the Lottery tickets are now.
how many +1 trinket slots can I get, I wonder.
>small metals
It's for later, when you unlock meloo
man frick that certain arena fight
>FRICKING ALLSTARS
If you're talking about that fight in demon lord castle, that was probably the best fight in the game for me. It felt great absolutely wiping thr floor with them. I was also amazed how much the MC progressed since thr beginning to be able to do that.
All Stars is the arena version +Protag, Anulis, and Karon
Yes but the biggest problem is the achievement for difficult / hard. You don't want to find out after 60 hours that you have to do it again
Thanks for the heads up m8s. I'm a cheevo gay.
Difficult is perfectly fine, and you even still become too OP in late game.
You'll only swear a lot and pull a few hairs out of your hair during volcano boss.
>volcano boss
That was the sole time I felt a boss was overtuned for your current power level.
He's actually piss easy, just too punishing for specific playstyles (short range melee). Grab a lightning wand and spec magic and suddenlly no more problems with him
short range melee is fine on volcano boss, you need to realise you can straight up run inside of him in the middle of most attacks and hack away
>overtuned
kys
Also that segment where karon isn't with you... frick that part in particular
That was one of the easiest bosses in my current playthrough.
Just did that, the dual crossbow makes it a breeze.
I forgot how brutal the end of chapter 7 was.
>berserk
Yeah yeah
I dont get why people found chapter 7 so hard, the guys that latch on your head are pretty easy to cheese with shields
my favorite area of the game tbh
The fricking tanks were FAR worse
I never had an issue with the volcano boss. Dude just took a while to kill, that's all.
>You'll only swear a lot and pull a few hairs out of your hair during volcano boss.
and the optional dragon superboss
FRICK THAT BASTARD
??? just iframe waltz through him
Karon turn off my Cringe skills!
>want to upgrade Gaiden's Dark Staff
>it's slow as shit to the point of being unusable even when dumping everything in speed/agility, and the magician's special move doesn't get me enough ST to use a good clearing ability
>just wasted 6 tissues on a ring that doesn't even give me agility because I can't read instead of farming for the bandit gloves that give you drop rate
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
There are much better staffs later in the game. I just leveled it up to get the skill and dumped this piece of shit weapon immediately
The weight management on Gaiden is pure shit. If they had to make us waste crystals on speed, might as well ditch crystals and weight altogether.
Is the doggo cute?
I can't tell if this is cute or not..
Damn it.. guess I'm sticking with P3..
>polin is upfront about being a dog
>karon seethes eternally over being called a crow
thats because polin prefers his life as a dog while karon knows that this isnt who he truly is and he wants to find out the truth.
One is a lame Behemoth knock off, the other is a sick ass end game Dragon, of course they feel differently.
>get to entrance of stratum 3
>see THAT lying on the ground
bros.... this can't be..
The main character dreams of becoming a girl. Miss me with that troony shit.
What stats do I need? First time player.
Speed. Get it until your weight is 0, and then focus on offensive stats, followed by defensive stats. Luck/Adaptability when grinding/going through water.
Thanks, makes sense.
Just keep the stat softcaps in mind, you'll probably be running into them a bit as you go through the game. If you're hitting diminishing returns and feel like you're not getting much from it, feel free to move those points to another stat.
Swimming.
I did swimming build once and it was awful.
Unironically essential at times
It was crucial in the water cave, other than that not really worth it
Agi/luck/magic works so far. Hitting enemies fast builds up magic meter so it works together. I think.
anon you can finish the game on full luck build(damage output doesn't increase)
follow your heart and enjoy the game to its fullness
Currently playing it(70 hours)
Amazing game, fricking good gameplay, very good story (so far), top tear soundtrack. Constant new gameplay mechanics.
don't forget
save her
I didn't 🙁
Felt horrible after that
That whole thing was kinda bullshit. I know it doesn't matter by the end but still.
Wholesome
Just started the DLC on impossible.
I like how she has a poster of MC and Gau in her room, as well as miniature scale and a blonde wig. Total fangirl.
The DLC managed to push this game into new all-time peak which is pretty great, glad KEIZO didn't abandon it after the story was complete.
Goddamn. Ten times more players than $125 AAA single-player FPS made by EA.
Is it true that it took Keizo 14 years to make the game?
This game is a remake of original, so more or less?
Which one?
I haven't played the game but short little chunky b***hes like the one on the left make my dick diamonds.
I like them natural, so left
Based
Isn't she nearly "flat" (by this game's standards where Meloo is considered flat) in adult form while stacked in her short form?
Right, and it isn't close. Although Kuro is the real best girl.
they need to redo every background. It looks like fricking shit
Underage detected. Shame you grew up without blue skies.
soulless loser, get out of my vidya
Even underages like the kino blue skies and charming cheap visuals.
>all consumables are useful
>all offensive consumables are powerful as frick
>simple throwing knives are insane and can delete enemies
>crossbows and bows are all insane, double crossbow can shoot down even endgame enemies, 20 shot elven bow turns bosses into pincushions
>all this shit scales with your attack power so it's always relevant
I never touched ranged weapons, there were already like a dozen good room clearing summons to use like the laser unicorn.
I never used knives, but I'm using crossbows a lot in the DLC.
Maybe I should start throwing some daggers.
The Ninja class' style move is the Subweapon KARON from the base game, but it only consumes the style meter instead of ammo.
Works with knives, guns, the bows, and the new magic boomerang. Doesn't work with the crossbows or the vajra nuke.
Fricking hate it
I had the crossbow equipped and i didn't know she would take it out if i used the special attack with that class...
It would help if you read
If they have a weakness it's that the price is too expensive for low levels and by the time you can reliably afford subweapon, you just don't need them. I prefer if they were cooldown based & upgradeable. Make them a money sink so gold still has something to be used on.
Arrows are dirt cheap on low levels, only throwing daggers are kinda costly.
Is the Queen outfit supposed to be Queen's Blade?
How do i open the door in the empty house with the painting?
DLC btw
I figure at some point you'll get key items like the goblin key, sleeping dust and who knows what else. Maybe they'll be required for opening the strata.
God I want the weekend to come so I can play the frick out of the DLC. Astlibra was the only game I could play after a particularly nasty hospital stay and it made having infinite amounts of brain fog and internal pain bearable with fun it is.
I got 1 piece from Meloo Small Metal trading.
frick u
what the frick was this Black person thinking making it an early game spell for the dlc when it has the same properties as astraea's meteors
Playing it now, and the story is fack.
To think you actually fight the 4 autists is great
>wow... it even felt like he was holding back
no i absolutely wasnt
>we shouldnt come with him, it wont make a difference!
b***h i could really use your constant 10000 heal ticks right now
Protag has nothing on the baker girl. I'm barely in the 5th layer and I can already dunk on bosses in 3-4 spells, and wipe entire mob floors with a single one.
>tfw using the flood spell
Baker's daughter would make shiro and kuro blush in embarrassment
This b***h has like 10 nukes in her arsenal and three of them are water-element.
>it's a boss that summons endless amounts of goons
Thank god that shield bash restores your ST meter in one hit so I can spam fireballs.
I wish chapter 8 didnt suck so hard.
frick you, that area was kino
absolutely banger soundtracks too
frick the tanks though
Yeah it's pretty much entirely the tanks why it sucks so far. It's killed my momentum and desire to play it. I know I just gotta knuckle down and get past it but I'm kind of dreading a whole chapter of these fricking tanks.
I think I'll get the DLC another time. TR Remastered came out and I already bought the mainline Neptunia games on GMG. That, and it being a roguelike isn't that appealing to me.
>bought the mainline Neptunia
My condolences.
It's not really a roguelike.
It's like the postscript dungeon, but you aren't extremely OP when you get there.
I bought the DLC as soon as it dropped but I haven't playrd it yet.
same
i loved the game and i do want to play it, but i just feel like it's too soon to come back to the game, even though i only beat it like last year
I'm in the lava area where we go back in time, do bosses only have 3 attack pattern? This shit is getting boring as frick and what makes things worse is how fricking SPONGY they are. Spent like 15 minute autopiloting the fight. I had more trouble fighting mobs, should I just lower the difficulty to make it less boring?
Youre probably lacking a lot of damage. Get some of the best weapons in mokyun or even find recipes for even stronger ones, use the grow menu if theres anything missing, and check karon skills. Use the damage numbers things to find the most effective possession skills to use
You can walk up to him and hit him while standing on the center of his eye in the middle of some of his attacks
What difficulty are you playing on?
Lava boss is a Black person and takes forever depending on your equipment. It gets better afterwards. But I sure hope you like bullet hell segments.
What you want to do, or at least how I beat him was there is this spell called Wind Tiger that's a very powerful and piercing(that's the most important part, because the fricker has fire rings around him that soak up damage to allow the player to gain ST and just spam that for his initial phase
If you're playing on impossible then yes lower the difficulty.
Very hard arena fight
Am I missing some unlock condition for new styles? I have like a billion Corandum(tfw thought they were called Conondrums for like the 4 hours of gameplay I've been playing so far) but only three styles, explorer, swordswoman and magician. All three are leveled up to the max.
Stratum 2 , yeah I'm a slow shitter bite me.
You can get more classes through enemy Drops. They will also be useful with a skill later, so don't sell or drop them
What do I do then? Buff luck and hope for the best or am I not supposed to be getting classes in stratum 2?
I didn't buff luck that much and still got like two classes per stratum. And like the base game, you can get weapons, shields and armor from drops as well.
Yep, I got an ancient sword in stratum one which was an epic. Also I've just gotten a new style with no magic stones in luck so I guess I just had to wait.
Is there a book that chronicles all unique drops in every level like the base game?
why is she the butt of all the coomer jokes while kuro actually gets a wholesome
Because Shiro is dumb and arrogant while Kuro is nice and devoted?
so can you beat kai the first time you see him after the second boss, and if you do does it change anything? I think I almost got him but died like a b***h and the result was rather disappointing as though nothing had happened
You get his ring.
Well, frick
But at least he's not an achievement, right?
Haha...
Noooooo surely you can fight him again later on right...?
Just give me NG+ or something.
Or else i just replay until his fight again
Ok,that's bullshit
>tiny annoying flying target spamming projectiles
I just stood there, didn't even try to fight, as I assumed it will be like in base game where you're "supposed" to lose to him
Basically, just keep spamming Dark against him and use the sky sword to restore ST. I'm sure there's a better spell you can unlock by then but I didn't have it.
rip 6 hours of save progress I just reloaded an old one and grinded for it to do this
FRICK oh well.
10 hours here
oh well. i should have known. kai seemed to be not such a hard hitter this time around, so i was slightly wondering if you actually get anything from beating him. should have tried
The fricking ring he dropped is good too jesus christ
Yeah that's why I kept a save specifically at that fight to try again later, didn't know it was a fricking achievement AND an item.
Wtf there was nothing you could miss in the main game except for getting love early. That's bullshit I'm not playing 10 hours again
this DLC isn't that long and you could skip most shit now anyway. just do it
Is there any way to get it later on? I thought it's just like in the main game where he has different dialogue but that's all
I just did a couple of full dives to pump my stats via grow, kicked his ass this time and got his ring. the hero's hair ornament being bugged helped a bit though I'm sure (gives 100 def instead of 50).
>want to play dress up
>everything is so expensive and I've gotta get that second style slot
god damn how do I farm money
Love farm for Licia
After seeing a few threads for this game, I've become intrigued because a surface level glance at the Steam page makes this game look like something most people would pass over due to the aesthetics and metroidvania like gameplay. Is combat truly that indepth and fun or is it more like Hollow Knight and similar?
It's not like hollow knight, but it's very fun. There are also tons of progression systems happening all the time that makes your neurons activate.
first of all its not like metroid at all.
its like the 2D Ys games. its an action rpg. you dont run around in a maze bombing walls while backtracking nonstop. sometimes you backtrack but not always its structured into chapters.
The game's damn FUN, and decently long at it (60+ hours). Screenshots don't do it justice. Luckily there's a free demo so you're free to try.
wouldn't say the combat has depth but it has many features that makes you stay until credits roll if you can stomach/like some grind
like another anon said screenshots don't do it justice, i was pirating this because bored and ended up buying it then 100%ed the game
It's an Action JRPG first and foremost. The basic attacking mixed with spells and utility techniques reminds me of SOTN more than anything.
As for "why is it fun?": RPGs are power fantasies, in a good RPG I know I can become all powerful eventually. Astlibra has multiple mechanics to get super powerful, and every so often it drops a new ability or skill or mechanic which adds a new avenue to start maxxing out.
It's not an exaggeration to say Astlibra has 2 - 3 RPGs worth of Power-Scaling Mechanics in this one cozy game. Let me put it another way: in most RPGs you hit a wall and dread the amount of grinding you'll have to do. In a good RPG like Astlibra, you'll hit a wall and be excited with how much stronger you're gonna be once you climbed that wall.
>boards are back except now you still have half the dlc left to play with them
nice
Darkest dungeon but in space also
UFO + the MONAD
That shit was kino
I don't remember that.
Is that post heart dungeon because I thin k I stopped there.
>Is that post heart dungeon
Yeah as far as I remember it is
IM GETTING CLAPPED BY THE ANCIENT CHINESE DRAGON what the frick do i even do against the death beam
Now this is a cool mechanic, should've implemented this earlier in the game KEIZO
>using the power of love to defeat an existential threat to humanity
>your companions are actually pretty useful
name a more kino trope, you can't
From a game that's literally a Gnostic's Wets dream, You kill the creator god that's also Sophia in a sense at the same time
Did the art change at some point? I admit it's been a year since I've looked at the game but I thought this boss and
looked different in my playthrough.
they DID redesign and improve the art on a few bosses, but it was longer than a year ago this happened so you're just remembering wrong
Is KEIZO going to do a new game, or is this pretty much it?
the gaiden notice on steam does have 1 line alluding to it
i would gladly the play the frick out of anything this guy makes in the future
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
MY FOUNDINGS OF MY FRICKININGS
AAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>... The time has come.
And so have I
>tfw nobody except the sage knew that Astraea willingly died for humanity's sins
>1.3 gb patch
ehhhhh
I cheated the money in to buy all the cosmetics, sorry I'm not grinding I want to dress up as a playboy bunny NOW.
The grind isn't that bad, always prioritize golden tickets when you come across them.
I don't blame you bro, those thighs.
what are the golden tickets? arent they just luxury gacha tickets that i get frequently as drops?
There's like a special room type you can randomly stumble on that has three chalices with three items you can buy.
>magic stones(for stat boosts in the mirrors)
>magic... gems(for polin skills)
>golden tickets(5% discount at shops, stackable.
oh, that's what they are. i've been ignoring those in favour of magic stones/gems thinking they were just luxury tickets.
I've been using the grind as an excuse to powerlevel and master everything on Impossible.
>Do I need the DLC?
Well shit... i didnt know a DLC came out just yesterday wtf?? do these guys even HAVE any marketing team? (well aside from Ganker i guess).
Thanks OP, ill have to check this out
If the tickets are for the gacha machine, what the frick do I do with the golden rocks I'm finding?
Meloo
Is she in the phantom cave or do I need to go exploring instead? I've just been going straight to the cave, am I missing out on the outside world that's in the base game?
She will be unlocked later in the story
Polin will talk to you in your room when you return from a run. Runs done / progression deeper triggers them. Just keep playing.
The tickets are for the discounts, the metals are for gachas, just use the metal when near the gacha
I mean the lottery tickets. I tried using the metal and it didn't work, guess I was in the wrong hitbox area.
Anon probably mixed up base and DLC. Base game the metals are for the gacha machine, DLC the lottery tickets(but not the golden ticket) are for the gacha.
No amount of luck will make one enemy spawn when you need it to.
The true bottleneck resource is that fricking Mandragora resource drop. I can't believe that thing is cucking me in both the base game(ONE FRICKING YEAR AGO) and the DLC.
I wanna replay this but the story was so boring...
don't worry the DLC is basically pure gameplay
For me, it is the shitty drop rates on the crafting items.
bro your LUCK stat?
about whats your LUK
Still rng, i even had the no exp shit equipped. I can confidently say a good chunk of my playthrough was farming. I l
i liked the combat so much i never minded grinding all that much
Thats reasonable. I didnt like it enough to continously reset spawns.
It is genuinely the one thing that is stopping me from properly purchasing the game.
Yeah, that shit's excessive. I feel like the luck stat should be far more impactful than it is.
I put 60 points in luck and I still had to spend about 40 minutes grinding in Elysium to get all the recipes at the end before moving on.
when you farm you want to get 0 weight and then dump every single point you have into luck + equip all +luck items too
i never found farming unbearably grindy minmaxing like this
There are Karon skills that increase drop chance too which makes it easier, but I never found myself grinding for items in the game (pic related), my main bottleneck was force, especially when unlocking the KEIZO ASTLIBRA REVISION parts.
For me the story is the best part about it and unironically a masterpiece
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLfFHNkn37I
Its pure unadultered JRPGkino. It has every JRPG trope you can think of. The combat is pretty fun but takes about three dungeons before it really goes full action packed instead of the quasi shitty flash gaming experience from the early game
>That scene where the Minister implies his troops are going to rape the girls as comfort women
jesus christ
he's a good boy, he wouldn't really
Honestly the minister was a dick but he was also based. I wish I had screenshot that dialog of his where he goes "Will you forgive anything if it's a pretty woman"?
but, did he really?
i think they either end up dead or being imprisoned/left behind
>but, did he really?
no
Left behind to die. It was just ntr bait again.
They weren't left behind, that's in the timeline where he escapes with them and you fail to ever catch up to him. You never see those two again until you use the scales to redo it.
yes, but if you do manage to get after him he still drops them at some point. it seems like that would happen regardless if you came after them or not, only that they probably die the first time... at least that's what i think
Also, you don't need the DLC
>Also why do jap games have such moronic sounding names sometimes?
They explain the name like, in the very last scene of postscript (Like a NG+ but its actually the second part of the story). Basically, its about Astrea and referencing Libra from the zodiac.
>muh stack agility
Black folk use your LIBRA
One Agility card is worth a shitload of magic crystals if you use heavier weapons/staves
I'm extremely glad they added the percentages and additional info to the libra menu because during my original playthrough I had the completely wrong idea about the scales. I thought that them being tipped to one way meant that direction got all the benefit and the other scale got shit all, and them being balanced meant you get a 50-50 balance of both scale's bonuses.
Yeah, except I haven't dropped any agility card yet
>swap subjob to thief
Yep, it's grinding time so I can farm the items I need to make some new gear before I enter the next stratum.
I just bought the game. Should I avoid the DLC and do base game first? Or are they seamless?
do base game first
How do I know where is the DLC to avoid it? Does the game explicitly tell u?
It literally asks you if you want to launch the main or DLC when you launch the game.
>Does the game explicitly tell u?
when you launch the game on steam you have the option of playing revision or the dlc
just select revision and you can ignore the dlc until you beat the game
the dlc is seperate, you will be asked if you want to play the base game or the dlc on start up
do the base game first and then the dlc when you finish the main game
DLC is a secondary side story to the main game, it wont make a damn bit of sense unless you play the main game.
Oh, so the DLC is separate menu. Ok thanks
>We need to save the village from the goddess for real this time
>Ok we saved the village now lets go back in time and resolve the demon castle differently which would've also prevented this snake goddess thing from happening at all
Couldn't we have just skipped to step 2?
I mean you kinda murder every person in town in the first go around, avoiding that through your own decisions instead of as an unintended result from chapter 5 is probably therapeutic
I meant in the post script
Any tips for the arena god fights in the DLC? I beat Geraldine but the others are much harder.
git gud
>doing magic build in DLC
That big titty b***h is BUSTED.
So is this actually good and fun, or is it one of those stupid games with "le parrying" and other stupid shit like everything is spikes
>So is this actually good and fun
yes
>le parrying
none of that shit
>or is it one of those stupid games with "le parrying"
kind of? You're rewarded for perfect guard timings and abusing summon iframes, and theres a skill that sets your max health to 1hp in exchange for triple damage for the people with really huge penises.
>and other stupid shit like everything is spikes
No the platforming is minimal but solid, the draw of the game is the boss fights and story
>kind of? You're rewarded for perfect guard timings and abusing summon iframes, and theres a skill that sets your max health to 1hp in exchange for triple damage for the people with really huge penises.
while this is the case, it's entirely optional and you don't NEED to do any of this to succeed
you can unga bunga just fine
Yeah you can do grug shit builds but honestly its nice when you start NOTICING attack animations and perfect guarding, and then you start putting the Perfect Guard Recovery skill on that heals you for doing it right while you learn
That's the DLC kaiser fight, not the main game. Main game you can kill him too but it doesn't change anything.
>That's the DLC kaiser fight, not the main game.
Yeah I know, I meant that I thought there were no missables in the DLC as there weren't in the main game
there is actually one missable in the base game.
if you picked anything below "hard" difficulty
Ok compared to this it's really not a big deal
You can do parry builds, dodge builds and even full on attack builds.
There are builds?
I just put crystals into everything when I played.
>he isn't a big dick maxed magic chad
What are you doing anon?
Kinda off. You can ditch shield and go 2handed. You can ditch shield skills in favor of sword skills, magic skills or dodge skills and so on. There is a limited use of crystals until late game, which then you can have everything and just play however you like
if you didn't meet the bakery girl in the original game you arent a real gamer
I don't remember having as much fun in a video game in many, many years.
for someone playing it for the first time and don't want to grind for levels that much (it's what made me drop ys 2 on nightmare) which difficulty should I go for ? I'm planning on going for difficult atleast but if hard/impossible add something fun I might go for it
>don't want to grind for levels that much
difficult is fine for this
the game is a bit strange in that higher difficulties kinda make the game easier since they hand out a lot more bonus exp
alright, thanks anon
You wont be grinding for levels but youll be grinding for item drops. The game rewards skill over mostly stats so go second hardest.
this reminds me of bloodstained
which I enjoyed a lot so maybe I'll go for it
Normal is too easy, Hard gives you an exp bonus and feels more like the intended Normal difficulty.
Before chapter 2 you can swap difficulty modes so you can start on normal, kill the initial level 1 slimes and shit because those are fricking moronic tanky at the start of the game, then halfway through the cave start upping the difficulty to hard or higher.
Once you chapter 2, the difficulty gets locked and you can't raise it anymore, only lower it.
Does anything bad happen from using the scales in Chapter 6? The game is largely consistent with the idea that you can't change the past without someone else's life as a trade
Chapter 2 has polin never existing, Chapter 3 has kuro die (or would've died if not for kai's appearance), Chapter 5 has Lisa die, Chapter 7 has Karon die and then Anulis going berserk for trying to change the past again, and postscript has astraea's life be offered as a trade for "unlimited" scale usage. Worst thing that happens in 6 is that you can't use ruin soldiers to wipe out demons but that was hardly a trade when he used them to conquer the world
The music in this game is so fricking good.
>LGBT shit
I hate japs
meds
moron
the mc is canonically in love with this childhood friend and impregnates her
where is the "lgbt shit" you fricking mouthbreathing shitposter
frick off shitting up threads for games you don't even play
lesbians and crossdressing
lesbians are hot and they want to frick the MC anyway
>crossdressing
ok yeah sure i'll give you that but it's not like they're doing it for the sake of being gay, it's a fricking disguise for a stealth mission
>crossdressing
Japanese tradition unironically. The japs know to laugh at troons and fap to traps. That's the bushido way.
why do you actively seek out these threads to post this shit every thread
>replying to some Black person with (you) catching buttplug
haha gays
Headsup:
You can stack summons on Gaiden
SOME of them.
The light summon "bit" can be stacked and its hilariously strong, but other projectiles will just be replaced.
>The light summon "bit" can be stacked and its hilariously strong
it gets STUPID on the boss refight in the arena.
His health was melted and I didn't have Magician as my main class, just as a sub class
>LGBT shit
ewwww gross woke trash
>LGBT shit, japan
uhhhh based gay rights!
He's right though. All of those threads are about games with lgbt content
How is the Switch version?
I tried playing in handheld and couldn't see shit.
Perfectly fine, don't listen to that lying c**t
Shit
>get to before layer 3 boss
>polin does his usual "go back if you want to prepare, but then you have to start over again"
>fight boss
>lose
>decide to go back
>dew doesn't work so CANT go back
thanks polin
So what, are you just stuck now?
Nah, I can go into the boss room and kill myself in lava before the boss spawns to go back to town, but doing so dumps the 2k of each force i got on this run down, which I'd rather not lose. I guess it's time ti git gud.
>start stratum 6 with like 1k HP
>come back from stratum 6 and use my force
>3k HP and like 900 magic attack
Even impossible is too easy.
How do I unlock styles?
enemy drops
ah wait, unless you mean unlocking like "how to use new styles".
you have to use corundum for that on the blew israeliteel in your room or in the pigs shop
That's what I meant, thanks
Took me until 3rd stratum to figure that out
i haven't paid much attention to it, but does mastering a style actually increase your base stats even if you aren't using the style, or is that just a 'style base stat increase' thing? I have no idea how styles even work really.
No you only get stats from your main style. Substyle gives you their passive ability though which is still really fricking strong its worth saving up for it.
Are substyles postgame content?
no, you can unlock subs if you have the money for it.
i think you can get it from the clothing store
25,000 gold from the Clothes Shop, under the body clothes I think.
>but does mastering a style actually increase your base stats even if you aren't using the style
you keep the stats from mastering the job
>or is that just a 'style base stat increase' thing
finding duplicates increases the level up effects of the style
>I have no idea how styles even work really.
Each Style has:
>A Passive Skill that is automatic.
>An Active Style Move that you can use with Up + Attack to unleash a technique.
>A Mastery Meter to encourage switching and to gain perma stats to your character. (With or without the style equipped).
Important Note: Styles dictate how your automatic level up stats are increased. For example, Swordsman style will increase Atk more, while Magician style increases Magic more. You can switch mid dungeon, but if you leave the dungeon, obviously you go back to lvl 1 and have to start gain lvl ups again.
You can collect duplicates or new styles from monsters. If you get a duplicate, it will increase the base stat of that style.
Finally, you can unlock Sub Styles by buying an item from the Clothes Shop for 25,000 gold. This will let you pick two styles for extra stats and passives.
>Finally, you can unlock Sub Styles by buying an item from the Clothes Shop for 25,000 gold. This will let you pick two styles for extra stats and passives.
all you get from a sub-class is their passive ability
Later on you can gain benefits from your subclass's boards
Have other people found out the Tissue Papers are super useful? Start saving them up and go talk to that Witch near the Clothes Shop.
Yes, and to anyone dreading the 99 requirement for lollipop, you can craft tissues later in the game.
Are there boards in dlc?
Man, this postscript was absolute kino, I don't know why I hadn't finished it a year ago. Now to tackle the DLC in earnest.
>that pic
is that just an older screencap or did you ACTUALLY kill the real true final boss giant space lady
I had stopped on the postscript Volcano part a year ago, then I bought the DLC and used this to finally finish the game.
Giant space lady is before the boss in that pic
man i really need to play this again because i apparently can't fricking remember anything
That spoiler is an ending scenario.
>mc was holding back his true strength all along
my most favorite trope
Also any tips for grinding these achievements?
get your trinkets for x gain equipped, max out luck and just mindlessly farm the final dungeon is what i did
Surprised you don't have athlete or genocider that shit just kinda happens as you go.
>that shit just kinda happens as you go.
not really no, the requirements are pretty overtuned
i beat the game in 60 hours and i did everything there was to do and i didn't get them
i didn't even check cheevos beforehand and played the game on normal cucking me out of one more too
with Athlete you can use a rubberband to keep running into a wall
It kinda happens as you do Impossible Mode because you'll be stuck grinding multiple times, atleast once per chapter. I remember it unlocking fairly late into the game too, so you're kinda fricked by playing it on normal. Play it on Impossible, instead, these games are meant for grinding.
Most of my movement was air dashing and I guess it doesn't count
athlete was the 'walk 50,000 steps' or some shit wasn't it? that was my last achievement and I literally had to grind it out because I had everything else waaaaay before it capped.
OP here. Just finished the demo and I have an instant hard-on. This game is straight out of the old school.
Got to the final chapter in hell difficulty with the Astrea three phase fight and holy shit it's so fricking cancer I want to kill myself god DAMN guess I need to fricking grind even though I killed all the gods n shieeet.
Remove all points from stuff like luck and adaptability. Remove all non-combat karon skills.
Use astrea's spear and the skill that lets you bring a shield alongside it. Kill all the optional god bosses in general for their stuff. Make sure you have the best armor around like hero's armor.
If you feel like you need it, really consider getting a ton of gunpowder.
Get the 10 libra scales and make them have super good items on them.
thats what i did for it. Frick that fight tbh
actually i didnt get the gunpowder, just astrea's spear and spells. Still sucked though
>second phase is a boring waiting game
>third phase is a dumb damage sponge
Yeah I'll do the skill rigamaroo and get that reward from the sage for all the gear, should make the difference.
Besides what the other anon said, try grinding force for the grow tree and make sure all your equips are maxed out to unlock skill/magic crystals. Do the Arena stuff in addition to the EX dungeons if you want more stuff, and make sure you got all small metals for the Mokyun gacha since it has some pretty good stuff.
Thanks fellas.
congrats hermano
>Another boss right after
AIEEEE LET ME G-
>It's a complete jobber
huh okay
Sword waltz my beloved
The two endgame dragon fights are the worst in the game since theyre fricking damage sponges.
Just use berserk anon
Is ninja the strongest style?
Nah, elec cust is
Ninja's skill feels the most OP because Throwing Knives frick shit up and Ninja lets you use them for free
>Knives
Do they still scale from MAG?
Yes. As do all other thrown/shooting weapons.
It's kino and plenty fun so yeah it's top vidya.
>start making more money
>gradually bawd up my character more and more
>ponytail
>exercise clothes
>bloomers
I'm a simple man with simple tastes.
What should I be doing for stat distribution when I level up? Also are 2h weapons objectively inferior because they can't block good?
There is a late-game passive that enables wearing a shield with a 2H weapon which is quite broken. As for stat distribution, I usually focus on atk with some luck for drops, if a boss is hard you can always freely respec on blue gems.
>Also are 2h weapons objectively inferior because they can't block good?
I finished the game almost exclusively going berserk and without a shield, except when getting skills. You don't need to block if everything is dead or can't reach you because of the range and knockback from 2h weapons
>Put berserk as late game skill
>nerf agility
>increase weight
>buff magic
The frick was Keizo thinking?
I don't know if he is based or just went stupid and asked for someone else to play test it
>>Put berserk as late game skill
>>nerf agility
weight
>>buff magic
Based. Berserk was a crutch, Agility is too useful compared to other skills, weight was meaningless in the main game, and magic was strong before, but the new mc is a magician.
>late game skill
I got it in stratum 4 though?
Actually sorry, was near the end of chapter 3 when i found Dark Spaulders for berserk
Is it a drop? If it is I'm almost sure its not on stratum 3
it's a drop
I got it in 2 or 3, since I haven't reached 4 yet
Any tips for Agni in the arena in the DLC? I'm on impossible.
>Finally finished the main game
>MC went super saiyan on that wuxia-level villain butthole god
>No actual plotshit twist of the Goddess having some hidden scheme, Astraea deserved better
>No pregnant Anulis timeskip
What a ride, 10/10. Just in time for the DLC too.
Love that Astrea is just wearing an armor with night dress.
she really deserved better
>Spoiler
Did you watch thru the credits? Pretty sure there was a scheme twist.
The spoiler image is the second after-credit cutscene. The twist was that she lied by telling you that there's no price when using the "New and Improved True Scales", when she was actually using her existence as a chip so MC can fix everything.
Yeah was doing a good thing all along.
>get stripped naked and molested by robots and humans for tens of thousands of years for the crime of being the only god to not abandon humanity
>have full view of degenerate humans using your power to make things even worse while solving nothing
>still never give up on them to the point of sacrificing your life for the sake of their future[spoiler]
Deserved better indeed, I feel she hid the truth because she knows the MC is such a chad he would try to save her too
Okay but was the sage also a god or what?
no. just a strong dude
>Spend god knows how many tries and time creating the perfect god killer to finally slap the shit out of Geas
>This guy? Hes just strong and warps around dimensions and shit
Deus Ex motherfricker
>you show him your equipment collection
>"impressive! as expected of the guy who seduced my little girls. heres a gift for you."
>gives you a sword used for killing gods and cutting space apart somehow
Don't forget
>It's his old sword
>>This guy? Hes just strong and warps around dimensions and shit
This is pretty much everyday stuff for a high level wizard
How high we talking? I'm 39 and can't do this shit.
You say that like the MC isn't just some random frick who can punch out Space Stations and Gods for no good reason.
Despite him being a mysterious orphan who just so happens to a look like a genderswap of the all-powerful psychic supercomputer/girl that can create magical life, and he turns into a invincible shadow monster when he gets pissed.
sage went to all fields
Is this some mistake? The screen does not stop on impossible.
Its a typo, the opposite is what happens
I can't stop playing
that's the average astlibra experience
indeed, and I love it
>tfw too stupid to CreamAPI
you can just torrent the dlc
I found something called "demon's head" but I can't find it in any of my item menus, any idea what it is?
do bandits gloves give any notable increase in drop likelyhood? I've got 14 tissues so that extra trinket slot looks tempting, but if that's more useful I can hold off.
is the new TL actually worth using over the old one? the old one is still selectable, right? i heard some of the charm is now lost
the new translation is better.
Its kinda hit or miss, you have to select the old TL in the beta branch to get it back.
>new TL
>text looks like dogshit
every time
It's the exact same font except one is taken from a low quality youtube video and the other is screenshotted from the actual game.
that's bullshit and i don't believe it
habeeb it
>pic
uhm, this is a new "translation"? it just looks like the edited the previous text to be more legible and nothing else.
Yes, that's basically all that happened. And it's all still pretty faithful to the original text. No censorship troonery happened thankfully.
it's more of a remaster than a remake
they just rewrote it so it doesn't sound like ESL english anymore, just regular english
I could point out actual translation errors from the old translation but they would involve spoilers and you clearly haven't played the game so you shouldn't see them.
But yes, half the point of the retranslation was to make it read better since the original couldn't even keep tenses or narration perspectives consistent.
>left: to the point
>right: i need to add more words to fill the page for my homework
the new translation is worse.
The "charm" is just ESL English. You should absolutely use the new translation because the old one has a bunch of mistranslations some of which make certain story points significantly harder to follow.
Yeah, use the old TL if you want extra hard mode. You thought it was difficult when you didn't know what to do to solve a puzzle? Imagine the script not knowing what to tell you either.
Actual unironic skill and brain issue
Yeah for the Translators.
Pretty sure some skills had outright incorrect descriptions on the old TL.
It was the elemental skills, and honestly they're still not completely honest in the new TL iirc.
The effect of those is you do more damage to enemies weak against fire attacks when using fire attacks, but the old TL just said shit like "does more damage with fire attacks" so you think its a flat bonus everywhere.
The old TL also said that Secret Medicine made you deal 1.5x damage when it actually makes you take 1.5x damage. That made my Hell run a lot harder than it needed to be.
>ponytail
>bunny outfit
>lvl 99 Broom
it's baking time
>Kai is sent after you because you changing the past is causing people to pop out of existence in his future
>The Human Population Control Plan directly contradicts this by noting that killing people in the past only resulted in different timelines being created and had no effect on their future
Don't look if you're only that far in the game.
It's because Kai is from outside of Elysium, the people of the "future" have imperfect information, since they're also within Elysium and unable to observe the actual future.
Ask again 10 hours from that point
I thought that [spoilers]since Colony people escaped Elysium I assumed that meant they were subject to regular causal rules, if something happens which causes their ancestor to die they get erased permanently since they're no longer a part of the closed time loop
>[spoilers]
hermano just press control+s
I have every single cheevo except this one
>Grind everything possible and do eveything possible
>Still need another 40k hits
wtf
you don't need to have 100% of every mundane achievement unless you are autistic
Well, yes.
Is this a trap?
Will it hurt the chances of dropping materials and chests?
no? it does exactly what it says.
Materials/Items and chests are 2 completely different loot drops.
So no
I HATE THESE AND FROGS SO FRICKING MUCH
the only puzzle i struggled with was that playing cards one in the water area
You're joking, right?
no
If it makes you feel better I was stuck trying to figure out what to put in the box for so long
Same. I didn't think to press "Up".
The puzzles were funny because they're just there and the average gamer in current year has been so brainrotted they didn't even recognize what to do without having THAT CARD to explain it to them
my favorite filter is the lake one because people just blow right past it forget that it's actually a thing
>filtering all the children who've never heard of aesop's fables
Truly a kino quest
I remembered it and knew about the old myth it was a reference to, it just has the same problems that every puzzle in this game has:
>I've been grinding 3D Color Hexagons for several hours now, and you want me to switch to some adventure game puzzle shit?
>Okay so there's no interaction button or indicator. and every time I try to use an item it's always does a meaningless cooldown and nothing happens, I guess that's not how you use it.
Then you find out you either didn't stand in the right pixel to use the item or you didn't want for the story to allow you to solve the problem. 15 years of game development makes little details hard to stay consistent.
Finally got the game. Is there a particular stat I wanna always invest in or is it fine to level up whatever I want?
You can restat at any time with the blue gems in shops/town. LUCK gets you exp faster but every stat has a soft cap so balancing out the stats you actually use is a good idea.
you can reset at any point you like for free but you basically want 2 builds
firstly you want your weight to be as close to 0 as possible by raising agility iirc and this is for both of them and then you have your farming build to grind out drops which just involves pumping luck, and then when you wanna fight bosses respec into combat stats that boost the weapon type you're using
HP and Defense are a meme.
Put everything into luck when farming materials.
1 in each stat, rinse, and repeat. Because that's Based.
Shiro sexo
In case anyone is interested in cheevo grinding, Arena 1-2 is full of slimes and you get ~100 kills per run which are less than 20 seconds long if you have post game gear to one shot everything.
I found the backstep button I bought two stratums ago
in the base game I missed backstep until I was almost done with the main script
never got used to using it after that
This is going to get my grind autism going, getting them on all boards and with the improved magical stone stat gain.
call me filtered but the game is too ugly to enjoy and combat at least as far as I got (about 3 hours in) doesn't offer anything interesting.
>get to 8th stratum on impossible
>stop holding block for 0.0001 ms to cast a spell
>lose half hp
Game is now primarily an archery game
It's a formidable enemy!
>it's just a giant blob
I thought it was a joke room for a while.
I got the fricking like chapter 8 robot once in the first stratum i dew'd the shit out of there
bought this game because of the Ganker hype train and have to say i've been pretty addicted so far.
once i first got possession it was a rush.
The music and atmosphere is on point for such a simple game. Really appreciate the particular style of backgrounds, gives me old school feels. Also smiled at the Nausicaa reference with the dog biting the old man in Chapter 2.
someone recommended to play on hard difficulty for the achievement so i've been doing that but frick, i keep dying in the swamp area.
i'm glad you're enjoying it anon, unfortunately the only "advice" i can give you is either "git gud" or do a bit of grinding to make your life easier
Is it actually possible to play Astlibra with exclusively two handers and no shields? Seems like most of the bosses revolve around you being able to block.
Magic gives you i-frames.
yes. backdash and use magic for iframes.
>only learned backstep in post-game
OH SHIT SO THATS WHAT IT WAS
I've never used backstep in the game. Just blocked and blocked
Yeah I instantly sealed it, shit is messing my groove.
Is this common with keyboard players? I used a xbox controller and the dash is on the r1 button which is very intuitive to use, I abused it for most of the game.
Backstep and kirihide gives like 2 sec of iframing lel
Yeah that's what I used, with the one that creates rocks during the jump slash which is why it's so high lel.
One of the postscript accessories turns the backstep into a forward step which is great for movement
>remapped the run button to r1 to feel like megaman zero
Anyone else does this?
>thread dies one post before bump limit
>another bump limit astlibra thread
blessed
>thread reaches bump limit
The scales are activating
AIEEEEEE
