BDSP is unironically the best Pokemon game I've played since BW2. It's not perfect obviously, but it's very very good. It's also the best Sinnoh game and the second best remake only behind HGSS, imo. I don't understand why people here seem to dislike it so much. It doesn't make any sense.

That's not true, tho. Only the story is faithful. And the graphics. Everything else has been renewed: Grand Underground, Ramanas Park, Battle Tower, Secret Bases, Super Contests, Stickers, Trainer Customization, Following Pokemon, etc

And maybe that's the problem it only had renewed features, and only added following Pokemon so they don't look lazy in the advertisements. Still no reason to play it over the originals let alone platinum.

The only features that are kind of cooler than the originals is maybe the Grand Underground, and Trainer Customization.

Pick one (or both). These are the only reasons you wouldn’t notice how poorly balanced BDSP’s tower is, especially compared to some of the better modern facilities (Battle Tree).
grand underground sucks ass because i can't raid bases with my friends anymore. the only flaw with the original underground is that you can't do it over wifi. all they had to do was keep the old underground and use wifi *and* local instead of just local.

BDSP is better than Platinum. The Battle Tower is vastly superior, the Grand Underground is vastly superior, the Contests are infinitely more fun, Ramanas Park exists, you can catch all the Gen 1-4 starter, etc. Platinum is overrated as frick.

No it doesn’t. Platinum is leagues better than Diamond and Pearl but BDSP blows all three original Gen 4 games out of the water. All the “it’s too slow!” complaints? Well now the game is one of the fastest of all Switch Pokémon games. Can’t walk Pokémon like HGSS? Now you can and the Pokémon actually follow you unlike S/V where they meander. Contests sucked? Now they completely revamped how it worked? Can’t catch certain Pokémon? They added Pokémon to the Grand Underground!
The official website itself says that the only thing faithfully kept was the story, which in my opinion is a good thing. ORAS had story changes that made me feel like I was watching a goddamn 2000s anime romance (and not the good ones either).

True, true. I played Diamond then Platinum back to back in the late 2000s and Platinum was small improvements while Emerald had big ones. I can’t even really play Ruby and Sapphire like I play Emerald. But I can play Diamond with little issue after Platinum.

I really liked it. It's better than DP and on par with Platinum (some stuff it does better some it does worse). Easily the best Gen 8 game though
In my opinion:
BDSP > Platinum > DP
BDSP > SwSh > PLA
BDSP made me realize that we all treated ORAS way too harshly.
I feel the opposite is true. After thinking about ORAS, I realized how good BDSP actually is.
I blitzed through both remakes to get some remaining legendaries and ended up finding stuff worth enjoying. DexNav and flying around on MegaLati in the endgame owned, turning Mauville into a shopping mall was a cool take, and I just found the gen 6 art style to be peak.
Both remakes are fine when you ignore all the annoying nitpicking morons, but I didn't like OGDP to begin with so it had a bit of my bias to deal with. And even though you can find all the Platinum encounters in the great underground, the enemy trainers still had those uninteresting vanilla DP teams which left me trying to avoid battles more often than not, which is something I'll say about encountering all those Magma/Aqua grunts that only have a Poochyena and Zubat.
ORAS was shit. For the complaining people do about the BDSP chibi's, the ones from ORAS are 10x worse looking.
I like these games but it’s clear why people dislike them when the same criticisms have been b***hed about since the game released. I also don’t think they’re that underrated as I pretty much agree with all the criticisms despite enjoying it. Certainly better than anything else on the Switch besides maybe LA.
