My issue with Quake 2 is that it doesn't really get fun until the game gives you more than like 3 weapons. The early game sucks because you get stuck with basically the super shotgun and the chaingun to deal with the bullet sponge enemies. Quake 1 is fun the entire way through.
The late game is where all the fun is >More ammo than you'll ever use >A bunch of powerful guns >Lots of pissed off cyborgs to use them on
Anything past the mines is great fun.
Quake had the benefit of taking away your weapons every 9 or so maps. Quake 2 didn't have such a structure, so they had to design the game around the idea that you'll be bringing weapons from the very beginning right to the end.
quake 1 was more creative and interesting, but more bullshit and wonk due to being id slapping a bunch of ideas together inconsistently as their first real 3D project
quake 2 is more consistent from start to finish and fairly low on bullshit, but it's more of a product and isn't as captivating or interesting and lacks challenge, even with the new AI changes
You didn't even play the original game. The "remaster" rebalances it to be more like 1, but with worse maps and movement. So basically, you're admitting you want to like 1 but you're too moronic to play it and need a baby game instead.
Quake 1 was too ambitious for its own good. It's a fine game with a great setting, but the expansions and fan content does what it tried to do better. Quake 2 is a better game overall except the setting, but the enemies are better.
it's different, i have a different pleasure with it but it's not a substitute or a& good sequel.
it's a good game tho, i don't get the hate aside that it's not like Quake 1 but has the same name...
Sure, if you ditch the campaign. Even the mod scene was better.
there are no good quake games
i'd rather not know about your tastes
the art style of Q2 is miles better than Q1 for me.
Doom 3 and Quake 2 are simply the best in their respective franchises
Doom 3 is just imps
>teleporting behind u :3
for the entire frickin game. It pissed me off more than it scared me.
Quake 2 is easy as shit.
Post your nightmare clear
Nightmare isn't hard anymore, the remaster "fixed" that.
Git gud
the new expansion pack turned the medics into archviles

I honestly would say the game gets fun as soon as you get the Hyperblaster. Probably the most satisfying weapon in the game IMO.

I don't honestly think it's better than Q1, I can see the futas in it, but I don't think it deserves the hate and vitriol that it gets.
>I can see the futas in it
Autocorrect just gave you away.
>I can see the futas in it
what did he mean by this
>I can see the futas in it
Oh my.

Name 1 FPS that has anything remotely similar to the Strogg.
>the glitch that doesn't let you find all the secrets
fugg
I need 100%

I actually first played it back on my Windows 98 and haven't even touched the remaster yet.
Get fricked revisionist zoomie niggy
Then you're doubly moronic because the original is a genuinely awful game. Very dissapointing.
Sounds like a skill issue.
Q1 movement has too much inertia, you let go of the key and still walk a few steps.

We settled this yesterday. It's not.
>We
why did the bait thread spamming moron latch onto this game? is it because it's published by bethesda?
There's a schizo who really, REALLY hates Quake 2 and Half-Life.

like every sequel should be.
your point?
1 had better music tho
>1 had better music tho
yikes. It's NIN shit
You missed out on laser mine grappling hook ctf, that shit was amazing.
