Hiyoko grew between her first and second year so its most likely the same case for Makoto. By the time hes principal of Hopes Peak, its been many years since he first arrived at the school
In DR1's student profiles, his height is specified as 5'3". Whenever you see characters standing next to each other in the game, it's obviously an abstraction since they're all cardboard cutouts essentially, and in the few CGs that Makoto and Kirigiri share it is shown she is taller than him (the Mukuro Ikusaba reveal has her leaning into him, for example).
Makoto's growth spurt in DR3 additionally makes no sense as at the end of DR2, which would be mere hours or at most days before DR3 Future, Makoto is still the same height he was in DR1. The DR3 designs in general are awful, Makoto's in particular just makes no sense.
Did Makoto and Kyoko have the same artwork from DR1 in DR2? I don't seem to recall them wearing their Future Foundation suits in it. To be fair they should completely retcon DR2 to match DR3 since you do have a point about the timeline. I supposed he got arrested as soon as he reported back.
Ah I guess I forgot they were wearing suits then. But besides the haircuts, is this not showing Makoto as the correct height for DR3? Hes slightly taller than Kyoko standing next to her. Byakuya is also supposed to be 6'1" which looks about right if we say Makoto is about 5'7" now.
He's standing in front of her. In another shot during that scene, you can see Makoto is roughly close to her height, but his hair is doing a lot of the heavy lifting.

Okay then its a bit of continuity error then. Unless we assume they just took their time getting back to the Future Foundation. Byakuya was also completely wrapped up in a mission elsewhere during Future Arc, so I'm unsure what the direct timeline was. There are different divisions of FF and Makoto and Kyoko could have gone back to work for several months before he got busted and had to report to the HQ.
At least he survived two killing games, and gets to live a comfy life with Kyoko afterwards.
I'm also convinced that Yuma is their son. We never learn Yuma's real name either, so theres reason to believe hes a Naegi

It still annoys me that Rain Code wiped out half of its cast in the first 20 minutes. The marketing really pushed that these characters would be a big part of the story and they are featured prominently on the boxart.
I feel like they had to make cuts to the story and decided to kill them off to focus on a smaller sized cast. I haven't read the manga yet, and supposedly an anime is planned.
The sequel will star Kurumi as she searches for Yuma. She will open up the book and team up with Shinigami. It would be a nice touch to have her team up with those detectives and solve mysteries using their powers.

Anyway the rest of the cast was shit and they hid character development behind dlc lmao. Rain shit was so bad.
RC renewed his interest in DR and he said he plans on making sequels to both. He wants RC to be the 3D pillar, and DR to be the 2D pillar in the series.
Quite bad, but the one and only fan translation (Project Zetsubou for Danganronpa 1) also has some rather bizarre oddities like changing a character to be a israelite who constantly says "oy vey".
