Why do Blizztards always bring up Twitch numbers as if that is somehow an accurate measure of how many people are playing it? I've quite literally only seen Bilzztards and Riotshills do this. I mean if it were true then Poe would have about 30 Million daily users since it has half of Roblox's twitch viewers.

Blizzard inflates the views on twitch by constantly running drop campaigns.
Currently D4 with drops has just 500 more viewers than WoW that has no drops. It's not modern WoW mind you, 90-95% of streams are WoW Classic HC or WoW Classic WotLK.

        what do we do man
        there are no more mediums
well, there is one, but shitbook butchered it
basically, polished, non-janky virtual reality hangouts and experiences
live concerts on top of 10000 story VR skyscrapers, vr streams where an eceleb basically hangs out with fans in the room, where you can sit around, drink and eat (all with real-time feedback, smells, taste, sound)
        teledildonics, or VR prostitution
but this is decades into the future, and I can't think of anything else
actually, I can think of something
basically, this is FAR into the future, but if we're talking vices, consumerism and hedonism, I assure you, something like this is THE future, it's basically:
        >working out and training
        >VERY QUICKLY 3d-printed/cloned disposable androids with synthetic/real flesh, or just clones, basically meat marionettes without brains, so no human rights, they're 3d printed while you're at work, you can queue them up
        >very, very human-like, they're real humans with no brains, souls, rights
        >fully customizable, organs optional, but meat and blood, blood vessels are mandatory
        >you have this private AR-enhanced arena, you can choose the background and setting of the room down to the minute details
        >you walk in, and commence the bloodbath
        >vast, real arsenal to kill them with, melee weapons, guns, you name it
        >they can't harm you, they're weaker than you, you can give them holographic/AR weapons, some that like it "real" give them weapons from lighter materials that can't kill you
        >you basically walk in, and be an animal for several hours, kill them, frick them, whatever you want
        >caters to the darkest, suppressed, most primal and most human desires to kill and dominate
        >a lot of people play "the game", it's not really openly talked about, but everyone knows it
I'm telling you, this will be HUGE, your own murderoom, this is the endgame of depravity
You can play out scenarios, like friday 13th, a store, clone someone you hate, celebs, etc

How many people do you think are willing to wait nearly 5 months to play a new hotly-anticipated installation in a wildly popular series? According to the sales figures, the answer is 2,500. I'm more than willing to bet that if Diablo 4 was released simultaneously on Battle.net and Steam then the Steam sales would have been far stronger and possibly even surpassed Battle.net. The problem is that no one wants to wait 5 months to play a new game because then all the hype has died off.

I don't understand what you're getting at. I don't have some emotional investment in which platform sells the most copies, I'm only pointing out that it's completely unsurprising for the Steam sales to be incredibly low when the game has already been out for 5 months and everyone who wanted to play it already bought it within the first month when it wasn't available on Steam.

Deebs looks like that in 3 because he possessed the body of a woman. His form is always influenced by his host. The Dark Wanderer in 2 was the warrior from 1, so he ended up being a giant beefcake.

I believe he might be referring to Emil Pagliarulo, quest designer at Bethesda. Dude infamously knows how to do one story line, and it's thieves guild shit every single time. Maybe because he designed Thief as well, but the point is he's seen by some as a poison in the well at Bethesda.

A part of it has to be hubris; they were known as an amazing developer, but a little self-awareness and humility are never amiss, otherwise you're going to huff your own farts. Being bought by Activision probably did not help matters either.

Of course they're shit, the last good game made by Blizzard was TFT in 2003. Warcraft 1 through 3, Starcraft and Brood War, Diablo 1 and 2, those were all excellent games and anyone who had a PC in the 90s knew of these games.

Starcraft 2 was great and kick started streaming essentially, gameplay has only gotten better with the expansion releases. Legacy of the Void is the best state the game has ever been in single player, coop, and ladder. It's not blizzard's fault that most players want to play moba's so they can blame teammates for losses.

Blizzard is basically fighting the playerbase with how they want the game. Blizzard wants to "MMO-fy" the game, keep people playing as long as possible. Diablo 3 already turned seasons from a simple reset into time-limited content like a gacha game, and now Blizzard is trying to shove in padding to keep people playing each season as long as possible. And each patch removes some of the tedium Blizzard wanted to have. Renown statues and open-world crap and traveling to dungeons and now horses and blockades.

      Anonymous

The game was lacking in content, and when people no life and smash through the limited amount of content and find temselves bored the only thing to do is gripe about other annoyances in the game. Season 2 just released with a massive amount of QoL improvements and a big expansion to endgame, basically in the state it should have launched in. Everyone besides the deranged blizzard haters are positive about the current state of the game maybe except that soon there’ll e complaints about it being too easy

      Anonymous

      >I heard nothing but positive buzz around this game when it released
The game actually starts out fun until the annoying Asian Black girl hijacks the story and the gameplay balance falls apart, not to mention people reaching the awful postgame experience.

      Anonymous

Initial positive buzz was because it was polished and looked really good in the current age where most large games release still needing 2 years of development to not be buggy trash.
The cracks started showing really quick:
      >Campaign dawdles about for 4 acts then rushes through 4 more acts worth of story in 1 act
      >Shitty bosses, one of the main story bosses is just a reused world boss and you fight Elias like 3 times
      >Renown progression was seasonal, Altars of Lilith were going to be a seasonal collect which is LITERALLY just busywork to pad runtime
      >Neyrelle among the worst Blizzard characters which is a really high mark
Then conflict happened. The sweaties began playing endgame while casuals who don't even like video games accused the sweaties of hating everything. These moronic casuals didn't realize that the sweaties' issues would be their issues too, just in more time. If you hear people talking about "I'm a father of 8 with 3 jobs and only four minutes a week to play and I love D4", it's these homosexuals they're making fun of
      >Character progression functionally stops at level 25-30 and never changes after that point, Uniques barely shake things up
      >Dungeon layouts are shitty with annoying backtracking
      >Terrible damage calculation system demanded your build basically fill out a checklist of damage types and status effects which torpedoed build variety
      >Blizzard trashed the good builds while not realizing those were the ONLY good+fun builds available, ruining the game for a lot of people (Whirlwind Barb and CDR Sorc were the big ones here)
      >Endgame had MMO style predatory "LOGIN NOW" time-sensitive content required for endgame (log in for world boss kills, log in at certain times to farm Helltides for 45 minutes for required crafting mats)
      >Stats like resistances don't work at all
      >Developers hilariously go from haughty we-know-better wannabe auteurs to browbeaten penitents because the game is dying hard and their jobs are now at risk

        Anonymous

        >Uniques barely shake things up
It's worse than that. Uniques either don't shake things up, or shake things up so much they are basically critical. So you are either stuck with
        >gear so important your character can't function without it
        >gear so shit that equipping it doesn't make a difference

          Anonymous

This is really what stopped me playing. What's the point in collecting gear if it's inconsequential? And even when it's mandatory collec gear is still inconsequential because you will forego any alternatives because it will brick your build. I couldn't even finish the campa once I realised this.

Biggest tragedy was I actually had genuine fun im open beta. First 20 levels with a kick barbarian felt engaging and gritty. But when you realise the game never evolves beyond those first 20 levels is when the boredom starts to hit ya. Enemy variety is abysmal too.

        Anonymous

        more
        >homosexual developers respond to lots of feedback regarding issues with "uhh yeah that will be fixed going forward into S1 (months away)" or even S fricking 2 which JUST released
        >At the same time, shop issues or progression exploits fixed in hours
        >Also, a $70 dollar game has a cosmetic cash shop with THIRTY DOLLAR PRICE TAGS. Path of Exile's prices are that obscene because the game is free
        >Also, the $70 dollar AAA game with a hilariously overpriced cosmetic shop has a paid battle pass system
        >Barebones and boring endgame seriously unimpressive when Path of Exile has arguably never been better in terms of a complete endgame experience so people have no reason to play D4
        >Legendary system (destroy legendary to get a copy of its effect, apply that effect to a yellow to make it a legendary) sounds cool but in practice means you have to inspect every single legendary and yellow that drop because you have to combine them all the time
        >homosexual developers, while the game is burning down, claim they will have frequent paid expansions (telling the entire playerbase they'll have to pay again if they want their game fixed a la D3)
        >Rod Ferguson
basically the developers are homosexuals, the story is terrible, the endgame is boring, your character feels the same at 100 as they do at 25, builds are both very narrow and very uninteresting, the game lacks bosses, nightmare dungeons are not fun to do, and D4 unlike D3 released in an era with plentiful and very good competition.
        Thus it's dead

friend gifted me a key and I'm so glad I didn't pay for this dogshit

I'm level 26 and finding it hard to continue. It's so fricking boring. I've played a sorcerer and rogue to around the same level and just can't find the will to go on. I don't have a lot of the aspects unlocked and I can see they will help with the EXTREME mana/energy issues but don't know if I care enough. Why do blizzard hate fun? I don't want le ebin 5D chess gameplay in my ARPG, I want to spam the same couple skills and feel like an unstoppable god mindlessly grinding loot. I don't give a frick about your story or your forced fricking cinematics before I can continue with a quest. I want to skip past a dialogue box and click things to death. It feels like Blizzard completely misunderstood why people play ARPGS.

So, does it get better if I continue or should I spit in my friend's face and hang myself?

Only Gabe wienersuckers use Steam so of course no one will play a Blizzard game on there.

Not that guy, but Diablo 4 sold 10 million copies according to their earnings report. It probably has 1 million players at the very minimum right now that S2 has just launched.

        >As of the end of the second quarter, Diablo IV had sold-through more units than any other Blizzard title at an equivalent stage of release. Over 10 million players experienced Diablo IV in June, playing for over 700 million hours, and retention trends for the title are particularly strong.

Anon, the numbers aren't a fricking lie. People will buy games based on hype alone. Lots of people bought Diablo IV only to quit playing it a month later.

Is Activision growing into a AAAA company? Or are they just on a slow decline, trying to keep their head above water by cannibalizing their previous successes and goodwill? Are there less and less buyers with each release? Are they making up for their losses? People do not buy games on "hype" alone.

It coming to Steam SHOULD have been a good thing. Unfortunately they did it in the stupidest way possible - "just buy another copy" - rather than giving players the option of a Destiny 2 style transition from BattleNet back in the day to Steam. Or even simpler, create a free to play demo mode to download the game etc.and if you sync it with an existing BattleNet account you can use the full game's content associated with an existing owner account. But no, they did the stupid, shortsighted method that fricks over existing players and somehow thinks its going to work. Even frickingOverwatch 2, that abortion, did better in this one regard because its a F2P shitstain and(I think) signing in with an existing Overwatch/Bnet account you can use all your old content.

Atop this, none of it fixes the real problems with the game's assfricking monetization and FOMO grindy battle pass season garbage. At very fricking least they should have made it possible to unlock old season content IF you bought the Premium version of the Season pass, but no they want FOMO and $30 outfits atop the premium super battle passs which you need to buy the super one to get a new emote or whatever the frick not in the regular premium pass etc. I knew that this would be shit when they had the Beta era Ashava or whatever the frick event one weekend where they made a "If you don't kill this one boss, during the one beta weekend you don't get the super fancy exclusive horse that shows you're a big dick chad" even before the game even went fricking live. They should have brought that shit back for the live game but NOOOOOO its all FOMO and exclusive and timegate and season lock and frick you sideways
    >but what about the seasons of D2/D3
Back when they were free and there was no "pass" , there were chances to get later shit you missed most of the time at least aesthetically when they were reused in later season etc. That's all aside from the premium, fomo, battle pass and other garbage

Part of the reason is Blizzard cultivating terrible fanbase. For example, big part of the recent positive announcement for Diablo 4 was the slight increase in EXP gaining. Blizzard fans do not want to play games for anything else than "end game". Single player content has to be balanced, because the players only wants the most optimal builts for maximum efficiency. Multiplayer games like Owie needs to assign players into the most suitable roles and report them if they deviate or else the team can't operate in it's ideal capacity.

That's because those people live exclusively on twitter. They do not know anything else. Thinking outside their curated, moderated thought bubble is anathema.
Asking on twitter instead of doing actual research is generating interactions, and those people are addicted to attention.

I actually don't see why this is getting so much hate. I'm playing it and it's just D3 with a D2R-type artstyle. There's nothing specifically wrong with it. The bosses are actually kind of neat even and I found a legendary that significantly changes my character's playstyle. I thought those were considered good things.

there's no spectacle. there's no bosses.
there's like 3 in the story then its over. every "endgame" dungeon feels like a basic MMO fetch quest with a open world elite at the end instead of a boss

there's no builds, itemization, there's no content to aspire to. there's no game design. these diversity hires can't even do basic math so how would they do any of that. do the same shitty chore-like instance spam so you get a higher percentage of vuln+crit so you can do the same shit at a higher "tier".

pivoted IMMEDIATELY into seasons; same game with 1 little dumb borrowed power system on top for a few months. as if, as fricking if, they had such a solid foundation and a wealth of content riches that all it would take to make it interesting each time you start a new ladder would be some different coloured mobs and a new gem. you don't, you have a badly made, poorly thought out made of shit that feels like you are constantly trying to appease criticisms with little buffs here and there, just to expose the fact that adjusting some crit and vuln numbers isn't going to make this a good game - but its all you fricking have.
