True and the ending for KH2 is pretty satisfying narratively, having the friends finally meet again, Riku and Sora becoming friends again for one of vidyas best final battles and having killed Xehanort. You didn't need more, no one actually cared what was in the bottle

Yep. I'm one of those folks too. KH-CoM-2 felt like an actual coherent trilogy.
That's because it is.
The original KH trilogy is KH1, CoM and KH2, with days a supplemental material.
The Dark seeker saga is BBS, DDD, and KH3, with coded, 0.2 and Dark Road as supplemental material.

The first game, though cheesy at times, was a heartfelt hero's journey adventure that though dark, actually had reason to be and wasn't try-hard. Also the Disney elements mattered
Now the series is a cynical, bleak psuedo-battle shounen with unnecessary retcons and asspulls every second that also advertises what Disney IPs are relevant at the time.

Because they go into the light together and from a western point of view that's like going into Heaven. People forget that the KH world doesn't have a Heaven, as far as I understand it the death process is

The last one is the only one I'm not 100% sure on. I know one of the Norts (Xemnas? Ansem?) said all hearts return to Kingdom Hearts and we see someone get killed by a Heartless on the first visit to Traverse Town in KH1.
You just know he's saving it for the final game, Kingdom hearts is definitely going to be it's own world, we've already been getting closer and closer with scala and the final world, it's obvious.
Too bad we'll never see it because dev times are getting longer and this series will never fricking end
I still feel like KH4 will be peak NomuraKino. Everything about the MoM and the Lost Master Arc so far has been some of the best writing the series has seen since KH2.

The entire final boss sequence was a massive disappointment and a piece of shit. Its was the only thing I had left hyped for and it made me depressed and left empty. I somehow feel more angry with kh3 than ffxv. Most soulless kingdom hearts game.
Goat nort was fine. Phase 1 and 3 are ass that only basic slash and projectile outside of the elaborate DM.
The fact Data Xehanort is so different because Base game forgot to make him use the X-Blade transformations, the main gimmick of the game, says everything

it went to shit when Nomura decided to revive everyone to placate the akuroku fujos. Roxas, Naminé, Xion, Axel, the entire Org. XIII, Ansem, etc. should have stayed fricking dead. they were clearly written to stay dead. now we have a hyper bloated cast that does nothing important and 90% of the characters are just there to appear in one scene and drop a cool one-liner for fans to go "UOOOOH ROXAS" it's boring as shit
