492 recruitable pokemon with no trade or event bullshit whatsoever. Pure, undistilled gameplay, a nice story anx a good challenge. A ridiculously autistic level of comprehension of the game's mechanics are needed to 100% this game and recruit every pokemon.
There will never be a pokemon game as good as this one.

Also post your ideas for PMD5, and if you think it'll ever actually happen
I'd love a pirate themed one where you explore the high seas and raid other ships and travel to islands and shit
I mean you're trying to avoid being in the water while sailing
Plus you can go buck wild with it, PMD is basically untouched in terms of lore
Why not airships or experimental fire type powered locomotives? Just go crazy with it
Sailing has been around for about as long as civilization
If you don't want anything advanced in poke society, I get that (and actually agree) but you gotta experiment a little
god i hate this dungeon with a passion. takes fricking hours to complete just because that one unown you need never spawns and when it spawns it dosent drops the rock
The dungeon is a horrible idea in nearly every way.
>zero threats in the dungeon >more pokemon on a floor's encounter table than can be encounters at once, meaning there's a 50/50 shot the unown you want won't even show up on a given floor >unown give next to no exp >low tier loot >unown only have a 25% chance to drop their stones >zero plot reason to come here in the first place other than your partner simping over Team Charm >if you want to recruit the Regis you need to get the stones each time, and you can't skip sections. Failed at getting Registeel? Better do the entire stone grind all over again >Suicidal enough to want to recruit specific unown? Any unown that doesn't correspond to a letter in ROCK/ICE/STEEL has a rock bottom encounter rate
Buried Relic at least had pretty high tier loot in the walls. Vitamins, Ginsengs, Life Seeds, Joy Seeds, a lot of good things in them that make the descent not feel as bad.
Aegis Cave has a few coins, if that.
>any (not weebshit) RPG that changes the game drastically based on the player's actions is better off as a movie
I get what you're trying to say but the way you said it is stupid
Also there's something to be said about experiencing a story compared to just viewing it, if you know what I mean
It's not my fault Japan sucks, the prideful pagan government worshipping pedos
I like PMD and Ranger, and that's about it
Can't stand turn based RPGs, jrps are just especially egregious
it's fun, the original is still good and free on DS but it's got a lot of early-series weirdness. Stuff like level having a gigantic effect on damage dealt/taken outside of stats, HM's, and overly rare pokemon like Exeggcute (1 floor of the game, .6% spawn rate)
Well, let me ask you this.
What would you do if an almighty time dragon god, fueled by primal rage courtesy of Black personman, killed almost all of the planet's inhabitants, tells you to stop this leaf dude, what would you do?
It's better than Gates but not as good as the DS games or even the Rescue Team remake. Recruitment was a real mess that led to baffling situations like Wooper being postgame, but Victini being the third recruit.
If you play it, use the No Breaks hack.
Honestly forgot Gates was a thing because I hardly hear anyone talking about it. >use the No Breaks hack
Is it literally called No Breaks? Because I can't find it on Google.
Pretty much anything they added is either of little to no consequence (the future dungeon revisits have nothing you cannot get anywhere and are lore-breaking) or so late into the game that it may as well not matter. Fairy type barely changes a thing, and the hack does nothing to address many of the minor issues the vanilla game had.
Plus the fact that they thought this was better than the vanilla artwork should say where their priories were.
still blows my mind that anyone would think that's a good idea.
Also save for the stuff in that shitty pic the starters are all the basic b***h vanilla choices you've probably used way too much by this point.
Certainly
I still prefer PMd blue/red
Storywise, probably

Explorer's is great but it's very overrated and not even the peak of the Mystery Dungeon games
What's the peak, then?
Super
Gameplay wise? Unfortunately not. Story wise? Without question.

It's not such a good idea as you think. Only water and flying pokemon would work
I mean you're trying to avoid being in the water while sailing
Plus you can go buck wild with it, PMD is basically untouched in terms of lore

Because the appeal of pmd is for our instincts to return to older times. I don't want technology. Frick off.

>older times
people have been making boats for as far back as recorded history exists
It is accomplished.
god i hate this dungeon with a passion. takes fricking hours to complete just because that one unown you need never spawns and when it spawns it dosent drops the rock
not anymore, made it so the rock always opens regardless of if you have stones or not
Never found it to be THAT bad
You can check which Pokemon spawn in the dungeon, and see if the Unowns you want can spawn in the floor

Oh, yeah, it's fricking abysmal
But it doesn't take that long to just get it out of the way
Maybe I'm biased because I don't want to do Ancient Ruin's 99F again
Buried Relic at least had pretty high tier loot in the walls. Vitamins, Ginsengs, Life Seeds, Joy Seeds, a lot of good things in them that make the descent not feel as bad.

Games that favor story over gameplay might as well be a movie

I will never understand the people who play pokemon but still complain about "weebshit".
Black person do you know what country this series is from?

Pokemon hasn't been a Japanese franchise since Gen 4.
Oh wow, what western company did TPC sell the rights to?
Is mystery dungeon dx good for a beginner to the series?

Yes. The only flaw i see in it is too many flashbacks, but it's rather normal for ds games of that time.
Why did he do it, bros?
Because despite being a Ghost Type, he wanted to live. He wanted to know what drove Grovyle.
Well, let me ask you this.
What would you do if an almighty time dragon god, fueled by primal rage courtesy of Black personman, killed almost all of the planet's inhabitants, tells you to stop this leaf dude, what would you do?
Literally just didn't want to die.
Is Super worth playing? I remember trying to pick it up ages ago, but the tutorial just felt like it'd never end.

are there any difficulty or QoL hacks for gates? want to replay it, but i remember it being far too easy
Is the Explorer of Skies hack any good? Fairy type, Espurr, and Arceus intigue me.
*Intrigued

My god.
Pokemon if it real.
still blows my mind that anyone would think that's a good idea.

I hear horror stories about actually trying to use PMD's soundfont for yourself. What's so bad about it? I wanted to take a crack at it.
