It died the moment Bethesda bought it and Todd said that it was a funny game because it was violent, and compared it to Jackass.
NV then gave people hope that Bethesda would learn from the feedback of the game and try to bring the series back to it's roots but didn't.
Then when Fallou4 became their best selling game of all time it and that was the confirmation they needed to never go back.
Get some mods that change the gameplay.
Here's what I use: >x3 more randon animal/enemu spawns >x2 the enviormental rads and x20 the rads in the Glowing Sea >1/2 XP gain >1/2 ammo drops >1/2 cap drops >higher minlevel for most areas, no more finding LV1 Raiders everywhere >AP regens way slower in combat, no more constant VATS spam unless you have an AGI build >can't eat more than 3 foods every per hour
More Spawns (adds a bunch of extra spawns of bears, wolves, radscorps and even Deathclaws)
NPCs Travel (add a bunch of traveling npcs from all factions, including Synths, Raiders, Mechanist robots that travel on the main road)
True Storms (has a rad setting for the glowing sea + random rad storms)
Adjusted Encounter Zones (higher level enemies on average)
You stupid idiot, fallout was fricking dead until Bethesda revived it.
You can thank Todd for your precious new Vegas, which btw was completely shit on at release for being more broken and buggy than any Bethesda game.
Boomers too. I've been on gaming forums since the late '90s, and prior to Fallout 3, discussions about those games were rare outside of the official forums. Even today, Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics are the least talked about games in the series despite all the exposure they received thanks to modern titles.

There are many fan projects like this for example:
https://jonasz-o.itch.io/fallout2remake3d
I just wish Bethesda would sell the IP. To InXile for example. But they'll never happen I guess.

It's always so obvious when a zoomie tries to pull a larp here kek
You can cope all you want, but Fallout 1 and 2 were just mediocre and super easy when compared to Baldur's Gate and Planescape: Torment.
Only after Fallout 3 launched they resurged a bit, but even all that exposure wasn't enough to make people care about them.

Very entertaining thought considering they were better than many rpgs then and even better than "rpgs" now.
>considering they were better than many rpgs
No. Not even Ganker, /fog/ or /vr/ talk about them anymore. Meanwhile we have daily Fallout 3, New Vegas and 4 here. Admit it, Fallout 1 and 2 were extremely forgettable.

Microsoft owns both Inxile and Fallout. If they want Inxile to make a Fallout game they will. I can't see a reason to put a flagship IP in the hands of a second tier studio but they could if they wanted.
>fallout was fricking dead until Bethesda revived it.
Should've stayed dead after Van Buren was finished.
If you're not paid by bethesda PR to post here, have a nice day
If you are paid by bethesda PR to post here, eat shit and have a nice day.
My main issue with FO4 is that it seems like such a waste of potential, Take the Railroad for example they could be easily reworked into a group thats generally looking to take down the Institute and the synth stuff can be secondary. Make them more like the secret Jame Bond operators they’re supposed to be as well. With missions that are geared more towards stealth and subterfuge maybe have one where you have to disguise yourself and look for an escaped synth in a settlement before an Institute infiltrator gets to them. Also make the Switchboard their HQ it was cute what they did with the Old North Church but it really just felt out of place especially since the switchboard is a lot cooler and makes more sense maybe the church could be set up as a safe house or something. I have ideas for the others as well if anyone wants to hear them.
I fricking hope so. New Vegas fans are the cancer of the internet. I hope they replace fallout with a starfield spinoff that plays on a post apocalyptic earth. That way they could make a fallout like game without having to deal with the schizo fans.
3 was an objectively shit game that a lot of people praised because of the time it came out, even so it'd be moronic to pretend Bethesda did nothing for the franchise with it because, as was said before, NV wouldn't exist without it. Still, it's easy to acknowledge they brought it back to life and helped it thrive while understanding that they aren't responsible for the series' highs and will likely continue to put out its absolute lows.
As a modder of all Bethesda games: I hope so. Frick fallout as a setting, frick the kid in fridge quest, frick synth politics, frick neo-deco-60s art style, frick joke factions, frick le wacky vault experiments, frick visual story telling. There's probably more, but everything from Bethesda brand fallout is dogshit (including new vegas).
I had the best experience with it because I used that week 1 exploit that let you get infininte scrap/metal/wood/etc. so I never had to worry about resources. Would just sell them gradually for caps and infinite $$$$$$$$ to buy all the water and shit I wanted. Game was fun
I wonder if whitespring nuke farming is still a thing these days, I'd imagine not but I actually had fun joining parties and just mass farming the ghouls and deathclaws there for EXP during nuke fallout. >make an intricate system were players can blow up their rivals >everyone just spot targets the same fricking resort over and over for gains
based
I hope they won't just do "American city theme park" for FO5. Like they do a larger region with interconnected communities. Since having a ton of empty filler space would be boring, just make them connected via something else
Don't know what to tell you. Todd mentioned is recently, as part of the company's future after Starfield and TESVI. By every metric Bethesda would care about FO4 was their most successful game. So, yeah. It's going to happen.
I dunno anon, I'm getting really tired of looking at that same fricking engine. I love the game but it's still ugly as shit no matter how many mods you throw at it.
New Vegas is/will be the VTM:Bloodlines of the new generation. You'll wait your whole life for a sequel that either will never come or it'll be a broken mess with no hope of measuring to the original.
>hyped for FO4 >play it >turns out it's even worse than 3
It really felt like getting shot through the heart. If gimping the RPG mechanics and dialogue options wasn't bad enough but holy frick that story was beyond moronic.
It's a bad shooter and a bad RPG with an even shittier story to boot. There is no point in playing it because there are games who do either or both elements 100 times better.
I think it's worth it, but you could probably get the jist of what you do in the game but just watching some youtube vids of it.
I don't really care about the Fallout lore or lorehomosexualry in general so it's my favorite Fallout game.
I played it very recently. It started off really badly, to the point I was on the verge of ditching it. Then I did Far Harbour, which was a lot better - definitely worth the price of admission. Then I did some other bits and bobs and went to Nuka-World, which was shit enough to make me finally bin the game. The main quest is shit btw.
I would say if you get it heavily reduced, it's worth the price of admission to get through the beginning, go do Far Harbour, and then set it aside.
It was then Bethesda saved it from the scrapheap of history. Imagine if the creators of Fallout had an ounce of talent they would created a license to print money.
After saving it from incompetence Bethesda turned it into a powerhouse.
It likely is in its current state, the next game will probably be at least a decade away considering how they have barely even started on skyrim 2 yet. Todd will likely be dead by the time Fallout 4-2 comes out.
Been that way since after the last NV dlc came out. Literally nothing truly good has come from Fallout since then beyond mods and the like, even if I like 4 more than 3 it's still a trash game.
Pretty much. No new Fallout in at least a decade.
It died the moment Bethesda bought it and Todd said that it was a funny game because it was violent, and compared it to Jackass.

I'd like FO4 more if it wasn't so damn easy.

the first two and the raider min level sound great, name of the mods?
More Spawns (adds a bunch of extra spawns of bears, wolves, radscorps and even Deathclaws)

bethesda never revived fallout, they just made a gun mod to lolblivion .
And yet, without them, Fallout 1 and 2 would have been forgotten as just another random isometric RPGs from the 90s.
Forgotten by whom? Zoomer shitters?
Boomers too. I've been on gaming forums since the late '90s, and prior to Fallout 3, discussions about those games were rare outside of the official forums. Why are you angry a competent studio bought the IP and made it into something beloved by fans?
then 76 came out and sold even more. god, i hate Black person cattles.
I sure hope so.
Fallout is one of my favorite series and yes
Fallout 4 survival is a extremely fun and I play it often so no it’s not
which build is the most fun for survival?
Bloodied melee. You oneshot everything and everything oneshots you.

They killed it with F76.
It's been dead for decades.
God i hope so
well think of it this way op, in all this time you've also gotten three new Wasteland games.
I fricking hope so. New Vegas fans are the cancer of the internet. I hope they replace fallout with a starfield spinoff that plays on a post apocalyptic earth. That way they could make a fallout like game without having to deal with the schizo fans.
gaming is dead
The next Fallout probably won't be directed by Todd.
3 was an objectively shit game that a lot of people praised because of the time it came out, even so it'd be moronic to pretend Bethesda did nothing for the franchise with it because, as was said before, NV wouldn't exist without it. Fallout comes after Elder Scrolls. Elder Scrolls comes after Starfield. Most likely 2030 at the earliest.
As a modder of all Bethesda games: I hope so. Get filtered, you pleb b***h. Your whole preamble of being a modder won't give credibility to your shit opinion.
76 is actually good now but Gamers™ are so fickle because it had a bad launch it's forever tainted.
I had the best experience with it because I used that week 1 exploit that let you get infininte scrap/metal/wood/etc. so I never had to worry about resources. Would just sell them gradually for caps and infinite $$$$$$$$ to buy all the water and shit I wanted. Game was fun
>76 is actually good
>Fallout 4 but with restricted modding, more bugs and worse optimization
>good
delusion
I wonder if whitespring nuke farming is still a thing these days, I'd imagine not but I actually had fun joining parties and just mass farming the ghouls and deathclaws there for EXP during nuke fallout.

yes.

Bethesda "fallout" is just oblivion with radiation as magic
Last game was in 1998, so yeah
Series should have ended with 2, everything after that was just to make money
No, Todd referenced FO5 somewhat recently so they'll make it at some point
I hope not. FO4 was a dumpster fire. Even 3 is a better game.
Don't know what to tell you. Todd mentioned is recently, as part of the company's future after Starfield and TESVI. By every metric Bethesda would care about FO4 was their most successful game. So, yeah. It's going to happen.
>FO4: New Vegas never ever.
With each year there are less and less reasons for FO4NV to exist.
NV modding is simply better than 4.
I dunno anon, I'm getting really tired of looking at that same fricking engine. I love the game but it's still ugly as shit no matter how many mods you throw at it.

> RPG mechanics
Biggest non argument argument there is.
VTM:B is the VTM:B of the new generation
Is Fallout 4 worth playing?
Only with the right mindset. It is not a RPG. Treat it like an action looter shooter. Also only get it on sale with the dlcs.
It's a bad shooter and a bad RPG with an even shittier story to boot. There is no point in playing it because there are games who do either or both elements 100 times better.
It is all you said BUT it's a themepark for you to mod and play your power fantasy. Just putting on the table how to approach it.
Mods still can't fix how shit it is.
Doesn't mean you can't have fun in it.
Why would they start now?
I think it's worth it, but you could probably get the jist of what you do in the game but just watching some youtube vids of it.

The next TES game comes out in 2028 so it would have to be at least 2034 until the next Fallout game
It was then Bethesda saved it from the scrapheap of history. Imagine if the creators of Fallout had an ounce of talent they would created a license to print money.
After saving it from incompetence Bethesda turned it into a powerhouse.
