100% this. The game is degenerate enough with mods being "don't ask, don't tell", even if they're officially not allowed at all. If Yoshi-P opens the door on this just a tiny bit the floodgates will stream open and the game will become absolutely unusable
The only acceptable mods are voidlist, pvp combo, and glam remover. Modders are like white people. Give them an inch and they'll force you to conform to their ways

Use your brain for half a second. Mods are always frowned upon by devs, especially in live service games, for two reasons.
1: People can cheat.
2: People can mod things that they would otherwise charge the player for, like your example.
Also OP has confused "support" with "ability to do so". 90% of FFXIVs mods are client side, or entirely restricted to only users of those mods. Square have not officially sanctioned a single mod, ever, and the only reason they don't aggressively ban for it is they don't install anything that detects it.

The interesting thing about FFXIV modding was that we were always looking for new pieces to mod, instead of having 50 different designs for that thavnairian dress. Thus when SE releases a new glam set, people would make mods for it, driving up sales. It doesn't have to be all bad. Modding is a tool.
it was extremely telling when the biggest applause of the recent FanFest was the glamour chest storage expansion. The vast majority of XIV endgame players are just glamour prostitutes and gshade bawds. That doesn't even account for all the EB/ERP degeneracy that happens non-stop

Contrast was the first word I was going to use but realized that's not it - a proper skirt, with a nice, flat bottom hemline is what works with that top, not the jagged spikes of the one you have on. Collegiate Skirt comes to mind, but I'd have to see how it looks with the shirt. I might look for others later.

The equipment menu is the same damn one it's always been and the same one every MMO and some RPGs have. Paper doll with gear slots. What exactly do mods do to fix these two issues? No mod adds belts, no mod changes how the Equipment Menu looks/works.
When they removed belts, the gear menu was rearranged slightly because a gear slot was now removed, people didn't like it and modded it back into the right order.
I've never seen this mod but that is indeed INCREDIBLY nitpicky if it does exist. Like...it's fricking even now. Who the frick cares? Nit. Pick. y.

It's pretty normal tbh, when they removed belts, the amount of slots on each side of the character screen was uneven. The mods just puts the job stone above the gear so the 2 sides of gear have the same amount of slots now.

I never really got the complaints. The UI seems fine enough to me, and the only real UI mod I installed just changes the health and MP bars to some other video game's health bar system. I did install an Ocean Fishing mod though so I didn't have to constantly look at a guide just to remember what shitty bait to use on the trip.

I think hybridizing modern and fantasy works for some classes, redmage , mch and to a lesser degree gunbreaker and bluemage fit the bill for me.
white and blackmage should for the most part remain full traditionalist unless you're drawing from like, say sadu style eastern black magic or whatever.

personally i'm a fan of femelezens but to every anon wanting to show their glams i recommend maybe a gpose out of it. this preview feature doesn't do justice to some glams + gpose could have wols posing with their weapons which imo are a great complement for a glam and in some cases a cool weapon leads to a glam that matches it.

Long and monotonous GCD sequence that weaves constantly, Dragon Sight is awkward, and Jumps aren't impactful feeling + Spineshatter Dive and Dragonfire Dive are extremely underwhelming skills
Weaving is a conscious choice of FFXIV by having OCGDs by the dozen and a long GCD window.
What are they gonna do? Rework stuff to remove any sort of double weaving as much as possible?
DRG should be slower and more impactful, and more focused on jumps. That's how it feels in past games. You take twice the time for your turn to do twice the damage with jumps.

This would probably go better than the first version of Shoha did where it was charged for an attack as an attempted "boss fricked off" mechanic like Anatman and a reference to Cyan's Bushido, but unless its potency is one of the most singularly strong attacks in the whole game at full charge it'll run into the same problem Shoha did where it's not worth it to use no matter the charge

This is what 1.0/2.0 Dragoon was going for, Jump was way too slow as a result + this iteration of dragoon doesn't have that iconic invulnerability from past games so best outcome should be removing "lock" to smooth jumps and leave speed as it is.
You don't need the animation lock. Just make the jumps more important and overall slow down the job's weaving so it feels like you're going in for powerful precision strikes.
Gunbreaker and Drk weave a whole fricking lot, too.
Granted, tanking is way easier than dps in keeping the rotation itself going. You’re doing different things during a fight.
Dragoon's weaving is all over the place and literally all of its Job features past its basic GCD sequence inherited from Lancer are intended to be a weave, whether in or out of burst

I am one of the biggest Dragoon fanboys you'll ever meet and I'm excited for the rework, both because I've been playing the game for years so I'm gonna welcome a change of pace, and because I agree that it needs a rework just on its own merits. They've said themselves that Dragoon is supposed to be a "beginner" melee DPS and the one which all others are compared against as a yardstick, and its current mechanical leanings don't go well for that. Really Samurai is more what I'd look for as a "baseline" DPS than Dragoon in terms of comparative mechanical complexity.

Min sks does exactly that, it replaces all sks melds for dhit. In non full uptime fights the higher chance to dhit is more dps than getting more hits in because of how ridiculous the scaling is.
I only picked up the job recently so I'm not great yet. I remelded this week and got a 68 parse on p12s reclear so I'm happy with it. I wish speed builds were more viable

TF3 is a very old body at this point, and TitanFirm the guy who made it, kind of disappeared from the scene almost entirely, he hasn't made anything new in a VERY long time I think. A lot of stuff seems to be Bibo+/YAB+/Bimbo+ for female bodies and not a whole lot of TF3. There's still some holdouts like StrigonOne who does game/anime ports only in the TF3 body but there's universal texture support between the bodies for the most part so it's not like using one body means you can't use mods from a different one.
Example, this isn't a YAB+ mod (I removed some weird hip armor plate that didn't make any sense and bothered me) but it works fine.

Use your brain for half a second. Mods are always frowned upon by devs, especially in live service games, for two reasons.
1: People can cheat.
2: People can mod things that they would otherwise charge the player for, like your example.
Also OP has confused "support" with "ability to do so". 90% of FFXIVs mods are client side, or entirely restricted to only users of those mods. Square have not officially sanctioned a single mod, ever, and the only reason they don't aggressively ban for it is they don't install anything that detects it.

The interesting thing about FFXIV modding was that we were always looking for new pieces to mod, instead of having 50 different designs for that thavnairian dress. Thus when SE releases a new glam set, people would make mods for it, driving up sales. It doesn't have to be all bad. Modding is a tool.

Yes, it's mostly AI, but the key is to do it in patches, that way you can get highly detailed results while avoiding glitches and errors.
The OP pic is a combination of 4 img2img chunks. I used the animerge checkpoint, the frontend I use is NMKD, since it makes the workflow I use very easy.
- I use the selection tool in photoshop with 768x768 dimensions to capture parts of the screenshot
- Hit CTRL+V in the frontend, then set it to 0.5 img strength
- Once I see a result that's glitchless, I copy that image, paste it back into the Photoshop document (that still has that selection marker open)
- I then use my layer mask action, after which I brush in the AI square to hide the edges and blend it in
That's all there is to it. Takes about 10 minutes or so.

Contrast was the first word I was going to use but realized that's not it - a proper skirt, with a nice, flat bottom hemline is what works with that top, not the jagged spikes of the one you have on. Collegiate Skirt comes to mind, but I'd have to see how it looks with the shirt. I might look for others later.

The equipment menu is the same damn one it's always been and the same one every MMO and some RPGs have. Paper doll with gear slots. What exactly do mods do to fix these two issues? No mod adds belts, no mod changes how the Equipment Menu looks/works.
When they removed belts, the gear menu was rearranged slightly because a gear slot was now removed, people didn't like it and modded it back into the right order.
I've never seen this mod but that is indeed INCREDIBLY nitpicky if it does exist. Like...it's fricking even now. Who the frick cares? Nit. Pick. y.
It's pretty normal tbh, when they removed belts, the amount of slots on each side of the character screen was uneven. The mods just puts the job stone above the gear so the 2 sides of gear have the same amount of slots now.

I never really got the complaints. The UI seems fine enough to me, and the only real UI mod I installed just changes the health and MP bars to some other video game's health bar system. I did install an Ocean Fishing mod though so I didn't have to constantly look at a guide just to remember what shitty bait to use on the trip.

If you pick modern glam pieces then you pigeonhole yourself into modern glam because that's what it goes with. Otherwise you end up looking like you do and half your set clashes with the other half. Long and monotonous GCD sequence that weaves constantly, Dragon Sight is awkward, and Jumps aren't impactful feeling + Spineshatter Dive and Dragonfire Dive are extremely underwhelming skills
Weaving is a conscious choice of FFXIV by having OCGDs by the dozen and a long GCD window.

DRG should be slower and more impactful, and more focused on jumps. That's how it feels in past games. You take twice the time for your turn to do twice the damage with jumps.

Animation lock is fine if the rest of Dragoon's kip is slow enough that you can make such decisions, it is not slow enough to make those decisions
One anon offered an idea based on the PvP limit break where you jump in the air and the longer you stay up the longer you charge your damage, but without invulnerability. I thought that was a great idea. No animation lock because you can still move around, but you're charging and charging for BIG damage. Pre-jump ahead of time to line it up with party buffs.

This would probably go better than the first version of Shoha did where it was charged for an attack as an attempted "boss fricked off" mechanic like Anatman and a reference to Cyan's Bushido, but unless its potency is one of the most singularly strong attacks in the whole game at full charge it'll run into the same problem Shoha did where it's not worth it to use no matter the charge

This is what 1.0/2.0 Dragoon was going for, Jump was way too slow as a result + this iteration of dragoon doesn't have that iconic invulnerability from past games so best outcome should be removing "lock" to smooth jumps and leave speed as it is.
You don't need the animation lock. Just make the jumps more important and overall slow down the job's weaving so it feels like you're going in for powerful precision strikes.
It isn't the fact that Dragoons weave, it's how fricking much they weave.
Gunbreaker and Drk weave a whole fricking lot, too.

Dragoon's weaving is all over the place and literally all of its Job features past its basic GCD sequence inherited from Lancer are intended to be a weave, whether in or out of burst

I am one of the biggest Dragoon fanboys you'll ever meet and I'm excited for the rework, both because I've been playing the game for years so I'm gonna welcome a change of pace, and because I agree that it needs a rework just on its own merits. They've said themselves that Dragoon is supposed to be a "beginner" melee DPS and the one which all others are compared against as a yardstick, and its current mechanical leanings don't go well for that. Really Samurai is more what I'd look for as a "baseline" DPS than Dragoon in terms of comparative mechanical complexity.
Don't forget MNK got a much better rework on the same expansion.

if spread, everyone goes to the quadrant marked 2 (2 balls) of their half of the arena, and the blue bubble debuff guys try to land on the final safe zone
if stack, people with the yellow boot debuff (bind) go the quadrant marked 1 (1 ball) of their half into the final safe zone, bubble blue debuff do the same as spread

If you become close to them you will catch glimpses of the volatility lurking beneath their patchwork mask of cool indifference. I was playing the medium speed samurai but I didn't like some lineups in the fight I'm doing so I decided to remeld. I used to play 1.93 MNK so given the choice between slow and fast naturally I want to zoom. It's a blast. Whereas I know I'd not be having fun with the slow gcd
I love fastSAM but it feels so bad being so behind because the lv. 90 meta is so crit heavy, in some fights the best sks is base (2.17).
I imagine it's gotta feel bad either way. if you don't get a direct crit, your ogi's like 30k less damage.
Min sks does exactly that, it replaces all sks melds for dhit. In non full uptime fights the higher chance to dhit is more dps than getting more hits in because of how ridiculous the scaling is.

Full SPEED in lv 70 ultimates is so fun. Ogi feels good to press but it really pushed the crit/dh dependence off the rails.
Thing about DRG is you end up weaving a lot. I find that RPR's Enshroud is so fast it really clashes with it's tempo. Meanwhile idk wtf NIN does.

TF3 is a very old body at this point, and TitanFirm the guy who made it, kind of disappeared from the scene almost entirely, he hasn't made anything new in a VERY long time I think. A lot of stuff seems to be Bibo+/YAB+/Bimbo+ for female bodies and not a whole lot of TF3. There's still some holdouts like StrigonOne who does game/anime ports only in the TF3 body but there's universal texture support between the bodies for the most part so it's not like using one body means you can't use mods from a different one.
Example, this isn't a YAB+ mod (I removed some weird hip armor plate that didn't make any sense and bothered me) but it works fine.
