    I like this game but
    >story is disjointed and just an errand boy simulator
    >no variety on the map, just concrete city
    >missions are just shooting galleries for the most part
    >driving is unfun and you can't go top speed and turn without losing control

Almost like driving in real life.

        >you can't go top speed and turn without losing control
you just exposed yourself as a zoom

        >driving is unfun
Not true. Once you get the hang of it and start fricking around it can be incredibly fun.

I think driving is unfun in the context of races. The driving is otherwise fun in police chases amd shootouts for example

I would agree with that. The races aren't horrible but they are some of the least fun missions in the game, especially the one in TBOGT.

its only unfun because they are too easy to win since you can just show up in a sultan rs and the other racers have some garbage saloon or econobox.
the airport run is pretty good though, its got that great stretch after the left hander entering near the terminal, dukes run also has a good stretch and some nice sharp turns you can power slide through

      literally every GTA game

Gta 5 had you doing your own heists and missions. You did some errand missions but they weren't the whole game

      >story is disjointed and just an errand boy simulator
Cant truly argue against that. At least the errands are usually justified by story; they are not pointless
      >no variety on the map, just concrete city
Thats the best part of it. GTA 4's liberty city unironically mogs every other open world game with an urban setting of its generation, and in some ways, it even looks better than GTA V's cities.
      >missions are just shooting galleries for the most part
True. There is no real mission variety
      >driving is unfun, and you can't go top speed and turn without losing control
Driving is fun, however whats with the cars that randomly go out of their lane in order to make you fall from your bike? I usually notice that shit happening on bridges.

It's a fantastic game with the most realistic driving in the series. I understand why a lot of people prefer the arcady driving though.

What's the best way to play gta 4 now

PC with DXVK to reduce stutters and locked at 60fps so you don't get physics glitches. Push it to the highest resolution your computer can handle

Steam PC? Thought they messed with shit and took away songs and missions like the others.

You can downgrade the steam version and still run it with mods and the radio stations back, but I think you have to disable auto updates and the r* cuck launcher always tries to frick up your install
It's best to get a pirated version of 1.0.8.0 for max compatibility. The later versions didn't fix bugs or anything just removed licenced content and forced their israelite launcher

i just played complete edition with fusion fix, zolika, radio downgrader, and some very easy ini edits. worked like a charm. only minor issue was i had to cap cutscene fps at 50-ish because for whatever reason the camera would start acting weird. actual gameplay stayed at 60 the whole time. you can't go over 60 as it will break physics as far as i have read.
for older classic mods you might have to downgrade to an older version but you can alwasy use dxvk if needed. either way you go you can always get the music back but i usually use the personal station because the ads and dj are hilarious.

If there's not a thing out there still that simply restores missing content, I guess I'll go fishing.

Niko is still the best GTA protagonist.

It was the beginning of the end.
    >past games had protags that were just murderous criminals, sure they would help their friends but they had no moral dilemmas, they were bad
    >niko is a mass murdering war criminal bent on murdering the man that wronged him, who shoots police and runs over pedestrians, but he's just a troubled guy with good intentions :^)!
    >driving physics are pretty cool but they went to far in some places and not far enough in others

    >boring grey and brown world (this was common for that time period of games)
    >HEY NIKO LET'S GO BOWLING

It was a step down from san andreas

I think Niko is good as a GTA protaganist because he's so far gone after the war that he no longer cares about living a decent life. If the player runs over a pedestrian or blows up a vehicle then it makes sense for a guy like Niko who doesn't care about "right and wrong" anymore.
