Definitely. If you are coming in fresh even the f2p game has hundreds of hours of content but I would strongly recommend getting at least the first 2 expansions so you aren't restricted. But as far as f2p trials go GW2 is pretty generous.
If you like exploration and leveling, that's what gw2 does best. There's a lot of endgame stuff to do but imo the best part of the game is going through and experiencing everything for the first time.
Give it 3-5 hours and if you don't like it by then it probably isn't for you. Fortunately it isn't one of those games that takes 100 hours to get good.

this is really only viable in pvp modes and more so wvw than structured pvp
mesmer and necromancer (especially scourge) are much more focused on being ranged casters
well, you're picking the non-mage playstyles within the classes themselves
scourge is all about casting area spells and control/support, they primarily use staff and scepter which are necromancer's caster weapons
mesmer with a staff is 100% a mage, even more so if you go with something like a mirage
personally, I prefer necromancer because their staff can actually do a lot of AOE damage

In everquest it literally did. Warrior Enchanter Cleric. It formed the baseline and core of every group. You could go otherwise, but that was the baseline from which everything grew.
Trinity refers to 3 roles. Healer, Tank, DPS. It's made for matchmaking and has no advantages over a more traditional, TTRPG inspired role system like Everquest or FF11 used.

Guild Wars 1 basically had only DPS and healers since there were only very limited ways to control aggro. Granted, some DPS were tankier than others, but it was mostly up to the mitigation healers to prevent you from getting one-tapped by high level mobs.
The problem I have with this game is inventory management, the game throws so much shit at you, its totally the oppossite of FFXIV, in FFXIV the transmog/glamour system is trash and all my inventory is gear for each job, meanwhile, GW2 has an amazing transmog system but too many items

I tried to come back to it in 2020 having play the year of its launch and couldn't remember shit. I couldn't even remember how to do the inventory to unfuck my full bags. Game had some cool ideas in its day though even if it didn't always stick the landing.
Its fun enough. Plenty to do if you want to play for thousands of hours and get everything. A couple good content creators have made solid videos about how to build up an account.
I doubt the FtP experience is worth it though. At minimum I'd buy into the expansions, and get them on sale at that. Despite them adding mounts for all players the base game is aging and all the better content is in the expacs.
If you're willing to spend the dosh I'd also get the seasons stuff. Without them you won't understand any of the story, with just the expacs you literally lurch from the end of one campaign to having a gaggle of new characters who talk about stuff you haven't seen because you are expected to have played the seasons and its jarring as fuck. The season also have a lot of ways to get certain gear easier.
If you have all that stuff you have probably over 300 hours of just story stuff to do, so even if you play alone and never touch the mmo content you'll have enough.
I thought it was fun to potter around in.
Classes are pretty fun although the expansion subclasses are so superior to the base classes in both design and gameplay that it's not even funny, once you unlock an expansion class playing a base class again feels like sticking glass in your fingers.
The story was I would say above average at least mostly. The main story for the base game is 'wrath but without Blizzard being shit at writing', although they do this weird thing where there's an entirely separate dungeon-only story that's simultaneously completely separate but actually very important to the main story. Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire are both very good. I gave up during ice brood saga because it was clear they were out of ideas and trying to smear too little across to much content.
I have no idea about the fantasy korea expansion.

The new expansion shows the game has barely a budget anymore The new two maps are just floating islands with recycled assets, no new mounts, I really doubt the game will get more of these mini expansions
But for now, the game has good population to give it a try
I tried to come back to it in 2020 having play the year of its launch and couldn't remember shit. I couldn't even remember how to do the inventory to unfuck my full bags. Game had some cool ideas in its day though even if it didn't always stick the landing.

Its fun enough. Plenty to do if you want to play for thousands of hours and get everything. A couple good content creators have made solid videos about how to build up an account.
I doubt the FtP experience is worth it though. At minimum I'd buy into the expansions, and get them on sale at that. Despite them adding mounts for all players the base game is aging and all the better content is in the expacs.
If you're willing to spend the dosh I'd also get the seasons stuff. Without them you won't understand any of the story, with just the expacs you literally lurch from the end of one campaign to having a gaggle of new characters who talk about stuff you haven't seen because you are expected to have played the seasons and its jarring as fuck. The season also have a lot of ways to get certain gear easier.
If you have all that stuff you have probably over 300 hours of just story stuff to do, so even if you play alone and never touch the mmo content you'll have enough.
Another question: is Wow Classic worth it?

Classes are pretty fun although the expansion subclasses are so superior to the base classes in both design and gameplay that it's not even funny, once you unlock an expansion class playing a base class again feels like sticking glass in your fingers.
The story was I would say above average at least mostly. The main story for the base game is 'wrath but without Blizzard being shit at writing', although they do this weird thing where there's an entirely separate dungeon-only story that's simultaneously completely separate but actually very important to the main story. Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire are both very good. I gave up during ice brood saga because it was clear they were out of ideas and trying to smear too little across to much content.
I have no idea about the fantasy korea expansion.

At least in GW2 Zhaitan had a plan that actually involved trying to win and was actually winning in certain areas and the pact actually has a plan to kill him back. It's nowhere near as good as Hot of PoF but it's not 'bad' by mmo standards
