He's objectively more interesting than the non-characters that were the GTA1/2/London protagonists and the Advanced MC whose name I don't even remember. Other than that he'd rank lower than any other protagonist sans Trevor. At least the *idea* for Franklin is cool enough, a black dude that wants out of the hood and dreams of something higher while his gangbang friends try to bring him down 'cause "muh 90s muh hood" past glories. End of the day even with the horrible execution, that's more interesting than Trevor "crazy cannibal hillbilly" Philips.
Probably. He starts off sort of ok but just like the rest of GTA V, it all stays the same and goes nowhere. Zero character development to be had.

If trevor didnt have as many outbursts, like talking to those two married c**ts in their apartments, then I think hed be much more likeable. Also if the game wasnt split between three protagonists and was solely focused on Franklin having to deal with all his shit and being stuck between Trevor and Michael as they go through their failing relationship would have been a much better story if you ask me.
franklin has no role in the game. hes a side character and his plot is a side plot

Franklin’s a whiny bootlicking and selfish b***h. Yeah, he has some correct points about the hood and gang hierarchy, but giving up your friends and family by ass-kissing two white guys all just so you could live up a lonely and empty mansion while surrounded by vain people too self-absorbed to give a damn about you?
Man, Rockstar nailed it with the set piece in story mode, but then they had to throw that all out the window for Franklin’s DLC with Dr. Dre. Now his ex, who berated him for his selfishness, divorced her doctor husband just to get back with Franklin AND have kids with him? He didn’t deserve it.
Still not as awful as Trevor, though.
