As someone who's played through both Genshin and this game twice over, It's somehow even worse than Genshin. The writing, gameplay, and graphics are all abysmal.

Genshin's writing is fairly average for the most part.

Anything not related to the fatui or dain/khan'riah is really mediocre, but when it's good, it's frickin good imo

        Anonymous

What takes it from average to abysmal is how overly wordy it is and the lack of a skip button. Almost all of the stories are totally uninteresting, but they drag it out for hours upon hours just to extend the playtime. Compare that to an RPG like Pokemon Red that also has an uninteresting plot, but doesn't waste hours of dialogue on it.

          Anonymous

Pokemon Red has a masterful plot. It's a post-war story about cultural redemption.

    dont bother
    its not f2p friendly
most of the content is simply impossible to clear (like the abyss equivalent from genshin)
there are some freebies, but most are trash without gacha
some characters are rated higher on tier lists, but the tier lists fail to mention that it is not f2p friendly
these characters are rated higher because they either perform well with eidolons (duplicate copies of the character that activate bonus perks) or they are using a gacha lightcone (think of it as the weapon equivalent to genshin) that cannot be acquired if you arent rolling the gacha machine
as a strict f2p player, i am struggling hard with most of the content
i often have to rely on using a support character from the friend list to clear the basic content as well
and the hard content, such as the abyss equivalent, is simply impossible to clear

  11. 11 months ago
    Anonymous

The game isn't that good, but don't listen to the moron from above. He's complaining about not being able to clear endgame content after playing the game for 2 months, which is nothing for a gacha game. Do I need to mention that Genshin was the same at the start?

Wasted good characters designs on a turn based game. Talk about a dead genre.

  13. 11 months ago

    >gacha
No. But even among its peers in the genre it's painfully mediocre in all respects. The only reason people play it is because of the combined gestalt moron energy of people who play hoyoverse games. Story, gameplay, endgame, mihoyo has consistently dropped the ball on all counts in every single one of their games.

The only reason you'd want to play is if you're fine with everything being bottom of the barrel and you just want shiny polished graphics to accompany you as you pointlessly do dailies. That or you just want to pretend you have friends and ritualpost in /vg/.

The characters and how they are in battle is pretty much just numbers, the characters themselves don't matter at all, ironically.
Arguably lowers stakes by a lot and detaches you from characters. Which is funny considering selling them is the main way to make money. They are more like stickers than anything.

I uninstalled it minutes ago. My first gacha, spent over 200 euro on it, got to TL 62. What story content there is isn't bad, but you are going to be running around same few empty hallways all the time. Music is cool and the animations are nice as well. Concept of travelling through space on train is really cool.
But the higher levels you go the worse grind gets with moronic amount of materials needed to level up traces and ascend cones and characters. To the point I'd dread new character as levelling them up is too much of an effort. If you don't want to whale you are gonna be doing daily logins and chores to get those jades for pulls. It was just soul sucking experience for me lately.

Mihoyo could make fantastic full price jrpg if they wanted, but instead they made this. I'll maybe try it in few years again to catch up.

Of course they don't want to make a full price JRPG, they got a moron like you to drop three times the cost of a AAA game on something they didn't even finish playing. In a year you'll start it back up, drop another couple hundred, and so will millions of other idiots. YOu just proved why this model is successful

        Anonymous

You are right about not making full price title as they can make more money this way.
On the other I won't spend more on it as I am absolutely seething. 200 euro really didn't get me much and I'd still be months of grinding before I got characters properly built up.
It was moronic but I am done.

          Anonymous

That's why I play these things free, and at some point if I don't get someone I REALLY wanted, I just drop the game for a couple years and let it build up some actual content to play.

The gameplay becomes extremely stale where you just log-in to burn stamina and then log off. This is typical for a gacha, but many other gacha respect your time these days and give you Skip mechanic if you've already met a requirement to enable sweeping.
basically it's Kafka and Fu Xuan waiting room simulator right now.

it's ok when you play casually just seeing the main story, even impressive in little dumb details when you are interacting with backgrounds, but the late game becomes a grind fest with no real purpose just like how genshin ends

Mixed feelings. I think at base it's nice but the combat is a bit too basic and there's not a ton of content. Genshin can carry on open-world exploration but since SR doesn't have that it relies more on combat so it falls off harder. It's ashamed because it seems like the better character designers went to SR while Genshin is left with safe fujo-approved designs.
