If it's sea of thieves with actual PVE it will probably sell shitloads of copies.
If it runs or plays like garbage then it will bomb horribly.

What's the point in owning Ubisoft games if the CEO wants you to roll over and accept that you don't own their games?

      Anonymous

Quoting that exec that said players need to be comfortable with not owning games?
That was overblown. One. he was the exec for Ubisoft's gamepass clone so of course he's going to shill it.
Two. he was asked what it would take for the gamepass clone to be successful. So his answer is 100% correct regardless of your feelings on the idea.

$70 games with free-to-play business models, paying money to pay more money is the peak of AAA gaming
this game will almost certainly flop though, over a decade of development for this? pretty embarrassing.

they also cost £70 on the official stores instead of the "regular" £60 which is equivalent to about $88

I can't play sea of thieves cause they have the stupidest fricking character creator ever, I don't want to play as some butt ugly inbred sailor, but you have to randomly generate them and it takes forever to get a cool or decent character model, it filters my OCD too much

That's par for the course for Ubisoft these days, and it's been growing steadily for the last decade.
AC Syndicate had 8 studios working on it.
Far Cry 4 & 5 had 5 studios working on it.
AC Odyssey had 7-10 studios according to disputing sources.
Far Cry 6 had 12 studios.
AC Valhalla had somewhere around 15-17.

Try Horizon's Gate. It's indie, has a fantasy theme and tries to punch above it's weight in some aspects, but it is pretty much an ideal open ended sailing game.

You mean the game that just released it's 11th season after 5 years from release? The game that is Microsoft's most successful new IP in a decade? Rare's most successful game of all time?

Yeah I'd say it's pretty popular.

I can't believe they seriously pulled the "it's a AAAA game" with THIS game. People use this to describe Rockstar games with billion dollar budgets, and even that stirs people up understandably. A Ubislop game that's been back to the drawing board a hundred times? Lmao.

The funniest part is that this game was literally only made because the Singaporean government gave them money, and told them that the money comes with the stipulation that they need to hire people from Singapore. So the vast majority of the developers on this game are SEA monkeys, and it will inevitably be broken as frick.

The AAAA label is accurate for all the wrong reasons, it's like it's encapsulating all the shitty corpo shit AAA games pull and cranking it up another notch

Watched someone stream it and it looks boring as shit. The juxtaposition/transition between sailing and land gameplay is jarring.
It also looks like typical Ubisoft online slop where every area is instanced to hell. The whole game is basically an illusion.
Graphics while sailing are the only positive thing.

I've played 1 hour of the beta and uninstalled, talk about wasted time. I wouldn't play this shit again even if it was free.

It's REALLY bad, if you're thinking about trying the beta, don't even waste your time.
