Is it fun?

Looks like the Fanservice is quite good, judging from the trainer quotes on Bulbapedia, but is the gameplay any fun? I tried playing the Fire Emblem gacha, but it was so boring, that not even the Fanservice could make up for it. Does Masters EX have any actual gameplay or is it just auto battle and gacha pulls?

I tried playing it for the acerola fanservice and the gameplay was kinda boring to me. one of those idle games. not worth the size of the game IMHO but if others enjoy it then all the power to them

It’s a free download, play it yourself. No one can tell you how your going to feel from playing it. Dumbass.

I tried it and it was boring. It's also very stingy with gacha currency. I went back to playing FEH instead.

It's fun if you want to see characters interact and cute girls doing cute things. The gameplay involves clicking the auto button and watching things die.

What I kinda want to know is if those interactions are gated behind a long and boring paywall. Like, say I wanna watch Gold and Silver talk with each other, I don't need to pull hundreds of times to get a 5-Star Gold and Silver.

Just finished downloading, will try it out.

I only played for about an hour, maybe two, so I'm not the best judge for these things, but it seemed to me that the gacha system is extremely stingy. Most banners can't be rolled on using the currency you get for free, you get very little for free anyway, and the odds are atrocious.
My main point of reference is FEH, though, and as far as I know that's one of the most generous gacha games, so maybe it's completely standard for the genre.

The only banners that you cant pull on with free gems are the paid banners, which are just a variant and the main banner is right next to it is where you can use the free gems. Or the paid "select who you want" banners. Also you chose to play pretty much a weekish after anniversary completely ended.

Each character gets 2 cutscenes where you hang out with them, those unlock when you pull them. Some have extra scenes if their pokemon can evolve.
Other cutscenes are tied to events and story arcs, you dont need to pull characters to unlock those, its the main story.
2 extra hang out dates for characters that can be invited to your Lodge, those you just have to go thru a "chatting minigame" with them daily before you unlock those.
You can talk with characters in the home lobby, who randomly show up based on your roster.

Silver and Ethan talk to each other all the time during the Johto villain arc.

Oh, nice. That sounds quite good, since I only rly wanna play it for the character interactions. Thanks anons.

Do these paid banners have extra dialogue or is it just stats?

Also, the game defaulted to my phone's language, but idrc tbh. Gotta learn the German Pokémon names now.

            >Do these paid banners have extra dialogue or is it just stats?
No, no interactions or stories are locked behind paywalls outside of simply pulling the unit once in any banner to watch their sync story and their lodge dates. You sometimes get bonus gifts from doing multis, like power up tickets, or coins that you exchange for candy that can serve as a sync level power up for whatever unit, but those are also earned through playing.
Pulling a seasonal/costumed character when those come back lets you rewatch the seasonal event they debutted in. Those events still get rerunned for everyone usually once a year regardless.

You can change the language in the settings.

The paid banners are just reruns of older units or ways to get new units with less rolls, no unit has ever debuted behind a paywall.

Also don’t roll on Variety scouts. It ain’t worth it, chief. As of now, Variety scouts are just their attempts to copy paste a character with no new outfit but a different Pokémon. Roll on Fair banners, these banners have 10% rates, or 12% if it’s a Masterfair, and those units are usually loaded out the ass with big numbers.
You can go to the masters thread on vp and see the event calendar for this month that gets datamine every month, see if there’s anyone your interested in and base your pulls off of that, or save and wait for the next datamine.

Tbh every new unit is so massively overpowered you can just roll on whoever you want.

It’s a hit or miss if it’s a new general scout, and even some seasonals still get screwed with very basic b***h kits.

gays said Valentine Elesa was bad but I still rolled because she's sex, and she still fricks up flying weak opponents.

You don't need to roll units to see event cutscenes, just to use them and access special cutscenes where (you) hang out with them alone.
Either way base Silver is a free story character and base Ethan is a common roll, you'll get both in no time. Both characters have a single fairly rare, limited alt.

Yeah, the gameplay is pretty fun. Especially if you go out of your way to use weaker units, instead of clearing everything with the strongest units like SS Serena.

Still within the top 5 strikers, plus she is the strongest unit available on the current banners.

There is no auto in Masters except training courses or Villa

all the relevant gameplay is manual and can be difficult too, especially for a new player

The biggest bullshit with paid banners is the recent rerun of the gold orb war units, since it was paid only reruns of units that haven't been available for a year. The chances of getting them without paying might be slim.
