you scream sales volume != quality for years and now suddenly you're pretending it is?
it plays like any other CRPG, why would someone need to "show" you? dont tell my you're that much of a newbie you've never played one?
>you've played this genre before why would you want to know details about the gameplay? >when this video game got a 96 on metacritic and got flooded with hype posts on here NO ONE was saying it had good gameplay
wow the insincere bullshit people will post on this site never ceases to amaze me. what do you even get out of typing this?
It has a lot of content, production values for the genre and it has oldschool monetization. This is enough nowdays to break mind of Ganker and half AAA devs
It's a very well made CRPG. It doesn't reinvent the wheel but it's a very enjoyable representative of its genre and should thus be welcomed by anyone who likes CRPGs.
If Baldur's Gate III's gameplay is so unremarkable that you'd rather just redirect someone to watch any other game within the genre then what makes the game so good?
it's not amazing, it's the only choice for someone who wants to play this kind of game, this isn't rocket science.
the success of the game is literally because it's the best of a very very small genre and is the only high budget one to come out since Larian made the last one.
That's fair, I admit that I am mostly an outsider to the genre so I don't know how big of a market it has. I am curious about the writing quality, I personally liked what I played of OS2, and I hear that here it's even better. Is that the case?
probably on par, if not a little worse (im still in act 1)
dialog options between allies are basically: >I want to frick you >I want you to explain your lore again >something overtly mean/cruel
and dialog options with other npcs are: >I'm a good guy, let me help you >[paladin] I'm a good guy, let me help you >explain the lore >I'm a bad guy, give me money >[barbarian] I'm a bad guy, give me money >[half-orc] I'm a bad guy, give me money
it's fine, but I'm finding a lot of the time I find myself thinking I don't want to say any of the dialog options.
I think it has some of the worse companions in the genre because it’s overtly horny where every single conversation with your companions is dodging [Glass him] landmines that lead to sex
I don't have any problem disclosing my wage to coworkers cause I know it pisses off my employer when they have angry employees storming into HR over getting paid less doing a harder job and likewise if I'm getting more training forced on me I want to know what the guy prior to me was making so I know I'm not getting paid shit.
Lol, lmao even. I just start asking for a raise every half a year, bringing offers from other employers. Never cared about "true" salary, for all I know they even reduced raises for few people to give me a bigger one
It's "popularity" feels very unorganic for some reason. Do we even have sales numbers aside from 2.5m figure during the ENTIRE early access? There are games that sell more who get called "flops" while this one is praised and relentlessly shilled by the entire game journalist field
nah, best you can do is boxlieter which is reviews * 30 for a rough estimate, but that can be wildly inaccurate (usually under-estimating as some indies have been known to have a 70 boxlieter multiplier)
you can feel whatever you want the game is a top selling success by any metric.
from larian stats, the game sold 1.8 million during 4 days launch, that's it, nothing else. Low sales if you compare them with anything else, but bg 3 bots are seething and won't accept that
the number of classes picked, you can calculate how many bough the game .

What's your criteria that makes the game not good? It runs on 5E which is an idiot-proof system that's fun for newcomers and casuals, there's a ton of reactivity based on species and class - my Paladin gets to threaten evil things all the time, the combat is great if you like turn-based CRPGs like Divinity Original Sin. What makes it "bad"? There's a bunch of things I dislike, but what is your criteria that makes it bad? >unfinished companions like Halsin and Minthara >non-Origin companions have 0 content because of Larian's stupid Origin system >male companions are annoying and overly clingy >Act 3 is very buggy >Warlocks don't get enough Patron interaction >the ending sequence and ending slides are underwhelming

>What's your criteria that makes the game not good
I have absolutely no reason to comment on whether the game is or isn't good; I haven't played it, and from what I've seen it'll be put on the back burner, if I ever get around to playing it.

>It runs on 5E which is an idiot-proof system that's fun for newcomers and casuals
5e is dull as frick that barely lets you do anything interesting with your character. >there's a ton of reactivity based on species and class
90% of which doesn't actually affect the conversation at all, and 99% of it has no effect beyond the conversation. >the combat is great
The combat is torturous. Clearing out the goblin camp I literally had time to go and make a coffee between turns. It's fricking moronic how slow the turn times are. Larian LITERALLY created a system to allow enemies to take turns simultaneously in beta because it was so bad, and then they just DIDN'T USE IT except for the goblin civilians. It should be applied to every enemy in the game by default, except maybe boss enemies.
There's also obviously missing content, for example most classes aren't represented in companions. There's no Paladin companion, no monk, no Sorceror, and no Bard. Likewise there's no companion that works as a dedicated healer without respec. Shadowheart is the closest but she's fricking useless as a healer unless you respec her. Alfira had all her content cut. She was a persistent NPC in the party camp in EA. Come release, all her content has been cut. Dark Urge gets not content, there's only 4 actual interactions unique to it.
There might be a good game buried somewhere in the pile of shit, but BG3 feels like playing a janky kickstarter game.

Is there a speed up animations option? Expeditions had this although some battles could still be a bit of a slog even with it on
10 months ago

No. And to make matters worse, if you do things the AI isn't coded to handle it causes the scripting to hit an error and hang until their turn times out. For example if you use Command and make enemies drop their weapons, then pick their weapons up, a lot of them just bug the frick out and stop doing anything, except they DON'T END THEIR TURN. They just sit there for multiple minutes.

Alfira is cut, Helia is cut, no goblin shortstack gf, gay bear druid is the mascot of BG3. What went wrong with this game?
>only one person in the whole thread actually posted gameplay footage
thank you for your service and shame on the rest of the anons for wasting time arguing.
nta but I've seen plenty of gameplay discussion in BG3 threads. Like a lot. There's also a clear distinction between threads actually about the game and threads about the meta surrounding the game like this one. If the thread is about bear sex, sales, comparing it to another game, East vs West shit, how Larian is based, how Larian hates white people, whatever the case may be, it attracts a very different crowd and very different discussion from actual threads about the game. If you're being genuine about wanting to see people talk about the gameplay, this is the wrong sort of thread, but the threads you're looking for are around.
Yeah, there's a pretty marked difference between the way people who actually played the game type and shills/trolls who pretend to be shills type. And coincidentally, the former usually says it's good, but not great, while the latter goes on and on about how it's the best game ever. Go figure
I literally saw a "no-one is discussing gameplay!" post sandwiched between two posts about gameplay the other day and I was laffin. One of the culture warriors didn't get the memo to stick to their containment threads. I wish I'd screenshotted it.
Nah, it would be way better with RTwP combat but even then it wouldn't be great because of the shitty tabletop ruleset. It's fricked, FotMgays will eventually realize that but it's already too late.
At least when Cyberpunk released we had gameplay. It wasn't JUST glitches. It was shooting, dialogue, cutscenes, sex scenes, choices.
All this BG3 shilling is just >HUH??? SEX?? in a VIDEO GAME?? OH MY SCIENCE!
>Always ask women their age (men too) >They almost always ask me to guess >Always guess wrong, because I'm autistic and struggle to tell face age >They're almost always happy
All except the one guy I said was 30 and he was like 17, rip his genetics
>You mustn't speak of your salary!
Shitty artificial taboo designed to curb attempts of improving employment conditions. As long as it's not explicitly prohibited in your employment contract, talking salaries will either help you or help your coworking friends, because someone will discover they're getting boned and they'll go negotiate a raise.
Yes, Barb with a 2 Fighter dip is peak Martial fun, +4 CHA Warlock with the cantrip robe is maximum fun for Eldrich Blast spam and Fireball Warlock is super useful, and Clerics can wreak all sorts of havoc with Guardian Spirits and more.
More or less. I found it fun, but turns could stand to be snappier, and the game is full of weird bugs and design decisions.
I've actually uninstalled the game because I rather desperately want custom hirelings and I don't think they'll be added any time soon.
>pretending this isn't an exclusive problem to Ganker
Normies are off playing it, streaming it, uploading gameplay clips and talking about it. Here? All you b***hes do is whine about gay men and how popular the game is. I'm seeing actual homosexuals discuss their team comps and how to break the game. Ganker is below homosexuals.
Do you want me to screenshot my combat logs or something?
It's a turnbased game. A small slice such as a screenshot or whatever, doesn't really convey much of the larger picture.
I am loving the game though.
I assaulted an enemy party while being half their level earlier. Was tough but I just barely survived. And a victory is a victory.
>report a bug on larian forums and steam >shills starts shitting the thread with cries that it isn't a bug at all, i'm stupid and it all can be avoided easily, the game is PERFECT, larian deserves a rest, 15 pages of pure shilling, 3 clown awards on steam >no response from devs for over a week
as always i'm in between two huge homosexual groups who are both terminally moronic and terminally online
>played act 1 in EA, barely any new content on release >act 2 is short >act 3 is clusterfrick >endings are cringe >companion interactions are pure dogshit >larian writing >don't want to replay this shit because barely any choice would lead to anything satisfying
literally a massive waste of time
>tactics
if you mean stacking barrels or savescumming trying to get an option to skip a dogshit boring 1 hour long fight that mostly consists of stupid lagging enemy ai movement then yeah sure tactics are there in all their glory
no, its boring after a while, especially the big encounters, use the same spells, wait for 5 homosexuals to do their turn, etc.
At least in bigger fights multiple enemies can do their turn at once.

ESL in charge of reading comprehension
Thank God I will never be this much of a pedantic homosexual
What's your criteria that makes the game not good? It runs on 5E which is an idiot-proof system that's fun for newcomers and casuals, there's a ton of reactivity based on species and class - my Paladin gets to threaten evil things all the time, the combat is great if you like turn-based CRPGs like Divinity Original Sin. What makes it "bad"? There's a bunch of things I dislike, but what is your criteria that makes it bad?
>unfinished companions like Halsin and Minthara
>non-Origin companions have 0 content because of Larian's stupid Origin system
>male companions are annoying and overly clingy
>Act 3 is very buggy
>Warlocks don't get enough Patron interaction
>the ending sequence and ending slides are underwhelming
Expeditions had this although some battles could still be a bit of a slog even with it on
>There's no Paladin companion
Minthara
>Dark Urge gets not content, there's only 4 actual interactions unique to it.
I've had more than 4 in first 4 hours of the game
back to discord with you, troony
>Alfira had all her content cut. She was a persistent NPC in the party camp in EA. Come release, all her content has been cut
Alfira is cut, Helia is cut, no goblin shortstack gf, gay bear druid is the mascot of BG3. What went wrong with this game?
>only one person in the whole thread actually posted gameplay footage
thank you for your service and shame on the rest of the anons for wasting time arguing.
I don't think most people make their own webms.
all the active BG3 threads were just culture war shit especially the bear ones like
you cant be serious
>real threads die because everyone bumps the /misc/ threads
Yeah? Everyone who wanted to talk about the game had to go to /vg/
Why do mods allow it? I had threads that had vidya discussion that got deleted for less but they just allow /misc/ shit to reach bump limit every time
What? I am asking about the video game gameplay and the answer I get is "something something culture" lol.
nta but I've seen plenty of gameplay discussion in BG3 threads.
>Just like my heckin' DND, i love it!
This but completely unironically. Feels great to still enjoy things.
Back to /tg/
I'm playing coop with a friend, we're currently at 50 hours of gametime and only starting the 3rd act, and we have a lot of fun during the battles.
You're not having fun, you just think you do until the fomo dies out.
All this BG3 shilling is just
>HUH??? SEX?? in a VIDEO GAME?? OH MY SCIENCE!
would be a lot more fun with RTwP in my opinion. all that this turn based shit is doing is bloat the game-time
No
It's fun, but it's worse than Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2
how so? I'm waiting for the PS5 version so I can play couch coop. DoS2 was the best coop experience I've had and was hoping for a DoS3-like.
>Always ask women their age (men too)
>They almost always ask me to guess
>Always guess wrong, because I'm autistic and struggle to tell face age
>They're almost always happy
All except the one guy I said was 30 and he was like 17, rip his genetics
For someone who has been playing cRPGs since their teens, yes it's fun.
I have a fun webm but it needs sound to be enjoyable
When I get home I'll post it
>Enter thread
>Absolutly BEAR BROKEN individuals in permacope mode
It looks like a mediocre game.
Yes, it's great.
i played 3 hours and honestly no it is not
if i could skip all fighting i would
Very!
is bg3 the dqxi of crpgs?
Can you frick kids in these gaames considering you can have gay sex?
How is the game revolutionary though can anyone explain?
DnD 5e, shills and zoomers discovering the bottom of the barrel in terms of good old quality in AAA studios had a couple of decades ago.
>pretending this isn't an exclusive problem to Ganker
Normies are off playing it, streaming it, uploading gameplay clips and talking about it. Here? All you b***hes do is whine about gay men and how popular the game is. I'm seeing actual homosexuals discuss their team comps and how to break the game. Ganker is below homosexuals.
Do you want me to screenshot my combat logs or something?
It's a turnbased game. A small slice such as a screenshot or whatever, doesn't really convey much of the larger picture.
I am loving the game though.
I assaulted an enemy party while being half their level earlier. Was tough but I just barely survived. And a victory is a victory.
do we have a "reset the counter" image with the bear yet?
>report a bug on larian forums and steam
>shills starts shitting the thread with cries that it isn't a bug at all, i'm stupid and it all can be avoided easily, the game is PERFECT, larian deserves a rest, 15 pages of pure shilling, 3 clown awards on steam
>no response from devs for over a week
as always i'm in between two huge homosexual groups who are both terminally moronic and terminally online
women ask me my salary all the time though, what gives?
you can thank simps for that one
This is the most perfect female body I have ever seen.
a few decades ago women were relieved of having to have certain behavioral standards while men weren't. it is what it is.
What is you salary?
do you like games with an insane amount of detail and replayability, or tactics?
then yes, play it. it's one of the rare games that makes all other games in recent memory look like low effort piles of shit.
>played act 1 in EA, barely any new content on release
>act 2 is short
>act 3 is clusterfrick
>endings are cringe
>companion interactions are pure dogshit
>larian writing
>don't want to replay this shit because barely any choice would lead to anything satisfying
literally a massive waste of time
>no comment on tactical combat
it's obvious you're nitpicking
>tactics
if you mean stacking barrels or savescumming trying to get an option to skip a dogshit boring 1 hour long fight that mostly consists of stupid lagging enemy ai movement then yeah sure tactics are there in all their glory
