Good but not great, a very unique game but definitely not for everyone. I'm now remembering I got all the way to the end but never finished it, dont even have my copy anymore
They couldn't stand the fact that the only Chad in the game is a Black personisraelite who literally slapped their waifu on the ass and also got to heroically sacrifice himself.
>The game throws not just one, but TWO cool guys with peak protagonist energy that overshadow the frick out of the "real" MC
It's like they were making a statement about typical protags.
>Dude let's swap out Kai with his sister and bluff our way through training >I'll leak all of the intel to my brother who is now a general in the empire. Trust. The. Plan. >Oh no, I got dozens if not hundreds killed, I'm beyond redemption. >Well I don't care about that shit! I love you Kai/Leena! >As squad leader, it's not her fault. The families of those soldiers on those other ships will surely understand >I hate the federation so much I will save those little valkyria girls so the empire can take advantage of them to be used as nuclear bombs instead
No, but it comes from an age where there wasn't a dozen different titles with the same setting and premise so it had uniqueness (and Raita) going for it.
No its shit, garbage story and worldbuilding, idiotic characters, mediocre gameplay, weak world design, forgettable music and bad presentation, actually the presentation is below bad, its hot garbage.
However, Selvaria is sexy. thats the only redeeming quality i found in this game
Its alright.
Decently fun but massively unbalanced. You may think it doesn't matter in a single player game, but half of the time, if you want the best rank, you have to apply the same exact strategy for every map, you'll understand what i mean when you play it.
Still, usually goes for very cheap so yeah, grab it. Also, for as much as i give raita shit for his weird style, i cannot deny his designs are fricking sex.
No, you can have fun with the first one thanks to the novelty of the mechanics, but that all goes away once you figure out how to break the game and the sequels make that worse instead of better, plus have shittier stories.
It's okay. The games after are pretty poor. If you do play 1 I highly recommend you don't do those side-challenges or whatever they're called. They allow you to get overpowered weapons very early on and IIRC, it's farmable so you can get a lot of extras which just breaks the game. And there are some abilities and cheese "strategies" that break the game, too, I recommend not doing any of this shit. It kills the game immediately.
Yes, I will awaken potential Alicia scout rush with Rosie in tow blowing up tanks from across the map with the Ruhm and there is nothing you can do to stop me.
The game WANTS you to do all these things due to the ranking system. It's honestly my least favorite part of these games that never went away. You WILL cheese missions with orders to finish them in 2 turns to get all unlocks.
Only people that hate 2,3 are trannies that can't handle more fast paced gameplay. Enemies ACTUALLY posed some fricking challenge there, especially armored homies and bosses because they actively rushed you and captured your camps instead of being punching bags that you bully from the other side of the map.
nope, I barely did any class changes. serge got changed to sniper almost immediately and annika didn't see a lot of use as a scout before getting moved to lancer. riela is the only one I sorta cross trained, and that was just on one class so she could get that perk for double movement (which almost never activated anyway)
he starts as a scout, but I never used him because his accuracy was so bad he couldn't kill people for shit. I think I made him an armored tech when I moved diet off of it to be my second sniper, but I also basically never used that class. really I only ever used scouts, shocks, lancers and snipers, and towards the end, a fencer. armored tech, gunners, and engineers didn't seem that useful in comparison. I know you can cheese shit with gunners and support fire, but I didn't want to do that
do you build it as an apc to ferry units to capture bases faster? I mostly kept mine as a medium tank to soak up damage and blow up some big stuff

Mostly APC to rush camps but switched to Heavy Tank for boss fights because the game really hates the "throw orders on a guy and get them behind the tank" strat and always tries to counter it.

I never once used APC in the PSP titles, outside the missions that forced it. Worthless piece of junk
With the light frame, it only costs 1CP like any other unit, has scout's range, and the upgraded cannon 1-shots pretty much any unit. Full metal valkyria
I'm pretty sure it was only 1 unit even when I was using it as a medium tank

for most bosses I just went with the tried and true vc1 strat: get two units on either side of them and take turns shooting them in the back of the head so they couldn't dodge. I think I did use it as an apc for that mission near the end where you had to run at the giant dreadnought in a really long map. it was a lot faster to get a fencer with an anti-tank sword up there that way

>for most bosses I just went with the tried and true vc1 strat
Yeah, I used the same strat but in this case I was talking about the Tank bosses by the end, I still remember Gusurg's fricking white tank he positioned in a way 1 polygon of his touches the camp and makes it uncaptureable and provides insane DEF boost.

oh yeah those were super annoying. I just stacked penetration and demo boost on a lancer and had them shove rockets up his radiator

I remember getting shredded by -DEF or straight up BS damage miniguns when I did that...

well I would have already killed all the other units with a sniper so no -def stuff, and then I would just have the lancer take a wider route behind so it stayed out of range of the tank for as long as possible, and then you could also cheese the tank's slow turret rotation by going in and out of aim mode to force it to rotate its guns back to the front

>I'm pretty sure it was only 1 unit even when I was using it as a medium tank
Maybe. One of the games had light frame=1, med=2, heavy=3, and in another tank was always just 1. Can't remember too well.
Yeah honestly this. Like others have said there is one absolutely braindead strategy that works on every map and the game expects you to use it to get the best rank. Once you know what it is, any sort of tactics go out the window.
What's your favorite moment from the game? For me it was when Welkin and Alicia tried helping that wounded Imp soldier, and then the meeting with the Imp officer and his men afterward
truthnuke: no
yes
Decent. Ignore all the sequels.
Yes.
Yeah; VC is one of those franchises where only the first game is good and the rest is shit.
3 was great
3 wasn't good
3 was good, only homosexuals that don't play it say is bad because muh "portable is a downgrade"
no
it was unbalanced mess
VC4 was also step down
VC2 was decent, VC3 was great
>VC4 was also step down
More like superior in every way
Good but not great, a very unique game but definitely not for everyone. I'm now remembering I got all the way to the end but never finished it, dont even have my copy anymore
>barely any alicia porn
Why?
she's for Welks only
... you mean?
>cucked
>cucked by Welkin even
am I gonna make it?
it's a good game if you're in the mood to take a nap soon. makes me really sleepy...
only if you like:
european based anime
cute anime girls
cheesy stories
japanese humour
strategy games
genocide
world war 1
world war 2
if you like all of these then YES, if you don't like one then NO
Yes
4 is good too despite what morons on Ganker say
why did 4 mindbreak Ganker so hard?
They couldn't stand the fact that the only Chad in the game is a Black personisraelite who literally slapped their waifu on the ass and also got to heroically sacrifice himself.
>only chad
excuse me?
>The game throws not just one, but TWO cool guys with peak protagonist energy that overshadow the frick out of the "real" MC
It's like they were making a statement about typical protags.
the best part is that he has the same name as the protag but krauterized
the scene where Claude chooses not to blow the ship is the highest qualty
I'm still mad that the game still have denuvo.
Because Ganker eventually gets to THAT part.
>Dude let's swap out Kai with his sister and bluff our way through training

Jesus Christ
Part 4 is the best of them all. If you're only going to play 1 in the series, get the 4th.
noooooooo 4 only has Alicia as a cameo. Bread girl is best girl!
No, but it comes from an age where there wasn't a dozen different titles with the same setting and premise so it had uniqueness (and Raita) going for it.
Anime war kino.
Advance wars sucks. Valkyria Chronicles rules.
No its shit, garbage story and worldbuilding, idiotic characters, mediocre gameplay, weak world design, forgettable music and bad presentation, actually the presentation is below bad, its hot garbage.
However, Selvaria is sexy. thats the only redeeming quality i found in this game
Alicia enjoyers unite.
>Solos the entire campaign
A good chunk of the campaign but not the entirety of it.
Its alright.

>he thinks banana skellingtons are hot
the best characters are cameos

Marina, my wife
One of the best scenes in the damn series. Spiers is one bad motherfricker
the 1st game was good enough. doesn't overstay its welcome. Alicia was too OP.
It's good but don't fall for the meme it's this subversive gritty anime ww2.
Yes. The PsP games are ass though.
4=1>3>>>>>>>>2>>>>>
Where is all this VC4 hate coming from? That game is just as fun as the first game.
I'd go 1>4 but same, 4 was nothing groundbreaking but it's not terrible as a last hurrah for the series by being at least comparable to 1
It's good but once you find out how to break the game (you'll learn real quick how broken scouts are) it kinda ruins the strategy aspect of the game.
All of them are good. Yes that also include the two PSP games (especially 3).
Only people that hate 2,3 are trannies that can't handle more fast paced gameplay. Enemies ACTUALLY posed some fricking challenge there, especially armored homies and bosses because they actively rushed you and captured your camps instead of being punching bags that you bully from the other side of the map.
>Enemies ACTUALLY posed some fricking challenge there
WRONG! Serge, blast his brains out
>implying these stats are not scuffed from multi-class grinding to make gigahomie soldiers
nope, I barely did any class changes. serge got changed to sniper almost immediately and annika didn't see a lot of use as a scout before getting moved to lancer. riela is the only one I sorta cross trained, and that was just on one class so she could get that perk for double movement (which almost never activated anyway)
Alright then, but not making Alfons a scout is quite a waste.
he starts as a scout, but I never used him because his accuracy was so bad he couldn't kill people for shit. >moved to lancer
*fencer, my bad
>maining serge
What is he, gay?
damn you got a lot of mileage out of the tank
Tank is peak if you want S ranks.
do you build it as an apc to ferry units to capture bases faster? I mostly kept mine as a medium tank to soak up damage and blow up some big stuff

The grade system fricked up the entire game. Don't even play this garbage for free.
Yeah honestly this. Like others have said there is one absolutely braindead strategy that works on every map and the game expects you to use it to get the best rank. Once you know what it is, any sort of tactics go out the window.
Make VC5 please
All I need is more Raita
I want VC to get a different artist if the series continues, never liked his art.
It's okay, but gameplay wise 4 is genuinely much better
yes, just don't watch the anime as it is a piece of shit
YES ITS GOOD
4 is also decent, has high highs but low lows
needs a mission/map editor, desperately
4 is mostly decent but it's the easiest of the games, unless you only played 1. So many tools to cheese the frick out of the game it's disgusting.
yeah
>Sega is apparently going to bring back Sakura Wars again after killing it twice
>VC does nothing wrong and is permanently killed
reeeeeeeeeeeeee
Us Sakurachads send our condolences.
Surely this time Sakura Wars will finally break into the west.
Even Sega doesn't have the power to triple kill one franchise, right?
is raita good for you
yes it's excellent
This is the banana thread
Start posting Raita bananas
yes and VC4 is fun too, but if you don't like nip games you won't like the series
For me its Wendy Cheslock
What's your favorite moment from the game? For me it was when Welkin and Alicia tried helping that wounded Imp soldier, and then the meeting with the Imp officer and his men afterward
>Largo, Rosie, if my plan works then you'll start taking my orders and like it
Just refreshing for a anime protagonist to not be such a passive bootlicking homosexual which is unfortunately what Claude is in VC4.
1st one is good but pretty easy
2nd one is awful
Never played the 3rd
4th one was alright from what I played but I never finished it
