It's because Blasphemous' 3 biggest flaws are >Most bosses are kind of dull after the initial fight >it never feels like you are getting lost >platforming sucks/nonexistent outside of the Bloodstained crossover events
All of which Hollow Knight excels at, even if its at the cost of some bloat.
too bad hollow knight looks like a flash game and uses gibberish speak instead of proper VAs
great game otherwise but those are embarrassing marks for a supposed GOTYAY to have
>too bad hollow knight looks like a flash game
Agreed. It's pretty amazing how good Blasphemous looks; especially since I think their last work was the Last Door series? >uses gibberish speak instead of proper VAs
Frick off, gibberish speak is great.
>va
nonsenical va is endearing and avoids adding cost and devtime for no benefit
team cherry literally just hired the nearest female in their office building and her va did its job >looks like a flash game
go back
It's one of those games that has multiple endings, but it isn't straightforward about getting to them at all
You'll probably be getting the bad ending if you just play normally
You can get the good ending by just reloading your save prior to beating the final boss and doing a pretty obscure sidequest that you'll figure out by looking at a wiki
The true ending requires multiple obscure things to be done throughout the story, and if you miss one you'll be restarting your save, so you'll only get this one on a second playthrough with a wiki out.
No. So many enemies are have you waiting for them to either drop a shield or appear after going through a wall. Slog which is a real shame since the art is amazing.
Play Salt and Sanctuary for a 2D Souls Like, play Hollowknight for a Metroidvania.
It has amazing art direction and music and very solid gameplay to go with it.
I only wish countering after a parry was more prevalent, seems like there are a lot of things that you can block but not actually counter after doing so.
There's some obscure and extremely hard to pull off variant of the parry that allows countering attacks which would normally knock you back when guarding. It's called Righteous Riposte and has a Heart and an achievement tied to it, but I still don't know what exactly triggers it other than timing the attack button some time right before you parry.
You have to press the attack button when the sword is above the Penitent One's head (after a successful parry ofc). There's nothing special to it other than it leaves the enemy open for an execution.
The game is good, some bosses are bullshit though (2 of them that are specific to the true ending come to mind). I'll probably wait before doing NG+, I literally just finished it today.
>The game is good, some bosses are bullshit though
None of them feel bad in a normal playthrough imo. In the boss rushes however you start to notice how pants on head moronic the health bloat gets on True Torment. Bosses that are purposely designed to give you limited damage opportunities are a slog to fight without optimized loadouts and full resources.
I did Isadora with shit damage (mea culpa level 3) and 3 flasks, spent a few hours retrying and didn't have any protective prayers for the flame ball phase. Took me hours and I had to look up online to beat her (went and got the red mist poison prayer to win). I'm moronic for trying that early, but I was able to beat the serpent just before without any problems.
I probably won't even bother with the boss rush, but respect, anon.
It's the best in it's genre

To where? Reddit, where they love hollow knight and that kind of dogshit artstyle?
>gibberish speak
I grew up with Pingo
So frick you too anon
Probably one of the best indie metroidvanias you could play. I think it's better than Hollow Knight but it seems like most other people do not.
one of the best animated and voiced vanias out there if not the best
nine sols looked better from the demo but will need to see a full release for any accolades
I have only one complain regarding quests. If you miss some minor event, good fricking luck. You might restart the game.
Those quests give you a unique achievement when you mess up and you're going to restart the game either way for NG+ content
It's okay, I kind of regret buying it at full price but since it's on sale go for it

gameplay is shit
Everything else is great
Game is great, though it leans more towards a classic Castlevania than it does to an Igavania.

Garbage platforming decent combat.
Those last couple Miriam stained glass platforming challenges were pure cancer
Probably the most fun I had with a game last year
>steps in a spikes
>dies
>backtrack 10 billion years
No, it sucks.
Solid art style but overall found it really dull.
Love the game
Love the OST
Love the theme and aestethic
