I love that randoms get filtered. There's also the Dark Falz Solus fight that filters the frick out of everyone, less than 0.1% of active players have beat it. It's great. There's a 5 death limit and people queue in and clock all 5 deaths in 20 seconds. I had someone get pissy with me because I had the title for beating it 10 times on my ARKS ID.

That was a wild time.
Still remember the first "real" /trash/ meetup for NGS on Global back in mid 2021, where GwiZ showed-up out of nowhere, stripped-down, and starting posing around with the degenerates already gathered there. Everyone was silently freaking out, and nobody was quite sure what to do about it, as they weren't responding to any messages directed to them.
They did eventually leave after about a hour of stealing the spotlight (I guess), at which point, some of the other /trash/ regulars felt comfortable enough to break out the cubes, etc.
Was surreal as hell to see an active Community Manager for an official company be so openly brazen about something like that. Never seen anything remotely like it, before or since.
Sometimes hiring a player from the game to do community work for you is just gonna end up getting someone that really shouldn't be doing that work. But grabbing someone that was on the /vg/ of all places was probably one of the biggest red flags.
Had heard GwiZ was a longtime poster on Ganker and /vg/ prior to encountering them back then, and knew they were a pretty infamous person even still, but certainly wasn't expecting what I saw that night.
Guess some Anon just can't resist flaunting their power level, even when they should really know better.
Was this after the whole ban wave of Ganker alliances from when some raided an official Sega sponsored stream to shout "Black person" at the top of their longs? If it was I bet that's exactly we're most of that awkwardness came from.
Believe this actually took place BEFORE The Great Purge, surprisingly.
Although from what I recall, the unfairly heavy-handed permabans laid down upon most of the major /vg/ Alliance leaders did occur not too long following this infamous night. The game stopped being a decent place to socialize in after that (what with everyone being too paranoid to hang at the usual channels anymore), its general became an unbearable cesspit where no one was having any fun, and I left not long thereafter.
Hope the lads from the Toblecrew and Oyagang are doing alright.

Oh it is, I'll fully admit to that.
Couldn't resist taking them at the time, however, because when the hell else would I be able to capture an actual Community Manager for a then-active MMO bawdting around with a bunch of degenerates. Never saw anything like it before, and I doubt I ever will again.
A____P____ is this you..
Nope. A*******a. Wasn't one of the most notable of names back then, and was only around the /pso2g/ scene for the end of PSO2 "Classic", and the first few months of NGS (and during some very odd hours at that). Kept myself out of all the screenshots I've shown so far, but I was indeed present at that infamous /trash/ meetup (although I didn't partake in anything lewd myself). Heartening to hear someone remembers me from all those years ago. While I may not know who (You) are directly, I do hope you've been well, Anon.
Sorry to hear you're still trapped in that mess. Even if the game's near-uncountable amount of faults were on shocking display during those first few months, I still recall just how much hope we all carried for the future regardless, assured that a great MMO would eventually be built atop the hollow bones we were given. Perhaps those hopes will still hold true someday, yet I hadn't the patience to stick around and find out. For the best, evidently, given what I've heard of the project in the years since. Will credit my brief time paling-around the 'scene with reigniting my interest towards virtual photography in other titles, at least. Been having a blast in GW2 and SL, largely for those reasons. Honestly tended to use NGS as more of a social platform than a proper dungeon-crawler anyway, so I guess it isn't too terribly surprising I'd drift towards more socially-focused MMOs such as those.
While it's doubtful I'll ever return to NGS, I do sincerely hope the title eventually transforms into the incredible game we all hoped it one day would be; if only to vindicate all those who've remained within its thrall, through thick and thin (mostly thin).
>They got rid of their troony Community Manager Gwiz, so that's a small win.
He got moved/promoted to something else.
Apparently he's hyped for something related to him coming to the game. Probably something related to his Bar-tier DJ work.
100% he'll try his best to still frick with the community at times.
>They got rid of their troony Community Manager Gwiz, so that's a small win.
I'm not doubting you anon, but can you post some source please. I stopped playing like a year ago and I'd like to celebrate what you said.
the last NGS headline + for global was their "goodbye" stream where they say they are leaving being a community manager, they didn't get fired but promoted or some shit but at least they wont be shitting up pso2 anymore
That sounds like 343Postums (Halo CM) who after a controversy blamed the Ukraine war for not fixing an issue with Halo Wars 2, got "promoted" to "Associate Producer", which is in fact a type of intern who has to move around teams.
>They got rid of their troony Community Manager Gwiz
I thought thet got internally promoted
The new community manager is hardly any better because they are a pedophile that used to ERP in WoW
its getting better but its still not great, leciel is interesting in concept but its randomness isn't very good. Daily rotation but half the time the shit will be the same multiple days in a row. The first two days were the same exact modifiers and boss. Some of the boosts are just unfun like the normal attack boost where it invalidates playing a class normally to just spam m1. At least its not reusing the cocoon maps
So wait I'm confused. Is New Genesis PSO2? Cause I played PSO2 back when I had to use an english translation and it was alright, pretty fun. Is this just a rebranding or a new game entirely? I just downloaded and installed it.
its a new game stapled on top of pso2, the story is connected and you use the same character if you have a character still, it plays mostly the same but classes are dumbed down a bit more and everything is basically reset in NGS so you aren't behind 10 years if you haven't played for a while
>people complain how they made the gameplay almost entirely about fishing for counters for virtually every class including ones that that are traditionally distance attackers like Force and Ranger >Sega's solution is to start implementing unblockable/uncounterable attacks instead of giving classes more to do than just fishing.
It's just weird to have a game where you WANT to stand in danger zones just so you can repeatedly counterattack AoE ticks.
sucks but it's "healing" slowly, if they keep up in 3-4 years it might be considered a decent mmo, wish the development of this gamer wasnt rushed honestly, what in the actual frick sega was thinking in releasing a new game with only 2-3 years of development time? base pso2 at least had 5+ years
JP PSO2 wasn't dying, ep6 was a high point it was just coasting on no content for extra months after the story wrapped up so they could shit out global and catch them up to JP before shitting out NGS
A lot of players stopped playing, economy is going the global route, special collab items(not the scratch ones) are reaching ridiculous prices and most of the time it looks like a ghost town in some ships.
The DF update brought back some players but it still feels dead compared to Classic PSO2 and Aelio/Retem days.
Game will be complete shit for some more years unless Hamazaki dies or gets fired.
It's baffling to think that the JP reaction to EP5 being to abandon ship so hard because of Hero and omega isekai, and Sega's response was to put the man that ruined it in charge of a pseudo-sequel that would cut out at least half of the active JP playerbase by system specs alone in a panic. And then they not only completely ignored PSO2's slow recovery, they proceeded to attempt to smother it to death to push their new thing over all else, basically dooming both games altogether. This shit is like corporate sabotage, worse than Segac for Universe.
>omega isekai
I wouldn't say it's because of Omega being an isekai retelling, but because of how lazy the initial area looked and how the trailer put a huge emphasis on dress-up over anything else. Harukotan and Earth were super detailed compared to Omega, and when Omega came out, it was just a super empty field with weird lighting and really bad textures.
Even when they did get further into the region, there's like a grand total of one or two maps in the entirety of it all that looked half-decent and they're functionally cutscene maps. Goddamn, PSO2 wasn't exactly visual splendor and all but Omega felt like an excuse to use the most bland and generic mapping humanly possible like they tried to cut the budget down, despite like a dozen new enemy types with wholly new animations and really fricking complex boss fights.
You fricked up by not playing 589 hours a day when it was out the first two days, now all the minmaxer whales have moved onto Solus leaving you stuck with randoms who are too moronic to shift focus to the growth bombs on bosses.
>leaving you stuck with randoms
Do people actually play this game and not join an alliance? I have played with randoms once in 2023 and exclusively play either with my alliance or with mixed parties we sometimes get with other alliances that we're friends with.
I have never joined one and never will.
For some reason I get six-seven randos trying to recruit me every day now, when I used to only get one or none. Seems like it started when leciel drops, but I don't know why it spurred such a rush spree.
Honestly this game baffles me. I've been here since launch on ship 3, all my friends left, and I just dunno why I'm playing besides sunk cost fallacy in base PSO2 anymore. I'm not a player the game wants, I haven't paid a cent for NGS, only base, and the "content" on offer doesn't even hit that whole "oh this is how the game should be in two years" thing you hear with bad launches. This is just misery and boredom, and that isn't even getting into how piss awful the loot game and optimizing it is.
Whoever the frick kept Hamazaki in the director's seat and then panic ejected this game should've been fired within first six months of the game's launch. And Leciel being their major standing content for the next while is a fricking joke.
The game is only for you if you want to use it as a premium character creator and 3d chat lobby
And if that's what you seek you should just go with VRchat or Second Life. Both much better options and also likely cheaper, because don't count on being able to afford anything when you're not willing to spend money on the game.
NGS has to be the most f2p hostile game I've had the mispleasure of experiencing, which is a shame because I thought PSO2 was quite good for a f2p experience.
At this moment in time, WoW is the only good Western MMO, XIV is the only good Japanese MMO, and BDO is the only good Korean MMO. There is literally nothing else, just pick one and don't waste your time/money elsewhere because you'll only manage to get a few dozen hours at most before realizing everything else is just pointless and shit.
Overall no, not at all.
The new game mode Leciel "exploration" is fun, and quick, but not randomized enough to be the sort-of arcade experience they're calling it.
It's also missing some kind of immersion factor to really make it arcadey, like the central tower ops commenting, shouting, and warning you. I would kill for them to just add a desperate-sounding op alert when somebody bumblefricks into a trap room and gets locked with the bomb.
honestly all they had to do was make a damn procedural dungeon, not this weird score attack ass quest setup. they're absolutely obsessed with reusing bosses galore from pso2 but not actually using any of its good ideas.
It's honestly better now. I'm actually playing. Between the Creative Space (housing) update in June and now, the game's been getting better. I guess some of that is just that I love housing stuff but the new gameplay content is better too.
It just remains to be seen in the next stream if we'll keep getting better content again or if it's back to seasonal only for 1 month.
I admit the housing stuff is kind-of fun.
I amuse myself sometimes seeing if/how I can circumvent the bullshit people who think they're clever put in place to wienerblock the tree.
Tower of Fantasy died in a month. NGS is "better" only in so much as it actually has more shit to mess with and a semi-consistent playerbase stuck to its knees, but I wouldn't call it good.
NGS has better combat mechanics, even if all of the enemies are uninteresting punching bags. The worlds are fricking empty and the number of quests that involve characters actually doing anything are sparse as frick.
TOF has actual content, a lot of content that isn't just collectathon shit, however crude most of it may be. I'd give it to TOF if it weren't for the fricking game having about six hundred different submenus made just to tick boxes and collect grind rewards.
thank you for this thread. I'm about to go check it out. I've had it downloaded for years but never gave it a chance. I used to play pso on the gamecube for thousands of hours. I know it's not the same but it left a 2 decade old void I'd like to attempt to fill.
and the dungeons are shit and all aesthetically the same viurtual reality grid dog shit with loot that isnt worth the effort in any regard >Leciel exploration >Oh shit we get to explore the floating island cant wait- >It's just the weird environment squares where you dash around following the numbers needed >Never go inside leciel (boss room doesnt count, it's lame we dont pave our way to it) >Never actually explore just run wildly into rooms without a care >4 puzzles, all solvable by a 5 year old after the 1st attempt at them
Really gay
I don't blame them for the puzzles, since they have to be somewhat simplified for the fast pace and time limit. If they were actually hard and made people have to sit down and have a think about it, it only would've pissed most people off.
The rest, yeah. Calling it specifically Leciel Exploration is just utter bullshit that implies something completely different than what it is.
>Kill the Base Game >Reuse all the assets from that game into this dogshit new one >"HERES YOU NEW CONTENT GAIJIN. PLEASE KEEP GIVING MONEY TO OUR SCAM YAKUZA MONEY LAUNDERING MACHINE GAYMU"
Remember when people gave fallout 76 shit for being an asset flip? I guess sega doesn't remember
>SCAM YAKUZA MONEY LAUNDERING MACHINE GAYMU"
thats literally everything sega has ever published since forever though. they put slot machines in sonic for a reason.
It went from terrible to bad, if you started now you already missed 30+ quests worth of deleted content, the game relies on FOMO to get people to log daily.
It's trash made by boomers that's don't play the game btw
No. The controls are still ass. You have to scroll across the d-pad then select what you want to use instead of mapping them to a button. Imagine turn based controls except it's an action game. Also, too many whales quit. Everything is like 7, 8 million dollars now.
>You can use your keyboard >You can replace moves on your Action pallet with sub pallet stuff >You can move things to be easier to get to on the sub pallet. >You can get good with your dpad
there's a lot to complain about but that is not one of them.
when the FRICK are they gonna make a real Phantasy Star game again I am SICK of MMO shit
phantasy star is their cash cow f2pmmo series now, we'll never get another phantasy star rpg again. thank yuji naka

i didnt say it was good
>Just one month in
you are just as worthless as your opinion
tell me something i dont know
I can't believe they never updated the game loop. It was just battle zones, gigantix, and tower defense UQ updated with new textures twice a year.
They did, you just haven't played it.

I just downloaded and installed it.
its a new game stapled on top of pso2, the story is connected and you use the same character if you have a character still, it plays mostly the same but classes are dumbed down a bit more and everything is basically reset in NGS so you aren't behind 10 years if you haven't played for a while
Thanks. I look forward to enjoying it until all the bullshit reveals itself as I progress. I bet I'll have a few days worth of fun, maybe.
Didn't even had one fun day..
I mean if it still plays like PSO2 I'm not terribly worried.
It looks like it plays like PSO2, but it actually doesn't
New Genesis is PSO2&Knuckles
no modder barely make smooth sex animation and keep shitting out different color of micro bikinis
it's not and never will be
>ragne is back, for some reason
>falz hunar is back too, but without any voice lines now
fun to see people get wrecked by these old frickers though
It's fun for a few hours if you enjoy the counter boss hits play. Then boring
>people complain how they made the gameplay almost entirely about fishing for counters for virtually every class including ones that that are traditionally distance attackers like Force and Ranger
>Sega's solution is to start implementing unblockable/uncounterable attacks instead of giving classes more to do than just fishing.
It's just weird to have a game where you WANT to stand in danger zones just so you can repeatedly counterattack AoE ticks.
Isn't this just a coomer dress up simulator pretending to be a game
Back then it was a dress up simulator with a game attached to it. Now it's just the former
sucks but it's "healing" slowly, if they keep up in 3-4 years it might be considered a decent mmo, wish the development of this gamer wasnt rushed honestly, what in the actual frick sega was thinking in releasing a new game with only 2-3 years of development time? base pso2 at least had 5+ years
Because they didn't care about making the game good. It's all about the gacha
executive meddling, it's always executive meddling
probably a combo of JP PSO2 basically almost dying and the Sakura Wars gacha bombing so hard they had to shit NiGerS out
JP PSO2 wasn't dying, ep6 was a high point it was just coasting on no content for extra months after the story wrapped up so they could shit out global and catch them up to JP before shitting out NGS
hows jp atm?
existing, its not super alive because NGS has been awful
>Didn't stock up on growthments when leciel had normal attack potency up
I fricked up didn't i?
You fricked up by not playing 589 hours a day when it was out the first two days, now all the minmaxer whales have moved onto Solus leaving you stuck with randoms who are too moronic to shift focus to the growth bombs on bosses.
...I have two Octo units from drops.
(one has a fixa guard 2 on it)
shall i trade them in for 50 ments?
I'll wait to see what the drops are for the next update in a week or so as supposedly the alternates for the Octos might be out then.
what content are we getting next week?
>leaving you stuck with randoms
Do people actually play this game and not join an alliance? I have played with randoms once in 2023 and exclusively play either with my alliance or with mixed parties we sometimes get with other alliances that we're friends with.
I have never joined one and never will.
For some reason I get six-seven randos trying to recruit me every day now, when I used to only get one or none. Seems like it started when leciel drops, but I don't know why it spurred such a rush spree.
>joining a bunch of ERPing fricktards
No and frick you.
Never game is fricked at the core
I like the way that NGS controls more like a action game.
Every other popular MMO feels too... MMO-ey for my tastes
Is NGS better than tower of fantasy?
Tower of Fantasy died in a month. NGS is "better" only in so much as it actually has more shit to mess with and a semi-consistent playerbase stuck to its knees, but I wouldn't call it good.
as much as i enjoyed ToF at the start it devolved into super p2w garbage so yes, NGS is "better"
>is NGS better than chink shovelware plagiarism fest?
yes you moron
Oh 🙁
I was liking tower of fantasy on ps5…
get well soon anon
Y-you too…
NGS has better combat mechanics, even if all of the enemies are uninteresting punching bags. The worlds are fricking empty and the number of quests that involve characters actually doing anything are sparse as frick.
TOF has actual content, a lot of content that isn't just collectathon shit, however crude most of it may be. I'd give it to TOF if it weren't for the fricking game having about six hundred different submenus made just to tick boxes and collect grind rewards.
>yet
How is the butt game for this?
It is very much a butt game.
thank you for this thread. I'm about to go check it out. I've had it downloaded for years but never gave it a chance. I used to play pso on the gamecube for thousands of hours. I know it's not the same but it left a 2 decade old void I'd like to attempt to fill.
dont. its shit. not joking.
advice taken.
I’m sorry.
I just wanna do dungeon runs with other people but ngs makes that’s incredibly difficult to do.
and the dungeons are shit and all aesthetically the same viurtual reality grid dog shit with loot that isnt worth the effort in any regard
>Leciel exploration
>Oh shit we get to explore the floating island cant wait-
>It's just the weird environment squares where you dash around following the numbers needed
>Never go inside leciel (boss room doesnt count, it's lame we dont pave our way to it)
>Never actually explore just run wildly into rooms without a care
>4 puzzles, all solvable by a 5 year old after the 1st attempt at them
I wear a red jacket in the game and like to help others 🙂
Play final fantasy 15, it's a masterpiece
>Kill the Base Game
>Reuse all the assets from that game into this dogshit new one
>"HERES YOU NEW CONTENT GAIJIN. PLEASE KEEP GIVING MONEY TO OUR SCAM YAKUZA MONEY LAUNDERING MACHINE GAYMU"
Remember when people gave fallout 76 shit for being an asset flip? I guess sega doesn't remember
>only 1.6k players
oof
>SCAM YAKUZA MONEY LAUNDERING MACHINE GAYMU"
thats literally everything sega has ever published since forever though. they put slot machines in sonic for a reason.
Maybe. Maybe not. I certainly am not going to install a 100+ GB game just to find out.
Until they cut down on the install size or at least give players a demo that's no bigger than 5-6GB in size, I am not touching this game.
the game is under 100 gb now after they made og pso2 optional to download, it's like, 60-70 gb without it (game combined filesize is 120+ gb)
What went right?
Not episodes 4 and 5, that's what.
Nothing. Game should've died after ep3.
Yeah it's pretty good
don't go on ship 2
baldurs gate 3 patch notes remind me how lazy and shitty sega is. bg3 does more in hotfixes than new genesis does in major once every year game update
PSO>PSO2P>all
It went from terrible to bad, if you started now you already missed 30+ quests worth of deleted content, the game relies on FOMO to get people to log daily.
It's trash made by boomers that's don't play the game btw
When are they adding Etoile?
as soon as the add hero :^)
Never
They're just going to add more Etoile stuff to Fighter
No. The controls are still ass. You have to scroll across the d-pad then select what you want to use instead of mapping them to a button. Imagine turn based controls except it's an action game. Also, too many whales quit. Everything is like 7, 8 million dollars now.
>You can use your keyboard
>You can replace moves on your Action pallet with sub pallet stuff
>You can move things to be easier to get to on the sub pallet.
>You can get good with your dpad
there's a lot to complain about but that is not one of them.
>using wasd
Go buy a controller, they're $70, $130 on the high end.
>using a controller
deplorable
I do use a controller. but YOU can also press your keyboard keys if you are desperate and quick enough.
You should already have some stuff binded on keys anyway like class changing in the city without needing to go to the counter.
Or multibillion dollar corporation can use proper button prompts.
syberbolt 3rd video will EOS Global
I doubt Global will last that long
global is still pretty populated tho
