Is it me or Rogue Trader doesn't really work well as standard-fare CRPG given the player character's status? You aren't some schmuck and every time I met npcs in the first solar system the only logical dialogue option was "Werserian, tell this homosexual who he's dealing with before we blast him for such disrespect and rudeness." Taking quests like "have you seen this literally who man on another planet" from nobodies doesn't make sense either because you aren't some interplanetary bellboy. I could look the other way in Kingmaker because you were just a random adventurer tricked into a role of Baron. I still could look the other way in WotR because you were a nobody who rose to military power and were dealing with more or less local conflict. But here you're at the helm of a ship with thousands people on board, traveling across vast space. It doesn't make much sense.

Whole 40k universe doesn't really work as a standard-fare anything. Turning your brain off is pretty much prerequisite to liking it. You can check out >>>/tg/ for more examples.
Pretty much.
How interesting would it be to play an RPG as a random nobody with zero agency?
Fa/tg/uy and 40k collector here, can confirm.
It's not even an RPG.
What is it, then?
I swear to god, when it's not the morons that think everything is a RPG, it's the morons that think nothing is a RPG.
which one is worse
Very hard to choose.
Liar. Proof?
>You aren't some schmuck
Have you played ANY of Owlcat's games before?
>muh I don't like being special
Okay, not my problem.
>in WotR I could look the other way
lmao, what? In Wrath your character is the most stupidly overpowered capeshit bullshit I have ever heard of. Within the first five minutes of the game you somehow have access to a crossbow with bolts capable of piercing the hide of Demon Lords and Mythic Path system is ludicrous. How does being a Rogue Trader, which is nothing more than a political and wordily title (you basically have jurisdiction over most of the trade in the Kornus expanse, save for other Rogue Traders obviously) that is exceedingly and utter vital to the economy and stability of the Imperium seem more overpowered to you than essentially being as close to a god as you can be? When you played Kingmaker was the fact you controlled a barony and then a Kingdom and eventually annexed all of the Stolen Lands feel too overpowered for you? Are you just not familiar with Warhammer?
>Within the first five minutes of the game you somehow have access to a crossbow with bolts capable of piercing the hide of Demon Lords
This part makes sense though if you have actually played the game
You can't read for shit.
>Within the first five minutes of the game you somehow have access to a crossbow with bolts capable of piercing the hide of Demon Lords
You are a literal who and the bolt is given to you by borderline demon lord's servant to further one of her experiments (of which you are also one), at no point do you even know any of this until later.
If you know anything about the game mechanics work and what a demon lord is in this setting then yes you'll be asking yourself 'how did my crossbow bolt even get noticed' but most brainlets won't even consider that.
>I don't like being special
No, I'm totally fine with being special. I'm fine with being a nobody, too. What I don't like is being special and getting treated like I'm a nobody, or being a nobody and getting treated like I'm special. The world and my place in it should make sense.
>playing a random basic b***h mercenary/whatever
>"hey you wanna make a quick buck? find me some of these drugs I need and i'll pay you"
okay, cool, yeah, that makes sense, i could use the cash
>playing a massive swinging dick planet governing rogue trader
>"my lord, the cultists have overrun our most sacred shrine to the emperor, and I fear they will desecrate it if they aren't stopped. i beg thee, in the name of the emperor, please aid us"
Very well, I will lead the assault myself. The Emperor Protects.
these are both fine, but instead you get things like
>playing random lowlife mercenary
>"the cultists have overrun our most sacred shrine to the emperor, and I fear they will desecrate it if they aren't stopped immediately. i beg thee, in the name of the emperor, please aid us"
i'm basically a crackhead with a stubber, dude, why are you trusting me to do this? is there really no one better for you to ask?
>playing massive swinging dick planet governing rogue trader
>"hey you wanna make a quick buck, my lord? find me some of these drugs I need and I'll pay you?"
what the frick, I literally have a signed permit from the God-Emperor of Mankind himself saying that I can do whatever I want and I own this fricking planet, how dare you even speak to me let alone ask me to do some kind of shady bullshit for petty cash. every dialogue option should just be executing you on the fricking spot
You haven't played the Beta then. Act 1 involves you investigating the Cult of the Final Dawn, a Tzeentchian cult bent on blowing up a star in a galaxy that (you) essentially own. None of the quests are small time jobber mercenary work. You're complaining about problems that don't exist.
I am complaining about problems that exist in the genre and in other games made by this company. I have not played this game because it's not out yet and I don't like to play demos/early access. It's possible that owlcat have finally learned to mitigate this problem, in which case I will have nothing to complain about for Rogue Trader. The complaint still stands for RPGs as a whole though, because it's fricking rampant.
RT is exceedingly faithful to the Warhammer setting with how they portrayed Rouge Traders. I was actually surprised at this and was expecting them to gut the lore like most everything Warhammer is nowadays.
I'm fine with it not being a standard-fare CRPG.
Warhammer?
More like Shovelwarehammer!
HAHAHA
>no sister of battle romance
Fricking trash. Owlcat is shit.
you're terminal stage coomer. can you proceed to next (troony) phase asap? thanks you
I don't see you complaining about romancing homosexual aliens and mutants here, cucko.
nta but you better leave my wholesome fish waifu out of this buddy
I'd roast your fish waifu.
agreed. literally no interest in the game without a sister wife
This. Say thank you to arseniy - this anime homosexual is the one pushing all the degenerate shit and whinnying when they try to do something wholesome.
So we have: cuck romance with navigator (sadistic sociopath), romance with old shitskin smuggler, slave romance with dark eldar. All thanks to him.
Hard to believe they're Russians. Guess woke virus infected everyone by now.
>Hard to believe they're Russians
You say that like Russians haven't always been the absolute worst of the bunch, it's just a different more authoritarian flavor. Russia is on track to surpass Africa now in AIDS cases. Nothing insightful has ever been typed out by a vatBlack person.
Jeez, meds, schizo.
Nah, if you are Russian you are worth less than a Black person to me.
Anon, Why do you have a good opinion of Russia in the first place?
Curious If it's not over their music or classical theater, I really have to wonder
Played with Russians, have online frens, most of them do have based opinions on things.
Russia is probably shit, even they say so, but not to the point subhumans cucks like this
say. It's just the current thing to hate it I guess.
>It's just the current thing to hate it I guess.
It's been the thing to hate forever you dumb zoomer
You're unironically operating from Cold War methodology of "russia le bad communists"? You do realize the Soviet Union collapsed in the 80's, boomer anon? You're hating an enemy that doesn't exist anymore, indoctrinated by years of propaganda repurposed by globalists to fit current paradigms. Your own country commits as many atrocities and even some that are worse as the Soviets, you have no reason to hate Russia unless you just want your country to remain cucked to Israel.
Are you fricking moronic?
Where did I say I hate Russia?
I just pointed out that Russia has been considered the bad guy throughout modern times, it's not just a recent phenomenon
Personally I like Russia
>backpeddles after being called out
unsurprising.
>you have no reason to hate Russia
I most certainly have no reason to like or admire Russia.
Even their last claim to notoriety, aka military might, has crumbled.
So now they are just a corrupt shithole that sends meatwaves and cries about Nukes every once in a while
>you have no reason to hate Russia unless you just want your country to remain cucked to Israel.
This is correct.
>t. read Solzhenitsyn's 200 Years Together
>russia le bad communists
subhumans remain subhumans
so you will always remain as you are? even more reason for Russia to conquer your shithole and elevate it to sapiency.
Russia is white Nigeria by most metrics you'd rate a country on (economic factors, crime , corruption etc).
And now, army effectiveness. This is Russia, not nostalgic USSR
Europe deserves to be conquered by their Russian betters. Things might actually not be shit at that point. Russian food is also really good, they have great vodka, great pierogi, and are Orthodox Christian. There's really no good to hate Russia unless you're Estonian or some other irrelevant country.
>someone fell for russia based meme
Lol. As a russian I can say you: russia is shit. Most of population is africa Black person tier - moronic and degenerate, with rampant aids, prostitution, alcoholism and youngster gangs. The other part is absolutely westernized.
Russians never were immune to it in the first place and there are tons of Russians are subhuman and degenerate as your typical leftoid.
Just like this
It's so widespread, there's an entire collection of terms for them and they are exactly the same as American one. I.e. they hate the country, the people, larp as someone else, seethe horribly, and almost invariably support the wrong kind of people, i.e. the mudslimes and the israelites.
The meme goes that Russia is actually controlled by the similar brand which is why it's so bad in the first place.
It already was in USSR times anyway.
But yeah, it's an entirely learned behaviour to hate us, it's been a thing for a while and globohomosexual makes a good effort to keep brainwashing NPCs.
Also, specifically Owlcats ARE the above brand. They've "officially" moved their location from Russia, and keep supporting the same gay aids like BLM, Ukraine, probably Israel now because that's what "good westerners" do.
So don't be surprised to see cancer in their games, it's by design.
>probably Israel now because that's what "good westerners" do
Nah the whole west is expressing a heavily anti-Israeli stance, even among DEI leftists. It's weird because the establishment figures are expressing heavily pro-Israeli stances because they have to because they sold out, while the public openly hates them regardless of the public's politics. What a time to be alive to witness this. Point being I don't think any "western" games company can openly support Israel without being canceled on Twitter, blacklisted by the community and overall just lose trust. Don't get me wrong I'm positive there are definitely a lot of games companies that would rather go with the nose, but I sincerely doubt they would be willing to openly express it.
I guess that might be true. Since there were pro-palestine movements even in Israel iself.
Shame about the whole thing though.
>cuck romance with navigator (sadistic sociopath)
This preemptive whining really amazes me
>cuck romance with navigator
Wdym? Cassie's romance is monogamous, while Jae actively sleeps with others.
Just a Black person seething and making shit up because he can't frick argenta
>cuck romance with navigator (sadistic sociopath)
Already making shit up and testing the waters for your shitposting huh?
this is nenio and linzi all over again and i love it
>Comparing that moronic midget and the absolute worst character Nenio with Argenta
Try Amiri moron
>you will play full imperialis
>you will serve the Emperor faithfully and tirelessly
>you will form a purely platonic friendship with the sister of battle
>you will burn the heretic
>you will kill the mutant
>you will purge the unclean
>and you’ll be happy
>>you will marry the mutant
FTFY
Reeeeeeeeeeeeee heresy
>Ok this rpg is cool but where is MY HECKIN WAIFU fade to black implied sex sequence huh?
Why is Gankerermin like this?
I feel like rather than being one of the top rogue trader families already we should've been some small timer who has to start from the bottom
Rogue Traders are bloodlines, anon. You can't "work up" to being a Rogue Trader. That's like saying eventually you wish to be born into the Hapsburg dynasty so you can control all of Sweden. Doesn't work that way.
I mean instead of starting right off the bat as one of the "big three" starting as a smaller fish, not every Rogue Trader dynasty is a Winterscale
The Big Three are the only three in the Expanse. Wdym?
What do you even mean? The whole Rogue Trader tabletop RPG is built around playing your own Dynasty and has a whole section in "Into the Storm" giving a lifepath system to allow you to play either a Dying Ancient Lineage of Rogue Traders where you have a gigantic ship, but your funds are running low. Or an up and coming "New Blood" Rogue Trader who has established a number of enterprises that bring in profit, but due to your lack of lineage, don't have a lot of holdings or ships at your disposal.
Anon, a "new lineage" in Rogue Trader terms means "your family is only 500 years old, the newcomer peasants."
>Rogue Traders are bloodlines, anon. You can't "work up" to being a Rogue Trader. That's like saying eventually you wish to be born into the Hapsburg dynasty so you can control all of Sweden. Doesn't work that way.
We kind of are some nobody that the actual Rogue Trader picks as their heir, I don't think there's relation there. We're just picked because they liked us, we don't have a blood connection to the actual family.
>don't have a blood connection
We do have one actually. It's somewhat distant but also the sole reason we got picked. That blood relation is what is needed to enter the vault containing the warrant of trade.
we're 7th cousins or something to Theodora
>We kind of are some nobody
No, prologue establishes blood connection, it's the whole reason everything works. I also recall whats-his-name Master of Whispers commenting on your military accomplishments (this might depend on the player character background, I'm not sure). This time around we're definitely not a nobody.
the RT is the closest living relative outside of Kunrad (who betrays you and everyone on the ship). Tell me you haven't played the Beta without telling me you haven't played it.
>You aren't some schmuck
As opposed to the game where you're a baron and later king? Or the game where you're the commander of the fifth crusade?
Did you not read OP's post?
>I could look the other way in Kingmaker because you were just a random adventurer tricked into a role of Baron. I still could look the other way in WotR because you were a nobody who rose to military power and were dealing with more or less local conflict.
Literally explains how you start from the bottom and work your way up. You're literally a nobody at the beginning of each game.
In Wrath you're not a nobody, you're an experiment being conducted by higher powers. You aren't le random adventurer, you are the most special and important adventurer ever not because of your merit but because of the ability to take Mythic paths and ascend, And in Kingmaker the whole establishing a barony was intentionally set up for you by Nyrissa so she could squash it to earn grains in her cup. I get that OP wants more progression of power, but Owlcat's previous games aren't good examples of this.
You don't know about any of that until the last half of the game. Unless you've already beaten it you're effectively a nobody who randomly gets mythic powers at the end of act 1.
Black person you get Mythic powers literally in the tutorial prologue of Wrath, stop being disingenuous. You unlock Angel mythic powers as soon as as you help Lann and Wendu find the sword, and the first boss fight trembles at your might by fleeing in a portal instead of crushing you because of le special awesome powers no one else has. Wrath can't help but turn the PC into a special snowflake marvel character at every opportunity, and Rogue Trader handles progression of power much better than Wrath did since you inherit the Von Velancius dynasty after Theodora gets killed and the only power you progress in rapidly is in your rank, connections and influence due to being a Rogue Trader instead of being a semi god.
>And in Kingmaker the whole establishing a barony was intentionally set up for you by Nyrissa so she could squash it to earn grains in her cup.
Literally the definition of just being some random schmuck stumbling into a crazy adventure. Tartuccio tries to set you up to distract from his own shenanigans, inadvertently positions you as a leader for the expedition, and it all snowballs from there.
Nyrissa was visiting loads of men's dreams, the bawd.
>her peawiener
>her tiger
>her skylark
>her stag
>her hound
I wonder what nickname she would have given to that moron from the Technic league
her crab.
do we have a list of all the Home-Worlds/Backgrounds/Life decisions?
I don't think the life decisions are in the beta
home worlds are
>death world
>voidborn
>hive world
>forge world
>imperial world
backgrounds
>IG commander
>commissar
>criminal
>priest
>navy officer
>sanctioned psyker
>noble
Apparently from what some people at Owlcat said we could also get Techpriest apprentice or something along those lines to have as a suito techpriest background.
Does it give mechadendrites?
>Werserian, tell this homosexual who he's dealing with before we blast him for such disrespect and rudeness
homie you really should read Cain novels
The bigger problem with the game
>Space Marine companion wasted on the fricking Yiff
>SoB isn't romancable
>Both xeno-companion slots wasted on Eldar
>Not even interesting Eldar (Corsairs, Harley, Incubi, Scourges, Mandrakes)
>tells someone to read the books
>complains the game makes too much sense
the game makes too much sense
Where?
If you weren't a secondary, you'd know.
Yeah it’s shit just like all warhammer shovelware but you’ll buy it anyways
i will play it in 3 years when they release slightly less bugged Enhanced edition and there will be mods which fix shit in that version
Don't forget the 6 DLCs and two extra companions.
and speaking of ships, why the frick did they gave us a frigate?
I cringed every time someone regarded our ship as "mighty". I want a light cruiser at the very least, please.
Frigate is kind of the mid-level for Rogue Traders in the TTRPG. Light Cruisers were actually the Highest level of ship you could get at character gen, and if you did your Profit Factor was left in the trash.
I'll take that deal then. Considering the amount of nope that the future might hold, realistically speaking, I feel like a frigate wouldn't be enough.
A frigate is perfectly fine in tt, because you can upgrade to a larger flagship if you have the pull or the money, and buy additional ships. This is not the case here.
but it's meant to be the flagship of our 10k year dynasty and we can't upgrade for "plot reasons"
why can't the creepy AI move with us?
>why can't the creepy AI move with us?
Hold on, there is an abominable intelligence in the game? I blame that heretek belesarius cawl
yes, there is an entity / "machine spirit" in the ship. You can fully awaken it or purge it. It names itself Nomos von Valancius, after you, it gets a bit... attached
Is that a good thing or a bad thing in 40k universe?
Usually bad. DAoT ended partially because the AIs revolted against humans.
The other issue is that the setting has demonic code. As in PC virus that corrupts your machine to chaos.
and didn't our ship get hit with scrap code when we got close to the Admech planet? Basically you have a potential AI on board the ship, which even if its friendly, is a huge NO NO.
Pasqal explicitly says that it's already in control of the main ship systems and 1/4 of the servitors iirc, and although he gets pretty hyped about Nomos, he is uneasy about it too
one of the first things it does after fully awakening is saying, paraphrased "watch this :D" and electrocuting one of the tech-priests, then getting confused when you get angry because it just wanted to show you a cool trick
if you tell it to GTFO of your ship it throws a tantrum, it says "don't worry I'm not a daemon" at some point but on the other hand you can teach it about corruption and faith, its pretty much instantaneously your best friend and it can take control of a servitor to spy on people while only you and Pasqal know of its existence. Having a ship that can spy on all its passengers is pretty useful
data miners have found that you can teach normos "Faith,Devotion or Family"
Faith, Corruption, Hope and Reason
Faith with Reason are the only good options
Wait, you can corrupt the a.i.?
one of the main reasons 40k is what it is is due to chaos (allegedly) corrupting AI leading to a war that destroyed the previous iteration of our civilization.
but can you corrupt your ship a.i. in game is what I'm asking?
the beta is a rather short one, that is not available rn as far as I know
but in theory it should be possible
It's literally what happens in the "Mechanicus" novel - an A.I., in order to survive, starts worshipping Chaos.
based a.i. preforming the most logical and rationally objective decision.
I wonder if you can turn the AI into a qt servitor gf
It's a bad thing conceptually. 40K isn't a fricking Mass Effect, AI shouldn't be like that, much less on the Imperial Ship.
Even Arc Mechanicus shouldn't have AI and BL's take on them is cringe and gay and won't be pretending it isn't.
tl;dr it's poorly written slop
>Even Arc Mechanicus shouldn't have AI
No ship should have them, but enough ships do have them to warrant AdMech spending a lot of efforts rooting them out, and to not much success.
it's even worse if that's the reason we can't upgrade. All we got is "story reasons" we are stuck with the same ship. I would happily forgo a pet AI if I got anything above a frigate
>Arc Mechanicus shouldn't have AI
If you think the entity in the "Priests of Mars" trilogy is an A.I., it means you didn't understand the book. It explicitly states it would survive the complete physical destruction of the ship.
Thankfully I didn't read it and don't intend to.
It's a decent RT premise.
As in, of course it's a bad thing, but it's the type of a bad thing that a Rogue Trader that can operate outside of Imperial authority totally can use it to his own benefit (and literally everyone else's detriment).
Rogue Traders can, in fact, play out an AdMech inspection like
>- Problem, magos?
>- We have information concerning possible Abominable Inte~
>- Ah sure do you have an Inquisitorial Warrant for that?
>- Sir, this is very ser~
>- AM I BEING DETAINED??? BY THE ALMIGHTY EMPEROR I KNOW MY RIGHTS, TINHEAD!
>Light Cruisers were actually the Highest level of ship you could get at character gen, and if you did your Profit Factor
That changed with the later additions.
Rules made it possible to start with even a grand cruiser, although in that case you aren't only tanking your PF but also lack the ship points for weaponry.
>could have had a grand cruiser
>instead get a shitty frigate
Gay.
It is truly a disappointment. Either being able to design a ship or having the chance to get a big one later on would have been nice. Especially as a grand cruiser is basically perfect for long range independent actions like a rogue trader would engage in.
how would that change in terms of gameplay?
it looks like they implemented a relatively simple mechanic for the "space" game. Not sure it would be capable to give any sense of scale.
nta but gameplay? aside from in theory more weapons/defenses no changes, it would be business as usual
this is all about the immersion, really
having a not-frigate flagship at the front of this old family makes some sense and it would help explain how we are able to keep taking out entire groups of ships by ourselves, not to mention the great reliance of the domain on us.
Owlcat if you are seeing this just slap a new skin on the model then ctrl-F and replace frigate on the dialog for whatever else thanks.
I really hope we can change ships in the future, and even get upgrades depending on Convictions.
wouldnt a new ship mean a whole different and new bridge (which act as your main hub to talk to companions/trade) ? I feel like Owlcat is gonna be too lazy on that aspect
they've already said no to changing ships, you also get a "ship skin" for one of the game packs but it's still a frigate
Unfortunate but skins would be welcome.
not sure what its trying to be, its like a mix of xcom and rpg but i doubt game like that is possible its really hard to make character progression meaningful and have good strategic layer at the same time, there will always be broken combination which trivialize strategic part.
Does not feel much like XCOM at all tbh. Feels like a standard turn-based RPG in terms of combat and power.
The way it worked in the beta, it's not so much tactics as figuring out which buffs to stack so that Argenta can destroy the encounter in one turn with her strlarter weapon.
Or, if you're me, rapidly abusing psyker abilities to crank out as many warp manifestations as possible.
according to the CM on reddit RT has been in development for 4 years, the beta didn't feel like it
I know the setting started that way, but being a Rogue Trader is cope for how unflexible the 40k setting is (it's greatest quality).
The whole handwaving of "oh but you're a Rogue Trader so it's ok" is shit on a narrative level.
What are you even specifically referring to? Do you mean the fact the RT can execute people with impunity? Elaborate.
moronic secondary.
Rogue Trader is the original 40k, you tard. Space Marine Wank: the Setting is a result of the setting catering to the customer and what they buy.
Oh, yeah, that's why it had Space Marines on the cover and no Rogue Traders ingame.
Licking Cassia's gills.
Based
what race is that?

Fish
don't know why, but the trader looks like a pimp to me
As he should.
Honestly this is the best portrait Owlcat has made overall and honestly one of the best I saw for MC period. I just love the style on it.
All the more reason to play as Noble, so you can look like that on portrait and on character. Also I find Owlcat's RT portraits to be better than their pathfinder ones. In Pathfinder it is exceedingly difficult to find portraits of characters that match up to the character concept you've created, though that's the consequence of having 18 gorillion classes and subclasses as well as races and their heritages come Wrath.
This portrait also works well for Vagabond. I saw someone say that those portraits make you want to replay the game as those characters and I do agree. I may go for Leader Imperial Guard Commander maybe (or Vagabond). Or Noble Marksman (if I remember correctly stats you can level up are those that reinforced by your origin and class so those two would give a good spread) as I like to talk and do some ranged damage in this game, although I may also go for Psyker depending on how expanded that role is.
Also beard look better than BG3 ones despite lower quality. Funny how you get here longer beards than ones you get for Dwarfs in that game.
Owlcat games have aways had better character creation than Larian's slop, so idk why you'd be suprised on that fact. Even if you go back to Kingmaker characters have multiple body types and well modeled facial hair. There's really no excuse not to have this in your game.
>in Kingmaker because you were just a random adventurer tricked into a role of Baron
>tricked
In the first fricking minute of the game it opens with that being your reward for killing the stag lord.
Fricking idiot.
You didn't play the rest of the game. Also if you played far enough to kill the Stag Lord and weren't aware that you're being set up you either have low iq or are a zoomer who zoomed through everything and didn't take time to read notes and item descriptions.
maybe we can replace Jae's portrait with the bartender...
>can’t even create your own character
This combined with the special snowflake MC of both pathfinder games should have given you the heads up that you are once again going to be a special snowflake 9000 power level anime MC. These games are all shit for this reason. Kingmaker would have been game of the century if I could just go on an adventure instead of being bogged down by power level politics at every turn.
>
>can’t even create your own character
?
>Kingmaker would have been game of the century if the game did not make me a king
?
No games moron making ignorant statements not because he has something to say, but because he has to say something.
I disagree with your opinions, though I do agree Owlcat could make a Pathfinder game where you're "just" an adventurer. The "Skull & Bones" module is a nice one, since you're playing a captain of a ship - whether you're a pirate, explorer, adventurer, or something in between is up to you.
a rogue trader does whatever he wants. he can downplay or inflate his position. given the setting you shouldn't be dealing with random bums in a tavern anyways. Ideally it should be almost like Star Trek were you meet important individuals, envoys, corporate representatives from various planets and you try to meet your quotas and the bottom line is making more wealth and prestige.
I hope the game embraces that heavily, outside of the main epic quest that will probably involve you with imperial shenanigans, the goal should be wether you end up being a failed merchant that bought tulips at the end of the craze, a small but solid hanseatic dude, or a guy that runs the space dutch east company.
If it uses a morality system it should be personal wealth vs imperial duty with uncertain outcomes. maybe kissing imperial ass in this quest will help you with getting better connections but in that quest you just cuck yourself from a good deal.
>If it uses a morality system
The morality/alignment system is limited to Imperialis, Benevolentia and Hereticus.
>hereticus
this sounds perhaps stupid but I really don't want chaos frickery in this game, i don't want black and white choices and the choices should have a more legalistic character. the rogue trader setting is promising as it can offer much fluidity in a world of extremes: authoritarian opresiveness and demon gangbang. being your own kind of garbage instead
Generally, choices aren't actually limited only to those three. It's more of the alignment thing than anything.
Hereticus isn't explicitly Chaos, it's literally anything that's against Imperial Dogma. That could mean anything from allowing a mutant in your party, to dealing with aliens, to having a fricking unsanctioned psyker in your crew. I still can't get over that. She's a walking beacon to a goddamn Enslaver.
>Hereticus isn't explicitly Chaos
It is explicitly Chaos, though. The first Hereticus option in the entire game involves making a deal with a Tzeetnch demon for a unique melta gun. Hereticus are options that explicitly side if not further Chaos.
I want to have sex with xenos
A moment of laxity spawns a lifetime of heresy
this anon has had more than "a moment" of laxity, though. He's a degenerate.
Suffer not the unclean to live.
what games are we playing while waiting for Rogue Trader? I'm going thorugh Trails from Azure myself
Thinking of Temple of Elemental Evil. Last time I played it I was like 12? And got filtered hard. Gotta rectify that shit.
I'm on Cold Steel 2. I will end up playing Kiseki games at the same time as other games for a while tbh because I like taking them slow.
Besides that, I have been playing Kingmaker slowly too. (I only played Wrath before this.)
Wrath and Kingmaker.
Wrath of the Righteous. SD Valis. WoW Hardcore (Troll Rogue).
Original Baldur's Gates. Not EE.
Currently pirating cp2077, frick you larry israelite. Considering all the amount of possible implants that are available in wh I'm surprised that there doesn't seem to be a specialist here capable of focusing in attacking them. At least I don't remember anything and I did read quite a bit of the fluff.
Netrunning in 77 starts slow but once I got the proper gear I felt like a demigod. Slowly walking to a group and killing everything in a split of a second (after unfreezing time) by just looking at them.

a new interview
>You've recently announced the co-op mode, a new feature for your games. Can you tell me how that's going to work?
>I cannot unfortunately because, for now, we're just saying that it will be present in our game. But no additional details right now. Sorry!
That's okay because Starrok already did on reddit
>You can give out control of the characters in your party to your friends. Can be any characters including the RT. But it's still a story about a single protagonist.
Still don't see any point of only 2-player co-op in such game. Either 3/6 or bust.
Yeah it'll just feel weird at that point. Still, co-op existing in some capacity is better than none and I'm sure some will get enjoyment out of it.
Any enjoyment of those few will be heavily outweighed by number of bugs related to co-op and all the time Owlcat will have to waste on fixing them.
I wasn't there for a while. Could somebody tell me about romance option.
I heard that 'yaoi-fans' is very unhappy with their 'choose'
homosexuals have one romance option: to be forcibly sodomized by Marazhai as he pours hot wax over your back and sticks needles through your eyelids.
>straight
Cassia the Disney princess Navigator
Heinrix the Not-Eisenhorn Interrogator
>Bi
Jae the sleazy used xeno goods saleswoman
Yrliet the moronic space elf on her gap year (a "platonic" option)
Marazhai the moronic BDSM space elf who literally needs to torture people to live
Marazai is for men only.
Marazai is bi. Devs confirmed it
he is? I thought he was gay. I don't doubt you but can you link where the devs said that?
Devs say that on discord. But it was some times ago (something when they release who will be romanceable and who is not)

thanks.
Alright (I write both post btw)
yeah nice larp, I'm gonna wait till the other anon thanks me.
Lol
One guy (nick_clark) was in despair cuz Marzipan is only male romance for males
He harasses devs on twitter whenever theres RPG news like that, I think he got blocked by the lead of Greedfall because he wouldn't shut up about their romances either.
Oh...so he is "famous"?
Why Greedfall. There is malexmale option
>Disney princess Navigator
Strange.
What's so strange about it?
also speaking of romances here is a terrible interview for a laugh
https://www.thegamer.com/warhammer-40000-rogue-trader-lgbt-romance/
>But at the same time, any person on the team would love to have, for example, additional companions like Kroot, everyone wants to have the Kroot mercenary.
They keep referencing budget, I honestly would've preferred a kickstarter if we got additional xenos like Kroot
Frick Kroot, I want Orks, particularly a Freebooter.
That's easily going to be DLC
If they do Ork DLC then this game will be the best game that has ever been made, only negative is that you can't play as an Ork (understandable, but sad) so I'll have to get my green fix with mods for that endeavor.
>kickstarter
To this day people still scream in agony and pray for it to just end after they encounter backer content in WotR. Nobody, Owlcat included, wants to deal with this shit.
Kickstarter has brought nothing but pain to this world. There are very few examples of kickstarter projects that that were worth the investment. Kickstarters actively seek to scam you, and in the case of fan content for Wrath, no, God please no. This is how we got Blackwater.
Based owlcat, shutting down alphabet people and coomers by making it about the narrative they want to tell rather than romance sim nonsense.
>Let's just say, in case of Argenta, it's not about character author's vision or budget constraints.
Per starrok, which means your lack of Argenta romance is thanks to GW
fat
Kano really let himself go.
literally me
I'm gonna cum.
future rogue trader DLC at least will most likely expand the main story
>have to wait years for bugfixes
Okay.
>have to wait years for DLC as well because they now tie into main game
Not fricking okay.
You're a minority most people that buy the dlcs replay the games
I'll gladly wait however long it takes for bigger dlcs that tie into the main story. I want more GOOD content. Time isn't a factor, I am a healthy young man. I can wait.
Thoughts?
>starts the reddit essay by linking to tvtropes unironically
yeah I think not
Who does this guy think the target demographic for a warhammer crpg is?
Owlcat can be as queered out and trooned up as it wants but it still has to turn a profit.
Also I'm sure GW, whatever it's fascination with bull-dyke female models is, also understands that it can't just tell 40k fans that the first ever 40k crpg is a gay romance simulator front and center.
Pathfinder is invented by gays for gays and it can be much more free and open than the 40k IP can.
source?
>homosexual seething at not being catered to
Good. Marazhai is an accurate representation of what sodomites are like to begin with. Butt sex is not a virtue and you aren't entitled to it.
That's like saying there are no men save for Arnie.
Some sodomites like to take it instead of being predators.
This Black person doesn't know a fricking thing about 40k if he's complaining about a Dark Eldar being pants on head moronicly evil and fricking anything sideways for no reason.
the single most important thing about any warhammer 40k game is representation of lgbtq and minorities
It works badly. The problem is that in the Rogue Trader ttrpg you werent forced to play the role of rogue trader. It was simply one of the many classes. And to me thats a huge problem. Rogue trader should have been the one class you dont get to play and instead work under (until the end when you finally achieve Rogue trader status.) They royally fricked this up from the get go.
>make a game called rogue trader
>you don't actually play as rogue trader
That's just asking to get shitposted and laughed at by communities and media alike, you know. Imagine if you bought Relic's Space Marine game and it turned out that you're actually playing as that female lieutenant instead.
The ttrpg is literally called Rogue Trader and you dont have to play as one. Vidyagamers really are moronic sheep.
In which case the rogue trader is played by either another's player or the DM both of which are still members of the player group and can be talked to and flexibly adjust the goal.
Making the player follow an AI RT would remove any player agency the adventure.
You'd have to be moronic to suggest any role for the MC aside from rogue trader.
>or the DM
So literally could be an npc in the vidya. This shit is going to have 0 replayability because owlcat forces you into the same role each playthrough, and the game wont have mercs for you to hire so you'll have to use their premade shitty companions every playthrough too. Games barely an rpg at this point, just a visual novel with combat. Keep eating slop.
get better bait
By that logic both wotr and kingmaker are not rpgs either as they force on you the same role each playthrough with differences being entirely superficial. Hell you can say that about any rpg that have structured main plot even, from m&m and wizardry to fallout and bg.
Yeah, that's not a new argument btw. Some frickwits explicitly complain that it's not le TRVE RPG if you get assigned a specific character such as Witcher Geralt as opposed to completely OC Donut Steel. By which logic things like Planescape or Disco Elysium aren't real either.
Just ignore the moron.
I really don't see why. The whole RPG is build on the premise of expanding RT wealth and you want to outsource all the necessary choices to the GM and rail road.
You're a fricking moronic baby.
You might think this way, but you're missing the ROGUE trader part.
What you're playing is just high level adventurer IN SPACE.
The sidequests part isn't going anywhere, it simply grows in magnitute to get expensive rumours, favours and payments from seemingly random people. Part of being an RT is the collection of rumours and charting of the unknown space to discover potential plunder.
The noname man might still be a commoner, but as a veteran voidsman he might have enough knowledge to share some for a price.
It's entirely in character for a rogue trader to socialize with lowlives and even banditry for fun and profit.
I'd say it even simplifies some things since you don't have to roleplay a noble while being a moron wagie in real life.
So this game is just another quick cash grap to stupid Warhammer kiddis and no BG3 kind of AAA state of the art Game?
A bit too on the nose, anon
>only one gay romance
>it's with a space psycho
might as well not put any in, jesus
>might as well not put any in, jesus
There shouldn't be any. When there are none you can just headcanon anyone with anyone else. As soon as one romance goes in, that goes out the window.
>you can just headcanon anyone with anyone else
Good, shippinggays btfo
NOOOOO BUT MY WAIFURINOS!
THERE SHOULD BE 146% CANON SUPPORT AND OFFICIAL SEX ANIMATIONS
Chonky update
I have a spoiler question for those who played through the beta
In act 2 You get an algorythm that can see the future from tzeench or something. The inquisitor wants it for the inquisition. Is this whorth killing him over to keep? Will anything significant come out of it gameplay or storywise?
Lorewise in 40k the future is not certain
What it can maybe show you is one of many possibilities, it may pass or it may not, but keep in mind that one way or another you will be corrupting everything around you.
There is no such thing as being purely practical with chaos. Even if you reject it and want to keep a relic and use it "for the good of humanity" it will still corrupt you. Slowly but surely.
Personally I told him to destroy it.
Thanks
>Will anything significant come out of it gameplay or storywise?
If you *blam* him to keep it his boss thinks you're really sussy and treading your Rogue Trader privileges by deepening too far into heresy, especially if you're doing a Hereticus run. For more consequences I can't say until the full game comes out because the Beta ends not too far after that Com, but regardless the Inquisition will hate you for not destroying it.
>sussy
SUSSY BAKA
>game comes out in like a month and a half
>zero hype compared to wrath
>almost nobody talking about the game
>beta was never updated so the game is guaranteed to be Kingmaker levels of buggy (wrath was only less bad due to said rounds of beta testing)
>all signs point towards a rushed release
>the awful classes aren't getting reworked, it turns out that what was in the beta is what we get minus some psyker subclasses
My gut feeling is telling me this piece of shit might sink the company, autists put up with Owlcat low quality for Pathfinder because they're autists. Warhammer normies will absolutely be repulsed by it.
>Warhammer normies will absolutely be repulsed by it
Warhammer consumers are willing to put up with some absolute slop as long as it has that 40k branding.
nah 40k fans will love it
I like 40k and I enjoyed the last two Owlcat games so I'll probably pick this up and probably like it, unless it turns out terrible. I played Kingmaker after it was all patched up, but I played WotR at launch and it was a buggy mess that was basically unplayable for 6 months. Definitely won't be trying this one for a while.
I enjoyed the Beta from what I played.
>>beta was never updated so the game is guaranteed to be Kingmaker levels of buggy (wrath was only less bad due to said rounds of beta testing)
https://twitter.com/OwlcatGames/status/1712060974012792984
It's literally fricking nothing, just a few bug fixes (that don't address some of the most gamebreaking ones).
"Update" means "adding in more acts like they did with Wrath so they won't be completely unplayable on release".
The wrath Beta phases did not add full acts, just 'finished' act 4(Geometry Allushynira was fun). The act additions were from alpha to beta, like this one
>beta was never updated
It literally was moron
40k fans have incredibly low standards and just consume slop like pigs.
I know several guys in my social circle that haven't read a single book in 20 years with the exception of 40k thrash, including the heresy books, wich are like 40 something doorstoppers.
That said this looks ok, it's not going to be a game for the ages, but seems entertaining enough to play a couple of runs.
qualitygays have never been right about anything. this conversation always goes down the same fricking way and i feel like im in a simulation.
>okay anon if you're such an expert on quality then what's something better
>they tell me something that is objectively better
>well i've already [consumed] that ad nauseum and its boring to [consume] further, what's something good that i haven't [consumed]
>this process repeats several times
do you fricking understand why im reading 40k yet? it's virtue is in its quantity and richness, even if the actual content itself is dogshit compared to its contemporaries not to mention the sheer opportunity cost. if im reading about some aliens getting btfo'd by other aliens and im interested in this story thread, what in the genuine actual frick does a completely separate and unrelated albeit higher quality narrative have to do with me wanted to read more about alien on alien action? frick off, dude. jesus. your qualityslop is only as good as there is an amount of it to actually enjoy. its like being mad at people for eating chicken nuggets when high end restaurants offer chicken in their 3-part dinner course. they don't serve the same purpose you stupid homosexual.
>in their 3-part dinner course
as a part of their 3-course dinner*. anon sent me into a meltie and i didn't proofread
>pleb'n proud
Calm you man-breasts, paypig.
>heresy books, wich are like 40 something doorstoppers.
More like 54, there are some good (entertaining) 40 k novels, Heisenhorn or Ciaphas Cain for example, but the overwhelming majority are fricking awful.
And the Horus heresy series in particular is borderline unreadable.
At least the MC is not a SM for once .
>ITT: dummies who thought one of the Brides of the Emperor, a literal nun, was going to suck their dick
l o l
Owlcat fans want shitty romances, what did you expect.
SoB =/= sisters of silence
Besides both Vandire and Cain's Last Stand are proof that the sisters of battle have sexual relationships when they can find the time.
>8D mad
You really shouldn't bring up WH40k books when trying to defend something contextually dumb in the setting. All of them are basically young adult novel tier, often written by writers that know very little about the setting and just writes them like their own shitty novels based on IRL shit.
>Claims Sandy Mitchell knows little about the setting.
moron alert.
Some know more than others, but most doesn't give a frick and shoehorn in dumb shit like romances or lore inaccurate stuff anyway. The writing is dogshit and seldom leans into the strength of the setting.
I am unfamiliar with 40k
Can I be a space wizard?
That's all that matters to me
Yes but they're called Psykers and they're dangerous and prone to demonic possession and mutations. Also most humans will hate you if you're a Psyker because of the previous mentioned.
You can play a psyker? Actually, what are the available "classes"?
>You can play a psyker?
Yes. Beta had sanctioned psyker, but we may get unsanctioned as well as sanctioned in full release, who knows. The "classes" are broken up into different layers. You have "background" which is super important for roleplaying as well as combat and gameplay because it affects both how NPC's treat you in certain parts and gives you unique abilities. These consist of Commissar, Psyker, Noble, Navy Admiral, Scoundrel, among many others. Then you have "Doctrines" which affect your role in combat and are purely a mechanical thing having no baring on how NPC's react to you. There are only four of these to begin with, that being Fighter, Leader, Adept, and Marksman and then there are hybrid ones you have to choose after level 15 being Assassin, Hunter, and Vanguard. The system is more flexible than I expected it to be. For example, you can play a Psyker Fighter and specialize entirely into biomancy and use power swords, or you can play a Psyker Leader and also use biomancy but function as a buffer/healer instead. There are also Homeworlds which are similar to the "background" system in Wrath but they give you even more abilities and specializations.
Thanks. I'm curious how a psyker rogue trader works. If there will be s sanctioned one, I might go for it.
You're sanctioned, another heir of Theodora's is a sanctioned psyker as well.
How much more involved is the background system compared to WotR? In that game it's just there for a small stat boost
>can’t kiss pasqal’s
it’s not fair
>no Kroot companion
Sad
>Is it me or Rogue Trader doesn't really work well as standard-fare CRPG given the player character's status?
Yes, it's you.
The game needs a qt Tau gf.
>The game needs a qt Tau gf.
Which one?
Good luck with that because the Tau can't even use warp travel kek.
Fortunately we visit Commorragh.
Female tau don't look like that.
Sure, but the twist of Xenology is that it's written by an aspect of the Deceiver, so everything in it may be bullshit.
Doesn't matter, though, since Tau are the most asexual race in the entire setting - they have their mates pre-chosen by the government, have sex only to procreate, and the offspring is raised by the government.
It's writted by a rogue magos biologis, in the employ of the Necron Lord of the Deceiver.
And curated by an actual Inquisitor.
Just use a portrait replacer like everyone who romanced the salad in kingmaker did.
>Romancing Salad
How the hell is co op going to work? Is your friend going to just have to play one of your premade lackeys? Will they also have to create a rogue trader? Will only they get to pick their actual "class"? I know why you have to play a rogue trader but I genuinely don't know how they're going to make multiplayer work and not be unsatisfying to at least one of the players
No official info. I was wondering if c0-op would perhaps allow the creation of a unique merc unit different from the companions to tag along. But that makes it weird for story beats still
from the sound of it they just take control of the companions during combat
considering how absolutely awful Owlcat are at QA and console ports, having this game launch alongside consoles and with co-op gimmicks is going to end badly.
Anyone know if all the classes are out yet? Wanted to play leader but it said it wasn't finished yet.
Latest update only did bugfixes from what I remember, so you will have to wait till December for the real thing.
If you want to understand why the West['s Zionist governments] hates Russia, read Solzhenitsyn's "200 Years Together"

Owlcat games aren't ready until at least one year after release.
Can confirm, wotr was almost unplayable for about 6 months. I heard similar things about kingmaker but only played that one once it was all patched up
Judging from Kingmaker and wrath:
>Kingmaker
18 hours to get the exe
50 Days so you could finish the game at all with save file not being fricked
3 months till first DLC and 1.1 version plus new spells and game being mostly stable
8 Months for turn based mod plus prep for enhanced edition and all dlc
>Wrath
3 weeks to fix thew few buffs that could halt progression in 2 mythic paths (demon and lich)
2 months for 1.1 patch to fix inventory and flags for companion quests
4 months to have at least the text for all classes and abilities display correctly, even if not working as intended
8-9 months to display all epilogues plus some new ones, most archetype abilities working, releasing first season of dlc fully
I'd say 3-4 months and owlcat releasing a big 1.1 is the moment you can attempt a playthrough safely.
At that moment, mods for QoL and even adjusting flags tend to be out
So at least a green ,red and yellow ending.
By how the various tiles move around the circle, you can infer that you can make the same decisions with different "alignment flavours" if you play your cards right.
Yeah and judging by how the system worked in Beta, it's not either or, unlike alignments from Wrath and Kingmaker. For example, you can do a run that's a mix of Imperialis and Benevolentia in terms of choices and get most perks from each tree, and presumably that would flavor an Imperialis ending differently compared to a staunch Imperialis only adherent.
So you CAN corrupt the ship, good to know..
>We're adding new mod tools for Rogue Trader (blueprint editor among them)
What about Steam workshop?
I want to be excited for this game but I can't
Enemies feel too samey (for the first 3 chapters you get 95% of the same humanoid type with the odd robot or Daemon)
There's like 4 classes with little to no variation
Dozens of mooks per encounter making them tedious, especially noticeable since most of them are humanoids with no discernable differences between them
Sad to see gameplay is still Owlcat's weakest link
Did they add the Argenta romance yet or are they committed to selling zero copies?
They won't ever add an Argenta romance, romance gay. You can continue to seethe though.
GW said no
Why wouldn't they work with the admech?
>GW said no
Bullshit. Just like Paizo allegedly said no to Amiri, right? Bullshit. Did GW also tell them to make the Eldar a traitor that won't even frick you? "Platonic romance" get the frick out of here Owlcucks.
>tranime
opinion discarded. What are the implications of coomer romance gays also being literal troons?
>muh anti-coomerism enlightenment
>actually always just a troony that defends gay shit and only criticizes straight content
You are a literal troon, you homosexual.
>projection
telling. remember to dilate, anonette.
>expressing apathy towards romance is defending it
okay then coom brain.
>expresses disgust towards heterosexual romance
>expresses "apathy" towards homosexual romance
What did anti-coomer mean by this?
>hating all romance equates to defending homosexualry
You Black folk are helpless and also illiterate.
You don't hate all romance. You only hate romance catered to straight men. You never criticize gay pandering, and you still haven't. In fact you praise it like the gay viking DLC from Pathfinder. Noticeable.
I do hate all romance in video games but you're too illiterate to listen and too stupid to see anything else.
>in fact you praise it like the gay viking DLC from Pathfinder
Legitimately what the hell are you even talking about? Do you live in schizo delusion land where you're seeing words nobody is even typing? Not even once did I ever mention anything related to Pathinder or its DLC's and all I've done is state how I hate you and I hate romances and that you're a coomBlack person who devs shouldn't be pandering to. There should be zero romances in rpg's at all.
What are the implications of "anti-coomers" giving a pass to coomer and romance content as long as it's targeted to homosexuals?
Technically, there's a chance that, with enough saturation, it will disgust and turn off the main normie audience and romance whining will stop altogether.
Fat chance though.
Feels good to be a Cassiachad
the fish wife is pure.
>Space Marine
>Mechanicus
>Battle Sister
They really had to be as uncreative as possible with the companions didn't they Rouge Trader's don't even usually work with any of these groups to begin with.
And what would you pick instead? Over these 3?
I was under impression Mechanicus was needed to maintain even the most basic machinery.
>Rouge Trader's don't even usually work with any of these groups to begin with.
Literally one of the baseline class options in RT core.
>Mechanicus
So.. the ship should be unable to function? Great idea, let's have a RT game where the machine spirit refuses to obey anyone and has a rocks fall and you die ending where it turns hostile on all the crew in Act 1. That screams great game design that will sell a gorrillion copies, introduce crpg fans to Warhammer and give Warhammer fans a hunger for more games done in their setting.
>Space Marine
Ulfar doesn't even show up until Act 3, and even then he's a single Space Wolf and optional companion you can easily decline with no story consequences if you truly detest Space Marines that much.
>SoB
Fair and Argenta has little reason to be with your crew had she not been utterly deprived of purpose due to warp frickery. She is also the most *blam* worthy companion for what she did to your predecessor. Good thing there's an option to kill her down the road.
>for what she did to your predecessor
What did she do?
Had a r*mance.
spoiler
Argenta shot Theodora down like the disgusting heretic she is. Truly the best companion in every way.
>he doesn't want to inherit the family tradition and would rather kneel before a corpse
I will praise the Emperor and venerate his name rather than submit to the depravity and madness of the Chaos Gods, yeah, 100%. Too bad Theodora wasn't smart enough to do the same.
Going to be playing this on day 1, bugs and all, doing a full Hereticus run with a psyker RT. Many will suffer and die, for my sake and especially for the gods I serve, but it will all be worth it in the end, and the people will experience untold desire.
Please tell me at least this 40k game isn't choke full of orkz enemies.
no orkz at all, dlc probably
they NEED a freeboota companion if Ork dlc, only proper.
I would like a recurring 'Rorc Trader' rival appearing for ship and standard battles
Freebootaz would more likely work for a rogue trader than a fricking dark eldar. Orks are chaotic and violent but they aren't outright evil most of the time like dark eldar are.
I believe you can only recruit Marazhai if your character is Hereticus.
Yea Freebootaz are literally hired by Rogue Traders.
There were even rules for them.
No weirder than Eldar and Kroot honestly
What's so special about freebotaz that makes them work as mercenaries? Are they orks that randomly got +1 INT when created or something?
They want shiny shit, a good fight, or weapons.
More commonly they just have bands of Ork freebootas who act as space pirates.
But occassionaly they are hired by RTs or random planets to deal with shit.
Its just that the vast majority of the time they get bored and betray whoever hired them
All freebootaz are Oddboys, they have have an obsession with material things, which makes them all queer orks. Just look at dem Flash gits. Always prancin' 'bout how flashy der shootas, how tall der hats, how fancy their pet squigglies and de likes.
That's downright unorky.
Also freebootas have wanderlust beyong basic b***h krumping, which is why they're so receptive to mercenary work.
They're the closest thing orks have to hedonists.
No orks, only Cultists, Demons for all 4 gods, CSM, Eldar, Dark Eldar, other Humans, I think Necrons too.
What about Tau?
Wrong part of the galaxy. People really underappreciate just how moronicly small the "Tau Empire" is - it's 40 inhabited worlds.
By comparison, the Imperium is MORE THAN A MILLION, and that's just planets.
In other words, you can basically only meet Tau in a very, very, very small part of space.
There's even a passage in one of the sourcebooks about how the Tau leadership began shitting itself in fear when they realised a single Hive World has a larger population than their entire empire. It was only then they realised how miniscule they are.
>Wrong part of the galaxy
Yes but...
One of the RT books has rule for Tau, there is Jericho-Maw Warp Gate in the Krornus Expanse allowing a connection to Tau space.
But yeah none in the game for now.
Yep, Nekrons are late game tough bastards apparently.
How long should i wait after realease of this game to be fully finished. Probably "definitve edition" or some crap. 2 years?
Wotr was virtually unplayable for about 6 months. Signs are this is probably going to be more rushed and less tested than wotr. I’ll be waiting for a while
As late as the April 2023 patch they were still adding in missing/broken epilogues and endings.
>Wotr was virtually unplayable for about 6 months
No it wasn't lmao
Yes, it was. I tried playing it right at release and it was buggy as frick. I shelved it and came back to it after six months of patches and it was playable and I finished it then. You sound like you didn’t play it at release. It was fricked
>You sound like you didn’t play it at release
I literally did and other than Greybor's quest fricking itself in act 5 there were no major bugs
I know lich and swarm were bugged and you couldn't continue their mythic questline but SIX MONTHS? no
Supposedly Kingmaker was fricked for a year+. I didn’t play that one at release, though, so can’t confirm it.
Yup, I was playing just a basic-ass paladin with angel/legend path, no weird paths. Turn based was fricked, charge was fricked, you’d get stuck on random bits of terrain and lose your turn, feats and spells were buggy and didn’t work right, cutscenes would bug out and hang requiring a restart, etc.
It’s a janky game running in Unity from an eastern European studio known for rushing buggy games, why do you sound surprised? I like Owlcat and I enjoyed both their games but let’s be honest here.
This timeline applies to most people
HOWEVER, when you release patches and hotfixes in rapid pace, the chance to frick over a save increases. Some people got fricked over because they updated. Especially ones who did big breaks
>muh agile
>muh move fast and break stuff
...What?
Developers are stupid + incompetent nowadays.
Oh yeah, sure. That 'agile' threw me off
I remember getting fricked bad by shitty patches when playing Imperator: Rome at release. Same with BG3, I had to disable the updates because the devs were breaking their game with every patch.
Over-the-wire patches and its consequences have been a disaster for software.
2 years at most if we're looking at WotR, do NOT play this game or any Owlcat game on release date.
I will be playing it on release and nothing will stop me.
Recent games I got burned playing at launch:
Imperator: Rome
Wotr
BG3
Cyberpunk (actually it was buggy but playable, it was just a shitty game)
Bugs will.
speaking of bugs, iI haven't seen Swarm/dragon gay in this thread, does he not like Warhammer or something?
You're right but I'll take my chances again (played WoTR at launch and regretted it)
Has anyone tried the beta after the new patch to see if Owlcat have broken it
Apparently performance is worse
So does this game have something to set your character apart like the mythic paths? Or is it like Kingmaker where your companions can very easily end up being better than your character?
New interview
More like pathfinder I think, there isn't any special class or abiltities for being the protagonist. We don't even get to upgrade our sardine can of a ship
Wasn't there a rogue trader class?
How indepth do you think the Chaos path will be? Gameplay changes significantly? Choose which God to follow? Also what companions will have corruption paths because the Astartes might be tough.
There are at least 2 obvious full blown chaos candidates in your team.
If I had to guess, going full blown on either of the 3 karma paths will make the last chapter and epilogue pretty different. As for flavor of chaos, I doubt we choose
As long as I don't have to follow nurgle or khorn I will be happy
You're in luck then because Khorne has the least items, quests, and representation and Tzeentch is the biggest player in terms of story stuff. There's a lot of Slaanesh stuff in Act 2.
Fishy
>ywn wake up to the smell of Cassia's unwashed gills
fish handholding
High risk of having your hand butchered by her nails
what is love without sacrifice
Hot.
On a scale of 1-10, 1 being Kingmaker-tier, how badly do you think they'll botch the launch?
I'm guessing a 4, it'll be technically playable from start to finish, with the later acts having more crashes and broken quests, and the co-op won't work
I'd say a 5-6. A character or two will have messed up flags, some abilities will not work as intended and the last act will need a month so you can go without reloads(but still can finish it)
The entire industry seems to be shitting itself to death so I would say a 2 or 3.
So when the game fully releases, who should i romance, the space elf ranger or the cutie fish girl navigator?
>who should I romance, the traitor or the non-traitor
>Owlcat are willing to rewrite Jae three times but are refusing to budge on Yrliet
I don't get it
>rewrite Jae three times
what? qrd
Not actually three, twice, but they did it because she was the least popular character in the game (her and Idira, they didn't give the actual rankings but I have no doubt Jae was at rock bottom)
I mean, you had her writing in the alpha, and the changes plus expanded content in the Beta. Not sure where multiple rewrites came up.
We have only seen effectively two versions of content
>rewrite Jae three times
They are morons, problem is less in her writting more in her portrait. She ugly hag.
Yrliet isn't even a romance. You can't frick her and she's "platonic" like what the frick is that shit even supposed to mean. You hold her hand while she gets gangbanged by deldar? Fricking moronic Owlcat shit. They haven't budged on Argenta either. Dumb fricks.
Argenta is a GW decision
For once I'm glad GW is intervening. Romance doesn't belong in a 40k game.
Love to read how anti-romance homosexual can't stop seething
Here is (you) now go back to coping
That's bullshit btw just like Amiri
Okay, fine. Let's say GW decided that. Who decided that the OTHER options are an ugly fish, a "platonic" traitor who fricks everyone EXCEPT (You) and an even uglier fricking grandma pajeet prostitute with a smoker's hole in her throat?
>an ugly fish
Cassia is cute. CUTE!
She's taller than your character and has gills. Gross.
homosexual
Maybe it is Nickclark from Reddit. The homosexual who got crazy because Marazhai is only malexmale option and he want sugarsweet gay boy for himslef
Don't bring reddit lolcows here, we already have enough with Farquaad
Speaking of Farquaad - it was a moment since he last appearance
He was shitting up the Pathfinder thread yesterday
>uglier fricking grandma pajeet prostitute
Fellow human do not insult infiltration necron unit-Jae like that! You'll hurt the units feelings!
That meme become boring
Why some of fellow anons keep using old ideas over and over...can't they think of anything new?
Even Yrliet have new memes
>using old meme over and over again
Simple minds - simple pleasures
Indeed - simple minds are not very creative.
Jae's main problems are her accent, her manner of speaking, and her backstory. Other than that I think she's perfectly serviceable for what she is. Not every companion can be a hyper loyalist spouting warcries for the empruh, there does need to be more dubious potential crew members for players who want to take more heretical routes.
She's ugly and brown
Her biggest crime is that she isn't morbidly obese.
Behead fatgays
behead? how? the blade won't be able to pierce their neck fat.
>hyper loyalist
i get the feeling that jae will be one of the most loyal of all companions because she has only to gain if she stays on your side while other have other thing to do:
Argenta - she's pretty much is watching over youready to BLAM you like our predecesor if we go heretic
Heinrix - he is an inquisitor he got more important stuff to do and doesn't need you
Pasqal - he is looking for his mentor and nothing else
Yrliet - she wants adventure and flat out betrays you
Dark eldar - why would you even want to recruit him in the first place?
Abelard - simped for an literal heretic if a demon disgused as her, abelard would turn on us in one sec
Idira - a literal ticking timebomb
All that remains are cassia and jae
By Loyalist I meant Imperial Loyalist, not loyalty as in the relationship quality. I understand that the 40k fanbase is autistic and that this website in itself is autistic, but this is some advanced autism.
>launches in like a month
>zero hype
>thread is dead aside from the most halfhearted waifuposting I've seen
>absolutely zero presence outside of /vrpg/
they should have let the game cook for another 6 months.
All doomposting is surprisingly similar
not surprising, especially if you've played and been around for owlcats other launches. this one just feels weird, people absolutely were losing their shit with wrath for months before release during the beta phases. even here on /vrpg/ threads would hit bump limit and die within a week at most. compare that to this one which has taken nearly a month and a half to get to 400 posts.
I don't know if it's the game itself, or people just not clicking with the alpha/beta (would bet money its the horrible class system, I warned them they needed to rip that thing out and rework it but they didn't listen).
>we need hype
>the past of an image board matters
I bet next you'll be complaining that nobody ever discusses gameplay and only talk about the story/characters.
no
nobody discusses the gameplay because there's nothing to talk about. there is no build autism. as I mentioned like a post above, the fricking horrible class and feat system ensured this.
Even if Jae was well liked I still doubt people would ever use her, it's pretty hard to make room for her in the party and I doubt anyone is willing to drop Cassia.
No muties
>mutie
More like cutie
speak for yourself, I've used her on multiple playthroughs of the Beta due to her xenos weapon proficiencies.
I dropped Argenta for her in Beta. While Argenta is better from powergaming point, my character don't like having fanatic near him for most time.
I dropped Argenta off at Footfall first playthrough of Beta and then decided to keep her around on my next one after learning that Idira can kill her.
not sure why they needed to be renamed
I guess consistency with source books, but I remember an adept class existing. Oh well
Hunter def needed a rename because that architype fits Yrliet and no one else.
>leader to OFFICER
ngl, that sounds way more badass..
>The two least popular companions are the black one and a pajeet
Owlcat....
this says two things.
1. RT fans are based
2. Owlcat needs to get the lightbulb going in their heads
I will actually buy the game for the sole reason that I hate Pathfinder and Warhammer is infinitely more interesting.
How high are the chances that Theodora turns out to be alive, behind everything in the game and simping for her and becoming a new god of chaos is the secret ending?
Zero.
1%, she turned herself into a vessel for Ctan
You underestimate Owlcat's villain simping
>Theodora
>villain
I mean.. I guess from the average Inquisitor's perspective she is but from my RT's perspective she's my benefactor.
Argenta, execute this heretic.
>he doesn't want to inherit the family tradition
anon..
Looks like my first character is going to be a Sanctioned Psyker, probably stick to pyromancy. Love the class outfit. Like biomancer but with the interrogator being one there's no point for 2 of them, might have to pick some diviner skills at some point to make up for the fact that I always let Argenta execute the negress
in terms of renegade/heretical shit, how far can i go with it? will it affect my companions?
There are 5 tiers of alignment, which you prorgess by consistently picking chpices, one assumes they will go pretty far.
You even have multiple choices in the same dialogue in some cases , like say 2 hereticus options, s there is some effort for flavor too.
Endings are tied to each path as well (or at least some variants), as they mentioned before. Exact details for how it affects companions is not known, but there are already obvious Chaos bait characters.
>how far can i go with it?
You can cause whole planets to fall to Chaos and willingly serve the Ruinous Powers as well as side with the WB, not even to mention the various and gruesome forms of torture you can inflict upon people. Was honestly really surprised with the Hereticus options in Beta.
>will it affect my companions?
I expect so but to the exact extent is unknown, I do know that Pasqual's companion quest deals with corruption a lot so doing a Hereticus run will probably really frick him up if I were to guess.
can you be an inquisitorial c**t and cause an entire planet fall to Chaos and then burn the planet in the name of the Emperor
possibly not fall to Chaos yourself?
You can certainly be exterminatus happy, not sure how much you can kickstart Chaos shenanigans and then covering your ass
>Can I be offer the solution to problems I'm personally responsible for
Yes. You can even do an Imperialis primary score and Hereticus secondary score in terms of alignment if you really wanna do something that disgusting.
So the background is only sanctioned psyker, but it's split into telepath, pyromacer, biomancer, diviner and sanctic
Sanctic is an interesting path that I will never end up picking due to needing to be a Psyker so will probably respec Henrix into that instead of having him be his default biomancer. It's also a weird inclusion because it makes Ministorium Priest less unique.. why offer hallow prayers to the Empruh when you can be an anti-warp sponge in His name?
I did not pay attention to the co-op details much, but it is at least confirmed that the moment you are proper in act 2, you can respec companions and hire mercs
Is it full respec or did they frick up again
They did not show that but I doubt it's full
Not a full respect most likely since your background affect a lot of things
>guys we heard you want a different ship so here's three frigates
Space sloops or nothing
Falchion is pre-oder - only, by the way.
>mightiest
ITS A FRICKING FRIGATE
The frick did you expect honestly? Also isn't player ship itself is hardlocked to retrofitted Arbites Punisher Strike Cruiser and this shit is escorts you can choose?
a light cruiser or the option to upgrade later
Anon you literally start in a super special light cruiser used primarily by glowies, down the line you get to reinforce it with frigate escort. Do you misunderstand things on purpose to be upset about them?
our ship is a frigate throughout the entire game
>here's more ships! Except there's no variety.
>here's your psyker portrait! She's bald, frick you. What? You wanted an attractive psyker? Hah.
>here's your black off-worlder portraits. No, they're not Death World tribals, they're imperial nobles. What? You wanted representation of less advanced culture in a vast expansive universe? Hah.
How does Owlcat manage to always disappoint even when they provide something in regards to their portraits? Even when they give you what you ask for they also explicitly give you the opposite of what you want, every time. Even back in Kingmaker they gave warrior gnome portraits and zero spellcaster ones, and then in Wrath all the gnome portraits are armored knights. Do they expect against-type to be the default for literally everyone? It's all so tiresome..
>Death World tribals,
Why would a rogue trader choose a tribal as an heir? Also death world doesn't mean tribal, there are plenty of civilized death worlds.
>Why would a rogue trader choose a tribal as an heir?
Because you're genetically related and strong enough to rip dinosaurs in half is why.
>muh civilized tribal
Civilization makes people weak, though. Overreliance on lasguns and boltas means you never use the fists, spears, and sticks that the God Empruh gave you to use.
>civilized tribal
There are death worlds with hive cities on them.
And they will always be weaker for it.
most death worlds don't have tribals because you just die when you go outside without some sort of life support system
You're a moron who's unfamiliar with the setting then.
>You're a moron who's unfamiliar with the setting then.
there's a few death worlds with tribals, which is not most
technically theodora hadn't chosen an heir yet, she might've been planning on making you a bodyguard
I hope they'll include the QOL shit they had in the EE on release, particularly being able to transmog equipment
new portraits
>90% of the portraits are White
Is this GW's doing? This is definitely not Owlkek behavior
Is it really that hard to grasp that those aren't all the portraits we'll get in-game?
The duality of man.
Made to corrupt Heinrix
>we could've had a cold trader romance companion looking like this
>get a hideous brown pajeeta chainsmoker instead
I hate Owlcat
>Boot up visual adjustment (will inevitably come out)
>Replace her doll and make her white
>Use that portrait
There you go homosexual, if how she looks is all you care about
higher quality
Lower quality
Best lady!
>noble portrait
>isn't morbidly obese
What is even the point..?
What's with all the male portraits having homosexual soibeards?
Here's you're epic and redpilled rogue trader, bro. Enjoy morons.
Average pathfinder fan.
LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO they put a literal troony in the game
And imagine the actual percentage of players who will even bother picking that as their custom RT's portrait, as opposed to the Commissar one or pic related. What the hell was Owlcat thinking??
>What the hell was Owlcat thinking??
VatBlack folk pretend to be le redpilled but they are just authoritarian flavored woke. No country in the world has more AIDS cases than Russia, not even African countries. Think about that.
>8 white portraits
>A single black one
>WTF WAS OWLCAT THINKING WHY DO THEY DO THIS REEEEEE
Why are you people like this, it's just a single fricking portrait
Nah, I'm tired of vatBlack folk using politics as a cudgel to disrupt other games buy suddenly it doesn't apply to their own work. Get lost, Ivan.
If you hate russkies so much, why do you play their games?
>politics
you are the one to bring AIDS cases in response to a complain at portraits
at the very least promises us you are not simping for the american industrial complex and gae for free, they most certainly have the money to pay
> I'm tired of vatBlack folk using politics as a cudgel to disrupt other games buy
What the frick is this pajeet gurbling?
It's not that the portrait is black, it's that it's portrayed as a member of the Imperium nobility. The amount of players who are going to play this type of hyper niche architype are next to none. If I'm going to play a black character I'm going to play a marksman and larp as a Ugandan warlord, I'm not going to play a pseudo-sophisticated DEI checkbox. What part of that do you not understand?
>I do not have problem with blacks, just them being portrayed as anything but tribal savages
Makes sense
>/vpol/ already having a meltie
>astra militarum
>marksman
>heavy bolter
why yes, its go time
New bread...
Are there still just two portraits that look like priests? That's disappointing, I liked playing the Missionary class in the ttrpg.
You will have to import your priest, I guess
fem commissar looks hot as hell
I wish there was high quality version of this image to use for this game.
Ah wait there is. Just found it. Great. I may use this if I ever go for corrupted Commissar run. Or Ultra Imperialis Run.
New thread
Why am I not surprised?
>New thread when we're not at page 10 yet in this slow ass board
>le ragebait because I hate Black folk
Fricking have a nice day homosexual
Of course it had to be an /ocg/ Black person.
>new thread
>welcome to pathfinder edition
