underrated post
It's a 7/10 game. The gameplay is fine but the music and visuals are great.
more like 8.2/10
the music alone makes it feel like 9.5 though
Frick I played it on a chromebook with linux installed and couldn't figure out how to get sound working.
yeah
for me, it's a 9.5/10
How come they haven't ported it to modern consoles?
yea
it's had several ports
it hasn't been on a single console since the Wii.
it had a DS port (apparently the best version of the game to date) then got ported to android and had a steam release, knowing square enix, since both are timeless, they think thats enough for the series, so i wouldn't be surprised if the game doesn't get a new port anytime soon.
I mean specifically home consoles, which is was I assume
meant as well, but yeah.
It's just funny to me that Chrono Cross of all things got ported to all modern platforms before Trigger did. Just a really odd decision on Square's part
Maybe Square released Cross on modern consoles because they had no intention of remaking Cross like they do Trigger?*
*Pure conjecture on my part. I think if they remade Chrono Trigger with Dragon Quest XI-tier graphics it could really do well. Just don't change the gameplay like FFVII:Remake did.
Considering how the Steam version is still a buggy mess, I doubt they have the competence to do so. And this is after literal years of incremental patches on the back of a public backlash to the original Steam release. They probably don't even have the original source code anymore.
It's still downright baffling that they thought the original pc release was in any way acceptable.
They literally just ported over the whole mobile game, emulator and all, but with the addition of forced vaseline filters.
And they were proud of that shit, they legit thought it was the definitive version.
Jesus fricking christ
Yeah, these days I just recommend people emulate the DS version and ignore TOSE's shitty extra content. The dual screen interface is actually really good.
I usually finish every single RPG I play and I still have yet to finish this one. I even finished Chrono Cross. I don't know why.
I don't care what anyone says. Chrono Cross is a great game.
Yahtzee didn't liked it, so it is BAD!
by that logic every game is bad.
Which Yahtzee? Crenshaw?
It's alright. Somebody might argue that it's a shallow game and to an extent I would agree. But I think it deserves its status as a classic.
Yes.
Cute visuals. Very nice story. Dated but enjoyable gameplay.
It's a very enjoyable experience, I replayed it for the first time since the '90, and I expected it to be too dated to enjoy a full replay of it. But it has held up very nicely.
ost too good.
Nah. It's pretty good, but it has such a forced reputation as the GOTYAY.
for the time?
Yes, it was among the best games on the snes and a must have
Nowadays?
Well.....it is a bit dated, but the music still holds up, really worth giving a try.
art holds up too, honestly. story and gameplay are what's dated. no complexity in either.
there are some moments that are still great to experience today and that have therefore aged well, like the court scene, the different times' atmospheres, Magus fight, and the ability to get different endings.
I got filtered within an hour. Battle system is wonky and the opening is boring as hell
It's a good game.
Great even.
But some do seem to over blow it as if it's the best video game ever made and ever will be.
I mean, I personally like star ocean 2 more and have played through it more times, even with acknowledging its flaws.
That's the thing, I can acknowledge a game I like more has serious flaws.
Fans that think trigger is the best game ever tend not to.
Musically? Yes.
It's even better than that good
I've tried to play this several times but I just stop and lose interest for whatever reason. I always get to the future dome area where you meet Robo and just stop playing around that point.
